Give these guys some business. Amazing food.
Anyone needing that taste of New York City, try this. You won't be disappointed. They make their own pastrami and the their own bagels.

Stopped in today for lunch with a fellow American expat - and what a lunch! Had an exceedingly warm welcome from Mark and all the staff, and the food - the food! - was outstanding. It was like being in my grandmother's kitchen again - only without the guilt and recriminations. ;) We'll be back, every chance we get.
Monty's Deli is just fantastic. The staff are warm, friendly and engaging and the building is both modern and quirky with some excellent touches which just add to a really great feel.
The food has never disappointed me and it didn't on Sunday. It's fresh and of just the best quality you will find.
Just try it, you'll soon be big Monty's fans like all who have tried before you
If you like salt beef and pastrami there's no better place in London.
Loved this place: great food, excellent wine and charming staff. Definitely coming back!
Wonderful food and a friendly, warm and welcoming atmosphere. Took our toddler for brunch and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating. Can't wait to head back to try more from the menu.
Warm and friendly staff. Amazing sandwiches and the lochshen pudding and blintzes were to die for.
Great deli!! My husband loves salt beef sandwiches and we were not disappointed. Lovely feel to the place as well.
this place is incredible with great vibes - hooked on the menu, presses all the right hamishe buttons #SALUTE
Great , good service and great food.
(No I don't know the owner lol)
Outstanding. The best salt beef sandwich in London
How did I not l not know of your existence up until now. I had the best pastrami on rye this side of New York. Will be back for more.
Our local deli, the salt beef sandwich and bagel is my favourite. Make sure you book a table if you are looking to do a Sunday brunch as it’s a popular place for locals. Great service and the owner is regularly there chatting to customers.
Great place. Enjoyed my Salt Beef Ruben and cucumber salad. Rye bread outsourced ( to their specifications ) otherwise, everything is done in-house, including the bagels that are terrific. Nice, friendly management and crew. Highly recommend.
Service is very attentive. Happy to see a Jewish deli returning to East London. Unless you are very slender ask to be seated at a regular table instead of a cramped booth. One of our party was quite pregnant and couldn't even fit into the booth so a chair was brought.
We started by sharing some potato pancakes and pickles. Latkas were gorgeous. Crunchy on the outside, fluffy on the inside and not greasy tasting. Served with sour cream and apple sauce. Pickle portion was a little small but a nice variety including cauliflower, cucumber, carrot, radish, yellow and red beat. Otherwise portions were decidedly hearty.
For mains I shared a Reuben. Very tender meat, generously filled, nicely seasoned. One of the hungry guys ordered the enormous Reuben Special. There was also an order of the 48 hour chicken soup with potato salad. The chicken broth was very intense but the potato salad was nothing special.
We weren't quite full and looked at the pastry booth for dessert. We shared a couple of wonderful bialys. Very crispy sweet caramelized onion in a bagel casing. We also had several cookies. Chocolate chip cookie, and chocolate filled and ground walnut filled rugelach were all very good. I liked the hint of salt in the background of all the sweet pastries.
A very filling lunch for 4 came to £65 including a half litre of house red wine, free seltzer and service. I would be very happy to return if I don't have to sit in an uncomfortable booth.
It's hard to find a good bagel (New York deli style) in London. This is THE PLACE to get one. It's traditional, classic, and the quality/freshness of the food is excellent. The bagels are baked freshly each morning.
I ordered the SMOKED SALMON bagel board, which comes with with tomato, capers, sliced red onion, cream cheese. My husband got the SALT BEEF bagel board. Both were outstanding choices and that's what I'd start with here.
Monty's Deli started life as a stand at a local London market giving birth to the existing location in Hoxton Street a year ago. The space is large and dominated by a long counter featuring American diner stalls, tables and booths. The decor is industrial and minimalist, keeping the original features of the previous tenant a butchers shop.
The menu resembles a Jewish New York deli including sandwiches and soups, egg & chesse, bagel boards, noshes and cured fish platers. They offer a sandwich of the day which is either a combination of brisket, pastrami, salt beef or turkey. The stars of the menu are the Reuben sandwich and Mensch. These guys bake their own bagels, cure their meat, make their own special mustard and even bake their own rye bread. The desert menu includes some all time favourites including baked chesse cake and blitzes. They have wine and beer on tap as well as a good homemade ice tea. Having ordered both the Reuben Special for £13 (with pastrami) and pastrami sandwich for £8.00 I was delighted with the consistency and flavour of the pastrami - peppery, juicy and tender. The best pastrami sandwiches I have had in London. The blitzes dessert was fresh, delicious and authentic. Disappointed the cheese cake was not available but a fresh batch was still cooling when I came in.
At Monty's, when it comes down to sandwiches, size does matter. My recommendation is to go for the Reuben Special that comes with 250 grams of pastrami or salt beef for £13.00. The standard sandwich comes with only 150 grams for £8.00. While more expensive the Reuben Special is better value for money. While still pricey for a sandwich it isn't comparable to any other pastrami sandwich in town for the exception of the Brass Rail at Selfridges' food court. The service was friendly, efficient and passionate about the food they sell.
My only suggestion for improvement to the owner is the consistent ratio of sauerkraut to meat on the sandwiches. The last time I visited and ordered the Reuben Special the sandwich contained 50% sauerkraut and 50% meat. At £13.00 I expect 250 grams of meat not less not more.
Monty's Deli serves amazing pastrami sandwiches in a relaxed friendly establishment. Worth a visit if you are a fan of NYC deli food. Having visited twice within 48 hours I can happily confirm Monty's is both style and substance when it comes to pastrami sandwiches and NYC deli food.
Salt beef has never tasted so good! I went here on a quiet Easter Sunday, really great service and relaxed American diner feel to the place :)
I got the salt beef hash, which was absolutely delicious, every element of the dish complimented each other and the salt beef was unexplainably good, you have to go try it to see what I mean!
I went with my family, who got a combination of different sandwiches which were all hits! The side order of chicken wings were exceptional, and came off the bone so easily!
I was not a huge fan of the lemon drink, it was too sweet for me and the cheesecake for dessert was nothing special in comparison to the main dishes.
However on a whole, the meal was great and the people were lovely!
Great Reubens are served here! I got the special Reuben with Salt Beef and Pastrami. It was really tasty. The meats were succulent and tender. The sauces worked well in the sandwich.
The fries were also great as they were the crispy.
The servers were attentive and the food cane out quickly. Although, it wasn't busy when I was there.
Tasty & terrific! We love everything about Monty's... Chopped liver, potato latkes, salt beef, pastrami, lokshen pudding, the list of delicious dishes goes in. Be sure to try everything once to find your favourite dish. Yum yum!
Went here because it was number 2 on Timeout's top 100 dishes of 2017, the Reuben sandwich. It did not disappoint! Went on what I thought would be a quiet day but it was packed. I would recommend booking definitely. There is a selection of seating at the counter, on a table or in a booth. Interesting old decor as it used to be a butcher's, the friendly staff told us. The food is great, really filling. Only thing is it's a tad pricey for a sandwich in Hoxton but that's just my opinion. Will go back after payday.
Heard about this place new york style jewish deli in Hoxton. The place is quite big, decor is pretty decent with booths and counter seating. Service was nice and friendly. Not a huge menu. The Latkes were ok but nothing special, the chicken wings were good. The Reuben sandwich was one of the best I've had in London.
A truly great Jewish Delly , meats are tasty food is amazing and the staff are just great. This is genuinely a great hidden jem. And I really recommend this place to anyone in London.
Friendly staff. The wait is worth it. Both the Salt Beef and Pastrami just melt in your mouth. I've had the Pastrami at Katz Deli (New York) and this comes close..especially considering that Katz has one of the best Pastrami in the world.
Although the sandwich is their star, make sure you try the other stuff on the menu too! We sampled a few including the bagles and they were also very tasty!
Straight forward menu. Enjoyed the Reuben, Mensch and Smoked Turkey. Cheesecake very light and delicious. Will definitely return.
So I went there with high expectations after reading they had the best pastrami in London. I have been missing pastrami since I came back from New York last year so was really looking forward to it maybe too much looking forward to it. Truth is it decent and good value for money (except the egg bun which is expensive for what it is). The area is nice especially on Sunday and the staff is friendly. But best pastrami in London well if that is the case I am doomed. All in all I would say it is a good place to go for brunch but next time I will go for the latkes or the lox belly and leave the pastrami alone to avoid disappointment
We came here to try a Reuben having heard it’s the best one in London and being an avid lover of the classic sandwich. The deli itself is standard industrial chic fare with some quirky additions such an old meat cutting machine and some great illustrations of the food fare. Overall a cool feel- I particularly like the old style minimalist booths- each sponsored it seems by a person or persons there named.
The service was quick and friendly without being invasive and we promptly ordered two Reubens (with salt beef although pastrami is an option- not in my book), some latkes and some filter coffee. The place wasn’t overly busy yet the food wasn’t overly quick, due I imagine to the latkes being cooked fresh. I loved these crispy golden little bites of heaven served with thick sour cream and smooth apple sauce. Very successful. The Reuben itself wasn’t cheap at just shy of ten pounds but was deceptively filling as sandwiches go- I had to bag mine up and take half away. The Russian dressing and sauerkraut were both fab creamy and sour opposing and supporting each other as they should but the real star was the salt beef which, cured in house, was thickly sliced, generously layered and fragrantly But gently spiced (with spices not spicy as in heat). The bread was also tangy and crisp- gently fried as it was. The coffee was very bitter and had to be heavily sugared which in itself lent itself to the New York feel of the place. Overall, a fab experience and we will back- the question is whether we will reorder the food from today or try some of the other things on the simple but clearly expertly crafted menu.
Man, a legit Jewish deli in East London! I've been complaining about the lack of sandwiches in London for so long, and this place does not disappoint! Tried their Reuben (with pastrami) and the Braised Brisket - both were fantastic. Highly highly recommend trying their pastrami, as it was cooked to perfection. The first bite sent you into this kind of food-orgasm-coma where you had to kindly remind yourself that you're in public and you should probably not be making noises like that.
The owner and the staff were super friendly! Things were a bit slow but only because it was their first day open - every business has kinks to work out on opening day. Totally worth the wait, and prices are on average with other places in the area. Will definitely be going back!
Nice place to have some NYC classics. Obviously not as good as Katz in NYC but I think best option for pastrami sandwich in London. The chicken soup is good too.
Great vibe, suggest booking if you're want one of the booth seats. The food is delicious and prepared freshly right in front of you. The Rueben special was perfect comfort food.
Went to their outlet at The Kitchens at Spitafields and was very well pleased with their pastrami bagel. Their pastrami is deliciously memorable and their bagel is just how you’d want a good NY style bagel.
Hands down one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. Everything was on point. The bagels will have me coming back on the regular.
Fast becoming our favorite local joint. Great food! Longed for a Jewish deli for ages and now we don't have to go across the Atlantic!
