Lovely welcome. At last I found a biryani with a naan crust. Absolutely delicious food. I had no issue with paying the added service charge as we enjoyed it so much but I feel it should be a an option for the customer to decide.
Great food and service with fantastic cobra beer
Visited in May, found the food excellent, and the prices reasonable. Well recommended. Staff friendly.
Always Amazing food and service......One of Best Indian food restaurants ever.
Great food, great service with a smile and a great atmosphere. Cheers you really made us feel welcome .
Fantastic fish curry and great service. Will come back again.
Chicken Madras was SO good and the staff is amazing!
Chef special mouth waitering best food valuable......
Excellent service ! Definately be back.
We stopped in late one evening and were greeted so graciously and served as though we were the only customers. We met the owner and let the waiter pick our apps and entrees. Everything was delicious and the mango lassi rum drinks tasted sublime.
Enjoyed the Great food
finger licking taste
Loved the place
Reached all most at the closing time of restaurant.
But loved the way these people allowed us for dinner and served the best food in London., inspite of getting late to their homes.
Thanks for the nice attitude.
A friend suggested this place and I am so glad I followed up. It's always nice to get authentic Indian food in London and this place is the best in Soho. We ordered Peshawari Paneer (onion and tomato sauce), Chicken Do Pyaza (chicken in an onion sauce) and tarka dal (yellow lentils). The food was delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Food was nice, no problems and we enjoyed the atmosphere. However make sure that you check your bill. We were overcharged by £30 and were lucky to have checked it over.
This place is located very conveniently in soho so I decided to give it a try. 5 minute wait on friday night was not bad. However the food was very average. I would not visit again.
Excellent Find In The West End. No reservation on a Friday night. Walked into Gopal's and received a warm greeting and table for three. Decent value on the wine list. Ordered a nice French Chablis at less than $40 for the bottle. Three people shared two appetizers including lamb from the tandoori that was outstanding. Had two different main dishes and two sides, including the standard Butter Chicken.
Of course we had Naan Bread and Rice as well. The quality of ingredients in all dishes was superb and the end taste of each item stood out on it's own. A week into our trip to London, we finally found the Indian we were looking for. Character, Quality, and Atmosphere all delivered at a fair price. Gopal's is also ideal for pre-theatre dinner as they are right in the midst of the West End. Thanks to Gopal's for a great last night in London.
Great little reasonable find. Totally on a whim, I went here a few weeks ago with extreme hunger pangs. Definitely coming back soon. Considering the location, it's very affordable (similar places nearby were charging nearly double for fish curries). Everything that my girlfriend and I ordered was very well cooked and not oily unlike some Indian places. Unlike many Indian places which seem to make their hotter dishes milder than they should be (probably to cater for more stereotypically Anglicised tastes), what I ordered was without a doubt hot and spicy, but not forsaking flavour at all. With a few obligatory beers thrown in too, this made for a really nice mid-week dining experience with the service as attentive as the cooking.
I had the pleasure of dining at this Indian restaurant and I must say, their vegan dishes were an absolute delight. The freshness and burst of flavors in each bite were truly impressive. It's rare to find such well-prepared vegan options that satisfy both the palate and the desire for a wholesome meal. If you're looking for a fantastic culinary experience, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit!
Great authentic Indian cuisine in a very pleasant, clean and friendly atmosphere. The appetizers, lamb, were very good. The traditional dishes were all great!
Even dessert was wonderful as was the service.
I have loved the service and food, it is not cheap but worth it because the service is amazing and the food very good. This is a part of London where you can't expect to save money so at least you eat on a nice table cloth. The lamb chops were My favourite.
Really enjoyed our dinner here. Fantastic service and very good food. Plenty of Gluten Free options too!
The food here was the star of the show, one of the best Indian food experience I’ve had. Had to ask for more naan as it was amazing
Only downside is the staff. They are constantly watching you eat and as soon as something is empty they remove it instead of waiting for you to finish all your food. Very off putting
We stumbled across this place whilst we were in a hurry to find somewhere to eat before heading to a pre-booked event and it did not disappoint! We got seated immediately and there was staff all around checking if we needed anything. The food came fairly quickly and all together (as we requested), every dish we got was tasty and we could not fault them. I definitely recommend the paneer papdi chaat - it's not something we had seen at any other Indian restaurants before but it tasted immaculate.
All in all, I would definitely recommend going here for a meal and the prices are really good. I would definitely return here for another meal.
Can’t say enough good things about this restaurant.
We tried a few other restaurants before finding this and all of them were reservation only.
We were able to walk right in here, the service was phenomenal, the food was delicious and although it was warm when we walked in (like every place in London) as soon as we sat down, they kicked in the AC and it was very comfortable.
Highly recommend this place to anyone in the area.
We found Gopal's through a recommendation from a friend. I thanked him when we left. The service was top notch and could not have been better.
We ordered:
Vegetable Samosa - They were smaller than what I'm used to, but they were excellent.
Naan - I would have rather went with the garlic Naan, but my daughter would only eat the regular. It was soft and perfect.
Vegetable Korma - Probably the best I've ever had. I would have liked more pieces of potato and cauliflower, but it was great anyway.
Butter Chicken - Again, another dish I would have not gotten but had to due to my wife and daughter not liking spicy food. Since we are staying at a hotel, it would have been a waste to order a 3rd main course (spicy) and not finished it (and I didn't want to stuff my face and feel awful). Anyway, the dish was tasty and I would highly recommend it for anyone that doesn't appreciate spicy food.
If I come back to London, Gopal's is 100% on my list.
Excellent Bombay Indian cuisine. We had the lamb hydrabadi which was tender cooked with spices, chicken tandoori still moist. Added the dhaal as the food was much appreciated. Top quality even for our South East Asian standards with reasonable pricing. Extra points for absolutely spotless toilets. Lovely.
We are visiting from the USA and had lunch here today. It was wonderful!! The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating to my one year old, and the food was delicious. Their loaded samosa was great, as well as the squid with pepper dish. They even cooked special chicken tikka masala for my baby. We 10/10 recommend!
Excellent, tasty and well priced Indian food. We had a lovely meal with great service. Highly recommend.
Wow, that was the BEST curry/experience i’ve ever had in my entire life. I cannot fault any part of it. The staff were friendly, dealt with us quickly, the food - wow. The food was spectacular. I’ve had many curries and this is a different league. I cannot fault this place and I will definitely be back!
I would give this restaurant more than five stars if I could! Delicious food and the hosts/staff were friendly and attentive!! I will definitely be stopping back by the next time I am in London!!!!
Thank you for the excellent service!!
I had the chicken curry with a side of basmati rice…. The taste was perfection and service was even better.
Had a wonderful meal there last night with family. We had vegetarian dishes, the samosa chat and paneer sweet sour as starters and daals, chana and Hyderabadi veg as main courses. Food tasted like restaurant food you get in India, which was fantastic! Straight up traditional Indian fare with no mucking about. I like that. And our server was particularly lovely gentleman called Mr Kishore. Fabulous service too! Only downside was they didn't have quite a few dishes on vegetarian menu available. So we were left to choose from whatever they had and didn't get to eat our first choices.
What a fantastic meal we had with family tonight. Such friendly staff & great service. The meal was delicious 👍🏻
Definitely go again when we’re back in London x
Great food unfortunately customers are people are very loud there. Everyone seems to be shouting and laughing loud.
Don't expect a quiet atmosphere
We had the butter chicken with garlic Naan and the dum biryani(made authentically with a dough seal for its final step) loved it😍. White wine(sauce blanc) paired really well with our food. So glad we stopped in during our lay over ❤️
