We had the excellent idea of doing our beautiful wedding reception at the Lady Ottoline a few weeks ago. I have to say, many things were beautiful that day, and they were mostly possible because of this amazing team and great place. The Lady Ottoline is located in Clerkenwell, for which you already have a great setting for a London wedding. The team, led by two excellent managers who were on site during the entire process and day, was faboulous. We are so thankful to all of them for the level of commitment to get this day exactly as we imagined it. The food was excellent, I received many great reviews highlighting our menu, also done in house. They opened earlier for us on the day, to get all our suppliers in on time. And they also allowed our musician to give us her best songs during the evening. One of the best decisions we made for our wedding and we wish to come back as regular clients very soon. LOVED the Sunday lunch in here! Every single thing on the plate was cooked to perfection and all-together was a fantastic lunch! The service was kind and very attentive. Would definitely come again!
Pro tip: ask for more gravy as they have a pitcher of gravy on standby :)

Excellent food. We went on a Saturday for lunch and the place was empty. I had the gnocci wich were amazing and my boyfriend had the fish and chips with he loved. I must admit the chips were great.
However the cutlery seemed a bit too old and used.

lovely pub off the beaten track. I went for a Sunday roast. It was absolutely packed and I must say the roast was absolutely gorgeous and the potatoes were divine. absolutely great atmosphere felt very at home. Their homemade infused gin and vodka are a lovely touch, the raspberry and vanilla was particularly good. James was very lovely and I will definitely be going back again and I will tell all my friends about this gorgeous little hideaway.

Fantastic pub located away from the hustle and bustle of Greys Inn Road. My partner and I stumbled across this gem after dinner, and met some of the wonderful team down there including Katie who’s one of the warmest kindest people I’ve met a long time. Can’t wait to go back and try their food, which looks lovely Thanks again for a special evening in this special pub.

Perfect score for me. Delicious food; I highly recommend the burger. Really great beers on tap and cans. And super friendly service. Lovely bunch.

When I came to organise a student event on very short notice, Dave provided a wonderful recommendation and contact: The Perseverance where I successfully hosted a pizza lunch event for Hult’s MIB-4 Cohort. Thanks again for the wonderful service and reccomendation, will definitely be back at The Lady Ottoline for drinks 😃

Best Sunday Roast in London! Staff is always friendly and welcoming.

Food was absolutely delicious- I had the vegetarian roast and it was one of the best I’ve ever had. The service was impeccable- very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is really friendly and feels like a neighbourhood pub. I’ll definitely be going back.

A great place, super cute (upstairs for dinner). I wouldn't suggest it for beer downstairs since it is super noisy. We had the burger and the trout and they were both great, super tasty and big portions. The come brulle was very tasty as well. The italian lady was very welcoming with the service. A nice choice for an affordable dinner in a pub.

Incredible food, great (and friendly) service, and obviously very popular. I got the last seat for food (and was lucky to do so). Highly recommended! Some of the best fish and chips I’ve had anywhere in the world.

Lovely ambience in the dining rooms upstairs. Food was delicious and staff friendly and engaging. As a visitor to London, it was interesting to discover that post-Covid many work from home on Mondays/Fridays so in fact we could have done without a reservation for lunch that day. So glad I discovered the Lady Ottetline via Google Maps as it was unlikely I’d have stumbled across it otherwise.

James and Katie are amazing! The food is fantastic and we also completed our Beavertown passport. LE BOSH!

A homely, down-to-earth pub with a welcoming barman who finds joy in making people smile. The decor and shape of the pub is beautiful, giving off a bohemian style and artsy vibe. But what made my experience great was the friendliness of the staff, who exuded happiness and hospitality.

It's very convenient for me and my colleagues as this is located just around the corner from my work. So after work drinks it is always. 😂👍🍻

Excellent gastropub about ten minutes walk from Chancery Lane tube station on the Central line. Large and bright main bar area with two rooms upstairs for food. Bar downstairs hosted by a knowledgeable team who serve you with courtesy and charm as do the food service team - and the foods great too! Probably a different crowd during weekdays due to proximity to the Inns but a great weekend venue.

Gordon was fantastic in the dining room upstairs! So lovely and kind. Pax downstairs at the bar was a true sweetheart with great customer service. Thanks for the Prosecco, babes!! Lovely place!

Was strolling through the area on a break and happened upon this lovely little gem. Jess, the manager, was immediately welcoming and warm and helped me pick out a banging beer and some great food. Went for the chicken Kiev, it’s a must! I’ll definitely be back, great to be served by someone who really knows what they’re doing!

The Lady Ottoline Roast has always been our favourite, we tell everyone it is the best roast in London but after todays visit we won't be singing its praises. The usual melt in the mouth Pork was tough and fatty, the roast potato's and Parsnip anaemic and the vegetable portion was teeny tiny - what a shame - I could have done this at home. Bring back the yummy cauliflower cheese, red cabbage and leek crumble pot veggies, with lashing of crispy roast potatoes and parsnips. Apparently the chef has changed which explains it but still no excuse. Our search for the best roast will continue.

Belle soirée dans un pub typique.
Ambiance sympathique.

I just got my order of fish and chips with a short and curly hair cooked in with it, this is disgusting the waiter said it may be a beard hair the waitress claims the chef has curly hair. she seemed to think this was funny and was very patronising and argumentative and very rude the service is disgusting

Easily the Best pint of Peroni in the whole of Bloomsbury. Love this place.

A quite nice pub. Probably the best in a 1-mile radio.

The decoration is typical pub, but with some sophistication and with a rather nice ambience. The service is correct and pleasant. They have the usual beers and a good Negroni.

I recommend it to everyone.

Sunday Lunch. It means different things to different people. Growing up it meant lunch with my grandparents, a day we relaxed and caught up with family members. My mother was calm as she didn’t need to cook a special roast after her very busy week. Sunday lunch was a healing experience for all of us, as my grandparents always bought take away so my grandmother could also have a break from cooking.

We had Orange Duck with a Pate and Soya Mousse followed by a Mixed Meat Sunday dinner that was out of this world!

In central London, it’s never difficult to find either a good pub or a nice restaurant. However, it’s not always so easy to find a great gastro pub, which performs both functions at once. Normally, they are tucked away in London’s more leafy postcodes. Still, there are some that exist, and without a doubt, Holborn’s The Lady Ottoline is a prime example. Just off Gray’s Inn Road, The Lady Ottoline serves refined yet traditional British cuisine. While at first glance the menu may seem a bit basic, all of the dishes are well executed and are made with high quality produce. As a starter, the ham hock croquette and crispy pigs’ ears shouldn’t be feared as there’s nothing on the plate that your palate won’t like; quite the opposite. If available, the lobster, clams and mussels risotto is very pleasant too. Not too creamy, nor too fishy; there is a harmonious balance between all of the tastes. The classic smoked mackerel pâté is an excellent example of what it should be and it’s perfect to sh

The beef: moist and tender but with some unpleasant gristly bits and cooked without a trace of pinkness. Personal choice I know, but roast beef to me is at its most glorious when rare.

An invitation to review the Lady Ottoline in Bloomsbury coincided with a planned meeting with Tracey from Fighting Fifty who joined me for lunch, a catch-up and a bit of a gossip. And, she arrived first, so when I finally found the pub and dining room she was already installed upstairs waiting for me. The original Lady Ottoline appears to have been something of a character who had multiple affairs with the likes of Bertrand Russell and Dora Carrington. A member of the Bloomsbury Set, her friends included Virginia Woolf, WB Yeats and TS Elliot. The eponymous pub is perhaps a little more reserved in style with muted painted walls, framed sepia tinted photos and stripped wooden floorboards. It’s a cosy kind of place, somewhere to curl up with a book or enjoy a leisurely lunch with friends. I was really quite excited to see English wines on the menu. So, of course we started the meal with a glass of Nyetimber fizz. It’s a very reasonable £7.50 for a glass of Nyetimber Classic

Lady Ottoline Violet Anne Morrell was a society hostess amongst the Bloomsbury Group in Edwardian London, she was housed in the nearby Bedford Square, and was quite a character with a fruitful personal life so it only seems fitting her name is kept alive in this charming old Victorian gastropub. It was reopened in 2011 where it had been through quite a makeover from an old man boozer to now a very sophisticated drinking and dining establishment, where they have managed to maintain its pubiness with a good mixture of fine dining. The exposed brick work, simple wooden tables complemented with candles and the many black and white photos of the said Lady Ottoline create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, where it almost feels like you have step back in time to someone’s home. The new look has obviously attracted a whole new crowd with packed out tabl

I found The Lady Ottoline quite by accident... I happened to pass by it on the way to a friends place. ..This was around the time that they had just opened. ..The food was different then, delicious pub food. Now it seems, they have completely changed their menu and made it into more of a gastro-pub kind of concept...
I don't think that the dishes I mention are even on the menu anymore. ..
I had a delicious starter of cippolini onions and spinach in cream sauce stuffed in puff pastry, folled by jucy, tender sausages with mash. I had sticky toffee pudding for dessert which was superb.
The Lady Ottoline is a beautiful pub, tucked away in a quiet lane just off Grays Inn Road. ..It's a great place to have a meal or even just drinks with friends. ..

A nice and quite pub, located in one of the best neighbourhoods in London. I have been there a few times and the food was always great, I have to say, the best "pub food" I have tried. My personal favourite is the steak and the chunky hand cut chips. Don't forget to get a dessert! Staff was friendly and the waiter pick a wine for us that really suited our dinner. Last and funny enough, I like the character details downstairs, in the restroom :-)

We came here just before the new year for a Christmas lunch and were delighted with the quality of service and food served at this place. Having booked for a table of 8, we sat upstairs by the cobbled wall. The pub smelt of old times with a real fireplace and a festive atmosphere.

Despite the optional Xmas menu, we went for the classic lunch menu as the food was said to be outstanding. I ordered a lobster, shrimp and avocado starter, which was delicate and quite upmarket (even for a gastropub), and the Hereford 8oz sirloin steak with chips and broccoli for my main - I'm not exaggerating when I say that this was probably the tastiest steak I've had all year. It was cooked medium rare and just the right amount of tenderness, sweet and juicy in my mouth.

If you're looking for a tasty pub lunch in central London with a good atmosphere, this is definitely a place to check out.

Squeezed into the corner of Northington and john street, The lady otterman would seem like an ideal place for after work drinks and a bite to eat. however given its layout (oblong) it is awfully tight so once there get to be more than a handful of patrons it become rather uncomfortable. I suffered at the hand of a very rude waitress who literally shoved me as she tried to get past. Thankfully I wasn't holding a full pint otherwise it could have kicked off.

Food is glamorous classic pub nibbles, its not too bad but a little overpriced for what it is
