The vegetarian maki rolls, tofu steak, sizzling mushrooms and rice are all great choices at Nobu. They great every guest with a loud group welcome in Japanese called Irasshaimase. The bento box and their homemade lolipop deserts are amazing as well. Great service/ ambience.

This is my first first to a Nobu and I quite enjoyed it. Nice bright setting with plenty of natural light, service was great and the food was delicious. Everything was beautifully presented and looked like the chefs had given thought into the dishes.

Nobu Park Lane is not quite as good as Nobu Berkeley mostly owing, in my experience, to the poor acoustics and oversized tables that make conversation difficult. Having said that, it is still a fantastic night out and reliably good in terms of food, drinks and service. I highly recommend the lychee martinis (although all the drinks are good) as a pre-dinner warm up. On the food menu, the have a wonderful selection of black cod (also the miso is still my favourite), soft shell crab tempura, yellowtail tuna sashimi with jalapeƱos and pan fried Dover sole are all on my 'must have' list.

So while not as good as the Berkley Sq one, they have some fabulous treats organized for you. Black Cos comes in more varieties than you can imagine- and not just in Miso Sauce. Why would anyone even want anything besides the Black Cod in Miso Sauce is beyond my comprehension. Their pan fried Dover sole is divine and soulful! You are likely to come across a lot of diners here who are repeat customers- why wouldn't they be with a kitchen like this.

Nobu Old Park Lane, as well as its sister restaurant on Berkeley Street had previously held a Michelin Star for a long period of time before they were both demoted in the 2014/15 guide. I wonder how much that demotion has actually impacted on theirĀ business. Judging on our recent visit on a Saturday night, I would guess not very much. The restaurant was packed with young, hip and trendy with girls in outfits so skimpy you wonder if their intention was to indulge in naked sushi. Then again, maybe I am turning into an old foggy. The original Nobu London opened in 1997 and it is a testament to the brands power and unique food that it remains relevant in todayā€™s fickle, trendy dining scene. The website does not advertise it very well, but the restaurant is located in the Metropolitan by COMO hotel on Park Lane which location provides a lovely backdrop if you are lucky enough to snare a window seat with views of Hyde Park.

I really look forward to my lunches and dinners with Angie, she's one of my favourite bloggers and someone that I really look up to; she's also a whole bunch of fun and knows the best restaurants in London.Ā . Pretty good recipe for a perfect bloggers lunch date if you ask me. Add the fact that we had decided to go to Nobu, Old Park Lane for the London Restaurant Festival menu in association with Bookatable and I knew this was going to be a hit!

I remember when I was younger the idea of eating raw fish seemed quite strange and at that time it wasnā€™t hugely popular in the UK but in my late teens eventually sushi boxes started to take the place of sandwiches, Yo! Sushi became a regular haunt and I started to fall in love with Japanese food. My sister was my partner is sushi-crime and we loved the fun of the Japanese ā€˜Kaitenā€™ and sharing selection boxes from Marks & Spencer and other high street places. But soon our fondness for sushi rolls meant we wanted to try the real deal. Back then there wasnā€™t the plethora of sushi restaurants in London that there is now but we set our sights on the very bestā€¦Nobu, Old Park Lane. Once there we clumsily held our chopsticks and we feasted on the freshest succulent sashimi, marvellous maki rolls and crisp shrimp tempura.And then the black cod arrived, the delicious flesh of the fish marinated in miso, had a sweet, buttery taste on the tongues of us young sushi novicesā€¦it was incredibleā€¦that was itā€¦we were hooked. Iā€™ve now revisited Nobu Old Park Lane many times, always remembering it was the first time I ever had proper sushiā€¦But Nobu has become a bit of an addiction for me and not only do I also love the Berkeley Street branch in London but Iā€™ve actually visited Nobu restaurants on four different continents. My favourite being Nobu Malibu, a beautiful open restaurant where you can sit nibbling on edamame beans whilst taking in a stunning view of the ocean.

It was my first visit to Nobu and even though I had high expectations I was impressed. The quality of the fish itself was excellent, the service was good and even though it was a Thursday lunch time there was a nice atmosphere.

Honestly, I think the decor was a bit bare and could do with an update.Ā

We had the Bookatable set menu for London Restaurant Festival, and as such we were limited in what we could have, but based on the quality of what I had I really would love to go back; I'd also really like to visit the Berkley Street restaurant, too.

It would be terribly patronising for me to even attempt at reviewing Nobu ā€“ arguably one of the most famous and loved Japanese restaurants globally. Instead, Iā€™ll just list a few reasons why itā€™s my personal favourite over and above all others.

1. The vibe. A trendy but versatile space, Nobu Old Park Lane is appropriate any time or day of the week, for smaller or larger gatherings and for dressing up or down ā€“ it totally depends on you.Ā
2. Tofu Steak. Pan-seared tofu with Nobuā€™s anticucho sauce or teriyaki ā€“ I prefer the spicier undertones of the former. If youā€™re a non-veggie and reading this with a smirk, donā€™t knock it until youā€™ve tried it. Vegetarians are spoilt for choice with wholesome, hearty dishes at Nobu ā€“ even salads pack in a punch. Key recommendations include the mushroom salad, spinach salad, asparagus in dries miso, tofu tempura (to be dipped in the creamy spicy mayo) and grilled aubergine coated in a sticky sweet miso and garnished with sesame.
3. South American twist. Nobuyuki ā€œNobuā€ Matsuhisaā€™s short stints in Lima and Buenos Aires in his youth clearly left a lasting influence, as Nobu serves up fusion fare with flair. Peruvian dishes, flavours and seasonings feature prominently, with menu items centred around tiradito, ceviche and anti-cucho.
4. The view. Okay, so Nobu doesnā€™t boast the sweeping vistas offered by the formidable new crop of restaurants towering over the city. But itā€™s worth grabbing a table by the windows overlooking Hyde Park, for a whimsical view of the sunset during summer months. The colourful lights of Winter Wonderland are equally enchanting later in the year.
5. Chocolate Bento Box. Meltingly gooey flourless chocolate fondant served with green tea ice cream. Not only does it deserve a mention, it deserves a category of itā€™s own.

Of the four Nobu's we have been to, this one was the worst. No vibe, no music, all white and bright. The food was tasty, as one would expect, but not the usual whole experience we are used to. Go to the other Nobu in Mayfair, a much better overall experience.

Before we moved to London I used to see Nobu being mentioned in celebrity gossip magazines all the time. I thought the restaurant was in the States, and never thought Iā€™d get a chance to try their food. So imagine my surprise when a foodie friend of ours invited us for dinner at Nobu, in London! I said yes without a blink.

The restaurant is everything I imagined it would be, and more. I felt like Iā€™m in a cool kids club walking in to the restaurant. Tables and chairs donā€™t scream fancy pants, but the air about this place is very very cool. Great food, great service, and yes, itā€™s a bit pricey (but we expected it).

Two highlight dishes for us:

1) Yellowtail Tartar with Caviar ā€“ Iā€™m not normally a big fan of raw fish, but this was amazing. The yellowtail mince is super fresh. Surprisingly refreshing.

2) Black cod with Miso glaze ā€“ this is what Nobu is famous for, and itā€™s pretty bloody amazing. This is our first time eating black cod, and it wonā€™t be the last (please nobody tell me this is an endangered fish) ā€“ the fish flakes off into chunky moist pieces of lovely miso-flavoured fish. Heavenly. Must try. Bloody expensive though.

Nobu serves good quality & tasty food with top notch service. However, due to the high price tag weā€™re keeping this on the list of restaurants for special occasions.

p.s. itā€™s also great for celebs spotting ;)

I believe i put my expectations on a high level. It was my first time in London and I wanted to try the Nobu Matsuhisa cuisine
I tried the omakase to have a full taste of Nobu art. The best dishes were the toro tartar with caviar and the sushi. The black cod (a nobu signature dish) was a little bit disapointing. The other dishes were more or less standard of japanese reinvented cuisine.
The staff was effective and explain all dishes with perfection. The restaurant was full and Andy Murray (tennis player) was in the next table.

This restaurant is pretty crowded on weekends, but this is just the place to go to for enjoying traditional Japanese food.The quality of food is extremely top quality and heavenly in taste.The menu is a little to large and so the staff might not be able to help you through it.
I would recommend the impeccable beef tataki and sashimi!

This restaurant serves one of the best Japanese food in this city. The interiors are very luxurious, food is delectable, varied menu for drinks, service efficient and prompt. Every one can find something for themselves from the menu. The place is on a higher side when it comes to prices but worth every penny for a great fine dine experience.

I, along with a few of my friends, went there to have a taste of the Japanese food. We all went for the set menu as none of us had any knowledge regarding the dishes served there and I must say that we all enjoyed our main courses. The food was authentic and delightful at the same time. They also have some good wines in their list and we thoroughly enjoyed our cocktails.

The entrance of this place is understated, and so are the interiors. I does not look like a fine dining restaurant, but is rather vibrant. The staff is very friendly and attentive and explain each dish very well. When the dish arrives, every element on the plate is described by the staff, which is very hospitable. The portions are quite small and the dishes are presented very intricately. The food is priced a bit on the higher side. The place is worth trying if you want to try unique, authentic dishes with exciting flavors.

If you are planning to dine at this restaurant, reservations are a must. The service is great, with the staff being extremely polite, friendly and knowledgeable. Our server recommended and explained each course of meal to us perfectly. The food is delightful and amazing from the start till the end. The green tea ice-cream is a must-try at this place. The ambiance and decor is pleasing, and the food is good value for money. Would go back for sure.

The atmosphere of the restaurant was buzzing, we had a 15 minute wait and was offered some drinks whilst we waited.Ā

We had a table by the window so we could have a view of the lights shining outside as well as looking at the cars arriving downstairs. The food were spectacular and the waiters and waitresses were super attentive. In short we enjoyed the Miso Black Cod as well as the Lobster with wasabi sauce. There was a wide choice of desserts as well as a good choice of wine.Ā

Our Henchman had to leave as he had his duty to do at the end of the meal, but we will be back at the venue!!

Always a great joy going to nobu.... From my school years of being a regular in matshusiha, NYC Nobu, and this London Nobu....It never fails my taste. Always come out satisfied and a smile on my face... The rock shrimp, ootoro, black cod, sweet shrimp.... All are just perfect... Desserts are always irresistible.

Nobu Matsuhisa was born in Japan and worked at a sushi restaurant in Tokyo for seven years after finishing his education. At the invitation of a Peruvian customer, he moved to Lima and opened Matsue restaurant at the tender age of 24. After four years he moved to the USA, and worked for a decade in Japanese restaurants there before opening his own place, Matsuhisa in Beverly Hills in 1987. Regular customer Robert de Niro asked him to open a restaurant in New York, which the two did in a business partnership in 1994. The success of this led to international expansion, with Nobu London opening in 2000, and many more Nobus followed. Nobu has 25 locations at the time of writing, stretching from Miami to Moscow and Mumbai. The original London Nobu is on the first floor of the Metropolitan hotel on Park Lane. It is a large room, seating 150, with views out over Hyde Park from one end of the dining room, the sushi counter at the opposite end. There are no tablecloths, but the dƩcor is certainly smart and modern.

The wine list, with around a hundred wines listed with a median price of Ā£90 and starting at Ā£55, may be the priciest in the capital. Growers are impeccable, with an emphasis on Californian wines, but the prices, oh the prices. Examples included Pine Ridge Chenin Blanc-Viognier Oakville 2007 at Ā£65 for a wine that you can find in the high street for Ā£14, Conundrum 2011 at Ā£95 for a wine that costs Ā£24 in a shop, and Chateau Pichon Longueville 2004 at a ridiculous Ā£650 for a wine that you can find retail for Ā£88. The average markup to the retail price is 5.2 times, and there were several wines listed at over ten times their retail price. If there is a more over-priced wine list in London then I have yet to meet it. I drank water, itself an absurd Ā£6 for a bottle of mineral water.

An ā€œomakaseā€ tasting menu was Ā£95, or Ā£75 at lunch. There was an extensive a la carte menu, but at lunch I went for the bento box, which allowed me to taste a few different dishes without requiring a mortgage. Rock shrimp tempura was good, the batter light, the shrimps cooked through properly, seasoned lightly (15/20). Also good was the black cod with miso, a signature dish of Nobu. The dish is made by marinating the cod in a sweet miso sauce for a couple of days, a variant on a traditional Japanese recipe that uses the lees of sake as a marinade. This effectively adds flavour to the cod, which can be a very dull fish indeed to eat (15/20). Salmon sahimi was pleasant, topped with garlic, ginger, chives and sesame seeds, with a little yuzu soy as a dressing (14/20). The sushi itself was reasonable but not thrilling, a selection of yellowtail, salmon and shrimp and a few rolls, the rice perhaps not as warm as ideal but certainly not cold, the fish itself of moderate quality; Atari-Ya is the main supplier here, and presumably Nobu gets first pick, but this particular set of fish was not of obviously high standard (13/20). Rice with pickled vegetables was fine, the mushroom, broccoli and carrots cooked carefully and seasoned well.

Service was good from my Lithuanian waitress, though the welcome at reception was distinctly frosty as a single diner. The bill quickly escalated from Ā£35 for the bento box to over Ā£47 with the addition of the single bottle of mineral water and the 15% service charge. Of course in the evening the bill would be much higher for a meal, especially if you unwisely ventured into the wine list. Objectively the food at this last visit was quite good, between 14/20 and 15/20 level, but the price is high. However Nobu clearly aims at a clientele for whom a high price is no barrier, and perhaps actually an attraction.

What a way to end the year (and start the next)! The seven course New Yearā€™s Eve 2013 dinner and wine menu at Nobu London at the Metropolitan Hotel ended the year on a delectable note and set high the bar for restaurant experiences for the months to come.

Check it out:

Seared salmon sashimi with jalapeno dressing, paired with Vouvray 2010, Vincent Raimbault, Loire;
Shrimp harumaki spicy miso, paired with Pinot Gris 2011, Les Princes Abbes, Domaines Schlumberger, Alsace;
Tuna sashimi salad with ponzu dressing (luxuriantly laden with loads of fresh black truffles might I add!), paired with Pouilly-Fuisse Vieilles Vignes 2011, Domaine des Gerbeaux, Burgundy;
Shiso and mint sea bass with roasted bell pepper sauce, paired with Montagny Premier Cru Les Plateieres 2010, Domaine Berthenet, Burgundy;
Roasted Venison with blueberry sansho sauce, paired with Clos Henri Pinot Noir 2009, Marlborough;
Assorted Nobu sushi, paired with Hokusetsu Junmai Dai-Ginjo; and
Ecuadorian chocolate mousse , orange and toffee cream, vanilla and olive oil sponge, white goma ice cream, paired with Sherry Moscatel Emilin, Solera Reserva, Lustau.
Believe me, it was all good and to a standard above Londonā€™s usual fine fare offerings, even in this upscale part of town. Still for me, the highlights were easy to discern. That tuna sashimi was a dream. And, typical to my taste buds, the wines from Burgundy were an absolute delight. The venison tasted great but seemed somewhat novel; I kinda wished Iā€™d gone with dining partner Kemeyā€™s pescaterian substitute: a big yummy lobster salad. Dessert seemed a bit obligatory but it was scrumptious and the sherry served alongside it was a gorgeous way to end an extraordinary meal.

Service (noticeably overwhelmed by a packed house of overly expecting NYE celebrants) proved efficient and capable. The setting? Maybe not as swish as one might expect but elegant and comfortable ā€“ just right really. And the lofty view across Park Lane to Hyde Park is a lovely one.

The dinner (Ā£95 per person, Ā£150 per person with paired wines) wasnā€™t my Nobu first. Iā€™d dined at the original Nobu in New York ages ago, and during my 2012 visit to Japan I had an exquisite lunch (possibly the best that year) at Itoh Dining by Nobu in the mountain resort town of Hakone. This was, however, my first Nobu experience in London. And not even halfway through my meal I was keen to plot a repeat visit ā€¦ and to try to get in Nobuā€™s Berkeley Street outlet ASAP. Two weeks into 2014 and since my visit, those intentions have not changed.

Double the fun, NYE is also the anniversary of when Kemey and I met. So what we do that night doesnā€™t necessarily have to be as fancy schmancy as dinner at Nobu, but it certainly should be something special. We left on a tipsy foodie high, glad to have enjoyed such a feast and to start a new year together so deliciously.

A no brainer choice for important occasions when palates must be pleased, Nobu London is located on the first floor of the Metropolitan Hotel, 19 Old Park Lane, W1K 1LB. Thereā€™s another Nobu restaurant just down the street at Berkeley Street as well.

Hello, Nobu! I donā€™t know what it is but your simply irresistible to me. A name known to mankind, plastered all over glossy magazines Iā€™ve read and TV shows. It was a matter of time for to me to finally dine; the 10-year wait is finally over.

It was a friend birthday, and I pre-planned a surprise at the end of the meal for her. Having been to the Park Lane area a few times, the place did take a while to look for. Itā€™s part of the Metropolitan hotel by Como. Once you enter the interior is simple and clean.

We kicked off with some non-alcoholic drinks, the concoction of layers and dimension of flavours got me in a happy mood.

My friend and I shared all the food between us; the menu has a range of Japanese/Peruvian fusion dishes.

The soba noodles piled neatly into a ness, with thin shredded pieces of seaweed sprinkled on top. The noodles were a delight, cold and refreshing dipped into the accompanied sauce. We made the mistake of not mixing all of the grated ginger in the dip, and didnā€™t experience the dish full potential.

My favourite part of the meal was the desserts. Regis surprised me and complimented extra two desserts. He has a decade of experience and his mind works 8 days of the week. Beautifully crafted exquisite desserts, my friend gobbled down the Rice v 6.0 and said itā€™s the best one she had ever.

Macana, delivered all my wishes in one. Layers of mango cream, pistachio sponge topped with kalamanzi sorbet and white chocolate mousse.

So I went to Nobu London for an anniversary where I believe at the time they were doing a 7 or 8 course meal. I have to say the food was very good and surprisingly filling for how small the courses were - I guess they add up! šŸ˜… They also had good alcoholic and non-alcoholic selection of cocktails and drinks for those that like to drink šŸ¹ The place looks beautiful, and it really sets a romantic and chilled vibe, I loved it. However, be prepared to pay for the experience - if Iā€™m not mistaken everything together including drinks was about Ā£400, but it was definitely worth the experience and the service was some of the best Iā€™ve seen in London asian cuisine restaurants.

Went here recently for my birthday lunch. I am a huge sushi fan but have been to quite a few sushi restaurants all over the world and I know nobu is considered quite pricey so I'll be honest I was half expecting it to be a bit of a disappointment. Maybe one of those places you go once to try and don't go back because as nice as it is, there's others that are just as nice but cheaper. I have to say, I was wrong. The food was out of this world. We got a nice selection to try as many things as we could and absolutely everything we had was divine. I had the lychee crush alcohol free cocktail which was absolutely gorgeous. Food wise we had nigiri salmon, Crispy nori sushi cup with spicy tuna & salmon and avocado (these were my faves) Shrimp tempura maki & soft shell crab maki + Chicken skewers. Honestly if I could afford to I would eat there every day! The staff were very welcoming, helpful and attentive. They even brought out a little birthday treat for me at the end. We had a lovely table overlooking the park and it was a really hot sunny day so overall was a beautiful day out in London. Will definitely be back soon and highly recommend. We went theatre straight after and was loads of cabs outside (it's next to the Hilton so have a constant flow of mini cabs).

Ate here with my cousin, went for the signature omakase taster which consisted of six courses, three cold dishes, two hot dishes and a dessert. The salmon tartare with caviar was nice but slightly overpowered by the wasabi sauce, however the Japanese plum palette cleanser had a really nice sweetness to it. The sashimi salad also tasted great, especially the onion sauce which brought the dish together for me. The nigiri tasted really fresh and it was really lovely to taste a bit of each fish. The black miso cod tasted amazing, it was cooked perfectly, only let down on this was the miso sauce was overly sweet. Beef was divine, it was really tender and I could cook it slightly more if we found it too rare however it was perfectly cooked, mushrooms were very flavourful. Finally dessert was my favourite course, the chocolate bento box with green tea ice cream was balanced incredibly well. The green tea ice cream didnā€™t overpower the chocolate and instead made the molton chocolate cake feel complete and not overly sweet. Staff were very friendly and all dishes were explained upon receiving them. Although we did wait quite a while between each dish all in all it was an amazing dinner. Thanks to the staff there who served us and I would love to try the other nobuā€™s!!!

One of the first Nobu opened out of Japan some 20 years ago, same location for many years. Famous Japanese restaurant opened by Chef Nobu and Hollywood celebrity. Modern Japanese cusine. When it first opened 20years ago, it was a big hit but the restaurant is showing its age. Many newcomers are better these days. Nobu became too commercial and lost its niche. Nevertheless, the food is not bad. Can try

Oh, and great Nobu experience at Old Park Lane. The Nobu experience is slightly different than other Nobu experiences because the restaurant doesnā€™t have that polished feel that you find in a New York or city Nobu location. The atmosphere has a more cafe, lunch vibe. I would try other Nobu locations maybe at the Portman Square and compare the difference. Food has some slight variations from what you find in US locations such as the Salmon Karashi Su Miso which has ginger on top. Service is overall excellent. Flavio and Gabrielle were amazing.

Went for a birthday meal and the food/service was exceptional. Our group had a range of dishes from the wagyu to the black cod miso to soft shell crab sushi and everything tasted amazing. The atmosphere was great and the service was impeccable with a very friendly server who answered all questions. Given it was a birthday meal, they handed the birthday person a very nice card and a little surprise at the end. We were there at dinner with two friends last Saturday... the restaurant was very busy and the level of noise quite annoying. They should consider reducing the number of tables and adding sound-absorbing layers to the walls, windows and ceiling. Apart from this, food was great. They have an excellent list of wines and the level of service is quite hight. Again, a pity the high level of noise...
