Came here for lunch with a work colleague just by chance, was really busy and we didn't have a reservation but they managed to sit us upstairs. I had the seabass red coconut curry (doesn't come with rice) so I was advised to order chips with it to dip in to it (bit random), the curry was £19 on its own and when it said large plate it was literally a seabass fillet on some chopped up carrot, a few peanuts and a sauce. The chips were nice but not sure they really go! Bill came to £40 (they put service charge on), for my main plus half the chips and half a bottle of prosecco. I feel this is really expensive for what it was. I wouldn't say it was a "large plate" of food. Don't think I would come back. The menu is not very big either.

Very beautiful space, wait staff were attentive.. I must have drunk 3L of water cause it just kept getting filled up! We just had a few drinks and a small bite. I liked it but it's probably a little too expensive and smancy feeling for what it is.

Caravan Exmouth Market is the original branch of the expanding Caravan cafe brand (there’s another in Kings Cross) and is another of those “Australian” style cafes which focuses on great coffee, breakfasts and a range of appealing all-day options.

From Student to Chef. For starters with the paté, I used the bread I had, cut off the crusts and then sliced through the middle to create thin wafer type pieces of bread. These were toasted and used to scoop up the paté. Therefore, I became a gourmet chef. With the Steaks, I cooked once at room temperature, I seasoned as a chef would and cooked the steak medium rare, just as I like it. See, you do not need to go out of your way to make your partner feel special. The rest of the meal was all Waitrose- for which I thank them. The sides of fries and veg were stuffed into the oven and cooked and devoured. To end it all, a delightful salted caramel tart. This is value and is great for students, for couples, for singletons, for anyone. All of the food above and in addition, a bottle of red wine too. I love going out to restaurants as anyone who knows me will tell you. However, I also love to cook and appreciate value. £20 for two for an evening out, is unheard of, putting in extra effort to cook is priceless.

As a food blogger, pictures are vitally important. I have tried to improve the quality on mine, because i realise they are what capture the readers attention.Matthew Draper, who i used to work with many years ago, is someone i have been following on Facebook and Instagram and the quality of his pictures are really inspiring. For this reason I decided to Interview Matthew. I wanted to understand how he now has over 1000 followers on Instagram, won awards and what makes a good picture. Exmouth Market is a favorite haunt of mine due to the abundance of reasonably priced restaurants offering well prepared cuisine.

My usual Italian restaurant was operating at full capacity on a weekday evening, and it looked like at least an hour long wait.

We were a group of four, and not feeling up to a long wait, headed off in this direction and found Caravan equally full. While we were waiting hesitantly at the door, a whirlwind of a waiter named Miguel materialized before us, and greeted us pleasantly and in a moment, had cleaned up a table and seated us comfortably.

We ordered a bottle of Tempranillo, and settled down to peruse the menu, after ordering a starter to share, which was the Blue Cheese and peanut wontons with soy sauce, which arrived shortly and was excellently prepared, and tasty by itself. The sweet soy introduced a bit of sweetness, but also made it just a bit over salty.

We were served a taster of yogurt with sumac and sesame, which was a combination of ingredients I had never tasted before. It was an excellent marriage of flavours.

For the main course we ordered the Dill cured Salmon with horseradish cheese and sourdough crumb. The softshell crab with kohlrabi, peanuts, cashew nuts and nuoc cham, and the Pan fried Duck Liver, with sauerkraut, brioche and coffee red wine sauce.

The mains were exceptionally good with a blend of new and unusual flavours. The only defect I found was that the connective tissue in the duck liver could have been trimmed out before cooking. It introduced an unnecessarily chewy and unpleasant texture to an otherwise well prepared dish. Several portions of bread and butter were ordered to accompany the mains.

For dessert we ordered the Affogato, and Chocolate Beetroot cake with passionfruit icecream, and almond praline. They were both well made with just the right flavours without being overpoweringly sweet.

I topped this all off with a Cappuccino which was exceptional, and bursting with full bodied coffee flavour with not a hint of bitterness. So good that I was able to consume it without adding any sugar! I ended up ordering a second cup!

It was an unexpectedly peasant meal, combined with friendly, courteous and professional service. Gabby, and Miguel were warm and friendly, and need special recognition for rendering us exceptional service which was warm, friendly and inviting. Miguel welcomed us warmly, and Gabby attended on us diligently. We felt comfortable at this place, and look forward to going back.

Fusion Cuisine at its finest!

I have been addicted to Caravan brunches for some time, so my friend
(and fellow addict) and I thought we should see how the evening at our favourite place pretty much ever compared.

I was craving French toast corn bread the moment I walked through door, hallelujah corn bread was on the menu as a starter.

The meal was everything that brunch at Caravan is: surprisingly exceptional with an intense but perfect mix of flavours.

The staff are always amiable but this time a little lax and forgot our wine order. But this was no dampener. Caravan remains my most favouritist place, like, ever.

Lovely for a treat. Exmouth market is full of tempting restaurants - from upscale Moro to the decidely good value sushi, pizza and turkish restaurants. Caravan is well worth heading for if you are looking for something original - the menu is well thought out and unusual combinations will have you munching away merrily. It's not cheap, but worth it for a treat.

Great food, coffee, and cocktails.. I went here with my girlfriend some months ago, as we had heard it has some of the best coffee in Great Britain. It lived up to that, and more. Finding filter coffee is difficult enough already, but Caravan goes above and beyond and tastes like awesome.

Not only is the coffee amazing, the food is amazing. Simple plates - like avacado on toast are garnished with just the right spices to call to the full-bodied, creamy avacado. The sourdough reminds me of San Francisco, and espresso of Italy (actually, better!).

I make a point of going to Caravan every time I'm in town, as well as bringing friends there.

Providores quality comes to Exmouth Market. Excellent service, perfectly balanced mojito and very tasty food. Worth ordering 5 or 6 small dishes between 2 (very memorable lamb, pork bun, tomato+chilli soup), good New World wine list and delicious desert (superb sorbet, rich chocolate etc.). Didn't try the coffee, will do next time. Really looking forward to going again.

On Saturday morning I met a friend for brunch at Caravan. It’s a great little place in Exmouth Market and the menu features a take on the classic fry-up as well as a few unusual goodies. I had never been before but it lived up to the positive reviews I have heard – plus the sun was shining so we got to eat outside. No pictures as I’m still a little self-conscious about getting my camera out at the dinner table, but my friend had the fry-up (two friend eggs, bacon, roast tomatoes and soy mushrooms on sourdough toast) and I tucked into a mackerel, potato and roasted tomato omelette with saffron aioli. Our verdict? Delicious, and really filling. We spent the rest of the day walking around town, trying to work it off. I’m starting to become a coffee snob, visibly turning my nose up after a sip of coffee from a certain high street chain. I never used to be like this, but I’ve had a lot of great coffee recently and you start to notice the difference. The flat white at Caravan though was pre

The flavour combinations were spot on – meaty lamb, fresh mint, tangy tomatoes and sweet gnocchi. The Barnsley chop was cooked to perfection – soft pink meat and crispy fat round the edge. The mint sauce was some of the best I’ve ever tasted.

Loved the Squid Pancake, a Japanese style pancake served with mayo and okonomiyaki sauce. The Cornbread and Chipotle Butter and the Sweetcorn with Teriyaki butter were great. The Pickled Mackerel was also a stand out. Liked the sharing plate, nice falafel, eggplant relish, hummus and merguez sausage but could have done without the pickled carrots. The salt beef fritters were too dry, the accompanying beans with mustard dressing also didn't do it for me. Forget the Pork filled Gypsy Bun, thick, hard pastry with dry pork, very disappointing. The staff are a little to chummy with each other, dancing about and faking that they really like each other, it felt a bit like Empire Records at times but no one was as hot as Liv Tyler.

Caravan is daring, innovative and has great variety without trying to do too much or being spread too thin. The wine list is serious, they have Camden lager on draught and I can’t wait to return with some friends one evening, and try more of their zanier dishes; using espresso mole, cassava and of course the tempting fried chicken with watermelon, amongst many others. Bravo!

I shared the baked eggs for two and they came served with a tomato and pepper ragout and greek yoghurt with chorizo (£18). This was a very filling and satisfying dish, with the runny egg yolks, creamy yoghurt, flavoursome chorizo and ragout coming together, to produce some kind of awesome. As it was quite a gloopy dish and didn’t come with toast we had to order some for an extra £2.50 which seemed a bit steep.

They’re blooming at pimping out dishes you’d make at home, pushing them way beyond the boundaries of what a Sunday morning hangover normally allows you to create. They pimped out beans on toast by serving homemade chilli beans, a chunk of melted goats cheese and a runny fried egg (£9). I couldn’t resist the chorizo so added a side of the stuff for a slightly expensive but very worth it £4. T

There is definitely a whole lotta food love in this place, it's a journey of many cultures, gastro-clashes and culinary mash-ups if there ever was. And it all works, which is why my heart (and tummy) swells with excitement when I recall our visit to this Exmouth Market newcomer. How can I describe it? Since identifying the tapas trend in London, I see it going a step further. Caravan has a distinct influence of Chinese and African influence to the little and wholesome dishes it churns out. It's real talent to bring a unique take on such well-known and familiar dishes. Too many places in London have tried to "re-invent" a cuisine, only to d

I went to Caravan after hearing rave reviews about its brunch menu. The place has very much a bar feeling about it and as a setting is perhaps slightly more suited to the evening, although I haven’t tasted the dinner menu.

Food- The food here although tasty erred on being slightly style over substance. The menu is exciting to look at with offerings such as French toast with bacon, maple syrup and avocado, spicy breakfast tortillas and pancakes as well as the usual breakfast fare. Perhaps I ordered wrong, but I was disappointed with my smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on toast; the one slice of toast which held the dish together was tiny and the scrambled eggs themselves were mediocre so did not make up for the small portion size. My friend had the French toast which was a lot more impressive, as it came with American style bacon and maple syrup that looked and tasted great with the accompanying guacamole.

I will definitely return for dinner or drinks as the alcohol menu was extensive and filled with delicious looking cocktails.

Caravan! Great little place at the corner of Exmouth market. If exmouth market was a cake, Caravane would be its cherry. I dont want to get too excited about this place but i would say its definitely worth the trip. Best time to go is in the morning or early afternoon as they serve a great brunch menu. I went for the eggs and salmon, a fantastic light dish. very simple. Service is great and very friendly. Little touch that caravane has is the blankets for when you sit outside. one can only respect that. Interior atmosphere and space is also very cosy.

my advice: if ever on exmouth market, don't hesitate.

Probably my favorite brunch spot in London. The food at caravan is divine. The baked eggs with vegetable ragout, mint yogurt and sourdough bread is spectacular. For those with a sweet tooth, the orange infused pancakes are also delicious. This place is laid-back and unpretentious; the focus very being the food.

The interior is nothing special; the kind of industrial chic that is so common especially in east London now. I often sit outside even during winter to beat the queues for a table inside and the staff provide you with blankets. This along with a hot chocolate or coffee usually keeps me warm enough.

The staff are super friendly and efficient. I would recommend this place to everyone. Perfect for weekend brunching.

With wide floor to ceiling windows overlooking the food stalls of the bustling Exmouth Market, Caravan Exmouth Market is intimate and has an element of industrialism with its interesting furniture and mugs and units. After spending a weekend in London, on the last morning, we decided to have breakfast at Caravan Exmouth Market. It was very close to the bus stop, so perfect location for us. The staff greeted and welcomed us, offering to keep our luggage on a side while we're at the table. It was a great experience, lovely and perfectly done poached eggs. I believe they came from a farm, because they were very nutritious and even it looks like a small portion, together with the sourdough bread, it kept us full for a long while. A really cosy and chic place to enjoy a meal.

I’m not a “brunch” person, but I tried this place out since it’s popular for brunch and ordered the bacon chop, bubble and squeak fritters that comes with poached eggs. It was simply incredible. Bacon was cooked to perfection and the fritters went perfect well with it. I like how the menu states the calories. Good service and strong cocktails. Can’t comment on the ambience because we sat outside. Would definitely re-visit. Edit: I re-visited Caravan for brunch and ordered the fried jalapeño cornbread. It tasted pretty good, but nothing compared to the bacon chop (didn’t look as nice either). I still stand on the 5 stars though.

This establishment is concerned more with looks than taste. I ordered the breakfast, however the eggs were overdone and the toast was soggy. I got a small amount of ketchup -- like a tablespoon. Then i was charged £20. PLUS a tip -- they didn't ask, they just added it. When you have to pay £20 plus tip for a less than perfect breakfast then something is wrong. Having said that, the food was above average and the service good. This place has a high rating on google. Like supposedly one of the best in the City. i expected more.
