I've been hearing about the Nordic Bakery for quite a while now, actually quite a while, but for some reason I just never managed to venture inside and sample the delights that it has to offer. I know I'm not a follower of fashion but this is taking the piss a bit. The Nordic Bakery is a great place to sit, relax, drink a cup of coffee, nibble on a sandwich or a cinnamon bun and read a few chapters of a book. I opted for a pickled herring and egg sandwich. An interesting combination that works perfectly, the tangyness of the herring with a sharp dressing and boy do I love boiled eggs in my sandwiches. A throwback to my old schoolboy days. The latte comes in what can only be described as a mug that would satisfy a giant. It was big. The coffee was just ok, which is a shame as the treats on offer, the vibe, the ambiance of the place is second to none. Get better coffee guys. If Fernandez and Wells can do it then so can you. Another great sandwich shop is Paul Rothe and Son, which has bee

Fantastic, affordable sandwich deli in the heart of London's financial district. There is little room for sitting, but when the food is this good, I don't mind. The hummus and sun dried tomato sandwich was to die for and even on a hot day, I opted for the soup of the day which was a cream of broccoli soup. Both tasted very well and satiated my appetite. I will definitely return to try the rest of their menu and eagerly anticipate what their soup of the day will be.

On a hump day (Wednesday) during our lunch break. My colleague came with this seafood sandwich. I asked him where did you get that sandwich? He told me about this place. I was so intrigued I was dying to find out more about delicatessen sandwiches, which is a rare occurrence in London. Got tired of Subway so I wanted to eat something unique. Anyways, fast forward to Friday - walked inside this cute little vintage sandwich shop currently running by Paul and his son Stephen Rothe (as they’re 3rd-4th generation of this 123 year old establishment) I ordered the popular vegetarian option - Sundried Tomatoes, Swiss Emmental Cheese and Hummus. Tasted great way too delicious I was really impressed. Just the sandwich itself it’s £4. Massive bargain! Downside - They will charge you £0.50 for toasting the bread! Hilarious I know but it’s okay. The drinks on top of that will be around £8 quid. Which is not that bad pricing wise. But there’s no meal deal option. Limited halal options. Only the chicken is halal.

Tiny little place huge on charm and genuine hospitality. Family run for decades. Service beyond kind with regulars and locals hanging out creating a sense of a community of a sort. Without exaggeration my favorite coffee in town and their sandwiches are great too with egg mayo and anchovies being my choice.

Beautifully preserved store established in 1900 & family run. The classic bacon sarnie was high quality with brown sauce of course! I was surprised at how good my latte coffee was. Takeout of pastrami sandwich kept me going at the office. Made my day, love this place.

Wow. What a sandwich joint! Egg sandwich with mayo and anchovies is maybe the best egg sandwich I’ve had in my life. The pastrami with Swiss and pickles is also amazing. This is a must try for anyone in London.
