I go here regularly, amazing value lunch deals and beautiful dinner menu - the spring rolls are to die for and the beef pho is among the best I've tasted. Also unlike a lot of the restaurants on 'Pho mile' the wine is lovely and the decor is classy. The staff are always really friendly and are happy to let you linger after your meal for as long as you like. Highly recommended

Nice staff, good basic menu. Cha gio were crunchy, seafood pho was tasty, with sufficient prawns, mussels and squid. Service OK, felt valued as a customer. Would go back.

The place is cozy, we had to change seats from a table of 4 to 2 but it is efficient service, they know what they are doing. The food was super, it's fast and delicious. The starters are delicious and big, the mains are huge and tasty.

Just had the most wonderful, fresh and different meal. I usually plump for the Pho but as the Bun Cha is the specialty here, I went for the Hanoi version. What an explosion of tastes and textures. Highly recommended!

Very fast service and good food. Everything looked and tasted fresh . The aroma of the food was amazing . The floor staff is efficient . I had chicken Satay and summer rolls with prawns that were both very good . For main course I tried some sauteed noodles with chicken (cant remember the name) that were also very good. Generous quantity of food.

There's been a lot of buzz in the foodie community about Vietnamese restaurant BunBunBun. In the heart of super-cool Hoxton and situated on the iconic Kingsland Road it's a mark of honour that BunBunBunhas made such a impact amongst hot competition in the area. After visiting for review last week it's easy to see why. The restaurant serves authentic, fresh and frankly mind blowingly good Vietnamese food.

BunBunBunboasts an Extensive and varied menu with lots of delights to the excite the senses. There is Plenty of pork and seafood dishes, plus classic bahn mi inspired salads, sumptuous pho and refreshing summer rolls. When you walk around the restaurant delicious smells tickle your tastebuds, while the exposed printed walls, wooden tables and mismatched chairs give the restaurant a hint of cool.

We were kindly served by a Team of two who appeared to be running the show. They were very polite and helpful, especially when We asked our waitress for her recommended dishes and she had plenty of advice. So upon her choices we dived in.

Where

BunBunBun, Hoxton

When

Saturday lunch, 2pm

What

Gois Cuon Tom (Prawn Summer Rolls), Thit Ba Chi Nuong (Honey Marinated Pork Belly), Muc Muoi Ot (Salt and Chilli Squid), Bun Cha Hanoi (Lemongrass Pork and Noodle Salad), Bun bo hue (Spicy Lemongrass Beef and Pork Noodle Soup)

Highlights:

The portion sizes are massive- and not just bulked out with the cheapest part of the dish. My pho came with tonnes of fresh herbs and vegetables on the side which allowed me to alter the flavour completely to my taste. As I went for the spicy broth I avoided added any chilli!

Alex's intriguing bahn mi salad was unlike anything I have seen before. The noodles were served cold with an overflowing plate of lettuce wraps, herbs and seasonings. Next to this was a steaming bowl of pork meat patties in a stunning hot dressing. The idea for this salad is to allow you to mix and match flavour combinations and have a different experience with each bite.

The salt and pepper squid starter was amazingly tasty with fresh lime juice and soft, crunchy tempura.

Lowlights:

The summer rolls are served with. Peanut sauce, which is fine but it would have been nice to have this stated on the menu.

A new Viet on the Kingsland Road strip specializing in Bun Cha.  Hip decor, evoking a stylized street food stall.  Rough plaster, stencilled graffiti, garlands of bare bulbs mixed with industrial lighting fixtures, oak tables with metal legs reminiscent of school desks and artfully mismatched chairs.

The three of us all ordered Bun Cha Hanoi.  That's cold rice vermicelli, salad, and herbs,  served with warm pork patties, grilled pork loin, and spring roll, dressed with nuoc cham (the dipping sauce of sweetened vinegar and fish sauce that's on most Vietnamese salads).

The herbs were all extremely fresh and robust with plenty of perilla leaf, mint, thai basil and coriander.  The vermicelli, spring roll and lettuce leaves (for wrapping the meat) were presented on a large plate, rather than the customary bowl.  The pork patties and pork loin were served separately floating in the bowl of nuoc cham.  Both of the meats were beautifully char grilled, and the spring roll was exceptionally crisp.  The nuoc cham came with little dishes of grated garlic and  chopped chillies, so you could customize the amount of each.  As a garnish, there were some lightly pickled carrots, turnip and cucumber.  Altogether a good sized portion.  The very hungry man at our table asked for an extra spring roll with his dish.

This was the best Bun Cha I have ever had.  Even my Vietnamese girlfriend, who has been to Hanoi a couple of times said it was the best Bun Cha in her memory too.  There was an order of monkfish bun cha served to the table behind us.  I could hear her dish sizzling on the table.  I must try that next time.

BunCha is a BYO but the corkage charge of £3 per person is rather hefty.  Corkage is charged for the whole table, regardless of whether everyone is having BYO wine.

I like Vietnamese cuisine because their food is very well cooked and very soft, very light. You know when you eat something warm and light that it doesn't make you bloated that it has great digestion that you feel fed and well nourished and not bloated or inflated looking like you ate a whole cow... The people from all over the world who live here (British) really respect this restaurant. Every time I pass by, the restaurant is full because they deserve it for the well-made, well-cooked, very soft food. An excellent place to try the pasta with that broth! a light flavor!

I had their pork belly set meal. The pork belly itself was flavourful and tender but it wasn’t hot. Almost luke warm which is a shame. The ‘vegetable soup’ just tasted like msg powder mixed in water with some vegetable leaves thrown in. The service was a bit unprofessional as there were quite a few young staff working there but they just kept chatting to each other and two of them were in a couple with each other and so each time they were back at the bar they would just be hugging and kissing each other which isn’t really what you want to see your waitress/waiter doing in between serving tables. Overall, I probably would come back and try some of their other dishes but hopefully the service is more professional and the food is hot.

Excellent authentic Vietnamese food. The vegetarian pho was top notch and was my summer roll. My rice noodles were the perfect texture and the broth was not lacking in flavor for a vegetable broth. My friends enjoyed their meals as well. Was very glad that we settled on coming to this restaurant despite the short wait. There are loads of other Vietnamese options on this stretch but it was definitely worth the wait. The staff was also exceptional.

Been there 3 times in short time. It's delicious, great natural tastes, no sugary and I love the setting of the place and the teas (both cold for lunch and warm at evening). Be sure you order clearly what you want, there may be small/big version of the plates, lunch menu was hudge for me. Will certainly eat there soon again!

The service was very friendly and quick. Loved the atmosphere of the restaurant, it's very quaint small. The salt & chilli squid was some of the best I've ever had. They were fresh, hot and crispy. The chargrilled pork belly was delicious and crispy. Love the food in general and I would definitely be returning. They don't seem to take reservations so I'd just turn up at the restaurant. If you're going in on a Friday, get there before 7 for a table.

No words can describe this humble restaurant. The food, amazing. The drinks, amazing. The service, amazing. Everything was perfect. We ordered beef and chicken pho, alongside their house lemon aid, fried squid, and spring rolls. All of the dishes were absolutely stunning, and left our tastebuds wanting more and more. The portions were amazing, filling us up all the way. I’m addition to this, the drinks and service were amazing, with the most helpful and kind staff we have ever seen. The best part about this whole experience is the price. For huge portions, 2 mains, 2 starters, and 2 drinks, we paid a grand total of around £50. Which is amazing for the quality you receive. Overall we would definitely recommend this restaurant and will definitely be returning soon.

Mindblowing food! Tried the bun type of dish once but loved it so much. All food taste fresh and tasty. The waitress (or maybe the owner?) is very friendly and knowledgeable. He explained the food to us comprehensively and gave good recommendations based on our taste. Would definitely come back to try another food

Great Bun Thit Cha Gio, pork is well charred, noodles slightly underdone. Sauce is delicious. Every bite was moreish and while it can get crowded on some days, service is reliable and you wont be disappointed. The flavors are authentic

This was such a great recommendation from a friend. Enjoyed my dinner there! Staff members are very friendly, efficient and engaging. The place is clean and fairly spacious and have a bit of a cosy feel towards it. Food was really good and a great menu with good variety of choices from starters to main. Definitely recommend this place and I'll go back for sure.

Bun cha here tastes almost exactly like the well-known ones I had in Hanoi!! So grateful to have found this place as I've been craving that. My friend's pho was also good, you could tell that they had actually made the bone broth from scratch. Will 100% be back in the very near future...
