Mariette El-Soury Massabni (Les Délices De Mariette)

The Anchor and hope is a very nice place for dinner. The shrimp I chose was delicious. Cooked just as needed with a great smell. The staff is welcoming and very helpful. Recommended when in London 👍
We popped in for a quick drink before a visit to the Tate Modern and dinner at another restaurant- when we arrived at the other restaurant we decided none of the mains looked particularly good so quickly paid the bill for our drinks and nibbles then made a bee-line back to the Anchor and Hope.
It was already busy earlier in the evening and was still turning over a roaring trade when we returned around 830ish. We settled in with a drink before being seated about 20 minutes later- not a bad wait all things considered and the staff were very good about letting us know when the table would be ready.
We ordered the lamb's neck with dauphinois, vegetables, and salad for two, pluse a carafe of the house red. The portion is huge- there's a lot of meat on those necks, the potatoes are ridiculously rich and well the salad was just unnecessary. This was perhaps not the best move for 2 people who had downed a couple of drinks and nibbles already... our eyes were definitely bigger than our stomachs on this occasion so we perhaps didn't enjoy it as much as we should have.
But we will be back because there were a lot of things on the menu that appealed and it's got a wonderfully buzzy atmosphere!
Very different and interesting, but a bit expensive and rushed experience. Had an interesting scallops with lentils and bacon dish, partner had the beef provencale. Shared the flourless choc cake which was delicious and had beer/pimms each. Bill came to £50 for two on a Thursday night. It might have been just us, we were going to theatre so had about 50min to eat, but the place was very full and we felt a little rushed to order...though food arrived in literally minutes. Very friendly staff, I thought the place itself wasn't anything special, interesting that they only have 2(!) two-people tables, rest of us are on tables with other people, which I'm fine with. Has outdoor seating and bar area, 10min walk from Waterloo, near The Old and Young VIc. Might go back another time to try something different. Also, note they don't take bookings except Sunday I think.
