What we went for: Breakfast with a wow factor

What we ordered: Duck and waffle, black pudding, eggs en cocette with mushrooms, avo toast with scrambled eggs , coffees

What we paid: GBp 75

Verdict: definitely full marks for the wow factor, starting with the Uber fast lift to the 40th floor..

Food - I would say my duck and waffle with the eggs and maple syrup was definitely a treat.. perfectly deep fried duck leg Confit with the slightly sweet wFfle, slightly runny yellow of the fried egg and a little touch of the maple syrup is a forkful if guilty pleasure ! I loved the dish and can totally understand the restaurant being eponymously named after its signature dish..
The eggs en cocette was a trip to mushroom heaven dunked in melted cheese and oven baked eggs.. the heavenly aroma of the mushrooms, truffle oil... eggs and cheese in oodles of butter- and little toast sticks to pick up that and put it in your mouth was definitely another dish right up there! Heavenly, guilty pleasure , must eat !!! All the superlatives indeed..
The scrambled eggs with the avo toast was the healthiest dish on the table and arguably lost the battle if there was one for the wow factor .. perhaps the most sunny looking dish but I have had this myriad times in small variations .. Duck and waffle did a good job of the dish but hey if you can get this at the local breakfast diner why make a trip all the way to duck and waffle :)

Service was good.. they were even nice enough to take a few pictures.. small let down- while there was an empty table closer to the side with u interrupted views of London we were given a similar table inside - without a very good reason..

Would I return? Definitely !

One of my favourite dining spots for a special occasion in London. Booking as far in advance as you can as it is very popular. You dining above the London skyline. The food is amazing and made to share. My favourite was the cornbread (in a small silzzing pan) with a spicy cream cheese sauce and the Cornish crab. Highly recommend this place!

Went on the Saturday night pub crawl in central London! There was very friendly staff making sure everyone is having a good time and not getting left behind. They make sure to go round everyone to let them know its time to move on. Shout out to Alex!! He is a very friendly tour guide who is a good laugh and is always up for making friends.
Only thing I'd say was the shots need to be stronger ;)

I was excited to visit the renowned Duck and Waffle which my husband had been talking up and I must say whilst the view is obviously super high up it’s not actually that impressive in terms of what you are looking at ie a fair amount of construction.

I love the vibe of the venue itself and the fact it’s open 24/7 (ensure you book), it would be pretty cool to come for sunrise (if you could be bothered which was too much of a stretch for a jet lagged tourist). I’m not really sure why the fascination with duck on the waffle but being their signature my husband did order it.

I stuck to a sweet waffle which was really yummy paired with a fresh orange juice which was also rather expensive albeit location, location, location. Worth checking out

Wanted to get a lunch time reservation here and even though it is a 24 hour restaurant that time slot proved popular and could only book in for a late dinner or early breakfast. Checked with friends and an early morning wake up call did not prove too popular so booked for the late dinner. Located on the 40th floor it affords amazing views. Unfortunately this evening it was quite cold outside and the condensation fogged up a lot of the views so probably best enjoyed during the day if you want to visit for the views.

Once we got up there (the ride in the clear glassed lift is amazing) it was good we had a reservation as it was pumping at the bar and also a long wait for a table. We were greeted quickly and taken to our table. Service was nice.

We had a variety of snacks, small plates, for the table (mains), and sides. The highlights were their signature of Duck & Waffle with a confit duck leg on top of a waffle with a fried duck egg and mustard maple syrup. The duck was wonderfully cooked and pairs well with the waffle. The runny egg yolk and syrup adds to the deliciousness. The Baked Heritage Potatoes were amazing. The fresh truffle and caramelised onions complemented the potatoes so well I could’ve been happy just eating this. The Maple Glazed Cornbread With Harissa Yoghurt was also really good. It was definitely filling as quite heavy but very tasty.

You’ll love this place no matter the time of day. The late night menu looked pretty good too!

Recomendo a fazer reserva online.

An absolute masterpiece. The staff are so well trained, from the front of house to the waiters, even the bartenders - I literally can't remember the last time I came across such professionalism. You walk in, zip through a glass elevator to find yourself 40 floors above ground treated to the most breathtaking views of London city. Everything about the experience screams first class, the service, the decor, the ambient tunes, mood lighting and of course, the food! The crispy leg confit, duck egg & waffle served with mustard maple syrup is to die for! Such simple components for a dish that’s executed astonishingly well. the beetroot, duck doughnut and the cod were delicious.. the duck and waffle was excellent.
The T bone was fine, but everything else, including the burnt cabbage beneath it, stewed in butter and capers (yes, capers...with butter) proclaims a complete lack of culinary culture. My favourite small plates were the raw tuna and duck doughnut and, of the main courses, the steak was unbelievable and everyone loved the duck and waffle for its combination of flavours. We treated ourselves to dessert with a surprisingly alcoholic espresso martini. The chocolate fondant was lovely but the hot banoffee dessert was the real winner in the taste stakes.

Duck and waffle is a must visit in london, I would say it's the best place to enjoy British cuisine. I loved their toffee apple waffle though ox cheek Benedict is good too. Anyone would want to spend the evening sipping bloody Mary while enjoying the city view and thus I recommend an evening visit to this place (with a reservation). Easily one of the best places I have been to in London. When my son told me that he wants to go here I was a bit sceptical after hearing the name. On top of that no booking were available though it’s a 24/7 place. But finally managed to get the 10.30 pm table. They are pretty strict about the timing and dressing so we have to be dressed also appropriately. But what an experience it was and some unforgettable food.
In the financial district of London this is situated on the 40th floor with a 360 degree view of the city. Breathtaking view with a bar located right in the centre. We had the following :
Rosemary bread- I have breads and bread n breads. I love bread so much. This one was totally overwhelming. Freshly baked bread with an amazing flavour
Ox Cheek doughnut - this was a surprise. A huge ball of dough with amazing flavoured ox cheek in it. Loved it totally
Beef Tartare- I didn’t have this since it was supposedly raw beef pieces topped with a raw egg yolk. Was supposedly great
Duck waffle- now this is their signature dish and yumm it was. Waffle topped with a roast duck leg topped with a perfectly fried egg.
Baked cod - show stealer of the evening. It was something I have never had. Perfect baked cod fish sitting in a yumm sauce. The sauce was unbelievably flavourful. A must try here.

In all it was a fab dinner with breathtaking view and fantastic service. Pretty expy place so do chk before venturing... worth all the money you spend though

Reserving a table here is like a competition, even when it’s open for 24 hours.

Went here a couple of time and the food is consistently goooood.
Had their Spicy Ox Cheek Doughnut and Foie Gras Creme Brulee for appetizer and Duck and Waffle and 38 day aged Angus bone-in rib-eye for main dish.

I don’t mind waiting for my reservation date to come with the quality of the food they serve. The combination are thoughtful as well as the amazing taste. Personally, I’d have the rib-eye and foie gras creme brulee anytime of the day.

This restaurant/bar is on the 40th floor and as I am someone who is scared of heights, needless to say this was a tad scary for me, however the lift up is super fast, and the ambience in the bar/restaurant is very relaxing. the view was well worth the fear so please don't be deterred if you are scared of heights. the whole place was very luxurious and the drinks were exceptional. they smelt and tasted very nice. This place has been on our bucket list for years, and we finally dined there in late Nov 2017. We arrived early (around 7AM) as we did not hold a reservation, and also for a chance to catch the sunrise from the top. Luckily we got a table quite close to the edge with the Gherkin and river Thames in sight! The decor inside is contemporary and elegant, with floor to ceiling glass-panes all-around, thus giving one a bird's eye view of London city.

We ordered the house special "duck and waffle" and eggs royale with a side of grilled portobello mushrooms. The duck and waffle is exactly what it's called - a fried duck leg with breast atop a waffle, and covered by a fried duck egg, with a side of maple syrup containing white sesame seeds. De-boning that duck leg could be a bit of a challenge, but the combination of sweet and savory flavors, along with a myriad of textures from the fatty egg yolk, to the crispy duck skin, and the fleshy duck meat makes it an interesting dish.

The sun peeked out from the horizon as we tucked in, and it made for a very romantic moment. Some of the diners huddled near the edge to take that mandatory selfie.

Highly recommended, and we will visit again when we are in London next.

Duck & Waffle! What an experience in the middle of the City of London! Overlooking the city from the top of the building, Duck & Waffle offers an upscale food and drink experience with professional service.
The concept is purely British with a touch of European cuisine.
Reservation is a real must since it is difficult to find tables if you walk in (it is not a normal restaurant).
We ordered the following dishes:
-Rosemary & Garlic bread
-Spicy Ox Cheek Doughnut
-N'duja and Gruyere
-Duck and Waffle
-The Rabbit dish (forgot its name)
All food ordered were so tasty and the rabbit dish was my favorite especially the sauce used. The rosemary and garlic bread was a bit heavy to chew. The duck and waffle plate was very interesting and the duck was spiced appropriately.
We also ordered a French Rose wine that was somehow matching with the majority of food ordered.
Duck & Waffle has also a bar next to its restaurant that is so interesting to try and chill over a tasty drink.
I recommend Duck & Waffle to couples, or small groups of friends willing to be part of a distinguished upsacle experience.

Came here upon touching down from Venice, and I have hear good things about this place, being from Melbourne AU. Had a booking at 11pm but we arrived quarter before 11pm and were seated after passing security check downstairs. Didn’t know it was kind of a bar as well so the setting was a bit noisy. Ordered three small plates and a big plate (signature duck and waffle) to share, and was going to order the sea bass a bit later just in case we are still hungry because we skipped lunch due to our flights. Food came quite quickly, and we finished it - asked to order the sea bass and was told the menu has expired and a new menu is to come at 11:30pm. I was so disappointed :( but the waiter apologised bcz we weren’t informed about it earlier. Ordered the truffled duck egg (which is like higher end baked eggs, no photo sry) and it is good - heavy enough to make us full for the night. Forced ourselves to finish it with a choc fondant as I won’t be back and it was alright.

Full marks to this place for all the hype that has been created.

We tried 2 days in a row to get a reservation but alas on the 3rd day we managed to get lucky and totally excited.

This is on the rooftop, the lift is super fast & takes you up in 10 odd seconds.

Entered and were greeted by the hostess who escorted us to our table.

Ordered for their signature Duck waffles for breakfast and a berry smoothie.

I won't say much but all I can say is fabulous fabulous and fabulous. Totally lives up.

Price was about 30 pounds for everything and we left with a super smile on our faces.

Highly suggest to try out this place when in London. Add to bucket list.

An extremely popular restaurant in London, Duck and Waffle ended up being a pricey, over-hyped affair that was probably only worth it for the nice moody atmosphere, ear-popping glass elevator and floor to ceiling windows overlooking London from the 40th floor. The vibes were nice for a long chat or catch up seated up in the sky but the food was quite average and unexciting.. I had higher expectations for a place that required booking weeks in advance for a prime dine time. ...

Located in the City of London, it has the best view of the city ( on the 40th floor).
Consider booking few weeks in advance to be guaranteed a table especially when it is holidays season. First recommendation is to request a table by the window so that you can enjoy the view from up there.
The decor is injected with modern influences.
The staff are welcoming, once you are in, you are directed to you table. They are very helpful and always ready at your service.

Duck and Waffle is essentially my first go to restaurant to recommend when anybody ever asks. If they've had it, they will agree its a great place. Been here many many times and it's one of the few restaurants have I never had anything to really complain about taste wise after having tried everything on the menu. Always anticipating popping back for any seasonal changes to their menu. What makes it better is that if you really crave it they are open 24/7. The Signature dish is amazing, perfectly moist and crispy duck. I also can't keep my hands off the bbq spiced crispy pigs ears and are definitely must haves whenever you come here. Then again you can't really go wrong with anything on the menu.

oh what a food !!
each one of them was outperforming the other.
from the taste to presentation to ambiance, everthing was top notch.

the duck and waffle: the signature dish was too good to be true. the duck was soft and moist inside and its skin was crispy and tasty. the maple syrup and the waffle was complementing each other.

smoked eel: tasted quite nice but was a bit short in taste in front of other dishes

the pea ravioli: we had a vegetarian friend in group and it was the only option of menu she would get. the raviolis were moist and the pea puree was rich and full of flavour

dessert(baked alaska) : MAMAMIA, Its the best way to end the meal. a perfect dessert.

along side we also ordered a bottle of white wine and crust garlic bread.
the total was a worth of 99£.
Bit too costly however the view from the 40th floor consolidated the much love for this place.

Dear Diary,
Duck and Waffle is one of Londons highest restaurants and runs 24hours. Trust me when I say this- it’s packed for all of those 24hours every single day! They have a bar area and a restaurant and it’s always full! We booked a Sunday Brunch there for Mother’s Day and loved it! We ordered their famous Duck and Waffle, Roast Chicken, Full Elvis, Mimosas and Moscato. While their Duck and Waffle was great, what really stole the show was the Roast Chicken. It’s an entire chicken roasted to perfection! The sauce and the veggies which came with it too were fantastic- has to be one of the best I have ever eaten! With stunning views of the London Skyline- this place offers a memorable dining experience.

Lived up to its name. One of the hardest restaurant in london to get a seat. It's placed on top of a building giving it a great dining experience while looking out to London's cityline.

Duck and waffle: gotta have this this right. It was so good in every level!!!! Duck was crispy on the outside but so soft on the inside. The combination of savory and sweet (waffle and the mapple sauce) worked so well!!

Foie gras creme brulee: something you should treat as an appetizer and to definitely to share. First bite was SO GOOD. Again, the combination of sweet and savory was perfect like the marriage of Ryan Reynold and Blake Lively. We've got a huge serving of rich foie gras so finishing the dish alone could be a challenge.

One of my highlight meal when I was visiting london for a week.

This place deserves a higher rating than 5 if that's possible! The whole experience was AH-MAZING! Even though my friends weren't happy with the 8:00 am reservation I got, after reaching there they all loved me even more! It was the perfect weather, the right amount of sun and we could see the entire city beneath the sky from the 40th floor! It was a breathtaking view. We were lucky we got a seat beside the window (be mindful to book it in advance). We had the signature dish which was duck and waffle and duck egg which was delicious and an eggs benedict with salmon (fish royal) and ohh it was was so amazing with the creamy hollandaise sauce! I dream of it every day! must MUST go when in London !

I make a visit to D&W everytime I'm down in London as it was one of my favourite places to go to back when I was based in London. Back in 2012, their booking system was less complicated and we could still walk in during lunch hours on a weekday. Ever since they gained popularity over the years, booking is mandatory - weekends are full weeks in advance, weekdays can be quite impossible to book a week ahead unless it's during odd hours like 11am or 2.30pm onwards. Though they are open 24 hours a day, it's still difficult to get a reservation. We were really lucky to pull a reservation for 6 at 1pm.

A memorable breakfast experience with a mesmerising view of London, albeit it being a cloudy day it was still definitely worth it.

The duck was juicy and perfectly seasoned and the soft, warm waffles made the perfect accompaniment. The shakshuka was one of the best I've tasted with the right amount of spice. But I have to say the porridge was my favourite. The candied pecans complimented the perfectly cooked oats. (I have been scouring the internet for the recipe ever since I had it).

The ambience was relaxed and our servers were polite and welcoming. Definitely worth the visit!

As the name, their signature is duck&waffle. Perfection between waffle and crispy duck. One annoying thing you gotta book it far in advanced. Can try your luck for walk-in, if its at midnight you'd prolly get a table as i did at 3am. Menu selection is not much of variety. Waiter also not too polite

Duck & Waffle is London’s highest restaurant. Situated high up on the 40th floor at the Heron Tower, the restaurant offers sophisticated food with a panoramic view of London to match with. Forever a favorite of mine! Anytime I'm going to visit London, I book a table as soon as I book my flight. It's always fully booked...but there's a reason why! 1)It's delicious 2)the view is amazing 3)the decor is spot on. If you go, absolutely do not miss their fresh breads especially the garlic rosemary. It's mouth watering. I know bread sounds very mainstream but it's better than any bakery's bread. Trust me. Of course thejr duck and waffle main dish is the highlight! The crispy skin of the duck, the warm waffle, the sweet maple syrup...my mouth us currently watering jus remembering it.
Definitely not to miss!

Can't even count the amount of times this place was recommended to me! And omg did it live up to expectations!
Firstly, take my advice and book a table in advance.
Secondly, THAT VIEW!!! Omg that view is everything! Not only is the food magical but you also have the best view in London from one of its highest towers!

Lastly and most importantly, being at duck and waffle, you have to order the duck and waffle. I was so delighted by this dish. It's so weird in a good way. An explosion of flavors in your mouth that you won't experience elsewhere. The sweetness, saltiness, crunchiness and mushiness all mixed together: that is the duck and waffle.

Service was quick and helpful and I would definitely come again and recommend it to anyone I know! Bravo!

Duck and Waffle need no introduction! Touted as one of the top restaurants in the city, I was here to know if it lives up to the expectations.
We were a group of 8 and dined here for a friend's Birthday.
The highlight is the lovely view and the lift that takes up to the top! A beautiful glass elevator that takes to the restaurant.
The service is excellent, and the contemporary interiors and great music adds to the fun.
The relay on freshest produces and organically grown veggies to make every dish. It's what makes the food stand out here. The Bloody Mary is worth repeat orders. The cocktails are limited but very thoughtfully made.
The desserts the best part. The waffles sinful best.

We went midday on Sunday and thoroughly enjoyed the brunch. We had the pig ear starter that was delicious - crunchy salty and sweet! My dining companions all had the ox cheek benedict which they raved about. I had to have to duck and waffle which was divine! The view was spectacular, especially over sunset. This is a menu made for sharing - we tried a variety of things. The standout was the foie gras creme brûlée with pork crackling brioche, very nearly ordered another! The signature duck & waffle is delicious, crispy skinned duck leg, perfectly fried egg and mustard maple syrup tying it together in a way that makes as much sense mid-morning as it would at 2am. Sunday brunch, a London must, and it doesn't get any better than the Duck and Waffle. The service is faultless, the views breathtaking (it's 40 floors up and offers a panoramic view of almost the whole city) and food tantalisingly splendid. We had a coffee in the bar area before being seated which in itself is a great space to relax before heading into the restaurant and worth going a little earlier for. Once you get over the amazing views and stop being anti-social and staring out of the windows the restaurant has a great atmosphere, the service is sharp yet friendly and is restaurant relaxed and bustling with views inside the kitchen. The portions are sizeable so make sure you go hungry. We ate the 'duck and waffle' which it has to be said is a taste sensation and Colombian eggs with smoked salmon which were delicious followed by the full Elvis waffle which we couldn't quite finish, even though we were sharing but was totally worth the effort we put in. You aren't made to feel rushed, as is the case in many London brunch spots and we will most definitely be back with friends as everyone we know needs to share this truly delectable experience.

Great views over London from the city’s highest restaurant, offering “a playful take on traditional British cuisine with broad European influences”. A light and bright space with tables sufficiently spread out, the Duck and Waffle just makes you feel good. Great dinner at Duck & Waffle. The restaurant is on the 40th floor of the Heron Tower with amazing views of London. It's open 24hrs and is buzzing. The menu is mostly small plates and sharing plates. Fresh, local ingredients and creative, delicious dishes. The good was great; service was attentive and the waiters were knowledgeable of what they were serving. On a less positive note, with the exclusion of the "plates for the table" portions are minute and prices are outrageously expensive. Surely a place to go once but not sure it would be my first choice to go a second time.

I had chosen to spend our last night in London having dinner at the Duck & Waffle, although it was a great experience I feel it's definitely more of a day spot. The service was very average and felt more like a dinning hall than somewhere special for dinner. That being said, the meal we had was fantastic. The menu is rather limited, especially since the sea bass can only be ordered for two. To start we tried the ox cheek doughnut, sugar and cinnamon crusted doughnut on top of a cold apricot sauce with with full meaty filling. Mains had to be the duck and waffle, fluffy waffle, soft fried egg, sweet syrup and the crispiest duck you will ever have. Super indulgent but definitely worth it, a meal like no other with cocktails and a view to match!

Located on the 40th floor, this restaurant has nailed it in terms of views. Getting there though can be quite a hoity toity affair, but once with the maitre d' it's a pleasant experience. Ordered the duck and waffle. Was afraid it might be an American-sized, overly sweet affair, but what arrived was a perfect portion for one. Duck was perfectly crisp with tender, moist meat that was not overcooked.  The waffle was crisp and went down a treat with the maple syrup. The egg for me was an unnecessary addition, but it was fried so well, I enjoyed it immensely. Perhaps better as a brunch dish than lunch. Flat white was a let down, you could tell it had been sitting there a while before they brought it over to my table. Service was prompt and pleasant. Recommend a visit.

We had an amazing time at this very scenic restaurant. The views are amazing and the food served here was cooked to perfection. Of course we had the duck and waffle which did not disappoint. I could not describe this dish other than precise. The octopus was ok, passable, however the salad we had (pictured) was )better than I though it would be. The only thing with this place is that it books out well in advance for a month+ so get in early folks. It's the perfect date restaurant, and i would actually recommend it moreso for a couple to go than anymore people. Why? The two seater tables are seated on the edges right next to the windows vs. larger parties who are seated more centrally, and thus don't get views as good.

Last minute reservation! Thank the food heavens. The whole thing about duck and waffle is not just about the food, it is about the experience of sailing up 40 floors in a glass elevator and experiencing a dining room with 360 degree views of London. MARVELOUS!

Started off with a snack of bbq spice pig ears and this came delivered in a paper bag with a seal which you had to open. I enjoyed the theatrics. Pig ears were crispy but they were also very salty, after a few of them, I was ready to stop. Next came the guanciale and welsh goats cheese. I liked the flavour combination of both (similar to pancetta with feta cheese) but wished that it had been baked into the centre of the bread. My favourite was the smoked mackerel. It was a great fusion of flavours and textures from the smokiness of the mackerel to the refreshing crunch and flavour of the lime yoghurt, apple and cucumber to the hint of spice from the curried scraps that accompanied the dish.

Finally the star of the evening, duck and waffles! The waffles were very good, crispy through and through. The duck tasted good but I thought it wasn't particularly fantastic. It was a little tough in texture.

Loved the experience here and I would go back a second time to do it all over again.

Obviously, the duck and waffle had to be done, and we placed it in the middle so we could all pick at it. And by pick, I mean grab large chunks with our forks before it disappeared! Eggs Benedict are normally my default when I go out for breakfast, and so I had already decided on the ox cheek Benedict when I checked the menu the day before. And just to balance things out, we also ordered a full breakfast and some banana brulee waffles.

For starters I ordered two crispy polenta and it was delicious! Under small plates I had the yellowfin tuna served on a Himalayan salt plate and it was amazing! I also had the foie gras creme brûlée which entailed a brioche with some tiny bits of pork cracking on top served with a goose pate creme brûlée style. It was ok but I wouldn't order it again. Coming here for the first time I had to order The Duck and Waffle and I opted for the Garden Spritz mocktail. The mocktail was nice but a little bitter maybe from roasted red pepper flavour. The main was perfect! I loved how the duck was full of flavour and crispy on the outside. The maple syrup served on the side to pour on top of your main added a bit of sweetness and moisture to the roasted duck and waffle. There are only three items on this plate and each one compliments the other. I would order this main again. For the dessert I had the chocolate blondie. The cake was like a cookie dough consistency which I did not like much but the raspberry sorbet on the side made up the dessert. I am giving this place top marks as not just the food is amazing but also the service is spot on. Each staff was very attentive and courteous. Also the city views being 40 storey high is spectacular. I highly recommend this place. One of my favourite in London.

It’s also open 24 hours, as well, which is handy – although getting a booking can sometimes be tricky, so you’re better off doing it in advance! Superb!! What a wonderful setting 40 stories up overlooking London city. Food menu looked strange and we decided to choose a number of the small plates. Wow delicious and flavours all round. A huge must is the signature dish " the duck and waffle" was simply yummy.

Sunday morning and we were headed for brunch. But not just any brunch, mind you. A sky-high brunch at Duck & Waffle. I’ve been meaning to visit this well-known establishment since I moved to London 19-months ago. Talk about a long time coming, and now that I’ve had my first taste, I can’t believe it took so long because I tell you, it’s damn good.

After hearing all the hype, I finally had a chance to try it out. I was there for a private dining event and had the Full English Menu instead of the signature Duck and Waffle dish. It was good but not amazing. Nice cappuccino though.

Although generally really nice and helpful, a couple of the staff members were either rude, less accomodating or inflexible compare to other venues I've worked with for corporate functions. Not great but I'll go back.

Never would I have thought that I would be having waffles on the 40th floor of a building in London at 4am but alas thanks to Duck & Waffle I can tick that one off my bucket list.
It scores 10 out of 10 for ambiance and view. Maybe not as highly for the food - but don't get me wrong, it is still pretty amazing! I think I built up the expectations so much that I was expecting to be completely mind blown.
The dish that names the restaurant, duck & waffle, was delicious but I felt there was a missing link between the three elements (waffle, duck and egg). My company had the lamb which I tried and thought it was flavorful but tasting too lamb-y (if that is even a word...) for my taste which does not mean it wouldn't please lamb fans.
We also had desert in the form of banana brûlée waffles and because we were really curious about the cherries on the other sweet option we had that on the side as well. If I had to choose I would definitely go for the cherries instead of the banana as their tartness helps balance the sweetness of the rest of the dish. Having said that the waffles, chocolate spread and hazelnuts are delicious!
Service is ok, nice but too slow even when we showed we were clearly in a rush due to the air con being too cold. Still they sat us in a very nice corner table with an amazing view, which definitely contributed to the entire experience being really good.

Good food. Good dining experience. Great view!

Ordered the following:

Polenta - 3/5
Lacked cheesiness and salt but still good.

Bbq Spicy Pig's Ear - 4.5/5
YUMMMY. Coming from Manila and giving this dish a try, makes me think of so many possibilities we could do with the ingredient.

Rosemary garlic bread - 3/5
Lacked in taste for me

Yellowfish Tuna - 4/5
Not fishy at all, served on Himalayan Salt which is very unique!

Creme Brulee Foie Gras - 3.5/5
I am a fool for creme brulee. This dish was very uniquely made, combined sweetness of a creme brulee and the flavors of foie gras. It's a bit heavy actually.

Jerusalem Artichoke Ravioli - 4/5

By this time I forgot what this dish is made of.. But it was very good nevertheless! Yummy flavors combined in a dish.

Good thing we were able to book a table on our short stay here :)

Duck and waffle serve British and European cuisine on the 40th-floor of a sky scraper with floor-to-ceiling Windows and an glass elevator, so the views on the way up are just as captivating as when you get to the top. Duck and waffle also operate 24/7 so they never close, so if you get hungry late at night or if fancy a sneaky late night cocktail then this is the place to be.

When we went we didn't eat but we did have some of their world famous artisanal cocktails but be warned those things are STRONG!!! Their cocktail menu changes all the time so you always have a good reason for a revisit. Their cocktail are a bit expensive but you are definitely getting a lot of alcohol for your money. Seating in the bar is very limited and service is a little slow but it definitely has a relaxed upmarket feel (If your lucky you might spot a celeb or two). Perfect place for a birthday or a special occasion.

Ever since Duck and Waffle opened to fantastic reviews I’ve wanted to go and if it costs £30 to go up the Shard why not go eat at one of the best restaurants in London and get good views as well! So one day I finally plucked up the courage to pick up the phone and make that advance reservation; to secure a time that a sane person would eat at.

What can I say? A wonderful place with a wonderful panoramic view of the City. We are on the top of the Heron Tower, drinking something and London below us.
At the entrance just few controls by some guards, and then climb on the top of the building. You can choose between the bar and the restaurant. At 5 .p.m. we decided to drink a green tea for me and a Japanese Asai beer for my boyfriend.
The service is good, but remember to have with you your credit card, because, such as in many American bar, they want it at the beginning of the service until you stay there.
The bill was a little bit expensive, but the view was worth.

Duck & Waffle seems to be a place that everyone talks about.  If you haven't been before, you know that you'll go there eventually. I was relieved to find out that it lived up to the hype. The concept is a 24 hour restaurant and bar, located high up in the Heron Tower so it offers amazing views of London.  People regularly have stories of dropping in after a big night out to watch the sunrise.

The restaurant is so super busy! There are tonnes of people! It's overwhelming in a good way and it creates such a good ambiance and feel to the place. The roasted octopus was mediocre but I still ate it all! So can hardly complain. But the pigs ears are a whole new level! We ordered more afterwards because they were so good! The second lot weren't as good so maybe they're hit and miss. The Duck and Waffles weren't as good as they had been made out to be but still enjoyable enough. Just needed a little less cooking time. The service is a bit slow presumably because of how busy it was but it just took a very long time to order and pay. You really have to grab the waiter's attention. Probably wouldn't pay £14 for the chocolate and blue cheese Martini, Stilton tastes better on crackers with a grape or two not with chocolate. Although it wasn't unpleasant, it just wasn't my favourite but my boyfriend slurped it up so maybe it's me. However, I'd pay £15 for a Marmite Black Velvet any day. That beautiful champagne, silky Marmite, I can't explain how good it tasted. The food was okay, the service was slow, the cocktails were fairly good and the ambiance was great. Not to mention the lovely view. The Duck & Waffle is good but over rated x x x

A reservation is a must! Always packed ! Its 24/7, so late nights are usually their busiest hours.

Food was very average. A solid 6/10 for everything we tried except 1 dish.

The Duck & Waffle dish - 10/10. Super tasty and it all tasted perfect with the maple syrup combining it all together. Perfect cooked duck, soft and crisp waffle and a banging duck egg.

They should drop all other options on their menu and only serve the duck and waffle, 24/7.

We arrived and were greeted by lovely staff and ordered two mimosa's at the bar while we waited for our friends to arrive.

The mimosa's were warm and not worth the £15 each.

When our friends arrived we asked to be seated at our table. The waitress told us that if we hang on a couple of minutes she could give us a table by the window! This was great so we waited.

We were then seated and the table was great with a view of the gherkin behind us.

It took 30 minutes for anyone to come over and take our order.

We ordered some snacks to eat before the mains which the waitress recommended we tried.

They never came which was disappointing.

For mains we ordered 2 x Duck and waffles and 2 x Duck Congee.

The Duck and waffle was very bland nothing special.

The Duck Congee was gorgeous!
-confit duck / slow cooked organic egg / spring onion /
ginger / hazelnuts / hot sauce

I recommend you order it.

Visited Duck & Waffle a month ago, when my friend came to visit me. Heard a lot about the place already and was very curious about it, so one weekend, I've decided to invite my friend there. That was absolutely lovely! The gourmet food, nice atmosphere, friendly staff! 20th November 2015

This was my 2nd time here for breakfast and it was absolutely stunning being able to catch the sunrise with GOOD food.

My first visit was for a special occasion - the food, atmosphere and service made it memorable.

The second visit i had the poached eggs with oxcheek on a waffle. It was so delicious. The service was brilliant, we asked whether we could be seated by the window walls which they were happy to switch and the food came out relatively quick. Quick enough that we made it back to work on time for 9am.

Comfy restaurant with good service and delicious food. You have to book like months ahead for good time. I booked a month ahead and got 7 a.m. appointment. The service was good but sometimes it is difficult to get waiters attention on the table. I tried the duck and waffle with wild mushroom. The dish include 1 duck egg sunny side up, 1 duck confit, and half a circle of waffle with syrup. The duck confit was very yummy and crispy, and even though I underestimated the "waffle" in this dish, it turned out to be one of the best waffle I have had. Fried duck egg turned out to be very similar to fried chicken egg (taste and size) but cooked perfectly nontheless. The wild mushroom was also well seasoned and compliment the whole dish really well. The price was reasonable for all the experience.

Duck & Waffle is one of the first restaurants which made it on my London's bucket list.

I had meant to visit for months but never went ahead to book a table. With my parents visit coinciding with my mum's birthday, I knew it was about time I finally stepped foot in Heron Tower's lifts for dinner in the sky!

The views are just as breath-taking as you'd expect, the decoration is fantastic and the cocktails are also quite fabulous.

But the food? I'm still not quite sure what to think, and I think it's fair to say I was a bit disappointed...
Not that there's anything inherently wrong with it. It's creative and decadent and everything it promises on paper. But it's simply not as good as many say it is.

The summer's already a distant dream - it's felt particularly chilly these last few mornings - but the memory of the delicious dinner I had at Duck & Waffle to celebrate Alex's birthday remains fresh in my mind. We got into the glass elevator and whizzed up 40 floors to the restaurant (the highest in London, apparently), the City sparkling below us as it geared up for Saturday night. Duck & Waffle makes the most of its excellent views with its full-length glass windows - not a restaurant for the acrophobics among us! Fortunately, neither of us have a fear of heights, and I felt extremely lucky indeed when we were shown to a table in the corner, a position allowing both of us skyline views...

I've been admiring the menu of duck and waffle for some time.  I always liked the fact that several dishes seem to mix sweet with savory elements.  Finally got a chance to try the menu tonight.

Views are wonderful, and the free elevator ride to the bar is worth a detour to the City.  Service was attentive, we got fresh cutlery between starters and mains.  The cutlery let us down.  Knives so dull we struggled to cut bread with them.

We were a table of four who shared everything.  First order to arrive was fried polenta which was delicious but a tiny bar-snack-for-one sized portion.  Great sauce of cream cheese and truffle.  Next came bread with artichoke and parmesan.  Nice warm spongy bread and there was a lot of it.  Would only order the breads to share.  The ox cheek doughnut with apricot compote was our third starter.  Everyone else at the table loved it, but it didn't thrill me, probably because I am not crazy about braised beef, which formed the filling.  The steak tartare was quite lovely.  Roughly chopped instead of minced, so a nice texture.  Well seasoned and containing pickled onion which gave it an original twist.

For mains we had the eponymous duck and waffle, the vegetarian Jerusalem artichoke ravioli, and the sharing dish of a whole roast chicken.  Our waiter warned us that the chicken would take 45 minutes to arrive, so its nice to find out everything is cooked fresh from scratch and not partially prepared in advance.

Duck and waffle was good but not astounding.  Confit duck leg was tasty but could have been saltier and richer for my taste.  I've had plenty of better confit in France.  Pillowy waffle was excellent.  Jerusalem artichoke ravioli were the highlight of our mains.  The topping of crumbled nuts fried in butter was amazing.  Roast chicken was elevated by accompanying sauce of wild mushroom (mostly chanterelle), greens and truffle infused gravy.

We asked for the unfinished chicken to be packed up in a takeaway box, so that we could save room for dessert.  Not a problem.  The four of us shared a baked alaska.  Nice ice cream and meringue freshened up with poached fresh figs and micro basil.

I enjoyed my experience at Duck and Waffle, but the wine prices are  pretty hefty.   The cheapest bottle of red is £30.  Copious dinner for 4 with 2 bottles of the cheapest red and some leftover chicken and mushrooms  for tomorrow's lunch was £193 including service.  Pricing of mains was very good as portions were quite large.  Pricing of starters on the other hand was rather high relative to portion size, with the exception of the breads.  If you only share small plates, the bill will be considerably higher.

WOW Duck & Waffle is amazing! I went here while visiting London from Australia and I am already planning on coming back to Duck & Waffle on my next visit to London. The views are amazing overlooking the city. I had the Full Elvis and it was one of the best breakfast's I've had. Compliments to the chef. I love the combination of flavours in this dish from the berries to the peanut butter, candied banana all combined in a waffle. You would think it would be really indulgent but it was really satisfying not too decadent which was perfect. I will be returning for sure.

Amazing place. There were some extremely strange pairings, like for example, our cocktails of the night! I got a Roasted Cosmo 2.0 which was a concoction of Grey Goose Le Citron, orange liqueur, rosemary hydrosol, roasted bone marrow infusion and cranberry. We also had a Monkey Shoulder whisky with lemon, sugar, egg whites and truffle.
It was enough sweetness and sourness, with the best truffle aroma and after taste. It was sensational. I had to resist all urges to keep sipping his one. Anything with truffle is an instant yes for me. My one was as intriguing though, the flavours actually worked well together but extremely strange when it feels like you’re eating a strawberry and then bone marrow fat in one go…

The Duck and Waffle dish blew me away. The duck was full of sweet fatty goodness. We agreed that the duck was cooked with like a chinese five spice? because tasted more asian-y. I am salivating thinking about this forkful.

The Spicy Oxcheek Doughnut, with apricot jam, smoked paprika sugar was incredibly too. This enormous deep fried bao (it was literally the size of my two fists) encased soft shredded spicy oxcheek. I love paprika so I really enjoyed the generous coating of the paprika sugar on the outside! It was sitting on top of an apricot jam sauce, and together everything was just YES. I really loved this.

Service was also impeccable, we were greeted warmly at the reception and when told our table wasn’t ready, it didn’t even matter because we got to enjoy the city light views with our cocktails that came out in like 5 minutes after ordering. There was no sense of the waiters rushing for us to leave either, we got lucky with window seating too, and the waiter at the end kindly informed us about the bar opening hours and etc downstairs in case we wanted to kick on

A recent visit to Duck and Waffle brought back the fond memories of visiting the restaurant for my 22nd Birthday. The tallest restaurant in London boasts spectacular views of the city and if you're blessed with a table overlooking 'The Gherkin' you're in for a treat. The restaurant and bar offer a chic design and the intimate feeling in the restaurant makes for a perfect evening. The food is British tapas with plenty of small quirky plates as well as a selection of cocktails to make for a delicious feast. When we first went the dishes that impressed were the renowned Crispy Pigs Ears, Lamb Chops which were cooked perfectly, Squid with a fusion of delicious flavours and of course the signature dish, Duck and Waffle. The mix of views, delectable food and top notch service (complimentary oysters and a birthday cake) it makes for a special occasion treat.

Wow! What a view ! It's well worth a visit just for the fantastic panorama of London. It is open 24/7, and we were there for a Sunday breakfast. At 10 in the morning it was almost full, and we were lucky to get a nice table without prior reservation. I had the proper English breakfast ( 15 GBP ), and it was ok, but the real hit of the morning was my companion's Full Elvis waffle with peanut butter, various fruits and whipped cream. Total bliss ! The service is polite and efficient, and the atmosphere lively and friendly. One more thing - the lift that takes you up is all glass, and travels at great speed, so if you are scared of heights like me, better keep your eyes shut :)

Breakfast with a view, I can’t think of a better way to start the day! Upon researching some of the best places to eat in London, I stumbled across Duck and Waffles in the heart of London city where you can enjoy phenomenal European and British cuisine with a view to match. Located on the 40th floor in the Heron Tower, it is the highest restaurant in the United Kingdom. The stunning unparalleled view of the cityscape is the perfect accompaniment to the rustic dishes which Duck and Waffles are known for.

Finding the small entrance that leads to the elevator was an uneasy task, but the power of Google Map meant that we were only 10 minutes late for our reservation (and yes, you will need a reservation). The dining area offers a panoramic view of the busy city and we were lucky to get a table right by the edge, allowing us to take in the scenery while we waited for our food.

Despite my sister and I wanting to try different things, we both couldn’t resist ordering their signature confit duck leg on waffles. What an utter delight! Fluffy sweet waffles with a beautifully cooked crispy duck leg confit and topped with a fried duck egg. This was accompanied with a maple syrup with a delicate hint of mustard. Thinking that it wouldn’t be enough, we foolishly ordered two sides of hash browns which we did not manage to finish.

We were very pleased that we decided to give Duck and Waffles a try. Intending to come for lunch, my last minute reservation meant that they could only fit us in at 8AM! It took a lot of planning to make sure that we made it on time, considering the commute took us over 40 minutes. But it was worth the early morning! If you’re planning a visit to London in the near future, make sure you include Duck and Waffles in your itinerary!

I booked Duck & Waffle weeks ago- and then on the hottest day the year- I took my sweaty and bedraggled self to the Heron Tower to dine in the sky. Once the doormen deemed me worthy to walk beyond their velvet ropes (and even then I'm sure it was only because we had a reservation) we took that spectacular lift up to the 40th floor.

From then on, I experienced the nicest and friendliest service I've ever had in this city. We were given a table by the window and our server was swiftly taking our orders and offering help to decipher the cryptic dish names. We made our order and waited for the food to arrive...

The ox cheek doughnut with apricot jam was larger than I expected. I'm a huge fan of sweet and savoury flavours together, so this was right up my street. The savouriness of the slow cooked meat combined with the sweet crust of the doughnut it was encased in was delicious.

The yellowfin tuna and curried salmon on poppadums was fresh, clean and chilled which was perfect in this swampy weather.

The foie gras creme brûlée was rich, smooth and just like the real thing, you had to crack the top to get to the creamy pate underneath. I loved the mini loaf of brioche that was served alongside it to spread the pate onto.

To top off our meal, we shared the signature duck and waffle dish- one is plenty to share by the way. The waffle was crisp on the outside by fluffy inside- as was the duck leg! Crispy outer shell and tender meat. Though not normally a fan of mustard I couldn't detect it in the mustard maple syrup- great for me, maybe not so great if you were expecting a hit of the stuff. I now understand the hype behind this dish- so simple but delightful!

Dessert was not shared however! I had the baked Alaska- strawberry sorbet encased in a fluffy meringue torched on the tips- surrounded by strawberry bits and coulis, on a cakey shell. It was tart and not overly sweet or overpowering.

My fiancé ordered the pistachio and chocolate macaron with cherries- it was a beauty! Pistachio macaron shells with a generous portion of velvety chocolate mousse, dotted with black cherries. This is a dish that could easily be shared between two as it was very rich and sweet.

All in all, I now understand the hype over this place. Would love to return for brunch!

Now I’m not good with heights so luckily the lovely bloggers I was brunching with (Emma, Kara, Sam and Mina) were waiting for me in the lobby to take the scary ride up to the 40th floor which is extremely quick (but it’s a VERY long ride if you hate heights; I felt weak in the knees when we got to the top).

I enjoyed a lovely midnight meal at Duck and Waffle at the Heron Tower; this is the second time that I've dined here and both times past midnight. What is it about Duck and Waffle we love so much? For some, it's a place for people to mark a special occasion; and for others; a lifestyle to enjoy an evening of fine dining with delicious cocktails at the sky high bar. Duck and Waffle is a British European cuisine that serves 24/7 on the 40th floor, the highest restaurant in the UK. Our table was booked for 1am and we ordered:

Roasted Octopus £13: with chorizo, baby potatoes and pickled cucumber.
The portion size was small; I considered it as a starter/tapas as opposed to a main, but it was really delicious and worth trying.

Duck Egg en Cocotte £13: vegetarian option with wild mushrooms, gruyere, truffle and soldiers (basically bread slices to dip into the dish). However, my friend didn't want the bread slices and the waiter recommended well the replace the bread slices for waffles. That gives me the thumbs up for service!

Dark Chocolate Brownie Sundae with Peanut Crunch £10: we shared this delectable sundae; it wasn't anything special but we needed a chocolate fix so I wouldn't order this again.

Service: standard was very good; however inconsistent during busy times. When  you have their attention; they are fantastic and make wonderful recommendations; but when they are really busy their attention to detail slip which is unfortunate. However; they managed to redeem themselves.

Highly anticipated visit after patiently waiting for a table for 2 months for brunch and after a tense week of predicted rain, the sun came out to play! The service from the beginning was a good 9/10 and the waiters were attentive. We were lucky enough to have a table right by the table (a lot of the tables for 2 are) and obviously there are amazing views. We ordered the duck and waffle (you pretty much have to!) and the big breakfast together with a glass of wine, a mamousa and a tea! This including service was £66 = considering the quality of the food and the surprisingly good portion sizes not to mention the view, I thought this was actually pretty reasonable. Only slightly odd thing I noticed was the "cloakroom" basically consists of putting items on chairs. recommended.

Unlike my recent trip to Barnyard where I successfully made it through the doors of a restaurant within a month of it opening, Duck & Waffle has been on my to-visit list for about 680 days. Located on the 40th floor of the Heron Tower in the City of London, Duck & Waffle made it’s debut to the London restaurant scene in the summer of 2012 (about 680 days ago). With 24/7 opening hours and magnificent views of the London skyline, Duck & Waffle is undoubtedly on the to-do list of many visitors to the city.

I'm an all-or-nothing type of person; I don't do things by halves. Blame it on my American enthusiasm, but I basically want everything to be the best ever - like, all the time. So when my friends made the long journeys from their respective corners of the US, I wanted them to have the best time. So I took them to brunch at Duck & Waffle - a restaurant on the 40th floor of Heron Tower which, despite being blogged/Instagrammed/toured to death - saves itself from clichéd status because of its genuinely innovative and delicious food, not to mention its unsurpassed views of the city.

When my alarm started sounding at 06:30am on a day off, I did doubt the table I'd booked a few weeks before. Yes, I had to book weeks in advance and yes, the only booking I could get was 08:15am. But, eating breakfast 230m in the clouds at Duck & Waffle sure is an experience. Check out my mini review on Urban Spoon here . I spent Friday night in Brighton meeting some other food bloggers and we enjoyed some great Tapas in Solera . It was the perfect place to go for a larger group, the Sangria was great and I'm still surprised at how reasonable the bill was.  Crumbs and Doilies has proved to me that cupcakes were definitely not a phase and I still love them. Not only have I enjoyed scrolling through their Instagram snaps , Jemma the owner's how-to's on YouTube , they also have the cutest packaging I've seen in a long time.  Speaking of YouTube, I worked on a little recipe for Onken as part of their #OnkenTips campaign. Using yogurt in baking is a great alternative to fat and it ensures your bakes are light, moist and creamy. In this video you'll see me and some fellow bloggers give a quick run through our #OnkenTips. If you fancy giving the lemon and blueberry loaf cake a go, the recipe can be found on their Facebook page . And now, after all this cupcake and waffle eating, I'm off to prepare some 'healthy' work meals for the week ahead!

The duck and waffle was excellent. But not as excellent as the bbq spiced pigs ears served in a brown paper bag. Goodness. If I were cast away on a desert island and permitted just one luxury - it would be those ears at a fiver a bag.

Complaints:

1. The cocktails were extraordinarily expensive, and didn't quite deliver on the promise of their descriptions. But the pigs ears had possibly over-raised my expectations.
2. The waiter was extremely annoying. We had a 3:30pm seating - it was a two hour slot. At 4pm, I wanted to order another savoury dish off the menu. As in: an extra starter instead of a dessert (because the waffle did come with syrup). At which point, the kitchen was "closed" for everything but sweets. Although they were continuing to seat people. I raised multiple incredulous eyebrows multiple times. Quite loudly.

So enjoy the view, and the pig ears - and if you want to order more than one dish on the menu, do it all at once.

When you ask adults if they celebrate birthdays, they usually fall into one of three categories. There are those who loathe them; they ignore the existence of such a thing because that would remind them that yes, they are indeed getting older. For some people, myself included, it’s pretty much just another day… of course it’s nice to do something to mark the occasion, a couple of presents wouldn’t be so bad either but if nothing happens then oh well, it’s not the end of the world. Then we have the ones who truly love birthdays; they mark every year with a hiss and a roar because it’s the day you came into the world for goodness sake, if that’s not worth a toast or three, what else is?

Located high atop the heart of London on the 40th floor of the Heron Tower, Duck & Waffle has been delighting patrons since its opening in 2012 with a combo of spectacular views in conjunction with an equally spectacular modern European menu. But if this is what has made Duck & Waffle famous, then it's 24/7 opening hours is what has made them infamous, providing an extremely high class alternative to a drunk kebab for many city drinkers.

I prefer my visits at a more civil hour with my favourite being breakfast watching the sun rise over London and seeing the city come to life while tucking into a hearty plate of deliciousness.

On this visit, we started with a classic selection of fresh pastries to whet the appetite before moving onto mains of the ox cheek benedict, smoked finnan haddock with poached eggs & hash browns and the eye-popping Full Elvis (which comprises peanut butter and jam, banana brulee and chantilly cream on a fresh waffle).

Suffice to say, the food was of high quality, utilising fresh, seasonal produce and treating it with the respect it deserves. My highlight was the ox cheek benedict which incidentally is also a personal favourite. The braised ox cheek is beautiful and good enough to be had 3 meals a day but it is the hollandaise sauce which I love the most; rich, full and silky smooth. However, the signature Duck & Waffle of confit duck served on fresh waffle with maple syrup is a can't miss for any first time diner and I can highly recommend it from personal experience.

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day and if that is so, then a daily visit to Duck & Waffle is almost obligatory. The food is consistently good and that view is simply breathtaking. Go see for yourself.

We were really pleased with our position, a comfy booth with a round table so it was easy to talk to everyone. We could also gaze out at the glittering London skyline from our perfect vantage point. The restaurant was very busy and as it's one of the most popular in London, it's very hard to get a booking - I booked exactly two months in advance for a table of six on a Saturday night.

What I love about the menu at Duck & Waffle is that it includes some favourite British comfort foods and dishes but gives them a unique and innovative twist. There is a mixture of smaller dishes for sampling and larger dishes to share but this a place where you'll want to everything, so order as much as possible and share it!

A classic beef tartare is given a facelift with the addition of leek kimchi, smoked chilli and hay oil.
Octopus can sometime go horribly wrong but I loved Dan Doherty's dish which perfectly pairs the sea creature with a spicy chorizo sausage.

Duck & Waffle claims to be the highest restaurant in the UK. The view from the restaurant is pretty awesome. It's in the Heron Tower (same as Sushisamba)

We ordered the "Duck & Waffle" – of course we ordered this, no brainer really. I don’t normally like sweets mixed with savouries (e.g. pancake, maple syrup, and bacon) so I wasn’t sure if I would like this. But I did! A duck leg confit sits on top of a plain waffle, which is then topped by a massive fried duck egg, with salt sprinkle. Goes extremely well with the mustard maple syrup.

We also ordered the House Breakfast - a big fry up consisting of two eggs (sunny side up, of course), bacon, pork & herb sausage, grilled mushroom, grilled tomato, Scottish black pudding, hashbrown (amazing), baked beans, and sourdough toast. Yum.

We shared a dessert of Belgian waffles with banana brulee (crispy caramelised top) and homemade nutella (tastes great, but looks like cat sick in the photo).

Breakfast in the sky. After mixed reviews, my boyfriend and I decided to book a table for breakfast (deeming that we'd like more of the food than from the dinner menu). Booked two weeks in advance we only managed to get an 08:15am reservation on a Thursday, which albeit early on a day off, turned out better than expected.

I had been a little curious as to what the service would be like and whether we'd feel out of place there. We couldn't have been more wrong. Staff were friendly, welcoming and we felt completely and utterly relaxed wandering around snapping photos of the view whilst waiting for our table.

At this early time it was relatively quiet, mostly informal breakfast meetings on the other surrounding tables. So possibly the best time to go. Also, all the tables for two tend to be around the edge of the restaurant, offering the best views.

I ordered bananas brulee, which comes with waffles, homemade nutella and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The nutella was so good I could have, gracefully, licked the plate clean. My boyfriend ordered the cooked breakfast and claimed that the highlight was the herby sausages and bubble and squeak-style hash browns.

The views really made the experience. So surreal to watch commuters bustle around on the ground from all the way up in the sky. For a restaurant in the heart of the City, you certainly feel miles away from the rat race as you watch the clouds go by.

For two breakfasts, two coffees, orange juice and service, our bill came to £44. Completely worth it for the best breakfast experience the City has to offer.

Duck and waffle provides a new experience in the sense that you dine with such a great view but the quality of the dishes lack some consistency. I must also mention that some of the dishes are just too expensive for what they are ; the roasted octopus cost me £13 which is quite steep for the portion that was served.

Duck and Waffle really ticks all the boxes for me: the food is consistently top-notch, the ambiance is casual and comfortable and the food prices are very reasonable. On top of all this, the restaurant is open 24 hours, so cravings can be satisfied at any time of day. I can tell you from experience that there is nothing quite like a confit duck leg on some waffles at 1AM in the morning, which is why the place is often still full of diners at that hour of day (night?).

In the fickle world of 2013 East London, food is fashion – and fashion conquers all.  Duck & Waffle sits at the pinnacle of this very trendy scene – both in a literal sense – it is located on the fortieth floor of the Heron Tower in EC2, immediately above its sister restaurant, the atrocious Sushi Samba – and figuratively too – there are few things as currently on-trend as re-purposed British food or gimmicky dishes, and the ‘Duck scores a big greasy tick in both of these boxes. Despite being open for the best part of nine months, it’s taken me this long get up there (didn’t want to appear too keen, now, did I?).  Duck & Waffle is perfectly and sadly typecast as a Hipster-Restaurant – and right from the first minute the place smacks of being too cool for school, from the island-like, inside-out, poorly guarded dispense bar that is an advert for drunken theft attempts and that done-to-death ‘ reclaimed-rickety-wood-poverty-chic ’ look that graces only the most select places in the East

Perched high above Liverpool St, financial and fashionable types come together to eat in one of London’s most hyped new restaurants: Duck & Waffle. Though while you might think this will be a passing gimmick, the quality of the food (and service) says that it might be around longer than some expected. The cooking at Duck & Waffle is very strong, with a bistro-style menu that has been innovatively elevated by a talented team. They show how a concept restaurant can really deliver the goods. Even though some may find the dishes a bit on the rich side, this is bistro, and bistro isn’t meant to serve light food. But if that’s what you want, you’ve got Sushi Samba two floors down. Though there are some lighter options on the menu too, such as the delicate yellow fin tuna, presented on a block of Himalayan salt with watermelon. D&W’s mainstay is its traditional, creamy cuisine, which is a pleasure for the eyes and the nose. The smoked chilli braised pigs’ cheeks are a perfect example of this,

Swooshed up to the 40th floor by elevator to the breathtaking panoramic London views in the plush surroundings of Duck & Waffle. The food at Duck & Waffle is as dramatic as its view and Bond would probably be tempted to try out the many uber-delicious dishes. Blinded by the view and all the food porn in front of him he’d forget all about his mission to jump by jet-booster from the Heron Towers to Tower 42 in order to catch his evil nemesis Ducky McDuckster…scrap that, James Bond had better not visit Duck & Waffle and stick to ordering stirred Martini’s in casino bars.

What is it with restaurants: the better the view, the worse the food. Eating in Paris? Not at the Eiffel Tower.  Looking for proper Venetian cuisine  Don't linger too long on Piazza San Marco.  Searching for the burgeoning British food movement  Skip on by the BT Tower.  You get the idea!  So when I heard that a new restaurant was opening at the top of the Heron Tower, I wasn't all that excited.  Given that Duck and Waffle has views over the whole of London, surely the food would be the same old drudgery.  It is not.

Duck & Waffle, not content with the unique appeal of being at the top of one of Europe's tallest buildings, added further to its proposition by opening all day, every day, so being there for you when other restaurants simply aren't. The combination of theses two factors pretty much guarantees D&W a good trade so you might think that they wont be trying so hard with the food, but then you'd be wrong.

At the top of the Heron Tower in Bishopsgate is a complex of bars and two restaurants, all with impressive views over London. On the 40th floor is Duck and Waffle, an all-day (soon to be 24 hour) restaurant serving an eclectic mix of dishes, which opened in the summer of 2012. The view is striking, with picture windows on three sides of the dining room. You gain access to the restaurant via a lift which is to the right of the main entrance to the tower as you are facing it; I mention this because when I first visited, the doorman at the main entrance seemed unaware of it, and there was no signage. It is a glass lift, so you get a fine view over London as you ascend the 40 floors, or presumably cower in abject terror if you suffer from vertigo. The lift ride down resembles a theme park ride as you hurtle towards the ground.

Amazing food! If you're looking for a restaurant with great food and that overlooks London then I'd recommend Duck & Waffle.

As a group of 4, we ordered a variety of starters to share before ordering the famous duck and waffle dish for our mains.

We tried the oysters, garlic bread, spicy ox cheek doughnut and dates with feta cheese, which were my favourite. Do be warned, the starters are quite filling so we did struggle with our mains! The ox cheek doughnut was recommended by the staff but was a bit too strong for our tastes.

The confit duck leg, duck egg served with mustard maple syrup and a waffle gave a delicious sweet - savoury combo.

I have wanted to go to The Heron Tower for breakfast at the Duck and Waffle, 40 floors above London, for such a long time!  It was pretty much empty when we arrived so we took a seat by the window on the east side of the building and barely spoke as we sat and stared out over London.  We watched the sky begin to get lighter and lighter as our table filled up with tea and the tastiest freshly squeezed orange juice.

My boyfriend is a bit of a fussy eater so instead of going for the English breakfast and asking them to leave the grilled tomato, field mushroom and Scottish black pudding in the kitchen, he decided to do a little DIY breakfast and chose a pork & herb sausage, organic duroc bacon and sourdough toast from the sides menu.

I’m more conventional and went for the duck ‘n’ waffle which was a crispy leg confit and fried duck egg on a waffle with mustard maple syrup to smother it in.  It was amazing and I had to restrain myself from picking up the duck leg with my fingers to ensure that I’d taken off all of the meat.

The staff were so friendly for people who were at work that early in the morning (I wouldn’t be able to do it) and the food and view were well worth getting out of bed for.   I was expecting it to be extortionately expensive but got a happy shock when the bill arrived and I didn’t have to extend the overdraft on my student bank account. This would be a great present for someone as a birthday treat or even if you’re just looking for something different and out of the ordinary that won’t completely break the bank!

Finally I get to review this place!!

Firstly, I had to book a month and a half in advance to get a table for 5 for evening dinner. That's expected I suppose for this level of dining. A small gripe I suppose.

When we arrived, I have to admit, even though I knew the restaurant was on the 40th floor, it still surprises me, the view was incredible. We had a booking for 7:30pm and we arrived about 30 mins early. We had drinks at this very unusual bar (it seemed inside out). I had a soft drink which they charged £3 for, again expected. My friend had a Japanese bottle beer which was £7, ouch!

We were seated promptly at 7:30pm, they're very organised. We started with a selection of oysters, the Jersey oysters were the best. We also got this artichoke bread which was amazing. We had some 'small plates' or starters as they are more commonly known. I had the brûlée Fois Gras with lobster and toast. This tasted good but even one small spoon of the Fois gras was super rich to the point I felt quite full after eating it. One of my friends had this pollock meatball with lobster cream, that tasted amazing. Another one had the octopus with chorizo, he said it was ok, more chewy than squid but tasted ok.

Moving on to the mains, I was a little worried the Fois gras may have stinted my appetite a bit, we all ordered the same thing, they're signature dish, the duck and waffle. When it arrived, the smell of the confit duck was made my mouth water straight away and I completely forgot about the Fois gras. It's served with a waffle, a fried duck egg and Canadian maple syrup with mustard seeds.

The duck itself was absolutely delicious, you could serve that on anything and it'd still be amazing. The waffle was unfortunately warm and not as crisp as I expected. The egg was gorgeous and worked perfectly with the duck and waffle. The maple syrup complements the dish well in very small quantity as it is very strong and can easily overpower the dish.

Overall, the restaurant is beautiful with the most amazing views. The food was delicious but not perfect. The bill came to about £70 per person. If you are a duck confit fan, I can't stop talking about Frenchie, a food van at the Southbank, which serves a duck confit burger with duck crackling, blue cheese and truffle honey. It's still the best burger I've ever had and all for £6.00. But not to detract too much, the restaurant is a special event kinda place and it delivers that very well.

I absolutely love Duck & Waffle! I have been there four times with the latest being my mother-in-law's birthday.
The restaurant looks ok and it has an open kitchen, the best parts are definitely the view and the food.
Situated on the 42nd floor of Heron Tower near Liverpool Street station Duck & Waffle has a breathtaking 360* view of London. When making a reservation ask for a table by the windows , it's definitely worth it.
Before your meal try a cocktail at the bar with view on the Gherkin.
We have always been there for the brunch - my favourite plates are the Duck & Waffle and the English breakfast with eggs benedict. Also give a try to the crispy pig ears.
Never been there for dinner but it must be awesome especially in summer.

Excellent food with spectacular city views. We ordered the eponymous duck and waffle, and looking around you quickly realise this is their most iconic dish. Beautiful dug leg with a fried egg, waffle and syrup. The combination really worked. I'm less enthusiastic about their cocktails, however. They cost as much as a main meal and while the two we had were nice, they seemed extraordinarily pricey. Service was excellent. Oh and the starter of crispy pig ears was a standout. Must try.

I have a few really good meals at D&W now and whilst the signature dish is great, don't over look the other dishes (including the smaller plates). The ox cheek dishes, bacon wrapped dates, flat breads and squid were all v memorable. I also developed a real fondness for the cocktails, especially the old fashioned with 8 year old Bacardi w/tobacco bitters.

The brunch menu features breakfast items (some familiar and some not), savoury dishes, desserts and drinks. We were in the mood for a boozy, indulgent brunch, so we started off with some champagne and, on our waiter's recommendation, a small plate of bacon-wrapped dates.

Do not dismiss these as overly simple starters - these were packed with flavour.

Duck & Waffle serves many sharing dishes, and we decided to follow this ethos when we ordered. For the breakfast dishes, we chose the ox cheek benedict and the restaurant's signature meal - the duck and waffle.

Eggs benedict is my go-to breakfast dish, but this one made any former version appear inferior. The ox cheek was tender, the eggs perfectly poached and the hollandaise was complemented by the slight kick of the accompanying sriracha sauce.

As for the duck and waffle - oh, I could go on forever. Imagine a fluffy waffle coupled with an immaculately cooked duck leg - complete with crispy skin - finished off with a fried egg and lashings of maple-mustard sauce; it was heavenly.

We had heard good things about their, at-times unusual, cocktails (there's even a Marmite one for the especially adventurous) so Chris ordered a ristretto negroni while I went for the roasted pumpkin and honeyed chestnut bellini. For the latter, I can only describe it as 'Christmas in a cocktail'.

And, since we were already there and Duck & Waffle bookings are notoriously difficult to get, we decided that we couldn't just ignore the dessert menu.

After much debate (punctuated with getting distracted by the amazing views around us), we ordered the special waffle of the day, as well as the torrejas.

The special was a chocolate waffle served with fresh berries, roasted nuts, ice cream and chocolate sauce. We were looking for indulgence and we definitely got it with this dessert.

Our torrejas turned out to be my favourite dish of the entire day. Think bread-and-butter pudding, and then realise that the common version of this can't even compare to what Duck & Waffle serves. Torrejas, served in a hot pan, consists of bread that has been soaked in hot syrup. Ours came with maple caramel apples and cinnamon ice cream.

I ate this so slowly because I didn't want the dish to ever end. The torrejas melts in your mouth with a lingering taste of syrup, apple and cinnamon. I would go back to Duck & Waffle just for the torrejas.

We had the perfect - and I actually do mean perfect - brunch session at Duck & Waffle. So much so that we've even discussed never, ever returning just in case the next experience wouldn't be able to match this one.

But we both know that we won't be able to resist - the draw of the flawless food, impeccable service and the incomparable views is already tempting us to make our next booking at Duck & Waffle!

Took my sister to Duck and Waffle as a birthday present, and I think it was a bit overrated. The food was good (we had the signature Duck and Waffle, and the pigs ears which were delicious!) but the real draw to this place is the view. Its spectacular. I would definitely revisit for drinks in the bar but won't hurry back for food unless to treat someone visiting.

This place was a surprise in all ways. Situation: 6th anniversary with your boyfriend and nothing organized. Solution: Ask him to organize everything. 8PM: He shows up with a bunch of flowers saying: "We are going to the top!", What top??? :-)

FOOD: Amazing. So the menu is quite strange, in some ways destructured, so you would probably end up like us asking the waiter: "What do you usually suggest?". I think the main idea is mix of small a big plates to share, and that's what we ended up doing.
First of all we tried the bread (try at least one!), the idea is an hot bread with on top different things, we tried the anduja and cheese one and it was very tasty.
Second we shared two small plates, the meatballs (not impressive) and the scotch egg that is gonna enter my top dishes ever cause it's very very very good.
The we shared the classic duck and waffle that is a very intersting mix of flavours.

PLACE: Well, you are on the 40th floor and I said everything. The view is astonishing. What I would suggest is to go in two and ask to be on the front window, cause if you are more than two they have tables not next to the window, or at least not next to the front one.

PRICE: When you get that food and that views you shouldn't probably complain but in any case to be honest is a bit expensive overall. Though I think it deserves it. So portions are good, you can actually share in two as we did with no problem. Two small plates, on big, a bottle of wine and a dessert makes 50 per person (obviously it depend which wine you get). So I think in general is fair in the average of London.

Overall I think I need another occasion to go back sometime!

It seems that London is a city that doesn’t sleep, but instead flocks to Duck & Waffle in its masses at 4am in the morning.

I should have known from the struggle it was to find a table for a group of people at the dead of night that this wasn’t going to be a quite meal. Instead when the glass elevator had whooshed us up to Heron Tower's 40th floor, we walked into a bar and restaurant which was pumping high volume electro tunes into a space which was absolutely packed with people.

Yet they were not ordinary people who had just finished a night out and were in search for something slightly more appetising then a donor kebab in their after-party, post-drunk, pre-hung over states like us. Instead every table was full of freshly pampered groups or couples who looked like their night had just began.

We were seated next to a table of bow-tied men and white gown wearing women who seemed to have just walked out of the salon whilst I hadn’t even bother to top up my make-up. However as the rest of my group were suitably trashed this didn’t bother us at all and we commenced our meal in high spirits.

Would I Want Seconds?

Of course the views here are stunning and it was with the lights of London twinkling below us that we were given the Late Night Menu to order from. This contained a good mix of sharing plates, breakfast dishes, sweet dishes and an immensely tempting list of cocktails.

My table ordered a variety of dishes including the house speciality of Duck & Waffle, a crispy leg confit, served with fried duck egg and mustard maple syrup, as well as ox cheek grilled cheese with onion jam, fried organic hen’s egg and Sriracha. Due to my overriding sweet tooth I ordered the toffee apple Belgium waffle which came with cinnamon ice cream and honeycombe.

One telling factor about the quality of a meal is the noise level generated from the table and ours was completely silent as we demolished every morsel of food in our plates. The finesse of the flavours in our food was so good that we were even able to appreciate the high quality of produce in each dish in our post-party stupor.

Some critics have waved away Duck & Waffle as a gimmick of a restaurant; however this is an underestimation of the effort the chefs here put into producing stunning dishes both visually and in terms of flavour all day every day.

Could I Afford Seconds?

Of course the prices here are as high as the setting, which is probably why the diners looked so glamorous. The egg based breakfast plates are around approximately £12, as are the main course dishes. That’s except for the signature Duck & Waffle dish which is priced at £17, whilst and the sweet dessert waffles are approximately £10.

There are restaurants in London which serve food at a much higher price than this who are based much closer to the ground. As a result the combination of the stunning views and the fantastic food actually make Duck & Waffle very good value for money.

Overall?

Duck & Waffle would call itself the UK's first high-end restaurants to stay open 24 hours and judging by the fact that every table was occupied there certainly is a market for this. I’ve also had brunch here at a more civilised hour and it seems to be a much more relaxed setting at that time of day.

The experience of dining at Duck &Waffle at 4am added an amazing end to a lovely evening. If only it wasn’t for the blaring music pumping out at us we may have had the energy to make a bit more conversation around the table.

Duck and waffle is a 24 hour restaurant near Aldgate area and in the Heron tower.

It really is a great restaurant, the interior is beautiful and so is the food.  I went in a group of people for a late dinner and we ordered a bunch of things for the table and I ate the Duck and waffle as a main course. It was incredible, the dutch was soft the egg was runny and the waffle perfection.
The staff are nice and explain every plate that if brought to the table and are able to cater to the dietary needs of the patrons. The menu is quite extensive but changes depending on the time of the day.

Overall a good restaurant with great views but really isn't the best restaurant in london

If you want to celebrate a rare and special occasion or surprise your partner, Duck & Waffle is the place you are looking for. The first time I went there is where I received my grade for my first term and I also found a better place to live. A proper celebration was needed. My boyfriend, then, romantically brought me here and ordered to drink - which are a bit pricey, but the view is breathless. Nothing compared to it. Heron Tower makes you feel magical and able to dream, which is a perfect incentive at my age.

Haven't had the chance to try their food, yet. As anytime we tried to book, there is no room. But we will for sure at some point. Furthermore, despite my expectations, prices for the restaurant are not that high.

I’d been wanting to go to Duck and Waffle for AGES! But annoyingly it’s always fully booked on weekends when people usually want to go out to eat, unless you make a booking a month or two in advance. If you happen to stumble in around midnight, which weirdly enough, is when I went here with my friends then you may get a table without a booking. It was a joyous occasion as one of our friends was turning one year younger ;) that night.

I saw foie gras crème brûlée on the menu and I was like shot gun! I’m getting this! Perfect crunchy top of a creme brûlée that cracks open with the lighted touch of a spoon and fat juicy pieces of lobster on top- what more can you ask for??

We dunked the toasted brioche in the slightly sweet and creamy deliciousness while we all placed an order of Duck and Waffle. I think we were all too hungry or selfish to share at that point! :P Plus I didn’t want to share my duck and waffle with anyone else. So ordering anything different from the menu was out of question. I’ll save that for my next trip!

Finally the moment I’d been waiting for (and trust me I’d waited a while!!) came and I dug into the dish. The duck was cooked to perfection. Crispy skin but when cut through gave way to mouthwatering juicy meat. Add a waffle and a fried duck egg along with mustard maple syrup and you’re in heaven. I salute their chef who thought of this dish. Visually, it’s a very simple dish. But taste wise, it will take you on a roller coaster of flavours you’ve never experienced before. 10/10 from me!

Hats off to their Executive Chef Daniel Doherty and their whole team who have done an excellent job with the menu.

Did you also know Duck & Waffle is open 24/7?! So what are you waiting for- book your table today! Beware of crazy early or late times though but if you’re adventurous then add this to the whole experience you will have!

Hmmm.

Took two months for us to finally get into Duck & Waffle. While the view is indeed spectacular (especially if you manage to be seated facing East) and the food is tasty, I think it is perhaps a bit overhyped.

My boyfriend and I shared a snack, several small plates, and one large plate. The crispy pig ears, served in a little paper bag with a monogramed wax seal, were delicious! I was a bit afraid to get a whole pig's ear placed in front of me, but instead they were served as delicious, crispy strips. Mmm. The small plates were nice, but I found them all a bit too rich, except for the mozzarella dish, which was a bit lighter. The carpaccio was too heavy on the truffle for my taste. I do love truffle, but I found it a tad overwhelming, knocking out the other flavours almost entirely.  The bacon-wrapped figs were delicious-- and with the creamy dipping sauce.. wow! Again, very very rich.

Sadly, I found the Duck & Waffle, their signature dish, a bit lacking. I think I was expecting more of a wow factor. The mustard-maple syrup was definitely less unique than I imagined. The waffle was a bit dense... I imagined something airier.

I would say the star of the restaurant is the amazing cocktail menu! My boyfriend tried the truffle cocktail, something like an amaretto sour with an amazing froth and a perfectly subtle hint of truffle. My cosmopolitan, made with bone marrow, was the best I've ever had! Both were stunning-- perfect pastel jewels glowing against the warm ambiance of the restaurant.

The service was very good-- my boyfriend accidentally dropped our first bag of pig ears, and they came by almost immediately to clean up and offer us a new order free of charge.

Final Verdict: The food is good, but overhyped. I will definitely be back, though, for the 5 star cocktails and view (which itself looks like a blanket of a million stars twinkling across London!)

The absolute perfect place for brunch, the Duck and Waffle couples scenic views with great food and service. The setting is ideal for a romantic or celebratory meal, and the whole experience exudes class.

The menu is well varied and although I had the famous duck and waffle, each dish I saw pass through left me salivating uncontrollably. The décor is smart and contemporary, but remains understated, as to not take away from the beautiful city views.

Whilst it is expensive, you are paying for an experience and not just a meal, and its popularity is testament to this.

Tip: To be on the safe side, you'll need to book well in advance.

This restaurant seems to be very very popular in London. You need to make a reservation days in advance for a table (and we went on a Tuesday for lunch!). There is always a queue outside the building (which also houses Sushi Samba). D&W is on the 40th floor and a table by the window gives you access to some great views of the city of London. Perfect for a special date. We ordered one bacon and caramel cocktail and another was with morello cherries..both were very good. For the appetizers (small plates) we ordered the Foie gras crème bruleè, Cornish pollock meatballs in lobster sauce, filet of Angus beef carpaccio. Barring the meatballs, the other 2 were just brilliant. The meatballs had a slightly wierd sort of taste and texture which was a shame coz the lobster sauce was delicious. We wanted to save space for the much raved about desserts and so ordered only 1 main - the D&W specialty - the duck & waffle itself. Again I was a tad disappointed as this was no main really but more a breakfast or brunch sort of a dish (as you can imagine when you see the pic). Anyways, the duck was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. It would make a really good breakfast dish what with the waffles and all. For the dessert (which is always my most awaited course of a meal), we ordered the pistachio and dark chocolate macaron sandwich. One word - Superb! Its plenty on a plate so perfect for 2 to share. D&W has most of its menu more suited for sharing which makes it perfect while you're on a date or even at a meal with friends. The staff are polite and seem to be ever so patient while you take your time to order, or have numerous questions to ask about a particular dish. Overall a good experience. The ambience just adds to it ten fold.

I can't bring myself to give anywhere a five out of five as I feel absolute perfection is a myth. However, if it was possible for me to give Duck and Waffle a 4.9, I most certainly would because I love it.

I've saved up to come here a handful of times which means I've had the chance to sample quite a bit of the innovative menu.  I've already tried the BBQ-spiced crispy pig ears, the coal-charred aubergine and the Duck and Waffle, but I could honestly taste everything on the menu and know I would come away satisfied. It's a fun sharing experience which eliminates the possibility of food envy. Thank heavens!

As you'd expect from a restaurant of this calibre, the service is always great. If you do decide to splash out here, you'll have to book in advance as tables often get booked up up to six weeks beforehand!

If you need a little more convincing to spend £10 on a Spicy Ox Cheek Doughnut, then I have six words for you: Pistachio and Dark Chocolate Macaroon Sandwich. 'Nuff said.

On those rare and special occasions when you either want to treat yourself or a loved one, finding a place to eat which merits both the ambience, prestige and feel good factor as well as great food can be like choosing fine art often overpriced and interpreted individually.

To put those worries to bed, I have the perfect place for you.....Duck and Waffle!!

Even before entering the building to reach the restaurant on the 40th floor of the Heron tower by Liverpool street station, you are greeted by a security guard that welcomes you in a cordial fashion while making sure you have not made the mistake of not booking a table ( for some this would seem more adequately placed outside of a club, however as I did make reservations I somewhat found myself with a extra spring in my step, like a V.I.P.)

After rapidly rising to the 40th floor in a lift that has the reminiscent feeling of lift of on a plane with your ears popping, as you ascend you catch a glimpse of what you'll see in full glory once you reach you're final destination, a sighting of the great city of London itself in all it's glory from tower bridge to the mayors office.

Before you reach the restaurant you walk into the fashionable bar, here's where I give you a word of caution, which a past version of myself would of thanked me for! Don't but a cocktail there!! As much as it tastes great it's not worth the £14 billing.

You are then greeted by pleasant and attentive staff who take care of your every need even preempting that extra glass of water, those small touches is what makes us come back and endears us to these restaurants.

Now I have to say the menu in part is bizarre with pig cheeks and the like but ' don't knock It till you tired it', however the menu does boast the classics as well. Please try one of the signature dishes, you guessed it duck and waffle.

Try the whole chicken made to share the taste is both succulent and might even be better then mums Sunday roast but you didn't hear me say that.

With the spectacular views of London, combined with top class service and adventurous selection of dishes to try select from Duck and Waffle is that perfect restaurant to make a impression whether it's your significant other, family or that snooty friend from out of town.

Although the cost adds up the experience and the food are worth every penny....

I came here to treat my mum and aunt for lunch one day. As I walked into the dining room which is through a bar I couldn’t help but notice the large number of tables that were filled with men and women in their business suits.

We ordered the roasted shropshire chicken and my aunt ordered the classic duck and waffle. The portion was big enough and we didn’t manage to finish it. I would order the chicken again as it well cooked and the potatoes and mushrooms complimented well

After lunch, we stayed seated and ordered tea and desserts a little while later. The tea came fairly quick however the desserts look another 10-15 minutes to arrive, so we had to order another round of teas. The desserts were amazing and portions are quite big. We were there for roughly two hours and our table was by the window, so by the time we left we had the chance of seeing the view when the sun was setting. It was phenomenal, I would recommend going for dinner or even early in the evening as the view is much better when it is dark outside and all the lights are on in the in streets and building.

Service did lack slightly, but that may have been because out waiter was trying to serve as many customers as he possibly could whilst there were a few other waiters just walking around.

Eating here is very expensive and I wouldn’t do it everyday, but it’s the perfect place for a special dinner or birthday meal.

You hear so many things about this place, but I think it’s a little overrated. The food is ‘neat’, but the view really makes up for the rest of it, making the visit more into an experience.

I came to the restaurant at around 3 in the morning, escaping a boring house party. I was happy to see that you can have a proper dinner somewhere in London, and not only have to look for the nearest McDonald. Even at that time we had to wait for table, which was quite surprising. Everybody, of course, took the Duck and Waffle. It is a very interesting combination, and surprisingly very tasty (who knew duck goes so well with maple syrup). The rest of the dishes seem are quite typical so definitely go for their specialty.

Best. Restaurant. Ever! Before taking my boyfriend here for his birthday I read all the reviews and it seemed too good to be true. However this place really lived up to its stellar reputation. I must admit, the lift terrified me and I did spend the first half an hour feeling rather dizzy getting used to the heights, but after that I enjoyed soaking in the fantastic views and atmosphere. The service was fantastic, and the food changed the way we think about food. With it being our first time visiting, we felt we had to go for the signature dish 'the Duck and waffle' and it didn't disappoint. I was initially concerned it wouldnt fill me up but I left feeling suitably full. We want to find who thought of this combo and give them a big hug. It is nothing short of culinary genius, how do the flavours go so well together?! The cocktails were also superb, we recommend the 'piggy bourbon'. Next time we will go for something else on the menu, I have every confidence it will be just as delicious. We had a really special evening here and I think everyone should go!

Duck and Waffle is located in the 40th floor of the Heron tower on Liverpool Street. The venue offer a typical British Cuisine. It is one of the highest restaurants with amazing view to the skyscrapers around the Heron Tower and the amazing London Town.
I would recommend to try from their Brunch Menu and most precisly their Eggs- Colombian Eggs with Avocado and smoked salmon and their amazing waffles- Toffee apple is one of my favourites containing cinnamon ice cream and honeycomb!

Duck and Waffle is located on the 40th floor of Heron Tower , which is one of the tallest buildings in London. Duck and Waffle has an amazing view overlooking the entire city of London. The best part about this place is that it is open 24 x 7 and they have 4 different sets of menu for different timings of the day.
I have had their brunch and midnight menu. The brunch is pretty good and I recommend you try the duck and waffle and toffee apple waffle.
From their midnight menu I would totally recommend the colombian eggs. Not a fancy dish but I loved having simple eggs with avocado and chorizo at 3 am overlooking the city of lights. It is a great place to go with your friends after clubbing  or for a sunday brunch xx

The best thing about Duck and Waffle is it's late night openings, oh, and the incredible view ofcourse. My foodie friend and I tried getting a table there a few times during regular hours but were unsuccessful.

Walking past Heron Tower once at 3am, we decided to try giving it a shot. It worked! The restaurant was completely empty, and we got a window table. We onto ordered their signature Duck and Waffle, which was the strangest combination I'd ever had, but strangely enough, it worked! A mix of sweet and savoury and breakfast and lunch all on your plate at once.

The view is pretty self explanatory, just know that when I visited the top of the shard after going to duck and waffle I was quite let down by "the tallest building in London" because the view from Duck and Waffle was just as incredible.

Some people set sensible resolutions: 'I'll work out', 'I'm doing dry January', 'I'll eat well'. I didn't set myself any of those unless you count my interpretation of eating well to be eating at great places rather than turning to the rabbit food. It's been a mixed bag so far but this week really kicked things off - first with a great meal at Tozi and then with what was firmly one of the best meals I've ever eaten at Duck and Waffle.

Our late night reservation had been weeks in the making so by the time Saturday night rolled around, I was raring to hit the lift up to the 40th floor and survey my stomping ground below. For the uninitiated among you, Duck & Waffle sits pretty on the 40th floor of the Heron Tower and is open 24/7 so whether you're in need of a morning pick me up, a late night lounge or simply in the mood for a cocktail, this place ticks all the boxes. Just perhaps avoid if you're afraid of heights.

Luckily for us, S and I are huge fans of high places and we decided to raise a toast to our fantastic little corner table which gave us views across the city in two directions (seriously, try and nab one if you can, I promise you it's worth it). And of course, we had to break bread. Fresh out of the oven and deliciously hot nduja and gruyere bread, naturally, before choosing what else to feast upon.

Like a lot of places at the moment, Duck and Waffle is all about the small plates. Big enough to share, not enough to overwhelm and just the right amount to make you fall in love, they came thick and fast from the open kitchen and had us speechless in appreciation.

We kicked off with the achingly smooth Angus beef carpaccio which comes garnished with small spots of truffle, foie gras and pecorino - combinations of woody, earthy flavours that compliment the mild meat brilliantly. This is a dish I could happily eat for the rest of my life. Next up, the roasted octopus - succulent octopus combined with the meaty, almost tomatoey flavours of melting chorizo were melded together with lemon and caper for a bit of bite and mixed with potatoes. I gleefully scooped this up with first fork and then bread while S barely got a look in, because it was such a perfect plate.

Then came the Scotch bhaji - a new twist on the classic Scotch egg that's seeing a surge of popularity at the moment. Cumberland sausage meat encased a beautifully runny yolk, and crispy deep fried onion wrapped the whole thing together. It arrived on the plate like some twining vine with crunchy tendrils to break off and dip into the caramelised onion yoghurt. Fourth was the hugely decadent foie gras creme brulee with lobster - if ever there was a time to forget the diet, this must be it. The pot of molten pate, topped with the classic sugary crust which satisfyingly split with a crack or two of the teaspoon, demanded simultaneous dipping of the moreish lobster tails and the brioche toast immediately.

Our final dish - and perhaps the one we didn't really need to order because the first four plates were exceptionally filling - was the jerusalem artichoke ravioli. From the 'For the table' part of the menu, this is meant as a sharer and sits alongside the eponymous duck and waffle which (whisper it) we didn't really fancy ordering. Instead, this gorgeous pasta dish came served in a heavy skillet and was topped with charred cauliflower, smoked butter and malt crumble - a sexy comfort food if ever there was and tasty enough to satisfy my meat-loving companion.

I would have loved to have tried one of the desserts - especially the pistachio and dark chocolate macaroon sandwich with drunken cherries - but I was so full from gorging on the fantastic mains that I think it's a brilliant excuse for another visit. Rich (the cocktail maestro) sent us over two delicious cocktails to try: the Duck & Stormy (rum and ginger in a brown bag) and a Removed Aviation (gin, violet and citrus juices) so we graciously sipped on those instead before bowing out at a civilised 1am.

Having looked forward to eating at Duck and Waffle ever since it opened, it definitely didn't disappoint. Dining at height late at night lent itself perfectly to romance and fun in equal measures; the ever-changing atmosphere reflected the ever-changing clientele, and we were bouncing around to Al Green and Mark Morrison from start to finish. The service, as you'd expect, was brilliant - unobtrusive but friendly, polite and there when you needed them and still going after hours on end. My only gripe? That I can't call that little corner table my own and eat there whenever I'd like... Maybe that can be next year's resolution.

The highlight of the place is it's view , its simply fantastic . The food however isn't all that great , the variety is nice though . The service was alright , but felt like they were in a bit of a hurry , not a very pleasant feeling . They need to improve on their food and service .

If you are looking for a nice romantic date with your partner then I would recommend you to visit this one. You could reserve a table for two beside the window and allow the bartender to suggest cocktails that match your taste. The ambiance is very warm and cosy. You should savour their signature dish and it is going to be a treat for your taste buds.

The staff at the door here is friendly and welcoming, but it is not the same case with the bar staff which is extremely hostile. Our lunch had quite a few spectacular dishes and some average dishes. The let-down was the Duck and Waffle, which was not at all appetizing. I have mixed opinions regarding this place. Overall, the experience could have been better.

I recently tried this place and had a decent experience. The breakfast was just fine but the drinks were pretty good. The service was pretty decent and the ambience was also quite good but nothing exceptional. Even though this place is not that expensive, the portions were quite small which was a little disappointing. I would like to visit this place again to experiment with more dishes.

A very fantastic place which is unique in its own way. The staff is very slow and lazy though. The ambiance is very pleasing and comfortable, one feels at ease there. I strongly recommend this place to each and every person visiting London, or staying in London for that matter. We started with the cocktail bar and ordered a truffle cocktail, which was brilliantly prepared with Whisky in it and tasted truly mouth-watering. Most of the dishes that we ordered were nicely seasoned and tasted delicious. We also called for a Duck & waffle, which was truly the best dish I've ever tried in my life.

Probably some of the best brunch I've had in London. The venue is s absolutely gorgeous and the service is excellent.
The menu is huge, everything looks good and so far everything I've tried tastes good. Therefore making any single recommendation is a bit difficult. Therefore, why not start with the signature duck and waffle. I initially thought this was an odd combination but now I don't really care; it's delightful.
The price is somewhat steep but it's worth it.

Just a random observation that food distributors with ampersands in their name always bode well with me (M&S, Champagne & Fromage, Burger & Lobster) - could just be because food is always better when its pluralised. Anyway , Duck & Waffle was bound to cook up a storm, and it did not disappoint.

To start, we ordered a round of cocktails (yes for brunch, judge not lest ye be judged), specifically a mimosa and a marmite champagne cocktails. The latter of these was just delicious - I even took my mum up two weeks later, simply to try one of these cocktails. We then proceeded to share a round of duck and waffle (for the restaurant's namesake) and then the nutella and banana waffles. Boy, oh boy were these dishes just heavenly - made even more apt by eating amidst the clouds. Being the moany b***h I am, I never give 5 stars, and obviously I have not been sponsored by D&W, so really, do yourself a favour and treat yourself to the best ampersand experience of your life.

If there’s one restaurant you don’t need me to review AGAIN is Duck & Waffle. After all, I have already written about it three times: my first visit for breakfast on my birthday, Sunday brunch with my parents and a special visit to taste their dosant last summer. But I cannot refrain myself from sharing photos of the lunch I had this week when I was invited to celebrate Duck & Waffle’s 2nd anniversary.

Congratulations to Duck & Waffle for two successful years in the business and for consistently offering fantastic food, drinks and service.

I had lunch there on Wednesday with my Twitter friends Tim @Clerkenwell_Boy, Chris @AllThingsMeaty and Nuvola @afoodfairy. We shared quite a few different dishes as you will see: old favourites and new menu additions.

We started with bbq-spiced crispy pig ears (served in a paper bag) and oysters, sea trout gribiche and scotch bhadji.

The Anglo-indian dish (scotch egg meets onion bhadji) served with cauliflower, lime pickle and caramelised onion yogurt was delicious and representative of what Duck & Waffle offers: classic dishes revisited with original flavour combinations.

Duck & Waffle makes bread so well that they have a section of the menu dedicated to it. We loved the spicy ‘nduja and gruyère bread.

We continued the lunch with the delicious bacon wrapped dates (as Chris said, you could just keep eating these all day), the baked beetroot with goat’s curd, roasted octopus with chorizo and foie gras crème brûlée.

Are you still with me? Our lunch was not over yet, actually my favourite dishes were still yet to come.

The star of the lunch was obviously the restaurant’s signature dish duck and waffle: duck leg and duck egg on a waffle with maple syrup. It’s spectacular!

If that wasn’t enough to impress us, the puddings really stole the show: pistachio & dark chocolate macaroon sandwich; vanilla baked alaska with mulled pears (I had never eaten baked alaska it before but Nuvola said this was the best she ever had); torrejas with maple caramel apples and cinnamon ice cream. If you have never tasted this dessert, I urge you to go to Duck & Waffle asap and order one.

The restaurant was also celebrating the release of the book “Duck & Waffle: Recipes and stories” by Head Chef Daniel Doherty. It’s a beautiful cookbook with stunning photos and recipes of Duck & Waffle’s famous dishes (and many more)! Signed copies are available to buy from the restaurant.

I have said this before: if you live in London and haven’t been to Duck & Waffle yet, book a table now and just go. The ride up to the 40th floor is worth the trip alone, but you will get much more than that. You will thank me for it!

I recently visited Duck & Waffle with a few friends for a late night dessert, as it is open 24/7. The elevator up is very cool; The view of London gets better and better as you go up to the 40th floor of the Heron Tower.

The desserts were nothing to rave about; I had the dark chocolate sundae and specifically asked for it without peanuts, however it still came with them. I had to send it back and wait for a fresh one to be made; the staff didn't handle it in the most polite way but at least the dessert came in reasonable time.

I liked the view and the decor, but I was hoping for something I could tell a story about.

I wasn't very daring with my dessert choice - maybe next time!

If you're looking for somewhere special to take your friends or loved ones, I seriously recommend checking out Duck and Waffle. From making the initial reservation to leaving the restaurant at the end of the night, the experience was fantastic. To take full advantage of their view, try and book for sunset as the lift, which is on the west side of Heron Tower, rapidly shoots you up to the 40th floor as you look out over London in the direction of Saint Paul's, it's pretty spectacular.

Waiters were polite, knowledgable and friendly.  Despite a busy restaurant, we never felt rushed. It was the perfect dining experience in this regard. Dishes are small, but extremely rich. Expect a big bill, but one that's arguably worth every penny. Between two people, five smaller dishes should be more than enough. Drinks, especially cocktails are pricey too, but again very good if you like it strong.

The over experience to be had at Duck and Waffle is one to remember, as it's open 24 hours and almost all-year round, I'd like to go back for breakfast and lunch on separate occasions at some point too. It isn't cheap, but I'd say worth it for special occasions. Failing that, head up to grab a drink in the bar and enjoy the view. Whatever you do, don't miss out on this incredible venue - a new-age London treasure.

24 hour restaurant/bar from the top floor of the 3rd tallest building in London. It is very rare you see a building this tall empty but for the top two floors. Two floors dedicated to two restaurants, Sushi Samba and Duck and Waffle. Bill Murray's mantra is that the key to a happy existence is being available for life to happen to you, Duck and Waffle is certainly available, it never closes.

The lift is gut jerkingly quick, shooting you up through 40 floors, a cross between Willy Wonka's great glass elevator and Futurama's transportation tube. As you enter there is the luxurious bar, behind this, the restaurant. The cocktails here are fantastic and their whisky sour with truffle foam is dangerously enjoyable.

The restaurant is named after their signature dish, crispy confit duck leg with a fried duck egg on a waffle bed dripping in mustard maple syrup. It's every bit as glorious as it sounds. The meat of the duck is full of flavour and so moist, beautifully balanced with the crispy skin, it's a special dish with just enough mustard to stop this sliding into the too sweet territory.

I also ordered the oxcheek doughnut, the bacon wrapped dates and the crispy pigs ears. All of which were equally amazing, the dates have kept all the moisture thanks to its coat of bacon and the bacon is crisp, oven roasted in maple syrup. Oxcheek doughnut again treads the sweet/savoury line masterfully. I first came across crispy pig's ears in Fergus Henderson's restaurant St John, these are definitely in that same league.

The pinnacle of modern London dining, I have been here at 2am and seen reservations for groups of 14. With London's underground moving to a 24 hour service perhaps we will see more of these 24 hour gourmet food production houses. I'm just glad it is here now.

The nicest place in London for a date. The view is GREAT and the environment awesome. The place is located on the Heron Tower!

Their cocktail bar is a bit pricey, but the list of drinks is very well made and various. I had a Roasted Cosmo which is made with orange liqueur, vodka and lime. It was very unique, tasty and a bit sour. I enjoyed my time there because the place design and space are definitely amazing. You should expect to spend 30 £ for two cocktails. If you are interested in a breathtaking view, a lively atmosphere and extravagant meals then "Duck & Waffle" is the perfect place to come to. Just like for all of the guests, it all started with me and my friends entering the lift that took us to the 40th floor, after which we were accompanied by a waiter that took us to our table. We were all mesmerised by the gorgeous view from the very top of the Heron Tower and it seemed like so was the rest of the crowd. We ordered their signature dish: 'duck & waffle', but I was not very sure of whether I would like it, however it turned out to be the most appetizing combination. In addition to that I also ordered 'duck egg en cocotte", because their meal portions are rather small so I wasn't feeling full, and that savoury dish turned out to be absolutely scrumptious, which I am recommending to everyone. By the end of the dinner I realised that I would love to go there many more times in order to try out various other dishes whilst enjoying the picturesque view.

We arrived At 11pm on a Saturday and waited for an hour for a table as no reservation. Food was ordered from late night menu and arrived swiftly. I ordered duck and waffle dish which comprised of an amazing duck leg with crispy skin on and perfectly cooked, served with a very good waffle and maple syrup and a duck egg. My boyfriend ordered the octopus dish and was also very happy with however the portion was rather small so he topped it up by ordering a Parmesan bread and oh my day, it was so soft nice warm and fragrant! Highly recommended! View was great, the restaurant was buzzing at midnight which surprised us but all in all a very good experience. (Minus the wait for the bill and the expensive wine list)

I had forgotten that it was our wedding anniversary (my bad) but my husband hadn't: he booked a table for two for Sunday brunch at Duck & Waffle (triple brownie points).

After watching London unfold before us in the glass lift like a pop-up book, we were seated at a corner table with an unbelievable view of the city beneath us. We'd also been lucky with the weather; the sun's warm rays directly upon our table meant that I quickly regretted my long-sleeved ensemble and wore my sunnies (looking like a total jackass) for the rest of our meal.

As for the food, well, we went the whole hog and ordered the toasted PB&J brioche (that's peanut butter and jelly for non-Americans unfamiliar with our penchant for sweet and salty), ox cheek donut, and of course, the duck and waffle. Firstly, the signature dish: I'm not sure if it was the mustard maple syrup, or the perfectly runny egg yolk that filled each delicious groove in the waffle, but this piece de resistance was truly a taste sensation. I've no shame in admitting this. The PB&J was equally delicious, but venturing on ordinary - when you're dining out at a place as spectacular as this, you'd expect a bit of a twist. The ox cheek donut was damn good - its warm, smoky filling was reminiscent of a Chinese "char siu" bun.

I was surprised by the rather reasonable prices on the Duck & Waffle menu: there are plenty of brunch options under a tenner, which means that it's more affordable than people might think. That, coupled with the fact that it's open 24 hours a day means that the next time I'm jet-lagged from a trans-atlantic flight, I'll be tempted to head up to the tower for some midnight sweet and savoury treats.

I'd have given this a solid 5 if it hadn't been for the slightly patchy service (a smile now and then *really* doesn't hurt!) and how
agonizingly long we had to wait for the bill, but for the sheer surroundings and the delicious grub, it was well worth it.

So the BF and I decided to potter in London this bank hol weekend. Our plans mainly consisted of catching up with friends and eating.

The bar itself is light, airy, with a hipster coolness that's so quirky! I absolutely loved the graffiti wall and think it added the edge.

When we walked into the restaurant I wondered where we were going to be sat and all I can say is we had pretty good seats. I spy with my little eye the GHERKIN!

For the views alone I was amazed. From our amazing seats the BF and I pieced london together, spotting canary wharf, the Tower of London, the O2 and the gherkin. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was suitably fabulous. Unpretentious glamour is how I would describe it.

Now the food! I really wanted to try the duck and waffle but didn't so I have an excuse to go again. The BF and I opted to have to share a ox cheek doughnut to start.  In all honesty it wasn't what I was expecting. Actually scratch that I had no expectations, as I had never imagined the flavours of an ox cheek doughnut to begin with. Well it was interestingly good, I loved the outer edge of the slightly sweet doughnut against the spiced paprika flavoured ox cheek!
The BF and I occasionally love to share so we opted to share the rib eye to follow with marmite hollandaise!

Now this was really delightful! The beef was excellent and as for the marmite hollandaise I don't know how that combination came about, but it was fabulous and I don't even like marmite. The marmite gave the hollandaise a wonderful kick!

I can't believe it took so long to try Duck and Waffle but now I have I can say it was worth the wait!

Duck & Waffle is one of those establishments that everyone seems to have heard of.

Boasting the best views in London and its claim to fame as the highest restaurant in the UK, I was a bit hesitant to visit at first, having heard of lots of mixed reviews about the food/service. I am happy to report that I was pleasantly surprised by my experience there, and would recommend a visit particularly if you have limited time in the city like I do. After all, if you're going to pay 30 pounds per person for a visit up the Shard, why not just visit a somewhere with equally good views PLUS the chance to enjoy some tasty gourmet food? :)

I arrived at Duck & Waffle at around 5pm on a weekday evening, which I felt was the perfect time as it meant that over the course of the dinner we could watch as the London landscape shifted from a murky grey to a deep blue.

First up came an unassuming paper bag marked with a red wax seal- but the real treasure was what was inside- the BBQ spiced crispy pork ears- a salivating concoction of crisp, flavourful strips of pork.

Next up was the house bread, which was a pillowy loaf served with a light, slightly acrid olive oil , as well as creamy butter. The bread was mostly hollow inside with an outer crunch and fragrant taste which was very satisfying and complimented the oil and butter very well.

Next up came my favourite dish of the night- Foie Gras Crème Brulee with lobster, served with two slices of toast. This was an absolutely decadent treat - the creamy and fragrant texture of the foie gras mousse, the slightly burnt caramelised top and the plump, succulent pieces of lobster blended together to create a symphony of flavours.. It's hard to put into words- you'll just have to give it a go yourself! Paired with the crunchy toast, this was definitely a treat to be shared as it was quite heavy after a few bites.

Afterwards arrived the Roasted octopus with chorizo, potato, lemon and capers. Whilst I enjoyed each particular element on its own, I felt that the salty richness of the chorizo did detract from the sweetness and light taste of the octopus.

I think that a trip to this establishment would not be complete without ordering its namesake. The Duck & Waffle consisted of a waffle and crispy duck confit, served with a fried duck egg. I love anything with egg yolk and fried poultry so I definitely enjoyed this dish! The rich yolk fared well with the maple syrup, and the duck meat fell right off the bone.

Dessert was an assortment of cheeses served with oat biscuits, grapes, almonds and chutney- definitely a satisfying way to end the night!

Overall, I had a great time at Duck & Waffle. Whilst not all of the food was amazingly good, the service was attentive, the dishes creative and the view is definitely a highlight of the experience !

Review: After reserving a table and waiting for weeks to celebrate a special occasion with the family. We finally made it to Duck and Waffle. Although a foggy view, it made it all the more magical to be eating in the clouds.
If the food was not good, it would have still been an amazing experience, but the food was good. For savoury the duck eggs and for mains the waffles. The duck eggs, with soldiers, were not only tasty, but beautiful to look and were a grown up version of soldiers and eggs. The waffles were indulgent fluffy waffles that hit the sweet spot.

Squeezed into the lift,
Time for Duck and Waffle;
A little wedding gift.
Two wonderful friends are tying the knot
And in celebration we chose this spot.

Led over to our table,
Glancing round with glee,
We sat by the window
To see the whole city.
Our glasses clinked when champagne had been poured
Menus checked out and all diets ignored.

What else would my choice be
For Saturday brunch,
But the duck, egg and waffle
Upon which to munch.
Waiting to try this for many a moon
The time had arrived to pick up my spoon.

Drizzled with syrup,
All crunchy and gold,
My emotions for this one
Could not be controlled.
Whoever came up with this creation
Shall receive from me some adoration.

Our dishes polished off,
And hunger satisfied,
We turned to each other
Each one starry eyed.
We heaved ourselves up, not wanting to go
But now we had a hen party to throw!

Literary genius aside, we had a fabulous meal. The duck and waffle has made it to my top dishes of all time list and I now have the annoyance of waking up every weekend craving it. While the restaurant is open 24/7, booking is advisable and tables get reserved weeks in advance, I'm already formulating an excuse to return!

The hype over this 40th floor destination restaurant is all completely justified, the chefs and staff are superb while the presentation of both the food and venue itself are carefully thought out .. my theory is the yellow ceiling panels draw their inspiration from duck bills .. anyone with me?

I can't believe it's taken me so long to jump on the D & W bandwagon but now I'm totally hooked. Who wants to join me next time?

Duck and waffle is a special place. I went with a bunch of friends not long after moving to London. On the 50th or so floor, it offers stunning panamoric sweeps of a sprawling London. It's a classy set-up, with a bar in the first room and tables plus an open kitchen in the second. We ordered the eponymous main course as well as crispy pork ears as a side. The food was delicious: a perfectly cooked fried egg delicately balanced on a confit leg of duck, all of which is laid on a fluffy waffle. The food, although on the expensive side, seems quite reasonable for its environment. What are expensive however are the drinks. Around 15 to 17 quid if I remember for a cocktail.. they were very potent though so you do a bang for your buck. All in all a great place for special occassions. It definitely gets my stamp of approval

Duck & Waffle is one of the best dining experiences I've had in London to date. What helped was also probably the radiant 9AM summer sunshine and my blue halter maxi dress which always makes me feel rather sassy.

Gasping at the shrinking buildings as I ascended to the 40th floor of the Heron tower in the glass elevator, I knew this was going to be something special. The restaurant offered a three-edged view of London (and beyond) in all its dazzling glory – the various accompanying skyscrapers, Canary Wharf in a cluster, the snaking, sparkling river Thames, Spitalfields Market, our old flat near Whitechapel... gosh, might that be East Essex?

Friendly waiting staff took our order and constantly asked how we were doing. The title dish was £15 and consisted of a perfect runny-yolk duck's egg (you can put in a request for how you like your eggs done) and a crispy, meaty duck leg confit served atop a thick waffle, with mustard maple syrup on the side. It was divine, and I had no qualms about it being breakfast! Some of the other options on the menu were a full english, eggs, haddock, and waffles with sweet toppings.

Both the food and the atmosphere were a treat, and I definitely plan to return at some point after sunset (can you imagine the city lights then!) to try some of the other items on the menu.

I have found your new favourite breakfast spot.

If you thought Duck & Waffle looked like the perfect spot for a romantic dinner overlooking the city, you’ll be pleased to know I’ve found a new use for this towering venue. The potential downfall for my new discovery is that you’re going to have to set your alarm clock. This isn’t for a lazy Sunday brunch and you’ll soon see why.

After getting dressed and ready at some ungodly hour and stepping out into the cold, early darkness that is usually only endured to catch a red eye from Heathrow, we made our way into London well before the busy Monday morning commute.

What on earth is worth an early Monday morning? you ask.
Two things: Duck and Waffle.

Not convinced to be up before the sun just for a bit of breakfast?
How about having an entire 40th floor to yourself whilst you watch the city wake up and the sun rise all over a delicious breakfast. I promise it was well worth it.

We sat facing the East and watched as the sun rose above the clouds and lit up a beautiful Londontown. Lines of cars that looked like ants made their way into the city whilst tired commuters crept across the pavement. Lights in skyscrapers were slowly switched on and smoke billowed from chimneys in the distance. There’s something so peaceful about watching a city groan to life, preparing for another busy week, whilst high in the clouds, away from a cramped commute of grumpy Londoners.

For breakfast we obviously shared the star of the show, Duck & Waffle, which you can read more about here. We also shared Colombian Eggs, which were fluffy, scrambled eggs mixed with salsa and spread over a generous serving of fresh avocado on toast. This was a delicious, spicy take on the standard breakfast dish which I could happily indulge in more often. For breakfast dessert… greedy, I know… we shared a Belgian Waffle with berries and massive dollop of fresh vanilla cream.

Whilst we dined, several people trickled in for early morning business meetings over Bloody Mary’s and waffles, an idea I must store away for future reference. The view was stunning, meal was excellent, and I couldn’t think of a more spectacular way to start off another work week.

I managed to get a decent table at a reasonable time but I had to book almost a MONTH in advance. The bar at duck & waffle is really nice and cocktails are better than the ones in sushi samba (I find they are way too strong). The restaurant in itself is nothing special and the acoustic is just terrible, I almost had to shout when talking as the restaurant as a whole was so loud!
The food is really nice but the menu is small and there really aren't many options for vegetarians. Also I found it really weird that they don't serve any side vegetables at all, apart from some cauliflower with capers which tasted really weird and was a complete waste of money. The signature dish of duck & waffle is pretty small and quite sweet, I didn't think was anything special and quite pricey. However, my pollock balls in lobster sauce were absolutely delicious and completely worth the price and the visit to the restaurant.
I found both desserts we ordered to be delicious whereas my boyfriend said that it was all too sweet for him. I'm not surprised as he already had enough sweetness in his main. Finally, BBQ PIG EARS are a must try! I loved them, they're sweet, salty and barbequey....just a bit freaky as some still have some hair of the pig on top of them!
Overall, worth going and worth the long wait but I don't know if I'll come back for dinner anytime soon!

Forty floors up the Heron Tower at Bishopgate in London, The Duck and Waffle offers a breathtaking view with its floor to ceiling wraparound windows. It is known for its location, opening hours 24/7, and rather eccentric signature dish - the Duck n' Waffle. Their menu caters to breakfast, lunch, brunch, dinner, late night or in between, and includes innovative food and a selection of fantastic cocktail and decent wine.

Notoriously difficult to get a reservation during peak times, I found myself here at the vaguest hour after a night out (I must say.. a very posh change from the usual late night Kebab outlets we would normally end up at..) My friends and I managed to land, what they claimed was, the best table in the house. The view, like I said, was spectacular. Their late night menu included limited options, and my vegetarian friend chose to order the duck egg en cocotte. In my opinion it was even better than their signature Duck n' Waffle. (And yes, a savoury duck confit served with the runny duck egg, sweet waffles and mustard maple syrup works, somehow, it does...) The dish of the day for me, however, was the former - Wild mushrooms, and truffles in gruyerè cheese, served with a thin slice of 'soldier' bread - fantastic textures and flavour, fresh ingredients, straight out of the pan (and served in one) - loved it. Their innovative outlook is also reflected in their cocktail list. The ones we tried were decent (some better than others.) What l I found particularly interesting was their taken on the Manhattan - I fail to understand how, but they make bourbon and salted caramel liqueur work...

The dining experience at the Duck and Waffle includes an amalgamation of contrasting textures and flavours that formulate unique dishes. Though a little pricey, the ambience and food quality make this experience worth it - I definitely see myself return for more, and would highly recommend this place too.

£100 for two including cocktails/wine

Being on top of the city with an unobstructed view clearly adds another dimension to a dining experience. What would you do to go one step further? Keep it open 24/7 for guests to enjoy sunrise and sunset which is what Duck & Waffle has done. It’s truly non-discriminating with the more than generous opening hours, be it for early birds, power lunchers, romantic diners, late nightlifers, Sushi Samba haters or the occasional tourist who got lost in the city. Success is the word to describe it considering how far ahead I needed to book a table for 6 people early in the morning.

I usually only wake up this early when I have a morning flight to catch but this morning was an exception. On my way there it felt like the end of a very late night out, the sun was not out yet and the streets were quiet. The first excitement of the morning was the elevator ride up to the 40th floor of Heron Tower, which was quick and breathtaking. An advice for people with fear of heights though is to close your eyes to avoid spoiling the meal.

The breakfast menu was very straightforward with basics such as English breakfast on the savoury side and pastries on the sweet side. The pace of service at 6.30 am was slow and relaxed. There were only 2 tables occupied and waiters were probably waiting for their night shift to end.

Three things one the plate made my morning: crispy duck confit, fried duck egg and waffle with mustard maple syrup. It felt more like dinner than breakfast but good it was. Cutting through the crispy skin of the duck leg into the fragrant and soft cooked meat is something I expect to do with a good duck confit. Imagine how glorious this could be instead of kebab or hamburger on the street if you against all odds resist going to bed after a long night of boozing!

Every city deserves a place like this. A place to enjoy down to earth food on a not so down to earth altitude. In recent years other restaurants have started to occupy the higher floors in buildings as well like Sushi Samba in Heron Tower (just below Duck & Waffle) and Hutong/Oblix/Aqua in the Shard.

And the food? I only tried one dish, Duck ‘n’ Waffle. It’s good and if not good enough for you then the view will more than make up for it.

What an amazing place. The staff are friendly and our waiter who I've had twice out of 3 trips here was amazing. He really went above and beyond to make a it a lovely night, just wish I got his name. I wasn't too keen on any of the starters so that simplifies the night to the one thing you go there for Duck and Waffle. Yummy yummy in my tummy lol. If you love new flavours ad a great view this place is perfect!

Perhaps the air is a little thinner 40 floors above London. Perhaps it’s the threat of vertigo when peering over the precipice. It could even be the vitalising qualities of a room flooded with natural light from the wrap around floor-to-ceiling windows. Whatever the reasons, dining at Duck & Waffle made me feel a bit giddy, in a good way.

There are a couple of uncommon attributes occasionally found within the London dining scene that come together here: it is the highest restaurant in the UK (with the spectacular views to go with that accolade) and it welcomes and serves people at any hour of every day. Combine these two crowd-pleasers with very agreeable things coming from the kitchen and striking interiors, and you’ve got something that feels quite special.

Whilst there are a handful of menus on the website reminding us of the times at which most eat during a day, the vast array of offerings these imply is mostly an illusion - bar a couple of exceptions and the compulsory presence of eggs at breakfast and brunch, they are almost identical.

Dishes at 11am on a Sunday contain a few expected dependables - English breakfasts, pastrami on sourdough, fried eggs and mushrooms. For the adventurous, a good proportion are more reflective of the kitchen's creativity with an ‘I want to return for that’ intrigue almost certainly securing a subsequent visit - spicy ox cheek doughnuts with apricot jam, foie gras crème brûlée with butter roasted Scottish lobster, raw yellowfin tuna with chilli watermelon.

Firmly at home in the latter are the BBQ spiced crispy pigs ears - Jay Rayner describes them as tasting like Frazzles and he is spot on. Thin strips, most deep fried to a crunch (some with a less preferable chew) and covered in sweet paprika, I think. Brown paper bagged with the faux-wax duck-on-a-waffle seal spotted around the venue and spots of grease permeating the paper, they were very good.

The dish of smoked mozzarella bears an adjective I was unable to identify, but it was soft and milky and worked wonders with the bite and bitterness from seeds and nuts, all sliced through with some Amalfi citrus.

The namesake dish (unavoidable on a maiden visit) is, I suspect, a novel combination on these shores. But on a recent trip to New York I discovered sweet waffles with savoury meat is typical of southern soul food as seen at Amy Ruth’s in Harlem (where I had the type of fried chicken for which defibrillators were specifically made).

A suitably spruced up version of that, the Duck & Waffle offering is duck egg, crispy confit leg, waffle, and a glorious mustard maple syrup to bring it together. Described as ‘for the table’, it’s not the easiest to share. And it should come with a whole waffle, not half (it’s only batter after all). Still, the meat was great and I would hope so for £17. Ensue the obligatory bone gnawing following any cooked meat still attached to the bone.

That waffle-half was a tease, the desire for more manifesting in dessert. Belgian waffles with caramelised banana (the surface of which cracked like a crème brûlée); fabulous homemade Nutella dark and viscous and heavy with hazelnut; ice cream; and some crunchy peanut stuff - it was a corker. But again, half a waffle. The torment.

Tables were not all occupied during our visit despite being highly sought after for weekend brunches - I suspect reservations allow two hours but some take less time for their first meal of the day. The atmosphere was light and relaxed with a lot of lively chat. It’s worth noting not all tables are next to the windows and so for many, the unrivalled views over the expanse of the city are obstructed. Had this been the case for my visit I would have been disappointed, as I’m sure others must get. But we were next to glass and the experience was elevated for it.

If the food at Duck & Waffle was served without a view of the horizon, I suspect it would be a little tougher competing with the unending list of both existing and new quality eateries in town, many at more wallet-friendly prices. But with the unique selling points it does have, the dining experience as a whole has successfully differentiated itself from the rest of the market and I think it deserves all the applause for it.

I really liked the place and I’ll return. The romance of an intoxicated just-before-dawn visit to watch the sun rise over our great city with an oyster in hand is what I intend to aim for. Magical, I have little doubt.

Liked lots: design, location, the views, open kitchen, 24/7, creative dishes, those crispy pigs ears..
Liked less: a little pricey but you are of course paying for the privilege of eating from such great heights; not all tables have unobstructed views; waffle dishes should come with a whole waffle and not half
Good for: taking London visitors, impressing, a meal with a view, romantic dates, eating at any time of the day

My rating: 3.5

Duck and waffle isn’t exactly a predictable name for a stylish London city skyscraper restaurant, but then it’s not exactly a predictable venue. For one, it features elements of a rustic shabby-chic interior, the likes of which you would normally expect to find in a country pub or boutique hotel, not on top of a monolithic skyscraper in Bishopsgate. The menu also features some quirky twists, with plenty of variety at commendable standards and at prices that don’t so much break the bank as leave a minor dent in it.

The menu is varied and features a wide range of entrées – referred to as snacks and breads of which we chose bbq spiced crispy pig ears, served in a cutesy wax-sealed brown paper bag, and bacon wrapped dates with linguiça sausage and dandelion salad. This was a grand start to the meal and really got the tastebuds going, prepping the way nicely for rabbit rillette, which whilst slightly lacking in flavour, had a pleasing texture complimented by crisp, chewy sourdough toast and a beer chutney. Yellowfin tuna served with watermelon, balsamic and basil was succulent and melted in the mouth. There is a good selection of wines by the glass of which I chose El Muró Macabeo from Cariñena. Lively, good acidity and easy drinking. At £8.50 for a 175ml glass of Chilean Sagrada Familia Viognier I’d have to concur with Jay Rayner on the priciness of plonk, however it’s a good list.

There is no reason to not praise this wonderful place repeatedly on Zomato, in conversations and in your head. It is most definitely not hyped without reason even though it might not be a place you visit every so often. If you’ve had your teeth pulled out and overcame your fear of dentists, you might as well find a local ice cream store to celebrate your accomplishment rather than bring your sadistic friends to this “joint”.

Duck and Waffle is beautiful, with a view that could kill (quite literally, because it’s that high) and an ambience which is chic/hipster and always celebratory; save this for those special occasions. Firstly, this is more of a Brunch place, who wouldn’t enjoy the 40th floor view on a hung-over Sunday afternoon? Find a nook when you get there and keep the sharing plates coming. I said that for a reason, because you cannot possibly be satisfied with just one order; the portion sizes are too small for comfort. I would say however that if you are hungry, don’t choose anything else off their menu other than their signature Duck and Waffles. “Delicious”, “odd”, “why”, “who-cares”; might be some of the phrases you think of while you bite into their pretty presentation (easy on the Maple Syrup though). I remember I ordered for the Roasted Octopus sharing plate and I had never been sadder. Of course, if you’re watching your portion sizes you might love this place for keeping you in check.

Also, if you are a smoker don’t miss the gorgeous open-air smoking section on the Sushi Samba floor!
In a nutshell: Gorgeous, Value for money with the right order and a must-visit if you have Paparazzi typed in Bold on your CV.

Duck & Waffle is perfectly and sadly typecast as a Hipster-Restaurant – and right from the first minute the place smacks of being too cool for school, from the island-like, inside-out, poorly guarded dispense bar that is an advert for drunken theft attempts and that done-to-death ‘reclaimed-rickety-wood-poverty-chic’ look that graces only the most select places in the East where comfy seating might make you forget to part with your cash. Underfoot, you are walking on tiles which my mate described as “like the floor of a public toilet”.

In such an establishment, the food needs to conquer all: it almost succeeds. Head Chef Daniel Doherty’s vision for the ‘Duck is for a place where “the unparalleled views are a mere afterthought to the cuisine”. With a concept steeped in gimmickism, this was always going to be a big ask, but the 27-year-old Doherty has created a modern European menu which is whimsical and appealing to his fellow Gen X-ers and Y-ers in a precisely-executed, immature kind of way.

One cold March afternoon, we took Brunch (Duck & Waffle is open twenty-four hours, offering breakfast, brunch, all-day and late night menus) and started with a stodgy but flavourful flatbread, swollen with goats cheese and cherry tomatoes. A paper bag full of crispy pigs ears stole the show, spiced with BBQ powder to the point that we could only think of one thing – Frazzles. These were best eaten with the eyes closed – they are very ear-y in appearance and we encountered more than one pig’s hair on the way to an empty bag.

Duck & Waffle’s namesake dish was a trip back to university – its concept smacked of raiding the Tesco ‘reduced to clear’ shelf before whipping up culinary chaos in a shared kitchen to a group of drunken first years’. Surprisingly the concept of sweet-on-sweet, juicy duck leg confit with Belgian waffle worked a little too well. The dish is served with a perfectly-fried duck egg and ‘mustard maple syrup’, which tasted like regular maple syrup with the added inconvenience of picking mustard seeds out of your teeth for the rest of the day.

Desserts are basic but invoke only the fondest memories of childhood, such as (yet more) waffles, served with Nutella and brȗléed banana, as well as the best – and only, I dare say – deep fried Mars Bar in London, freshened up with a dose of smooth malted ice cream. The chef thoughtfully presents you with the wrapper, just to remind you that you’ve just spent seven quid on a chocolate bar.

Drinks are much more grown up. Duck & Waffle’s own take on the G&T (just add yuzu) “smelled like petrol” but had a sweet and ginny taste to die for, whereas their Cosmopolitan is given an adult tinge of roasted bone marrow for a wonderful smokey flavour. Less successful was the Belo Martinez, akin to paint stripper with a unhealthy dose of Navy Gin and ‘Antica Formula’ (bloody hipsters – please just call it sweet vermouth) and belo bitters. Not even the presentation (in a cocktail shaker with a truffle on the side) could stop my friend from leaving it almost untouched.

Despite there bering a lot of things for the two of us to catch up on, a large part of lunch was spent staring out of the window. Even if Duck & Waffle were to stop serving childish food and strong liquor, people would still pay for the sweeping views of Shoreditch and beyond to the north, Canary Wharf to the East and pretty much the rest of the city to the West. Service was patchy, yo-yo-ing between turbo-fussy and vanishing off the face of the earth, but I spotted waiters gazing out of the windows on at least four occasions, so I guess they have a pretty good excuse.

Duck & Waffle is centre-stage to a quirky set of restaurants bringing sexy back to London eating. Unfortunately, it over-zealously buys into this concept, making itself slightly more pretentious than the skinny-jeaned waistoids hanging outside Rough Trade on Brick Lane. However, style-over-substance is averted at the eleventh hour with a seriously well-cooked, creative and nostalgic menu which is surprisingly good value – at least until you start on the cocktails and wine (there’s always money to be made in alky-hole). The food is – and always will be – second to the unbeatable views – not just for a restaurant, but anywhere in the city.

Fashion is fickle, and I doubt the ‘Duck will be cool for ever. Fashion is also instantaneous, described by Andrew Bolton, a curator of the New York Met as an “immediate expression of one’s values and state of mind”. Sat at the top of the Heron as snow blustered up the side of the glass, my values were resonating “good food is good food, wherever and whenever” and my state of mind was sitting somewhere between “I can see my house from here” and “I want to come back at 3am, blind drunk after an evening at Underground Rebel Bingo and eat a spicy ox-cheek doughnut” And how many restaurants around town can provoke those kinds of thoughts?

Duck and Waffle was on my wish-list for a very long time so when i finally made it, I was beyond excited. Since its on the 40th floor, you're treated to a glass elevator ride which is quite thrilling, thanks to both the view and speed. These little things definitely add to the whole experience. You cannot help being impressed once you step in. We were seated as per our reservation. The view was simply exceptional.

We started with the Freshly Baked Breads -- ordered caramelised onions with anchovies and capers. I was pleasantly surprised. The flavours were so balanced. The sweetness from the caramelised onions, the slight saltiness from the anchovy bits..YUM!

I had never tasted scallops before so i decided to select that from the Raw section and im so glad i did. At first I was apprehensive about eating it raw, but when it was served i was quite fascinated by the presentation. They placed finely sliced scallops on an crunchy piece of apple on a pale pink himalayan salt block. They were evenly topped with truffle bits and lemon rind. The attention to detail was amazing. I would suggest that you dont leave it on the block for too long, it gets salty quite fast. The earthiness of the truffle, the sweetness from the apple along with the crunch merged with the acidity of the citrus..and ofcourse the subtle and smooth tasting scallop. All i can say is that the flavours came together beautifully. It was delicate and delicious.

We just had to try the signature dish. So when you order the duck and waffle you essentially get a fried confit duck leg, waffle, a pot of mustard maple syrup along with a fried egg on top. To be honest it felt like i was eating breakfast at 12am. But it was weirdly nice mix of textures and flavours.

We thoroughly enjoyed the magnificent view and energetic atmosphere, a little too noisy but overall a wonderful evening!

Good place for decent food and a nice view but it is certainly not a 24 hour restaurant if there is even any stopping of services in any point of time. The foie gras can be rather disappointing as I have had better ones from French restaurants around London but otherwise, the signature duck and waffle is a good comfort food just like how you would have pancakes with bacon and maple syrup. Do try the BBQ crispy pigs ears as it's a good nibble with some alcohol.

Hurrying along to make my 8:40pm booking, the glittering Heron Tower stood before my eyes. The bright neon signs for "sushi samba" and colourful lights beaming from the tower lit up the whole street.

The menu is inspired by British and European influences, with head chef Dan Doherty behind the kitchen. Dan is lovely he would tweet and say hello to diners. Unfortunately that night he was in the other kitchen with a private party.

As I knew I wanted to save my stomach for desserts, my kept my starter light with 2 carlingford rock oysters. It certainly was delicious, fresh, and juicy plumped; it was like tasting the sea.

The thinly sliced scallops served on top of perfect shaped rectangles of apple chunks, came served on a pink Himalayan salt. The combination of the salt, apple and raw fish was enjoyable. The apple was sharp and citrusy, that stood out after finishing the raw scallop layer.

We all ordered the signature dish; it took a long while for the wait around 40 mins after we finished our starters. The plate consisted of a fried confit duck leg, waffle, a pot of mustard maple syrup and a fried egg to top it off. I was quite frightened with the maple syrup, my friend brought me some from Canada and 1 drop was enough to give me a sugar rush overdose. I tasted a drop and was rest assured, it was a diluted and happily smothered my duck and waffle with the whole pot. The duck was properly one of the best I have ever tried perfectly fried with a lot of moist, and not overly salty. The mixture of the sweet, salty and different textures worked well.

hi,

This is an exceptional place for unique panoramic views overlooking London from the 40th floor of the Heron Tower ... only the Rhodes 24, the Swiss Re tower (but it is private ...) and probably Chard (I still have to discover ...) can compete with this place. First stop at the bar while ultramodern glass to soak up the atmosphere. Then go to the restaurant, to always enjoy breathtaking views while leaving you surprised by a food ... inventive to reasonable limits. But try to experience the "fun", without expecting the real big kitchen. Try dishes with improbable associations as lez red cabbage gratin with goat cheese and honey, scallops Jacques parsnip and grapes, octopus with chorizo and lemon or, of course, the iconic duck confit served on his waffle and with his fried egg, and forgive me I hope all my friends Toulouse ... Everything here is a matter of mind, if you expect haute cuisine to the French you will be disappointed, but if a culinary experience to the limits of conceptual art tempts you, go for it without hesitation!

What a Great Place ! !
The view from the top of the Heron Tower is wonderful and the prices are fair enough according with the place.
The food is good but not excellent, I'll prefer to recommend you to get there in the evening to have a delicious cocktail from their great Cocktail bar.

For those who like to go to bed really late, you need to know that the Duck & Waffle is open 24/7 ! From there, the Sunrise in London is literally wonderful !

Amazing place !!!! To go for excellent cocktails or super good English breakfast for only £12... with an incredible view of London ! Little bit scary because of the 40 floors but it's worth it definitely !
The service is beyond reproach, decoration modern, funny and beautiful. You can reserve a private room to do a birthday dinner or corporate dinner and have more privacy.
To do absolutely when you're in London !

I went to Duck and waffle for a breakfast with my team few weeks ago. The place is very close the Liverpool station and it is on the 41st floor. The views are amazing on a nice sunny day. Even the bar area is very well decorated. I ordered English breakfast and the food was good. Definitely a one time go for the views and the ambiance.

A fantastic experience - would recommend for anyone.

Oh so often we pay to go up tall buildings just for a nice view... Well now there is a way to kill several birds with one almighty stone - the duck and waffle. It is situated on the 40th floor of the heron tower and has panoramic views of the city.

It is accessed through one main glass fronted elevator which goes straight up to the 39th floor in seconds - as you look out your view and perspective of the city changes in an instance. If you are on a budget but love a view you could probably sweet talk your way in and up just to come back down!

Once up there is an open kitchen and you can see the chefs at work and from what I saw - a very well ran kitchen. We went for brunch and ordered 'steak 'n' eggs benedict' and 'duck & waffle' check out their menu for full details but rest assured it was superb!

You can probably find a cheaper eat in London but as an overall experience I think this is fantastic value and would definitely recommend - enjoy!

I went to duck and waffle only once, but I'm looking forward to go back there.

The restaurant is located on top of a skyscraper, and offers a great view of the entire city. Plus: it is open 24/7, and this allows for extravagant meals veeeeery late at night (or veeeery early in the morning!)
This was the case for me, as I went there with a group of friend after a night in a club, at around 6 am.

We ordered the dish that names the whole restaurant: Duck and Waffle.
The choice was driven by curiosity more than other kind of expectations.. But I was greatly satisfied with the result: a freshly made, warm waffle with a duck leg and a duck egg fried, with maple syrup.
Not a light meal, I have to say, especially for a late night snack.. But delicious.

The price is lower than what you could expect from such a beautiful restaurant. This and the fantastic view make it a place where you are willing to go more than once, and not just an attraction to visit once (as most of the restaurants on these lines).

I will let you know about my next experience there: whether it confirms all my enthusiasm or it resizes it!

The restaurant has the best view of London Bridge and the Thames. We went there for dinner and sat near the window. It was stunning when the buildings, bridges and rivers were covered with golden color during the sunset. The atmosphere was excellent as well. And the food, all the dishes were great. The signature duck is crispy and delicious! The otpus and tartar were also very tasty. And the lamp ribs, salad and this we're good too. The food and the view it certainly deserves to have a meal there!

We came to this restaurant completely randomly and were completely overwhelmed by this awesome atmosphere. Our waitress Luana was awesome and took really good care for us. The food was really delicious. Holiday.... We definitely did it right. If you visit London this is a hot tip to go. Price was absolutely fine for the quality and even if it was quite busy we didn't have to wait for long. And the view... Definitely worth overcoming my fear of elevators.... 100 % recommended. Great food and service with stunning views to the city from the 40th floor. Obviously their signature dish, duck and waffle is a must try. Small platters are delicious and mouthwatering too. I had the lobster roll, grilled octopus and corn ribs this time and wasn't disappointed. Service is good the staff is very attentive and helpful.

It was a great experiences to have dinner at this restaurant especially “Non-dairy Waffle” with duck !!! I ordered for two waffles but still prefer NON-DAIRY ! It’s a little bit crispy and good smell. I also fallen in love with CORN RIBS, HOUSE BREAD AND OCTOPUS WITH POTATO ! Super delicious for my dinner ! 🫰🏻❤️

A delicious food experience, not only the flavors of the food but also the presentation, aroma, and overall dining atmosphere. The food was a work of art. The presentation is impeccable, with vibrant colors and artistic arrangements that make it almost too beautiful to eat. A burst of flavors explodes in your mouth. The combination of ingredients is perfectly balanced, with each bite offering a harmonious blend of textures and tastes. Highly recommended 👌. Keep it up 👍

Just one of the best places to eat in London. The food and view are amazing and still have a fair price even in the City. Plates are truly well served for what you are paying . We had the roast chicken which was AMAZING and easily serves 2-3 people if you order with one more plate. Cheese polenta bits were also delicious . Finally, the main star of the night was the waiter Speed Gonzalez, I think he was one of the best waiters which I had in any restaurant in the UK, he truly made our night to feel unique and special ! In addition, a well done to Sabrina the host which welcomed us downstairs in a such friendly way . I will be back with my wife for sure .

Dining at the tallest restaurant in London was a must do on our London list. It didn't disappoint with its amazing panoramic views. The glass lift up to the restaurant was an experience in itself! The food was absolutely delicious, I can't recommend the Duck Benedict enough along with the hashbrowns. We will definitely be returning when next in the city.

Ratings are tiptop and proportionate to its strategic location at the top of the tower. Portion wise it is small. We went with the waiter's recommendation and got the mains of beef, sea bass and the must-have duck waffles. Best was the duck waffles then the beef and so on. The wines were good as well with the signature waffle cocktail and savignon blanc. It's a plus that this place opens 24 hours but I would recommend coming during the day to get a good view of its vicinity. They give complementary mini chocolate cake for bday celebrations too.

A tourist here, got recommended this place by a local friend. Absolutely amazing place. View was great (this was one that I randomly took as I exited the elevator, saving the nicest one from my table for personal use. So the actual view from the restaurant will be 10 times better). Got the signature duck & waffle, tasted great. And a shoutout to my server of the evening Victoria, who was super friendly and helpful and even offered to take my photos <3 Book for a time earlier in the evening to maximize your chances to be seated at a table by the window.

Everyone comes here for the view but it’s not a panoramic experience and there are parts of the glass with the privacy seal so you don’t see much of a view in some areas of seating. However space was bright and airy which gave it a comfortable atmosphere. Food was much better than expected for a 24/7 place. Duck confit leg was cooked very well with flavourful fatty pieces. Waffle is thick and fluffy but would prefer a bit more flavour. Smoked duck breast waffle had 6 thinly sliced pieces so would prefer more meat. Would recommend the duck confit leg for those going for the first time.

Wow, Duck and Waffle totally knocked it out of the park! The moment you step out of that elevator and get a glimpse of the stunning London skyline, you know you're in for a treat. Their signature dish, the duck and waffle? A total game changer. Think crispy duck, fluffy waffle, and a perfectly fried egg on top, all drizzled with maple syrup. Top-notch service, attentive without being overbearing. And don’t get me started on their cocktail list - it’s legit! Oh, and a special shoutout to their lobster roll. The fresh lobster and tasty sauce were spot on. Not to mention those crispy pig ears – they were the bomb and the packaging was super cool too. If you're in London, you've gotta check this place out. Can’t wait for my next visit!

Speedy Gonzalez made our experience so incredible. He was so kind and attentive and we felt like we were celebrities. I have never had such exceptional service in my life. The whole experience was amazing, including the food and drinks which I would highly recommend to anyone. Speedy Gonzalez is the best ever and everyone needs to go to Duck and Waffle London.

With being one of the highest restaurants in London, it does have an absolutely spectacular view! Service here was great, but of course I'm gonna talk about the food. I personally do not think the food is worth the price, but it is good. I would say skip the carrots and Mac and cheese since they're just sides that are pricey for the simple items they are that could easily be made at home or bought from a cheaper restaurant. The egg was perfectly cooked and so yummy. I didn't eat the duck (which is the main character of course) but my family did and they said it was good. We had the special which was a bass in green curry which was delicious and spicy as well. I also really liked the fresh grapefruit juice, quenching my thirst very well. The staff was very nice, we asked to move our reservation half an hour up since we ran into traffic and they moved it no problem. We showed up a little bit early, but they sat us exactly at the reservation time. Our waiter was very patient as well.

Food and drinks were expensive but you’d kinda expect that from the location! The views were lovely and service was good. We went at brunch time on the weekend so it was super loud and busy. Overall I enjoyed it but not sure I would go back!
