Very good but only one of the dishes really blew me away. Cool looking space with exposed bricks and metal supports. Good acoustics even with music playing. The sound track was 70s funk.
We started with a self assembled sharing platter. The tuna prosciutto served with mayo and a little salad of cress and spring onion was the star. Lightly salted tuna, only slightly dehydrated served slightly chilled with mayonaise and lemon. The pistacchio sauccison was very good and sliced very thin. Pickled carrots with cardomon were a bit disappointing. Could have done with more cardomon, a touch of sweetness and thinner slicing for a finer texture. We also had beer bread which was a lovely texture which came with butter sprinkled with charcoal and garlic salt.
Of the substantial dishes the pork dollar with hispi cabbage and tasty little bech mushrooms. Good but a bit of a cheat because anything tastes good drenched in hollandaise. The cabbage was some of the best I have ever tasted. Blackened on the grill and extremely sweet. The star of our order arrived last. Neck of lamb served with a variety of lightly grilled heritage tomatoes, more heavily grilled red onion, very light slightly garlicky croutons made with brown bread, drizzled with a mild but acidic salsa verde. I need to figure out how to re-create this.
We had a wonderful night here catching up with friends. The quality of the service, food, bar and everything else was top notch.
Lovely chat with the gm at the end too.
We'll definitely be coming back!
hicce is a true culinary gem that left a lasting impression on us. The restaurant boasts an impressive array of dishes, but it's their fish and seafood creations that truly stole the show. One dish that stood out above the rest was the cuttlefish. It was an absolute delight, perfectly cooked and bursting with flavour. The cocktail selection at hicce is equally impressive, and we were blown away by their outstanding concoctions. The Pictish Martini quickly became a personal favorite, showcasing the mixologist's skill in crafting unique and delicious drinks. A special mention goes to our waiter, Ruth. Her exceptional service and attention to detail truly enhanced our dining experience. She was knowledgeable, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable time.
Lovely buzzy spacious building with friendly staff and a great menu. Food is very high quality. We shared a couple of boards and then large plates individually. Tomato salad is so simple but delicious!
Beautiful atmosphere and great food! We had dinner at the chef's counter and it was amazing, you see your yummy dishes in the making. Waitress very kind and lovely (I don't know the name but she has Moldovan origins if I'm not wrong). If in Coal drops yard, don't miss it!
Update 24th October 2023: Came for the lunchtime set menu and it was fabulous. We had a 12 midday booking on a Tuesday but it would be fine to walk in. For only £25 per person the food was amazing, the flavours were fresh and well matched. Service was lovely and attentive too.
Went for our first meal out after lockdown as a couple. Got the tasting menu with wine pairings as I was feeling fancy for a Monday night. I am a pescetarian and my boyfriend doesn't like fish. The tasting menu has a fish and a meat course. This didn't bother the team at all and they made us a custom menu! Great as neither of us are fussy, they give you the food with no choice what it is, the food was fantastic! Had a great and big tasting menu! Also has adequate heaters and blankets
Unbelievable food set in a beautiful modernised warehouse conversion. Light and airy, spaced out tables. Central bar and open kitchen.
Sharing plates beautifully presented. All dietary requirements can be catered for.
Good service.
Tasting menu extraordinary.
Bill was approx £75 a head without wine pairing, including soft drinks and service
Friendly staff and delicious food with a beautiful terrace. Lots of lovely sharing plates. Very nice place to sit and enjoy a good meal in the sun
Wow wow wow. Firstly the team are incredible, I was lucky enough to meet Ellie, Ethan, Ruth and also the general manager Justina (sorry if I’ve spelt that wrong!). The food was sublime and the wines that were paired were absolutely perfect. Can’t wait to come back! The private dining room was amazing, great for a group of 12 or more who want a bit more privacy!
I enjoyed myself. The end
Food was GOOOOD! Like the idea of sharing the food as would have missed out on so much.
Friendly staff and nice toilets :-) I like any place that provides hand cream after washing your hands.
The open space and decor is simple and gives a general feel good vibes. Definitely somewhere I would return and recommend to others.
Great restaurant with nice vibes.
The food was great and the service was good.
I found it unfortunately a bit on the
expensive side for what they offer….
An octopus plate for 26£ is way too much.
Cheese boards are even priced per cheese
That said I would definitely recommend the place for a dinner but I cannot see it becoming a regular place I go to
Now that's my kind of roast... And those deep fried brussel sprouts 🤤 highly recommended by the staff. I like their sharing concept which meant I could try more dishes and even had room for dessert.
Wheelchair access ✔️ Lovely little lift to take you to the dinning area along with accessible toilets.
Great food, great service. Ruth our server was amazingly friendly and very helpful. Highlights (other than Ruth) include the Tomato salad, Miso potatoes, Cuttlefish and tempura pineapple!! The small plate were a good size and the whole table was pleasantly shocked when the bill came. Very reasonably priced for the amount and quality of food we received10/10
I loved every mouthful! The flavours were exquisite. I never come out of a restaurant saying that I loved everything but I truly did. Beautiful contrasting flavours yet balanced. I researched many restaurants in the area and this menu was by far the most interesting and different. We were a party of 4 and we all loved it. The best restaurant I have been to in a very long time.
This might be the best roof terrace in London! We had the experience menu and it did not disappoint!!! Everything is so tasty, generous sizes, and the service has been fantastic! Would HIGHLY recommend the cuttlefish and the miso potatoes 😍😍😍😍 we had such a lovely experience here and can't wait to come back
