This time I ate a salad and I liked it a lot. My daughter ordered soft tacos, my boyfriend and his daughter ate a burritos, we all enjoyed our meal. Quick and tasty. Beverage a bit expensive for a fast food chain.

We were warmed up by chilli around the burrito triangle.  Softened and charmed by pioneers of the London scene such as El Burrito and Freebird, the burrito has now become a staple of the fast food scene around the capital, with some good and lots of not so good alternatives. And it’s exciting, having food with a spicy edge and a bit of authentic differentness.  Something new world. And now one of the big boys from across the pond has arrived, with its smoky chilli name.  Chipotle, with stores in the US, Canada, Germany, France and here.  An interesting list, for a food of Mexican origin.  Can you spot the place that is missing? Anyway, let’s not pass judgement on these guys – according to their advertising, they do food with integrity.  Which is nice.  Actually, it is great - they specify they want their meat from an ethical source.  More restaurants should do this – we eat the bodies, the least we can do is show the animals respect when they are alive. But what is not to like about a burrito?  Oh yes, they kind of look like full up nappies.  But if they taste good, where is the harm in that? So, what to expect.  Well, the restaurant is fairly spacious, but not amazingly comfy.  Functional and aiming for a fast turnover I expect.  This is fast food after all.  And the production line is straightforward.  Queue up.  Choose your beans – pinto or black, choose your meat – standards (pork, chicken, beef or vegetable), choose your sauces.  Easy and no different from any other burrito place.   The other options are fairly minimal.  Guac for £1.40, which I thought was a bit steep for a green mush.  Tortilla chips for 90p.  Drinks there too, but nothing too unusual. We are only talking pence here, but I never really understood why they need to charge for guac in the first place.  Why not just make it an option and be straightforward with the prices?  Oh well.  Onto the feast. I had barbecoa, which is a bit of shredded beef with lots of lovely juicy bits.  And guac.  And some spicy salsa, which was all put in there and then wrapped.  I took my bundle of meaty joy back to the table and sat down with my buddies and slowly unwrapped it, watching it slowly fall apart and dribble meat all over my hands.  Not what you want. I sank my teeth in.  A nice selection of flavours and textures, but nothing to stand out.  In fact, nothing to stand out but lots to dribble out.  And dribble it did, like a severed artery gushing out up my arm every time I took a mouthful.  Not a pleasant experience and slightly annoying.  My hand was caked in chilli and barbecoa sauce by the end of the meal.  As the liquid slowly solidified.  I felt a bit like a vampire, but covered in a chilli blood. It was quite a big bundle of foods loosely wrapped and it was certainly satisfying as far as quantity goes, but didn’t leave much of a memory.  Like the venue, it was a bit in, adequately serviced, then out.  And they didn’t even give wet wipes at the end, which I would have thought was a valuable addition to a meal that will cover you with liquid. Chipotle, you may have a catchy name and it is clear from your rapid expansion of restaurants that you have captured many imaginations, and there is that “SECRET MENU OPTION” but I keep coming back to the lack of substance.  A burrito does look like a nappy and your food is a bit like baby food – it is easy to get in your mouth and chew, a bit messy, it will fill you up but ultimately there’s not much more to it than that. Sorry guys, I’m sticking with the smaller shops.  El Burrito with its wrestler’s masks and variety of flavours keeps my heart. Time out – 15 minutes Change from a tenner –  0.35 with drink of water Taste – 7 Needing a good rub down afterwards - 10

The city branch is not yet listed on zomato but upon trying it yesterday I was impressed. Efficient, fresh ingredients, and after first purchase, a free burrito offer within the next week - a nice touch to gain repeat customers! I tried the chicken burrito with brown rice and hot salsa. Although in general I am not a big fan of burritos I have to admit it was tasty - albeit quite pricey at 6.70 a pop. I will be back again, and glad to see some competition for lunch places around the area!

I like Chipotle because they have brown and white rice. I like Chipotle because they warm their wraps sufficiently to ensure melting. But most importantly I like Chipotle because they put their burrito together well. This is no easy feat. A poorly constructed burrito will involve getting mouthfuls or just rice, or just peppers. A well constructed burrito means that you always get the mix of flavours and ingredients as you eat. The evidence is in that I have never not finished a Chipotle burrito. At the other places, I have at least on one occasion not been able to finish, with Chipotle no matter how full I am I don't have the will power to stop. I once read that making a Chipotle burrito healthy was

Chipotle is a grown-up fast food shop with slick décor, organic ingredients and a prime location. These factors, along with a recent bad review, made me anxious about visiting – is Chipotle all style and no substance? Not for me, as it turns out. There’s

Unknown to us but beloved by the US, it’s another fast food chain that started 17 years ago in North America and has multiplied to 950 branches in the meantime. This week they opened their first European branch on Charing Cross Road, and are planning more

With due apology to all the places I've whinged about on this blog after only one visit, I made two trips to Chipotle, one to each of their two branches, before making my mind up about it. The first was a PR-organised lunch at Baker Street with everything that entails - a tour behind the scenes, the hard sell from the nevertheless charming American senior staff, and perhaps slightly more attention paid to what comes out of the kitchen than the average punter would enjoy. The second was, I hope, slightly more representative - takeaway tacos from their Shaftesbury Avenue branch, eaten al desko one lunchtime. Both were hugely enjoyable. The fact that, as it turns out, I really liked the food at Chipotle came as quite a surprise. Though astonishingly popular (and numerous) in its native USA, the opening of the first UK branch in April last year was seemingly met by profound indifference by most food bloggers, with the tiny handful of people bothering to write it up split down the middle on

I love Chipotle and you must too!!!! If Chipotle is a religion, I preach them. If Chipotle is God, I am their worshiper. I believe Chipotle put cocaine salt it in because it tastes beyond God's limit! Sorry for the blunt nature of this review, it's because Chipotle IS that good! I love chipotle even though they give me gas for a whole day. I still love you, Chipotle.

Ambience: 4.0, clean atmosphere. Don't like sitting on a stall chair though
Service: average
Price: affordable

Literally, I've wanted this place to reach the UK for ages, and it finally has!

I liked the style of the restaurant, clean and tidy. No extravagant decor, just a few stools and high tables for you to enjoy your meal. Service was fast and efficient, and staff were always willing to help you if you were unsure of the menu or how to order. The food is freshly made in front of you and you can customise it to your own preferences.

A quick and easy meal in Soho, perfect for lunchtime.

Decided to try out Chipotle a couple of weeks ago, and was pleasantly surprised.

Ambiance: 3.0

Large, sunny, spacious, and clean. I found it a tad sterile for my taste, but the overall feel was very open and roomy for a large group or just to sit and enjoy a quick lunch while punching away at some work

Service: 3.0

Kind of hard to rate the service at a place like this, since you really only interact with staff at the counter. That being said, the whole process, from ordering your food to paying, was friendly, fast, and efficient. They answered my questions about the hot sauces and explained the different ingredients.

Food: 3.5

Very tasty stuff! I love tacos, and found these absolutely delicious for the price. For 6.50, I got three tacos stuffed with spicy shredded beef, lettuce, hot salsa, sour cream, cheese, and guac. The flavour was really great, if not a tad too salty. Nothing was particularly unique or daring, just simple and tasty.

Final Verdict: 3.5

I'm going to give it a 3.5, because as far as fastfoody chains go, this one is top notch!

This is definitely one of my favorite places to eat! Fast, simple Mexican food that is also delicious. The concept is very simple. You choose what kind of meal you want (taco, burrito, burrito bowl, quesadilla, etc) then customize it with whatever you want! I always get the burrito bowl with barbacoa meat because it is slightly spicy but not too heavily seasoned, so there is plenty of room to add favorites like guacamole and loads of salsa!

We always wanted to try this restaurant and finally we found it in London. You can customize your order if you want a wrap or bowl etc. For me I choose the bowl as I don't like eating messy. Then choose the shredded beef, added lettuce, black beans, tomato and sour cream and cheese if I remember correctly Oh I forgot brown rice as well. Then my partner and daughter ordered a wrap with chicken and beef then again you can choose your add ons. Suprisingly they have tabasco, they even have the green one which is mild. First time trying it. The food tasted really good!! I love it! Especially when you add the green tabasco, it elevates the taste. Were shocked at how affordable there food were, for the three of us we paid £26 with drinks. Will definitely go back here as I really love there food. Will try other combination next time. Lots of seating area, super clean. Staffs were really fast and nice. One staff were even rewiping the table haha! They also have a restroom which is always a plus when your in London.

I’ve been wanting the chance to eat chipotle since like 2013/14. Safe to say I wasn’t disappointed. The portion sizes are HUGE! If you’re hungry for a burrito, come here. All very delicious & it’s also a great lunch/ dinner option too. Only thing to add is that I wish they had meal options to have it with nachos & a drink or something. Regardless still yummy.😊

We love Chipotle ❤️ at first We were a little skeptical about whether we would get the same taste as USA or not, but we loved it. The quantity was less as compared to other Chipotle in USA but okay 👍 Staff was also friendly and welcoming 🙏

I've always wanted to try this, and here in London I finally got the chance. You can customize your own meal, and they make it right in front of you! You can chose either a taco, burrito, bowl or salad and chose all kinds of meat, rice and salsa toppings. The food is great, make sure to not pick the spicy salsa if you can't handle it as it's really spice.

Food delicious. Value for money. Nice location and vibe. Finally, and the reason why I gave it a rare 5 star, is that the toilets were relatively clean. You have to realise that for a busy fast food restaurant in central London that is an incredible, almost impossible, achievement. Well done guys.

This Chipotle has always been top of the range, everyone has been so nice and generous as I come here a lot at work. I would like to big up Hayley, she's honestly one of the sweetest workers Chipotle has ever hired, one of the main reasons I come back . Love to Sebastian too, rare to find food places where a guy remembers and greets you by your name. Trust me, just come here, it's banging (please keep Al Pastor on the menu)

Good burritos, but these places never quite get the authentic Mexican taste quite right though and it's not as good as the real Chipotle in the US. Great service, place was a bit small with too much bench/cafeteria style seating with high chairs.

We all had burritos! I had the steak burrito! And my mum & son had the chicken burritos! And my son loved it so much he bought another one! The only thing that let it down was the toilets! Long waits and the toilets were dirty & had no toilet rolls! We made the staff aware of this problem before we left the restaurant!
