We happened to be in the Flat Iron Square one sunny Sunday afternoon and spotted this place which had a huge queue waiting to be seated. Intrigued, and hungry we joined the queue and I do not regret standing for half an hour a bit. They have a wide selection of savoury and sweet pancakes with vegetarian options. I went for the breakfast pancake which was delicious! They claim to serve pure maple syrup, and don't care whether its pure or not it is pleasurable. They also have several options in drinks and lattes- very pretty to look at - matcha latte, turmeric latte and beetroot latte. Overall a very interesting place, helpful staff, good ambience, both indoor and outdoor seating, many options to choose from for both food and drinks, food is extremely tasty and good quality. Just one tip - book in advance and save the wait!
Was here at my birthday last year - going to England again so I have been looking for it, and luckily just found it. The food tasted amazing, the staff was friendly and it’s def instaworthy
Altho the place was a bit difficult to find
I did wonder if the name of this restaurant was to be an all purpose response to any question that you might be asked. Where’s John? . Where the pancakes are. . Where did you park the car?. Where the pancakes are. Where did the accident happen?. Where the pancakes are. Wait, actually depends what type of accident you are talking about.
We sat outside. Staff are friendly and helpful. The menu has vast creative selections of pencakes. Ingredients used are fresh. Welsh rarebit pancake is awesome. Excellent service
One of the best pancakes we ever had and thats when we have tried some very good places in US. Great selection of sweet and savoury options (even for vegetarians) along with excellent service makes this place a must try.
Lovely, cozy place with a great ambience. The pancakes are well done and great start for a weekend. Found the flat white a little too bitter but the whole experience made up for it. There are lot of books to pick up and read.
What: Pancakes for Breakfast
Where: Southwark, London, UK
The Dish: Sweet Dutch Pancakes
Value: £10pp
Food Review: To order: Spanish latte, Eggs Benedict with Salmon Pancake, Sweet Dutch Pancake
wp-image-420701658jpg.jpg
The spanish lattes came first, two beautifully crafted with hearts (or cartoon eyes) with 2 shots of coffee each, finished with condensed milk. A delicously sweet, creamy and slightly indulgent start. Note, if you like your coffee bitter, just stick to the flat white, but if your in the mood then this is for you.
Then came the eggs benedict with smoked salmon. 2 poached eggs sat on top of two soft buttermilk pancakes with smoked salmon and mushroom doused in hollandaise sauce. Simple and clean, this dish has the makings of the ultimate lazy sunday breakfast food.
And finally, the sweet baby dutch pancakes, a combination of apples, berries and flaked almonds sitting on top of a squidgy yorkshire pudding style pancake accompanied with cream. Its thick batter is what elevates this dish into something else, without it, it may seem a bit minimal. All in a great meal to start Sundays right.
Sober Status: Alcohol is served on site. Other Drinks on offer include coffee, teas and fruit juices
When I next visit I would have: Savoury Dutch Baby
Halal: No
Internal and External Review:
Located near Southwark station, it is set on a side road under the railway arches alongside other restaurants and bars and is making use of the space in Flat Iron Square.
From the interior, the space has been used to its full capacity and has split seating allowing it to showcase its high ceilings and opening up the room space into so much more. This tiny but perfect sized cafe has a minimal approach to its interiors and makes use of the natural light flooding the room through its glass front.
The Service: The service was great and could not be faulted. At first, due to being sat on the second floor away from the staff I thought we may have an issue getting attention, but this was not the case and everything was served on time and with extra plates.
Sum up:
A great cafe for pancake and breakfast lovers alike set in a quirky location and a beautiful design.
Really enjoyed our first visit over breakfast on Christmas Eve. Friendly staff and interesting menu with some pancake varieties too. I had the sweet corn fritter pancake which were delicious (with creme fraiche avocado and olive oil). The egg royale looked great. Coffee is very good.

coriandier-lime butter. Fresh and lively. Could have handled more chilli (as per usual). Rebecca’s Hummingbird plate looked fabulous – cream,. cinnamon pineapple but the pomegranates, almond and coconut put me off stealing. any of it. She seemed very pleased with her choice. Each dish comes with two or three pancakes and that’s
Lovely little place! Great pancakes with a nice selection of savoury, sweet, and sweet&savoury choices! Also good veggie options. I went for Royal regular with salmon, and asparagus while the colleagues I was with went for vegetarian English breakfast and Banana marshmallow, we all loved our choices! I would recommend to book in advance as it can be quite busy and for lunch it’s quite popular in the area! Nice outdoors seating area with blankets provided for the colder season too. Service was good and we didn’t have to wait long to get our order. Came here for work lunch twice and both times our group enjoyed the experience, will come back soon as I am yet to try the sweet ones!
Excellent range of pancake options with some innovative combinations, the pear and salted caramel option was particularly nice. There is also a variety of savoury dishes. It's all really well cooked, seasoned and presented. Only downside is it's a long wait to get served - I'd advise booking in advance to avoid a long wait to get a seat too!
My husband and I came here for breakfast! The ambience was really nice - we sat outside since I wanted to have the outside dining experience and they had blankets and heaters to help keep you warm. The service was pretty nice and friendly. The food was good I really didn’t have any complaints. I would recommend.
You go to a restaurant for three things. Food, service, and ambience. I wish I could give 6 stars! The gluten free pancakes for my wife and children were exceptional, and tailored to their own preferences. The full English Breakfast was outstanding! And our service was impeccable. Attentive and communicative from a gentleman with an Irish accent. He made the experience perfect.
Went here with my family with 2 kids aged 9-10. The menu has a wide range of pancake options for all tastes. For the kids you can get plain pancakes and add any extras you like from the list. Pulled beef pastrami pancakes and cheese dutch baby were delicious! The only upside down was that we waited way too long for our food.
Booking beforehand is highly recommended and it's so worth it. Great quality ingredients and plenty of vegan and vegetarian options.
Friendly service and a lovely atmosphere.
Showed up on a Sunday morning with no reservations and there was a line. Got is in within 10 min, waitress came right over. Atmosphere is fun, it is a busy place, food was delicious, reasonably priced, would totally come back
It's pancakes. Seems pretty self-explanatory. They make a decent pancake. Fluffy, tasty, not too dry. I've had a lot of bad pancakes in Europe so this was a nice surprise.
I was tempted to try a Dutch baby just for the novelty of it, but while I'm sure it's good, I just couldn't bring myself to do so.
Didn't have a reso in the early afternoon and were seated right away but the place was pretty busy and full, so it seems like it's popular the whole day. I would suggest a reso if you're more than 2 people, even though turnover is pretty quick. Servers were all friendly and on their game.
Spanish latte was pretty good too.
A good spot to grab a quick brunch/lunch. Found it a bit pricey for what you get but, I guess it's pretty typical London prices. This is indeed where the pancakes are.
Great tasting pancakes, and service. The waiters were very attentive, they heard some cutlery falling, and replaced it. We ordered the Apple pancakes, absolutely delicious. Same thing with the savory veggie pancakes, albeit the tahina sauce was a too salty. Their in-house made cream is amazing. Also, they have vegan option pancakes. They have a very nice outdoor area, and clean bathrooms.
Bustling brunch place near London Bridge. We ordered three pancake dishes and they all came delicious and fresh. Particularly noteworthy is Boulder, a stellar choice for vegetarians. Two complaints - food came noticeably slow; only one toilet in the restaurant.
Delicious pancakes (and fritters) with a generous helping of avocado 😋 I got the vegan pancakes which were surprisingly good as they were also gluten free (my expectations are low when it comes to vegan + gluten free foods). Would recommend!
Only issue was the extra poached egg we ordered for +£3 was perhaps a little too over cooked (as pictured).
The plating looked so amazing that I felt bad eating the pancake, it such a work of art! The pancakes were very delicious and filling too. The atmosphere is amazing and I felt great dining here.
I would definitely come back if ever I had the chance.
This is a busy and very small restaurant. We managed to book a table for around 10 am for an hour and half, but by the time we left, there was a big queue.
The pancakes were very delicious and tasty, the dough is light and soft. Fresh ingredients.
There is a good selection of savoury and sweet pancakes for all kinds of tastes.
The service is quite efficient, but at one point felt rushed what is understandable due to the big queue. It is not a place where you can just stay.
Overall was worthed the visit.
The place was amazing. We already had a reservation and been seated very fast. The place isn’t that big but the service is perfect.
🥞
The pancakes themselves are good. We got a savory and sweet pancakes. The pulled beef pastrami was the winner, the brisket with cheese was the perfect combination for sure am going to order it again. For the sweet we hot the hummingbird, just ok the pancake itself was ok but the toppings wasn’t compiled well specially the pineapple. Next time will try something else.
☕️
The coffee is good nothing special. But the tea wasn’t good.
Really nice lunch/brunch spot. Savory beef pastrami pancake was super tasty.
Service was on the whole pretty good. No tables, but I only had to wait a short time for one to become available. A little slow to take our order, but generally good. Would come back, thanks 🙂
Wow. Great food, reasonably priced and great options. Vibrant upbeat atmosphere, clearly very popular so worth reserving ahead of time. Staff were chatty, welcoming and friendly. One minor complaint is that our food took a very long time (nearly 45 mins!) while others around us who came later were getting theirs a lot quicker!
