Was here for lunch and some non alcoholic cocktails, the food was amazing. Even got a tour of the barrel aged cocktail room. I would highly recommend visiting this lovely place with friends for dinner or even just for a few drinks.

I went to the Silk & Grain on Tuesday night for dinner with friends and it was a fabulous night. I loved the concept of the cocktails and ageing process to enhance the flavour, it really worked and my 'Gardening Leave' was delicious. A great new asset to Bank, I will definitely be going back.

Located in the heart of the city near the Royal Exchange is Silk and Grain. Split over two tiers with a ground floor bar and a first floor restaurant you can drink, dine or both! Silk and Grain specialises in top quality 35 day aged Scottish steak which is supplied by East Lothian independent family run business, J. Gilmour & Co Ltd. Mix the steak with an innovative cocktail menu and you have a winning combination. We loved the Panky Club Cocktail: Barrel-aged gin-based Hanky-Panky with raspberry, lemon, egg white. The staple of Silk and Grain are its cuts of Tweed Valley Steaks. However, there are a selection of other dishes on the menu ranging from Duck Confit and Rack of Lamb to Sea Trout and Smoked Haddock. We started with the Potato Gnocchi: Parmesan, girolles, truffle oil. This was one of the best gnocchi dishes I have tasted! The parmesan and truffle oil worked well and it was not as heavy as I envisaged. There are a number of steaks to choose from on the menu including Rump, Sirloin, Cote De Boeuf, Rib Eye and Fillet, as well as sharing steaks. All prices include the choice of any side (including sweet potato fries and truffle mac and cheese) and any sauce (including bearnaise and peppercorn). This makes a refreshing change from other competitor steak restaurants where you pay for the sides and sauces separately. The Fillet Steak was a fantastic cut of meat, cooked medium, with sweet potato fries – as you would expect, not fatty and all and naturally flavoursome. The Silk & Grain Burger: Brioche, pulled brisket, lettuce, Swiss cheese, smoked chilli mayo, fries was also impressive. We were asked how we wanted the burger cooked which is always a good sign – it was exceptionally meaty and we added bacon for extra flavour. A fantastic steak and cocktail menu at Silk Grain restaurant in the City with reasonable prices and a good level of service. Tip: Go for the Express Menu at lunchtime. Soup and sourdough plus 200g Sirloin Steak fries and peppercorn sauce for just £25 per person.

Delicious steak meal. We ordered all three sharing steaks with sides and there was not a single dud on the table. Lovely staff too. Highly recommended a visit.

Large table of 10 for my birthday, all with sharing steaks. Had a fantastic meal!! The waitress was lovely and gave us complimentary dessert wine. The steaks were beautifully cooked, warm bread with oils a nice touch on arrival. Will return absolutely no doubt and the group agrees! Thank you

Great and continent location which is around 5-6 minutes walk from Bank station. Inside is clean and the decor is modern and appealing. Once you enter, you are greeted by a waiter/waitress who then allocates you a table depending on the number of people in tour group. The drinks are well priced despite being in central and the bar staff are not only quick but extremely friendly. The toilets are located downstairs and are furnished to the highest of standards and are cleaned regularly. Overall a great place to have a social after work.

Tasty (if expensive) fare in a calm, friendly environment. The place was immaculate and the toilets were well maintained. I thoroughly enjoyed the chicken and black pudding terrine and would highly recommend it to anyone trying to decide on a starter. The steaks are great. The cuts were well chosen and cooked perfectly, from rare to well-done. However the prices were high, and I couldn't quite see where the extra went, compared with similar steak houses. If they were a little more competitive they'd get the extra star from me.

Dessert was brilliant, a bitter sweet Bailey's cheesecake with chocolate. Coffee was excellent, machiatto. The steak was average (for the price), I had a ribeye cooked medium. The service was good and the seating comfortable.

The food was really nice. I had a sirloin steak with sweet potato chips and the steak was cooked to perfection, just how I requested it (rare). Good atmosphere and friendly service.

Very good service. Wine selection was solid and food was extremely good. Only issue was sitting upstairs which was very warm in late January.
