Cosy friendly ambiance, cheerful staff
Food is just AMAZING
Everything we ordered was extremely flavourful, cooked to perfection and spot on
The freshly baked mini breads make u feel that you are walking into a bakery
For starters we had parmesan eggplants which were amazing, and NOT oily
For entrees, we had steaks, pasta and grilled calamari ... again everything was perfectly cooked, Well seasoned and good portions
Overall it was a great experience
Dinner here with some friends who live in a he area..... and conclusion probably the best Itialian restaurant in Notting hill.... the pasta or main course - anti pasta it's all good ....
This is a lovely Italian neighbourhood restaurant in Notting Hill. Great atmosphere with lots of candles and rustic furniture. There's lots of Italians in the restaurant which is always a good sign. Free bread with excellent olive oil before you start your meal. I had truffle pasta which was to die for - great taste, high quality ingredients and cooked to perfection. The Tiramisu is also delicious and you get a huge portion. Prices are more than fair. Highly recommended!

Yesterday was not a health oriented day. Four of us went marching out to Notting Hill for an adventure. Italian was the order of the day. We got a table at Osteria Basilico. We were seated in the basement of the restaurant which was quite efficiently packed with tables of patrons enjoying lunches including a family seated next to us that was having a Christmas celebration. Service was speedy.
We ordered pasta and pizzas to share. The vongole spaghetti was deliciously balanced with tomato. The clams themselves were small but beautifully cooked. We had a Parma ham and rocket pizza topped with Parmesan shavings. The centre of the pizza was a little heavy with cheese while edges were light and slightly puffed.
We accompanied the meal with a light 2014 Nero d'Avola Fidelo. Unlike South African wines, many European reds are very light and perfect for the chilly day without being too heavy to pair with tomatoey seafood.
The meal came to £93.50 for four, including service charge. I'm told is moderately priced for a Notting Hill restaurant. We arrived hungry and left very happily sated.
Average Italian food in notting hill. I would recommend their sister company restaurant mediterneo. Their service was horrible. I wouldn't go there again.
Nice place for a slice of traditional Italiano. Atypical Italian service, accompanied by good wholesome food. One of a few places who offer carpaccio manzo the way it should be, rather than fobbing their customers off by serving bresoala. If it's there, do try the osso bucco - cooked very well oozing with flavour. Make sure you've booked in advance, as turning up on spec often leaves people disappointed. I prefer the tables upstairs, but either way it's the food you're there for.
Love this place. This is a timeless place. Consistently good Italian. Sometimes difficult to get in so booking ahead is recommended. Cozy downstairs (maybe tight for some) a true local hang out.
I feel like this quaint little Italian restaurants has been one of my best food finds in London.
Set extremely low key, it's a quiet little place you need to have a keen eye to spot, but by God is the food good. I felt like I was sitting in a little Italian restaurant in Italy itself thanks to the decor and atmosphere, as well as staff. The food was unbelievably good. I had the seafood linguine, which was superb, and my friend their pizza. Both were cooked to perfection. A must go to place in my opinion.
One of the best and authentic places to eat Italian food. Go early or make sure sure you book, they do two/three sittings an evening
Zagat London continuously brings up what’s best to eat in London… And here’s one place that I think they got it spot on
Osteria Basilico offers classic italian cooking such as freshly cooked pasta dishes, pizza and antipasti… Located on Kensington Park Road where there is Rossopomodoro just across the street, the place just screams you have to come and try
With a restaurant run by an italian family and his team.. The food surely won’t disappoint.. First up let see what I had
First, creamy burrata with parma ham… Deliciously creamy and soft cuts by the well cured parma ham, salty and flavoursome best goes hand in hand with the burrata.. And the mini rosemary bread the serve prior to the dish is warm and delicious
Next beef cappaccio with pesto, shaved parmesan and rocket.. Tender beef, parmesan and rocket adds that nice bite to the dish.. The pesto really compliments it all well, a first for me
When here, you have to get the truffle dishes.. Tonight i got fresh black truffles pasta with rosemary infused cream sauce and italian sausage pizza with truffles
Both dishes really made the black truffles stand out.. The pasta is cooked to aldente.. Perfect and the truffles they didn’t go easy on that.. The pizza was packed full of flavour but the downside that caused the dough to be abit too wet..
Last but not least, the grilled lamb chop with aubergines and rosemary jus… Tender, savoury lamb accompany by the soft and lightly charred aubergine is a perfect combination that let a hint of rosemary to come out.. Delicious..
Osteria Basilico for me is one of the best italian restaurants in town.. The price, the service, the quality of food is just right… Right in the perfect neighbourhood of Notting Hill
Bon Appetit
This is the favourite of a dear friend. I had the veal escalope which was phenomenal. This place has great atmosphere and wonderful staff. Highly recommended.
P.S. I think i will be forever known in this restaurant as the tourist who asked for Oat milk in his coffee…this was a substance I was newly introduced to and thought it was a good idea…in reality it made people laugh almost as much as ordering cappuccino at a time of day which is not breakfast…:)
Want to indulge in the taste of Italy without leaving London? Follow me on this journey of discovering the most delicious Italian dishes in town in this extraordinary and historical restaurant in Notting Hill . The location is very chic and the staff extremely prepared and kind . Super recommend!
This is our favourite Italian within the area, we’ve never had a bad meal or experience here. Any Italian restaurant that we go to is always compared to here and we haven’t quite found one that matches it in England. Food is authentic and service is great. Everything is great but in particular I’d recommend the Linguine allo Scoglio and the truffle pasta with rosemary on the specials menu. The truffle pasta is soo good we’ve often ordered two portions unashamedly despite their good portions… ! Downstairs has more of a quiet vibe, upstairs is a lot more of a neighbourhood feel. Upstairs gets booked up fast though but sitting downstairs isn’t a reason to not go, you have to try this place.
The food was great, wine the waitress recommended was gorgeous but the waitress who served us that day was spectacular. She was an angel.
(no other words to describe her)
It is shame that I can’t remember her name, but she was the only female who worked there on that day. She kept smiling us, explained the food well(it was all written non-English) and did her best to make our days. I still remember her smile and my kids talk about her.
Thank you! I will see you again. I bought the tickets to London for next year!
Great atmosphere, staff is trying to be helpful.
We had a reservation for a dinner and what a surprise, they did not properly record it, so we were waiting for 30 min to have a table at an area we wanted upstairs.
Meat was lovely however overdone for medium rare.
But overall this place still deserves a five star review. Keep the good work and hope you can make sure next time reservations are 100% taken care of.
Very fresh, good Italian restaurant. They can make some minor accommodation for you, thoughtful. I like fried zucchini especially for someone doesn’t eat zucchini much. Tomato was AMAZING!
The Tortelloni is amazing...Went back for a second time in the same week for it. Great atmosphere on the outside tables but in the same time, the guy that is always taking the outside tables orders is a bit rude. I thought he was just having a hard day on the first time I went but I think he is just like that, with everyone. So, if you very smooth about it and doesn't care at all, go for it. Good food good wine.
This is a great neighbourhood restaurant. It’s a lively atmosphere with dining across 2 floors. It can be quite noisy especially downstairs. Service is friendly and efficient and the food is very good. This evening I enjoyed some crispy squid with chilli dip, parmigiana and chargrilled sea bass fillet with steamed spinach which was really delicious. Very good recommendation.
A friend and I had a pleasant time at the restaurant last night. We chose seats outside because of the warm weather. The street is not a busy street at all with only occasional passing of a vehicle.
The staff was attentive and friendly without being intrusive. It became very busy with people queueing outside.
Quick service, large portions, well prepared and presented food. Prices come with the location, so no issues there.
Music was nice, though a little too loud for comfortable conversations.
It's certainly a place worth visiting.
Nice Italian osteria..
Friendly service and delicious food
Thanks guys
If it gets too busy on the streets of Portobello market, you can always hide in the lower section of the restaurant - extremely cozy place! The pizza and pasta aren't gluten free but other dishes can be altered to become gluten free (meat and fish options with very nice sides).
If you're in luck, they will have a courgette soup as soup of the day. Don't miss it, as the chef knows what he is doing and it is extremely flavourful, one of the best soups on earth.
Dog friendly Italian restaurant with excellent food, great welcoming, very efficient service … and the food like in Italy. Calamari is my favourite with prawn pasta and chocolate mousse. I will be back
