Best authentic Indian food. Supportive staff. Lovely customers. Chicken tikka masala and chicken burra masala must try.
Loved the malai koftas that were so soft that they actually meted in your mouth.
Thanks for an amazing meal for myself & my Girlfriend ! Great food and great service ! Nice little tucked away venue too.... To get away from the crazyness of Knightsbridge city streets.
Have been going to this place for years and will always remain my favourite.
Fantastic food and service highly recommend
Had a birthday meal here with friends. Absolutely loved it!
Tasty food excellent service. Jambo akuna matata.
Never been to one as one is Indian but have never been to a restaurant as I am disable and in a wheelchair so even before living the nursing home I already got problems. But look at the pictures the food looks tasty. Hope everyone who attends yours restaurant will go home happy and full.
One of the very few place where you get North Indian Yummy Food Nairobi..
Delicious food and good service
Another Indian restaurant that I accidentally popped in when I felt hungry travelling. We had some good kulchas and egg curry. Simple and tasty. The ambience is also quite good with some creepers and indoor potted plants.
Really good authentic cuisine and great for spice lovers. Service was excellent. The staff were friendly and the ambiance really nice. Will definitely go back again.
We ordered popadums to graze on whilst waiting for our food- they were very oily but the green chutney served on the side was delicious! For mains we went for the chicken biryani and punjabi chicken curry with white rice. The biryani was good, the rice was very moist and a good balance of flavours. The curry was okay - I hoped for it to be more spicy. The sevice was quite slow, I even asked for tissues and was ignored, total was £60 for 2.
We were a party of 4 we have ordered quite a few dishes e.g. daal, chicken/prawn curries, biryani and lamb tikka.. Good flavours and good balance of spice in every dish. Reasonable pricing and good service. Not too exciting though.
Year's ago this was my favourite restaurant. It's not as good as it was back then, but still good. Their baingan curry is very good with lots of whole small aubergines. I would recommend this restaurant and enjoy it from time to time.
My first review in London. We were fully tired shopping & desparately wanted some good indian food. Our choice of Haandi was just to perfect. Ambience was good. Waiters r really courteous. Food was excellent. We ordered for paneer chilly, adraki aloo gobi, malai kofta, dal & some naan & paratha. Everything was very tasty. Overall a good experience 👍
This place is expensive. But the food is good. The Dum Aloo Kashmiri and Onion Masala Rice is a must have. There are two entrances. Go around the back. 😛
Ultra hungry for Indian food.
Found the closest place. And not at all disappointed. Best Naans I'd had in the trip. Also a decent chilli Paneer and malai kofta. Would recommend if you're in the area :)
Haandi is the brainchild of chef/ restaurateur Pradeep Mullick and is part of a chain of North Indian restaurants around the world with outlets in Kenya and Uganda. However, instead of just being a cheap chain, all London based chefs have to train under M
One of the most authentic and tasty Indian restaurants in London.
Just a hop away from Harrods is this beautifully set Indian restaurants. The interior isn't something to scream about but the food really is. It is mainly North Indian cuisine thus curries are abundant. The Daal Makhni and the Chicken Mackhni are incredible. But the star of the show by far is the black daal, which the waiter explained is stewed overnight for maximum taste. The naan bread is also incredible. The menu is extremely vast and allows you to choose from a wide array of North Indian tastes to refresh your pallet.
It was obvious that our waiter was almost infatuated with the food he was serving because he told us in great detail the length it takes for the food to come out that good. He explained that everything is taken into great measure, to maximise taste.
Overall, you can not go wrong when going to Haandi.
staff were excellent and food was very authentic and not too spicy. There is also a good vegetarian selection which is good as so many restaurants seem to forget when you go to a restaurant that someone you are going with may be vegetarian and also as a meat eater I also like to have a choice in vegitarian dishes. I would have given a higher rating but the chicken was a little rubbery so had to mark down for that. I could see the restaurant is popular with large groups also booking and it is located very close to Knightsbridge tube as well.
Haandi is a great place for good, authentic Indian food. The interior is quite old and not very extravagant, however the food is very good
The daal makhani is awesome, and similar to actual Indian food. I haven't actually tasted better daal makhani in London!
The service is good and the staff are very friendly, which always contributes for a good meal. The restaurant itself is very quiet, so I would definitely recommend it for a nice, relaxed meal.
Out of all the Indian restaurants in London, Haandi is by far my favourite. The decor is not extravagant or mind blowing by any means, but the food is just unbelievable. With a hint of Kenyan taste mixed with the Indian food, the dishes are unique and quite frankly, superb. I have not had such good Daal Makhni anywhere in London.
There are always the same two waiters in the restaurant. All the time, they are smiling. If you are ever craving Indian food, go to Haandi!
Haandi totally surpassed my expectations, don't be put off by the dingy entrance on Brompton Road, this is actually the rear of the restaurant but gives them a presence on the main street, proper entrance is round the back on chavel road.
The menu is of a good size but not exhaustive like many other indian restaurant, but this place has a twist as it originated in Africa.
We had a few things on the menu I don't recall names sorry but it was all fantastic, see pictures and the naan breads again were great.
Another pleasantly surprising thing for a restaurant in London was the friendly service from the waiters, even more being that they rounded the bill down to £60 from £63, a small amount but a huge gesture as you never get this in England, let alone London.
The best bit though was we got a doggy bag of what we couldn't finish and has the same again fir lunch the day after, yum.
I will be heading back, no doubt after the wife has been on a shopping spree at Harrods, which is conveniently opposite!!!
Haandi is located in the heart of Knightsbridge a few minutes walk from Harrods. The restaurant has a view of the Kitchen and a slight smell of perfume from a nearby Sisha restaurant. The waiters were friendly and knowledgeable of the Northern Indian menu ad also accommodating. The menu has less curries, meaning the ones with gravy and had more dishes without sauce. By request they added sauce into one of the vegetable dishes which made them a great compliment to our chosen meat dishes - tandoori chicken and lamb shish kebab. Our starter was also nice garlic mushrooms and the must have papodums.I will definitely go back since there is more of the menu I would like to sample.
Excellent North Indian Cuisine.
Comfortable and soothing ambience.
Sumptuous helping.
Courteous and personalized service.
One will never regret the visit.
I recently enjoyed a dinner at Haandi. The first impression is that the environment is a bit unimpressive for a restaurant of its price band. The service was good, with no delays. The curry fish that I chose was delicious, and despite being spicy, the curry was not covering the other flavors. Meat Samoussas where quite good too. Combined with a bottle of white wine it was all in all a dinner lovely dinner.
Nestled in the back streets of Knightsbridge, this Indian restaurant has a lot to compete with in the area, mainly high-end Indian dining, which London is doing extremely well at the moment. This restaurant does have its niche, it’s unusual, it specialises in north indian food but the restaurant is East African owned. They also have branches in Nairobi, Kampala and Sudan. The staff are extremely friendly and although it was quiet we didn't feel there was a lack of atmosphere. The kitchen is fronted by a large glass panel so you can watch all your food being cooked - it means no stale popadoms lurking on the top shelfs!
The restaurant was quiet when we arrived, only one other table. A warm welcome and the lovely aroma of fresh spices made us feel quite at home, as for some reason, I always do in an Indian restaurant. I have a real love for the food. The usual poppadoms quickly arrived at the table which were lovely and fragrant. The accompanying mango chutney, mint sauce and lime pickle were very good. I'm not a big eater of the pickled relish that most people leave when it arrives at their table, but I soon polished this one off.
We went with the set-lunch menu, priced at £12.95 for the vegetarian option, £13.95 for meat and £15.95 for seafood. It doesn't include starters, but instead a large selection and insane amount of food for one person to eat alone. The naan bread arrived, piping hot and fluffy with lots of flavour and a good coating of butter. The naan was in fact, almost as good as the one I had at Star of India, just round the corner in Kensington.
We then had two sides of rice, one for each set-menu. A plain steamed rice, which I think you can see from the photo how incredibly fluffy it was, and the south Indian pilau rice was much the same but instead bursting with subtle spices. I don't normally try to fill myself up on rice, but unfortunately I had no choice, as i didn't want to waste a grain!

This is a relatively classy Indian place in Knightsbridge. I had good memories of the food here, so it would be interesting to see how well this long overdue revisit panned out.
Rich food and nice atmosphere were the orders of the day. I went for the Chicken Chennai Special, a boneless (as usual) chicken dish with a coconut gravy. It was just as yummy as the menu had described and I hated having to share it, but not too much since almost everything we had ordered was really good too.
Price was okish; we all had eaten comfortably and hit 17 quid per head, which although isn't the cheapest Indian I've had ranks high in the value for money stakes as the food blatantly outclassed what these other places offer. My only beef was with the time taken to be served - we waited for almost an hour for the food; that was probably due to the size of our group more than the level of service itself.
If you're in Knightsbridge and you're looking for somewhere to eat you could pay much more for much worse. Recommended.
Came to this restaurant on a recommendation. Was not disappointed.
Food has that homely but restaurant standard. The flavours are right up there.
The staff are really friendly and attentive, regularly walking around and ensuring guests are catered for.
Great hidden spot that serves some delicious Indian food! The flavours of all the dishes were excellent! If you order something spicy, make sure you get raita to help extinguish the fires! The staff are friendly and helpful. Probably want to arrive before the evening rush to get a table.
Delicious food, well seasoned, and you can tell this meal was cooked with a lot of love.
Nice food. I like the chicken tikka masala and garlic naan the most! The Fork 50% off discount was amazing!
Exceptionally delicious Indian food, a large variety of choices (both food and drinks), really clean, cozy and pleasant atmosphere.
The service is of a high quality, waiters were super helpful and friendly.
It was also not very crowded. Definitely coming back next time I’m in London!
This restaurant is hidden away from the main street. The restaurant is lovely. Top customer service. Very friendly. The food is delicious. Very authentic. Reminds me of old skool Indian food. This is a must try. Prices are high due to the area. Great atmosphere.
Great food great service. The food over here has real Indian taste and flavors are so good. We tried their masala papad, paneer chilli, paneer makhni and chilli garlic naan. I visited them on my birthday and they gave me dal rice and masala papad for complimentary. This restaurant team really know how to treat their guest. If you're missing real North Indian food in UK do visit.
Service was warm and welcoming. The chicken methi, and lamb roganjosh were excellent. Flavorful, spiced just right. The garlic naan was made with real chopped garlic bits and not dried garlic powder. Overall an excellent experience.
The food was excellent but quite pricey. The menu on the door did not reflect the same prices indoors and you must order at least 10p per person.
An excellent curry, reasonably priced for London. The manager served us and was very helpful, explaining the different curries, and even adapted one to our taste. Highly recommended.
We got takeaway and albeit a bit pricey, the taste was absolutely amazing. This is one of the best Indian food we’ve had in the UK.
Very much recommended. Go for the dhaba chicken.
Excellent lunch and the service was fantastic. Thank you Sara! All her recommendations were delicious. We’ll definitely be back the next time we are in London
Very nice Indian restaurant. The food is Great & the staff is very curtious & polite. The service is prompt and the food is nicely presented.
Had lunch here after going to Harrods. Amazing Prawn Vindaloo! Perfect level of spice and it fills you up. Staff was attentive and friendly. Would definitely recommend 👌
Food was good, however please check with restaurant before coming if you have kids!
The staff were fussy
