We live in Central Italy near the coast and have had some exceptional seafood there. I have to say that the linguine frutta di mare at Bucci was as good as anything we have eaten in Italy. Bravi a tutti !

This is a tricky one to vote.... the atmosphere, family run vibe and food would score really high but the service doesn't match.
The food is incredibly good value and huge portions that taste very authentic and fresh.
However we had to wait for 40 minutes to be seated, even though we booked. We were given a glass of prosecco but no one communicated with us. Then when we were seated we we had to wait 40 minutes to order and ask 4 times if we could order. This pattern followed with dessert and asking for the bill. Luckily we were in no rush and I had been before so expected poor service. It's a shame reading other reviews that are 2 years old that this has always been the case. More staff needed and more attentiveness but great food!

Such a mixed bag! We were a big group (about 16) and the place was busy, but still, we'd been there an hour and 20 before our starters came, and mains we about 2 hours in. Saying that, the food is very authentic (I got back from touring Italy a couple of days before and the menu was spot on) with a great selection. I sampled the tricolore salad to start and also nibbled on the garlic mushrooms (needs bread with it) and the antipasti platter and they were all fab.
Mains are also extremely good but again, a couple of dishes arrived after everyone else was pretty much finished. The cannaloni though, oh my god - herby, tender minced beef, spinach, perfect pasta and bechamel that wasn't too rich. Obligatory bubbly mozzarella on top. A great dish, loved it. The pizzas are also good, gooey centres and chewy crusts.
The best bit was the crazy birthday show! All the kitchen staff come out and they have horns, tambourines etc and sing the loudest, longest, most Italian happy birthday I've ever heard, it was fantastic. It's worth going just for that, tell them it's your birthday.
Unfortunately my phone died so no pics but imagine good, authentic, hearty Italian grub, bags of personality from the owner (less so from the staff) and an overall very good night and you're there.
Very good meal, excellent service and definitely recommended.

Best Italian in Balham. Really like this place and come here on a regular basis. Excellent pastas and the pizza is probably the best in Balham. The boss is very welcoming and always makes sure we are looked after. Love the complimentary limoncino and biscuits at the end of every meal too! There's a reason why it's always full of us Italians! :-)

Hidden Gem. Been walking passed it for years, never really paid much attention. Went there the other week, loved the food, the service & the mild eccentricity of the place. If it's someones birthday all the staff will parade around & sing happy birthday.
The Prawn & Avocado starter was perfect plus the steak & mushrooms sauce was excellent.
If you fancy some fizz the Prosecco was an ideal accompaniment.

Another neighbourhood Italian. This one is a cut above some I have ventured to in recent times. The only big let down are the deserts which as the photos in the menu suggest are shop bought and not even good ones! That aside the main course was pretty good and the service was above average which is always a result in London! Will go back and test out some of the other mains but no desert thanks!

Good Local Italian with poor deserts. Been hearing good things about this place, and the Lamberts set menu was not appealing for a tuesday night. Nice surroundings typical of Italian tratorias around the world, lots of old movie star pictures (although not necessarily Italian). Quite quiet compared to Cuillos up the road and all the better for it.
Very impressed with the Pasta, (smoked chicken and tomatoes) Al Dente and really really tasty, with a lovely subtle source. Hungry Ben opted for Veal with Sage and a generous dish of vegetables, had a taste of the veal - terrific. Starters were average, Bresoala was ok, had better for less money and more generous a portion.
Desert felt like a real let down, as soon as you see photos on the menu you know someones been to the cash and carry.
Really, Italian deserts should be second to none, but all to often they're an afterthought to the restaurant, and when you're charging £5.50 a go you should be able to manage a Profiterole, a lemon tart and or Ice cream without consulting Sara Lee.
The Pizzas look good, I'll be going back, but will be focusing on the main courses, which is a shame, its nice to linger over good food and make a night of it, this place isn't the cheapest for 3 course plus wine.

The place offers authentic Italian cuisine and has one the best Italian in town. The food here is delicious. The portions are also enormous and the price is worth the quantity and quality of food. The service here is great and quite prompt. The atmosphere is also very lively and enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this place.
Lovely Italian place, happened to go here for lunch and loved it. The food is great, the starters amazing, especially the anchovies in breadcrumbs. The food was delectable, though the menu was basic. The desserts were brilliant too, and the atmosphere warm and welcoming.
We went to this place for pre-wedding festivity and were blow away by the quality and taste of the food served! We ordered multiple appetizers which were all amazing. The fried risotto balls were just short of decadent and the little pizza squares were perfect with never ending wine.
We chose from a pre-set menu and we enjoyed the Prosciutto E Melone and the Caprino Panato, which was fried goat cheese with fries and red onion compote which were all delectable.
The Frutti de Mare was amazing and had an enormous portion. My partner had the salmone alla griglia which was perfect - tender, moist with vegetables on the side. We also tasted petto di pollo alla contessa, penne bucci, spaghetti bolognese, and the calamari fritti, avocado con gamberetti which were delectable. Panna Cotta with fresh berries for dessert was delcious. I highly recommend this place. Amazing atmosphere and passionate staff!
There were many choices in this street but we tried this place on a friend's recommendation. This little place doesn't look amazing from the street, but it is always full of diners. We didn't have reservations, but the owner managed to get us into the crowded room. Service was a little slow due to the crowd, but the waiter and owner were very efficient and attentive. Our order consisted of spaghetti bolognese, pizza and penne alla Norma. Everything was top notch and delicious. From the olives to the lemoncello, everything was full of flavors.
One of the best choices made by us was to visit the Bucci's. It's by far the best Italian restaurant we have ever been to. It's fantastic, superb and has a lovely ambiance. The employees over there are very humble and friendly. We ordered Frutte Di Mare, and it was mouth watering. The seafood was amazing and fresh. I recommend to try Linguini with Salmon, Dill and Leeks in a cream sauce, which is incredibly delicious. They also serve it with petite glasses of limoncillo which is just amazing. Worth going to this place, you will love it.
I ventured into this restaurant after a few years and was not disappointed! The service was great and I had the chance of meeting the owner of the place. Being a weekday it was quite packed. We ordered a pasta with sea food and in my opinion, there was more sea food than pasta, which I consider good. The saltimbocca was delicious too. The portions were rather large and I felt it was very good value for moneyconsidering the amount we ordered and ate.
Its a must visit!!

I keep coming back to this restaurant always to try their specials. The seafood pasta is one of the dish that is worth mentioning loaded generously with fresh sea food. Only thing that stops m for this place 5 star is their service! Though the servers are are friendly and efficient in bringing the food to your table, but it can be tricky to get their attention when the restaurant is full. They need to hire maybe more staff members to improve their service.
The food here is excellent, especially saltimboccas and seafood pasta which taste really unique. As the place is often busy, it is recommended to book a place beforehand. All in all, it was a lovely experience and would love to stop by again.
The steak was dry. The pasta was over cooked. The service was slow. Need I say more to dissuade you from even thinking about going here? I must say, after having read the reviews I was actually looking forward to trying out this place and enjoying the evening with my friends. Much to my dismay, we were only whining about the food throughout.
I come here so often. It is among my most favorite haunts to eat, The owner is so welcoming and gracious here. I have always had excellent service and looking after here. The pasta and pizza here are delicious and the best around in this city. The stuff one gets on complementary basis is so very enjoyable.

I have seen this place a lot of times and one day just decided to drop by here. Food was delectable backed by impeccable service. Interiors were soothing and gave a nice pleasant feel over all. Prawn and avocado starters were delicious and my steak with mushroom sauce was delectable.
The decor was good and well done. It was very typically Italian with movie star posters adorning the wall.
I found the food to be great, specifically the pasta! It was done to perfection and had a great sauce as its base. The veal was also terrific. The starters could be better though. they were quite ordinary.
Disappointed with the unavailability of pizza at this place, who knew we were in for a pleasant surprise. We happened to order the set menu consisting of a two course meal. All of this for just 10 pounds!
The staff guided us through our options and we ordered the minestrone with a combination of timba and prawn.

The place serves authentic Italian cuisine. It is better than a lot of Italian restaurant I have visited lately. The food here is good. The dishes that we ordered for the main course were delectable and absolutely delicious. The only let-down was the dessert, which was bought from another shop. Not only that, it didn't even taste good. The service is good here. Will return to try other dishes from the mains again.
A nice Italian restaurant that unfortunately was out of pizza when i had visited with some friends. The food good. The portions are adequate. The drinks were also delicious. The service is swift with a well trained and friendly staff. We shall visit again to try the pizzas and we might as well just call in advance to confirm.
This is a fantastic family run Italian with a real authentic atmosphere. All the dishes are served with the freshest ingredients, I would recommend the Rigatonni All' Amatriciana or the Diavola pizza. Best Italian south of the river!
Amazing food, wonderful customer service! Serving size is brill and the pricing great. I can never get enough of this place. Me and my work friends work and live in Balham and Bucci is always our first choice hands down.
Great food, great service, very tasty. I ordered a pizza, calamari and tiramisu to take away. The calamari was lightly battered and very tender. The pizza hot, fresh with lots of fillings, restaurant quality (not the cheap oily pizza delivery type) and the tiramisu was great. If i was not returning to Australia this week i would definitely return.
I don't know if it is a British thing but service in this country tends to be pretty poor... Until I came to Bucci. The staff were so friendly and professional, and the food... THE FOOD.
I had a seasonal pasta dish with clams and my partner had a pizza and both were incredible, and very well priced. We also had the fried calamari as a starter and it was the first time in a while that I've had calamari that hadn't been fried to high heavens and turned to rubber.
11/10 restaurant, I could not recommend this place enough.

Homely Italian place in Balham. Friendly staff. Good pasta. I had the carbonara and my wife had the ragu. Both hit the spot. Ordered a tiramisu to finish it off and it did not disappoint. Great value for money as well at £25 per person. If you want a local Italian spot in Balham for decent Italian food, look no further.

Really lovely evening. Food was delicious, we had the Bucci speciality pasta and pizza. Did some really good deals on wine/meal combos throughout the week which made it very affordable.
Nice atmosphere and lots of little touches from the staff made it perfect.

Delicious food, lots of seating, kind staff and nice atmosphere. Our drinks came slightly late and they gave them to us for free, which was very kind. Also the prices are low compared to the high quality food and service. 😀

I did not see the itemised bill until we had left and got home. I would have raised issue with £10 for a small portion of plain pasta had I realised.
If, as a parent, I choose not to add fruit juice and ice cream to my child’s dinner, then I would expect an option to pay for their main course and not a fixed kids menu.
I would just like to know if you think it’s fair to charge £10 for a half portion of completely plain penne?

Lovely meal. Tasty food (albeit very slow from the kitchen) But totally ruined by them charging us £10 for a half portion of completely plain penne for our toddler. The adult pastas start at £10! My other son had a kids spaghetti with tomato. Also £10.
So £20 for two small kids pastas.
We spent a lot of money on the rest of our meal. Starters and main courses for the adults. So not like we were trying to feed us all on a shoestring. Spoilt it

Recently visited Bucci for the first time, fantastic Italian. Lasagne was delicious, a few others had pizzas which were excellent and the desserts were so tasty!!! Would highly recommend thanks to the all round experience. The restaurant had a nice and relaxed atmosphere!
Fantastic local Italian restaurant with delicious food, big portions and lovely service. It is in my opinion the best Italian in Balham. Both times I have been, the staff have been incredibly helpful in offering suggestions on wines and ensuring a good time.
Really fantastic! Have eaten in here before, last year, and we loved it. Used the covid menu this evening with the free Prosecco offer... even more amazing. Great pizzas, delicious cheese cake and free Prosecco!
