Amazing food and lovely service - been there twice and planning my next visit already. Good tip - if you order Koba specials platter and don't fancy one type of meat you can ask the waiter to replace it with something else, they will be happy to do it e.g. chicken to pork ;)

This was my 3rd visit and the food and service was excellent as the previous times. We had starters and then bbq meat for mains which was cooked for us by the table. Delicious! The desserts were delicious. Tasty and refreshing after the full flavoured food. The ice cream moochis were very delicious and so were the ice creams. Will definitely return again and again...

Decent lunchtime bimbambop at a reasonable price ~£9. Had the traditional Korean soup, which the usual broth with some meat chunks and veg. Fine nothing amazing but not bad at the price

Bimbambop was better than average, filling, hot, spicy enough, plenty of flavour.

Inside nice decor and the like. I'd be suspicious of ordering wine by the glass though. Looks like bottles stay until they are finished

Would go again

£17 Korean soup, lunch bimbambop, coke and service

I used to work just off Oxford Street near Fitzrovia, where a plethora of underrated eateries (used to and still) reside. Whilst Soho boasts some of the city’s trendy and talk-worthy spots, restaurants around the “Noho” area don’t really get the marks they deserve. Koba, a Korean BBQ spot, is one of these places.

The cutesy restaurant at the back of Soho impresses with friendly attentive staff, good food and an authentic Korean feel, giving an experience worth remembering. The restaurant has good reason for having a top reputation and a visit in a group is recommended to have a relaxed and enjoyable evening.

Koba offers a variety of Korean Barbecue delights. The lunch time menu is affordable and includes all the usual accompaniment you'd expect. Everything is prepared fresh which is great but means service at midday isn't the quickest. I had the lunchtime beef barbecue which came with a small bibimbap (hot bowl rice and veg). The thing slithers of beef were delicious - they cooked in minutes. I wasn't a fan of the lighting in the restaurant as it was a little dark/dull. Although the food was good, I preferred the overall atmosphere and experience at SuperStarBBQ.

We haven’t had Korean food in a while so we decided to pay Koba a visit. A lovely Korean restaurant in Fitzrovia and we made a reservation incase they were busy. I enjoy Korean bbq’s because I like seeing food being cooked in front of me and plus it’s healthy (it’s grilled so it’s healthy right?)

Came here on lunchtime with a friend. The staff were pleasent and helpful. I ordered the pan-fried meat dumplings, spicy chicken & vegetables bibimbap with a side of kimchi. The food was excellent, fresh and full of flavour; sadly I couldn't find pics to post it on here. A must go place but be prepared to book in advance for an evening meal!

Really nice authentic Korean bbq in London. They cook the raw marinated meat in front of you. Not a lot of korean restaurants in London do that, but I like this is the best way.

I have only been here once but will recommend you go here for the Korean barbeque. The other dishes like jap chae, is only okay, you can find better elsewhere. The korean fried chicken is also only just okay. But the dish portions is big and the price is reasonable.

The bimbimbap is good too.

For drinks, order Ginseng tea of course!

As we've been told, the food was lovely! Great place to share food and try lots of different things with friends. However the crew are not very welcoming and we could have had a bit more indication about how to proceed with the food, as it is a bit unusual for non-korean people.

Great Introduction to Korean BBQ in London!. I'm an Asian who grew up in western Canada, where you can find some of the best Asian Restaurants period. I went to traditional Korean BBQ spots as a kid and grilling our own meats was my favorite. It was a great family dinner night.

Since moving to London I have yet to Experience Korean BBQ spots as there are few Korean spots here. So I went to the highest rated spot close to where I was going, which was Koba! Tucked away in Fitzrovia off of the craziness of Oxford Street, This cute, clean, nicely Decorated place was warm and inviting. The Staff are very happy, friendly and attentive which is a nice change from many places in London. lol.

i could tell the food was going to be good seeing that all the tables had reserved signs on them. We ordered the kim chi set, the lettuce and peanut sauce combo, with our Beef Bulgogi and or LA Short Ribs. The Meats where cooked on the grill by our servers in front of us. Great flavours and very good food. I would recommend this place. And as the 1st Korean Restaurant that i've tried, I hope they're just as good or better. Would come back again. Just enough for a dinner for two as well. Big enough portions.

Great friendly service, great food for a decent price. A++ Experience.

It's been a while since our family had Korean BBQ but Boxing Day seemed as good a time as any. Decor is clean and modern with the mother of all exhaust systems keeping your clothes (relatively) smoke-free. Starters were spicy beef soup (delicious broth and not too spicy), jellyfish (sweet and tart dressing, but lacking some texture), mixed namool and pajeon. The pajeon was delicious, crisp outside and soft inside with tender octopus. The assorted pickles were a little disappointing lacking the piquant seasoning and crisp texture I enjoy. The BBQ was however aromatic and tender. Yukwei and yulwe dolsot babimbap finished off our meal nicely. The former was some of the best I've had and the rice had taken on a good proportion of the crisp crust I love. A healthy 7/10 for me.

There wasn't really any doubt as to what cuisine we were going to eat for the letter K. I made a half arsed attempt to look for something else, but really let's be honest it was only ever going to Korean. The difficulty lie with which restaurant we were going to sample this wonderful cuisine and what to have. As none of really had eaten Korean food, apart from a couple of bits and bobs here and there, it was and well still is a bit of a mystery. Out of all the restaurants I'd read about Koba kept getting the better reviews for its bar-b-q, which really as a newbie to Korean food, I think this had to be a major thing on our collective first visit. The plush restaurant is very modern, lots of dark colours, moody lighting and a youngish crowd. The vibe was nice and easy, vibrant but calming. Between 6 of us we had quite a good selection of starters and 2 bar-b-q combo's. The highlight of the starters were the fried pancake and the fried chicken. The pancake was crunchy and crispy and was

We had an impromptu meal at the bar at Koba a couple weeks back.

Led by the excellent staff sampled a really tasty selection of Korean food. The pancake was excellent, as was the marinated beef and octopus. As you expect all cooked up for you by your assistant on the hot plate in front of you, wrapped in a big green lettuce leaf and wolfed down.

An absolute must try.

When my friend told me that he loved Korean barbecue and waxed lyrically about the food he at when visiting Seoul – I knew I had to take him to Koba. It was bit of a risk though since the last time I had been there was four years ago! So I wondered if it would be still as good as I remembered.

And it was! Dinner was superbly fantastic. The restaurant still has its casual buzzy vibe, with its hectic but always friendly service, and the food still as excellent as I remember. When we got there, we were so ravenously hungry that we skipped ordering appetizers and went straight to choosing the meats for the barbecue You can order various selections of marinated, raw meat like beef, pork, chicken and the waiter barbecues them right in front of you on a circular grill that’s in the middle of the table.

Korean BBQ Koba GinFizzGirl

We went a little crazy and ordered quite a bit: Duck with a sweet citrus sauce, Kalbi (marinated beef spare ribs), Beef Bulgogi (thinly sliced beef sirloin with vegetables) and Daeji Bulgoi (sweet and spicy pork belly). To go with the meat we ordered Pamoochim (sliced spring onion with chilli and vinegar) and Sagchoo (lettuce and soybean paste) and some rice. I then had the most brilliant time making little lettuce wraps of slightly charred yet tender flavourful slices of beef with dabs of the soybean paste and bits of salad. Each mouthful tasted divine. After a point, the lettuce was abandoned and I unashamedly ate the meat straight off the grill.

The highlight of the night was probably the succulent pieces of pork belly that were probably not the healthiest choice but oh-so-mouth-wateringly-melt-in-your-mouth good! The weakest link was the duck in comparison to the other dishes. In any case, all this delicious food paired with several shots of Soju, a Korean rice wine and some gorgeous green tea ice-cream for dessert made it a very enjoyable dinner.

I highly recommend Koba - I can't believe it slipped off my radar for such a long time. My next visit, for sure will be much sooner than 4 years! Go with a few friends, grab a drink at bar nearby before and get ready for a fun meal with some sizzling delicious Korean BBQ.

We made an impromptu visit here on a weekday evening. We did not have a reservation, but we were lucky enough to grab a couple of seats along the bench area at the front. As a starter, we ordered a mixed seafood pancake to share. The pancake was nice and crispy with a good mix of seafood. From the barbecue section, we ordered the Hankook Bulgogi (Korean marinated sliced beef) and Dak Bulgogi (sweet and spicy chicken) - both really well marinated and prepared fresh in front of us. We also ordered a couple of salad sides to accompany the meat.
And knowing how much I love rice, we also ordered a mixed seafood bibimbap to share - you just can't go wrong with this delicious signature Korean dish.
Service was very friendly and efficient, and overall we had a very pleasant evening.

Koba has been on a map of top Korean restaurants in London for a while. Too popular for too long? I thought it was totally running on its old reputation. How wrong was I….
The place is quite small. I was there on Tuesday evening and all the tables on the ground floor were taken. In the first room there is a bar, where you can sit and actually see how the dishes are prepared. Walking further into restaurant, there is a second room with just standard tables, with the barbeque station in the middle of each table.

This has been the worst Summer so far.

Normally by now I'm frolicking around barefoot and attending more barbecues than I can count.

It's now mid-June and I have barely gone to one.

This is an outrage on so many levels.

Luckily for you, I've got many alternatives; so we can have gourmet BBQ's together :P

One of my go-to favourite Korean BBQ Restaurant's is Koba.

He's located in Fitzrovia, hidden just off Tottenham Court Road.

Koba, isn't the largest restaurant but the high ceilings give it an airy/relaxing atmosphere.

So you can gaze up to the sky and shake your fist at the rain clouds.

YEAAH-O-METER

Bulgogi Beef - marinated sliced sirloin beef - £7.10 -

To be eaten with Pamoochim & Sagchoo - fresh lettuce, seasoned soybean paste & sliced spring onion with chilli and vinegar - £4.50

This was incredibly marinated, flavour was infused into the beef. So, infused that every bite needed to be savoured.

You know food is good, when conversation completely stops when you take that first bite.

BBQ bulgogi beef is exceptionally well wrapped with lettuce, then a layer of seasoned spring onions and a teasing drop of soybean paste. Don't over do it with the sauce, as the beef is just so orgasmic, you don't want to tamper with it's natural beauty.

Or if you're a purist - devour straight from the hot BBQ.

Beef Dolsot Bibimbap - Hot stone bowl raw beef bibimbap - £9.50

I always have to have raw beef dolsot bibimbap on the side whenever I go to a Korean restaurant.

It's simply glorious to watch the beef slowly cooking in the hot stone bowl.

I like to lash mine with a generous serving of chilli and mix it up.

Nothing says comfort like baked rice, with beef and crispy vegetables.

Service

Smiling waiters who cook your BBQ for you, while you watch with hungry eyes.

Super ninja service, so good that my glass is constantly topped up without me even realising.

For my first time in a Korean Restaurant I was very curious and, to be really honest, a little bit skeptical...
I went there with some friends and we took a Korean barbecue, it was just... delicious. The thin cuts of pork, beef, and chicken were fresh and juicy.
The dishes were also really good and the wine is affordable...

The staff is not as good as the food but it's the only negative point.

I was truly a good experience, I will surely going back and I recommend it to all of you.

If you have never experienced a Korean barbecue then this is a must! A fantastic experience and a very tasty meal. In essence you have a small metal dish in front of you wish a gas flame under neath. You then order a series of meat which are brought out and cooked in front of you. The waiters are very polite and will do this, although if you are keen to do it yourself, as I was this is acceptable also.

There is a wide selection of things on the menu, its good to go for a platter which gives you a variety of meats - although salted beef was my preferred option

They sell soju which is a lovely touch (a bit like saki only korean) its sold at 50p a bottle in korea so feels quite steep at over £10 here but I guess it is a novelty.

All in all great experience, can end up quite expensive by the time everything is totted up. I know there are many other Korean bbq places that are cheaper but kobu has a great atmosphere and decor that is worth paying that little bit extra for.

Brilliant lunch! We went first thing on Saturday. Very attentive staff and tasty food. Lovely decor and the vents worked very well to keep the cooking smoke away. My family really enjoyed themselves. We ordered a variety of appetisers (see photos) and had the BBQ after. We ordered 3 types of meat for the BBQ, along with lettuce and sides to make wraps. I recommend the ribeye, bylgogi beef and pork belly for the BBQ. Staff took care of the cooking and came back every now and then. We finished with some Soju!

Fantastic Korean BBQ restaurant. We managed to get a table without booking by chance after discovering the place on a Saturday evening. Staff are very welcoming and friendly. The food is of the highest quality with delicious dishes. The star of the show is the BBQ section on each table. Outstanding korean fried chicken (believe me I try a lot of korean restaurants in London and Im asian), Very good soup, pork bbq and japchae. All at fair price and friendly service! Authentic! The portions are less than normal serving in other korean restaurants, but not bad. I would say they make it up on quality and pricier ingredients. For example, not much noodles for japchae but very heavy on toppings and veggies which cost more. Would recommend

Koba is a modern and stylish Korean restaurant located in the heart of London's Fitzrovia. The restaurant offers an extensive menu of authentic Korean dishes, ranging from classic barbecue options to contemporary fusion plates. Atmosphere: The atmosphere at Koba is inviting and relaxed, with modern decor and comfortable seating. Service: The staff is knowledgeable and helpful, and the service is prompt and efficient. Food and Drink: The standout dish at Koba is undoubtedly the Korean barbecue, with a range of meats and vegetables that are cooked to perfection at your table. The beef bulgogi and the pork belly are particularly noteworthy, with tender and flavorful cuts that are marinated in a rich and savory sauce. In addition to the barbecue options, Koba also offers a range of small plates and sides, including the crispy and savory vegetable pancakes and the spicy and refreshing kimchi. The drinks menu at Koba is extensive, with a variety of signature cocktails and an impressive selection of wines and beers. Price: It isn't the cheapest Korean BBQ but you definitely get what you pay for! Overall, Koba is a great spot for anyone looking for delicious and authentic Korean food in London. The food is flavorful and satisfying, the atmosphere is inviting and stylish, and the prices are reasonable. Whether you're looking for a casual lunch or a festive night out, Koba is definitely worth a visit.

The food was very delicious and of great quality. What I was not a fan of is that they kinda grill it for you. I prefer when you decide yourself what to grill first, and so on. Obviously the couldn’t stay next to you all the time, so sometimes you flip food yourselves. I would like to do so by myself all the time. The chicken dumplings were very delicious, very soft and juicy inside. Wine was good. Place is very beautiful, but was impossible to have a conversation, as it was too noisy, maybe we were just not lucky and there were many loud people. Overall, I enjoyed the evening and would definitely come back for a korean bbq.

The food is good indeed, however the deducted start was more for portion / price. In many Korean bbq places, when you order the table bbq, they serve you many side dishes in small portions you can get refilled, Here however, they only bring sesame oil with salt and the other sauce accompanying h to e table bbq. You have to order everything on the side and it’s not very well portioned either. The portion of lettuce comes with about 6 leaves, so not many wraps for your bbq. Anyhow, the food was tasty and the place is beautiful, however for the e price I’d expect the table bbq to come with sides, so just be aware.

Nice and clean restaurant - sat at the bar as no booking. Good vibes, seemed quite busy, the staff was just okay, but the man making drinks was lovely, he seemed new or in training. I must say, tasting drinks before you serve them is a must ! We saw staff ducking down when trying - they shouldn’t have to hide when trying it, it shows professionalism when you try, hope you know this :).
