Loved the place.
The menu has so much to offer, that you cannot help but order almost everything.
The quality and quantity is amazing. Also the service provided is great.
As you would expect in Kensington, the restaurants are more on the fine dining side. With properties in excess of 1 Million, they certainly would not have a dive amongst their mews and town houses. Chakra is not on the High Street, it is not even on a side street. In fact, you need to walk down a side street, then through a mews, to another street. It is firmly in a residential area. With an absence of too much passing trade, it relies locals and recommendation.
In this little spot, Chakra could fail because of the reliance on word getting out and locals being kept happy with the offer. They do just that with a light Indian menu focussing on being ingredient led, as opposed to too much tradition. There are modern takes on dishes rooted in history, to bring it to the less experimental palate. For me, I love Indian food, whether its delivered to my door as a takeaway, all bold and heavy or in this restaurant delicate and forward thinking way.
For our Indian extravaganza we started with a salad of pomegranate, mango, papaya, coriander, spring onion and amaranth for Prisca. We also had an interesting lotus root with guar green beans, coriander, sprouts and almonds. I had my favourite gorgeous tandoori king prawns. A side of okra and also a creamy chicken and tomato masala. All of this was washed down with a dry Sauvignon Blanc.
The service was very informal in a space which was clean and contemporary. In the Summer you can dine in the little outside terrace. For its location, the menu is very affordable. I highly recommend this as your Indian choice if you find yourself shopping down on High Street Kensington.
It was indeed a memorable experience at Chakra, Kensington. The restaurant has beautiful ambience and serves mouthwatering delicacies. Really impressed by their service especially the manager, Darshan who took good care of us and ensure that we had a great time. I’ll surely visit this place again.
Just a small note, the restaurant seemed to busy during weekend..prior reservation is recommended.
The restaurant is cozy and food here is absolutely delicious. Service was impeccable. Would definitely recommend.
We had a fantastic family lunch.
The service and atmosphere was very authentic. Every item was freshly made (hence worth ordering everything in one go), was tasty and appreciated by everyone.
The place is fairly cosy so wouldn't recommend for groups more than 6 unless you hire the whole place.
Would definitely go back if ever in the area.
The restaurant is cozy and in a quaint neighborhood. The staff here are very friendly and service is great. Food here is out of this world, it's scrumptious, beautifully plated. Overall I had an excellent evening. Would recommend this restaurant.
Excellent service, very cozy environment and delicious food. Many vegetarian options as well. An absolute gem in the neighbourhood. Highly recommended.
This is a small restaurant in Central London. The food is fresh and excellent. Not too expensive and have a good small sitting place. I really liked the service and food was really good.
One of my fav Indian restaurants. Dishes are delicious and well presented. Nice atmosphere. Great for couples or friends.
What a fabulous restaurant! I organised a big group gathering - 17 of us - and was struggling to find a restaurant in Kensington that was happy to accommodate us. Darshan, the manager could not have been more helpful. We exchanged several emails and phone calls in preparation for the evening and he, together with Rahul, made us so welcome last evening. The menu selection we settled on was freshly made, vibrantly colourful and absolutely delicious - everyone agreed. We had the whole of the downstairs inside to ourselves which meant we didn't disturb anyone else and had such a happy evening. Darshan, brace yourself, we may be back! Thank you so much. Highly recommended!
Really amazing food in a beautiful restaurant. The atmosphere is very pleasant with very nicely decorated interior. The service is impeccable with very friendly attentive and experienced waiters who are always happy to help. All the food is delicious (there is a great combination of Indian classics and specialities) and portions are quite large but also great for sharing. Definitely recommend for smaller parties and the price is definitely worth it!!!
I went here as part of a pre-booked group so maybe we had a special deal, but ...
The food was excellent in terms of both quality and quantity. As a starter, for example I had a samosa in its own sauce with trimmings. Never had that before. Plus there were other starters.
Must go back sometime.
Small but excellent place for Indian food in Kensington. It was Saturday, we had a couple of little children with us and no reservation. They were very nice and gracious and decided to accommodate us even though they had a tight timeline. They were very helpful, provided good recommendations and every dish we tried, from the paneer to the lamb to the chicken, turned out to be delicious. Will be back for sure and recommend highly.
Chakra Restaurant impressed with some fantastic dishes cooked by competent Indian head chef Gulrez Iqbal.
Having said that though, while there were one or two dishes which we believe were as good as they get, the beverages simply didn't do justice to the place.
What really impressed us though in general were the tandoor dishes, so be sure to give these a go.

2018 review.
We are a group of people who are trying out all of London’s curry houses to find the best curry house in town. The curries were very good to be fair, the naan bread did let them down a bit and we weren’t so sure on the mini Cobras that gave him the benefit of the doubt. Lovely outdoor seating area, don’t order any vegetable curries without checking with the staff but in all honesty we weren’t sure if the stance knew what was going on themselves! They were nice though.
It is a quaint neighborhood spot with delicious food. I would recommend it...the service was great.
The remodel they recently completed is elegant and beautiful. We sat outside on a crisp fall evening and enjoyed so many delicious bites including the samosa chaat, tandoori platter, dal and fish moilee. I loved every single thing! Definitely recommend this spot for unique but authentic Indian cuisine.
Highly recommended. Great presentation of the food and really tasty creative dishes.
Staff attentive and polite. Great choice on the menu and prices relatively ok for the area. The location is somehow magical as well.
