This is simply my favourite restaurant, the place I go back to again and again. Yesterday Samuel Clark had devised a simple salad of beetroot and wild garlic with goats cheese. It melted in the mouth. My cod was cooked to perfection, and my partner's roast lamb also. The consistency of the cooking is amazing - I've never had a dud dish. The desserts, cheese and wine are superb and the service friendly, knowledgeable and efficient.

I have had my Moro East cookbook for years and some of the recipes have become staples in my own repertoire but I had never been to the restaurant. That all changed on Friday. The atmosphere was buzzing! The waiting staff were polite and attentive. All three courses were visually stunning and packed with flavour. The ingredients were top notch. Absolutely superb! I look forward to my next visit, and the next, and the next...

Fab dinner.  It was crowded for a Monday so a tad noisy but not rowdy.  Service is casual but impeccable with waiters  dressed in T-shirts and aprons.  Just formal enough for new cutlery to be brought between starters and mains, but not so formal that your wine glasses get refilled by staff.  Exactly to my liking with respect to decorum.  Wait staff were knowledgeable enough about the food to give an opinion as to whether the minted pea and yoghurt soup was nicer served cold or warm.

To start there was sourdough bread brought with some olive oil.  Try to avoid nibbling on bread despite the rather long wait for food because the portion size for mains is enormous.  Mains are priced at around £25 mark, so more expensive than most restaurants we frequent but they do make up for this in portion size.  Also save some bread for mopping up the delicious sauces.

I started with the fresh pea soup served warm, as recommended by the waiter.  Very nice, though a little underseasoned but as there was salt and pepper on the table, no complaints from me.  A refreshing combination of sweet fresh peas, roughly chopped rather than pureed smooth, toasted pistachios and a dollop of yoghurt.  My companion's starter of roast asparagus with orange mojo and roast almonds had a very similar palate of flavours.  Green, sweet, salty, nutty.  The balance of sweet orange and salt was really intriguing.  Though in retrospect we didn't need any starters due to the size of the mains.

I had wood roasted pork belly served with patatas alinadas and oyster mushrooms a la plancha.  There was also a mushroom sauce.  Beautifully balanced with the acidity of the Andalucian potato salad cutting through the fat of the pork and the mushrooms lending earthiness.  The pork rind was incredibly brittle and the meat was soft so a nice contrast in terms of textures as well.  My companion's order of grilled lamb with spinach, chard and chickpeas was fabulous too.  Lamb was tender and pink and the vegetables amazing.  The greens were soft and buttery and had been braised in meat broth as well as sauteed.  Chick peas were scented with saffron and cumin and also cooked in a meat broth.  The preserved lemon and olives touted on the menu were actually in a tart salsa verde which punctuated the richness of the lamb with a nice citrus and herbal note.

I liked the fact that service is casual enough that they are completely relaxed  about providing a takeaway box for food you can't finish.  My only complaint is that I needed a sharp steak knife for dealing with very brittle pork crackling.

Don't miss the beautiful floor tiles in the bathrooms.

Another trip to London & more time with Andy and team. Moro welcomes you like family & backs up their great service with outstanding food. I was asked by another guest if I was a food critic... given the food-train of plates. Every dish is mouth-wateringly good, delicious everything! Love this place.

Moro's main course was fantastic but the desserts were average. For £22, I got chicken on a bed of spinach with caramelised apples and Iberian sausage. It was flavourful and filling. The dessert was a little disappointing. I got the yoghurt cake which was too heavy on the citrus and seemed to have too many elements that didn't gel together. My friend got the cardamom ice cream which was nice but not worth 7 pounds (Dishoom does better cardamom and rose water ice cream). Overall: nice for a special occasion but skip the dessert to save yourself the extra 10 pounds!

And the setting - wonderful location since it is in exmouth market. The decor is nice but not memorable.

Lovely spot in exmouth market. I have the cookbook but have never tried to create one of their dishes. Having eaten there, I just might. Interesting combinations of flavours and ingredients and one of those restaurants where you will definitely eat something you wouldn't be able to replicate at home. Could be a good test.

Although Clerkenwell is technically the most central London you can get, everyone always sighs when I suggest going for food there. This meant that I've had to save Moro for an occasion where people aren't allowed to sigh, i.e. my birthday (In fairness I could have been crueller - there's a few haunts in Leytonstone my friend has recommended).

What's a tad annoying is that you can only book a table at 6pm or 8.30pm. I opted for 6pm to keep the peace with the oldies, but when we arrived it was dead as a dodo, so I asked if we could push back the table until 7pm, which they accepted (massive huh?!). The pub we went to until then, the Exmouth Arms, was also great for a pre dinner tipple by the way,

Upon arrival we were greeted with bread which was pretty tough, to the extent that we pretty much used up the entire bottle of olive oil they gave us to lubricate this. But it's free bread, so who's complaining. The restaurant itself attempts to doll up Northern African cuisine, but please do not assume that this means that all wine will taste great, because the house white is revolting, and in no way worth £20. Mains are all around the £24 mark, so make sure you ask for the meaning behind ingredients if you're at a loss to what "morels and oloroso" are - you don't want to make the wrong choice. I went for the wood roasted sea bass with pea, orange and green anise salad and braised fennel, which was absolutely stunning, but the lamb and chicken looked insane as well, and everyone pretty much inhaled their food so that's always a good sign. For stodge lovers out there, (and much to my cousin's dismay), the meals do not come with carbs - my cousin genuinely asked "Does this meal come with carbs?", but they are happy to accommodate with a side of couscous if you ask. My advice would of course be to fill up on the stale bread instead.

Always fully booked if you try to book on the day like I do, but once I had group of 10 and stil tried to get a table. the lovely manager got me a table on that evening, got my number and called me. so we managed to have a nice beer at the pub around the corner before the dinner. the food is good, especially if you like Moroccan food like I do. the food taste like Spanish meets north African guess that's southern Spanish cuisine is about? my highlight there was the rose & cardamom ice cream which I believe the best flavour I ever had in ice cream and a good big portion too : ) big smile .

One of the best choices along exmouth!. Although I haven't officially visited Moro yet, I have tried their stall at Exmouth market which is consistently popular every time I go. for 4.50 pounds, I got a large helping of spiced pulled lamb (which was amazing as the seasoning permeates your senses in every single bite taken whilst the lamb melts in your mouth) served with freshly made flatbread, vegetables and a dallop of yogurt to balance the flavours.

It truly was one of the best street food meals that I have had and I would definitely go back again since it is such a bargain for lunch!

Lunch at Moro. The atmosphere was buzzing and nice to see for Saturday afternoon. Food was good. We had grilled sea bass, veg and patatoes. It was amazing. The fish was very fresh. I love the flavour of the fish and capers and the grilled cabbage too. It may not sound nice but I loved the cabbage. Not my usual choice of veg but it was yummy.
We did feel the tables were a little to closed to one another. Not good if you are closterphobic like we do...
Staff were friendly and welcoming!

Moro serves spanish/north african food and its menus change every three weeks to reflect what's in season. Charcoal grilled and woodfire grill are obviously a specialty as every main was one or the other. There's also an extensive tapas menu offering everything from babaganoush, chorizo, white asparagus, sardines etc etc.

Thursday night I went for the first time at Moro, I was invited by my lovely flatmate for a very late birthday celebration (my birthday was in March). She wanted to do something special, and go somewhere I had never been before. After a few months of research, we ended up next to our house, in Exmouth Market in the famous Spanish/North African restaurant Moro. She discovered I had never been there, despite the fact I have been to their sister restaurant: Morito many times. JACKPOT, she found the prefect place to go.  As soon as we arrived we were offered some bread and olive oil. We had a look at the menu and wine list. I thought it was a bit weird you couldn't have tapas served at the table as sides to your meal. Bread & Olive oil My flatmate ordered charcoal grilled octopus. I am not a big fan of octopus, which I forgot to tell her. But I tried a little piece, just because I was curious. For a non-lover of octopus, I quite liked it, but I won't be able to have a whole dish on my own.

Moro seems to have been one of East London’s ‘go-to’ restaurant references for as long as we can remember. Famous for its fusion of Spanish / Middle-Eastern cuisine, bookings at this ever popular spot are an absolute essential for the dinner service. Part of its ongoing success must certainly lie in its atmosphere. With a long bar and cosy wood tables scattered about, the large room is an invitation to conviviality. Regarding the food, the menu offers a great selection that changes with the seasons. As a starter, the warm peppers stuffed with salt cod brandada is very pleasant, while the mixed vegetable mezze gives you an opportunity to taste a more traditional Middle-Eastern dishes. Served with freshly baked pita bread, the spicy lentils salad, humus and tzatziki are tasty and ideal for sharing. For mains, the charcoal-grilled bream with grilled peppers, tahini sauce and tomato is tasty, though you’ll need to fillet the fish yourself. If you’re not feeling that technical, the sea bass

The menu last night was full of such wonderful and appealing things it was hard to choose. Should I have the Carrot and Caraway Puree with Feta, Pine Nuts, Mint and Crisp Bread to start, or maybe Agridulce Baby Onions on Toast with Panceta Iberica? In fact, I opted to begin the meal with Salt Cod Carpaccio with Broad Beans – as did Jenny, while Robert opted for Gambas y Patatas Alinadas.

can't say enough good things about Moro: The cookbooks! The lunch-time stall on Exmouth Market! Sister restaurant Morito! And then there's the place itself. With a monthly-changing menu of delicious Moorish cuisine (think charcoal grilled fish and meat dishes, paired with classic Mediterranean ingredients - chickpeas, aubergine, pomegranate and garlic all feature heavily), Moro is hands-down one of the best restaurants in North London...

I’d been to see a bit of a geezer selling reclaimed floors out in the wilds of E4.I suggested that  made C come with me. He was thrilled. Amazing that he has been in London for nearly thirty years, but has never driven through the joy that is Palmers Green, viewed from the highway to heaven that is the A406. I’d been looking for something worn, something authentic, something better than the vile laminated mock wood/red carpet combination I’d inherited from my taste-free vendors. Hunting around on the interweb, I came across a man selling the original floors from the old Lewis’s department store in Liverpool. The one with the Epstein statue of the naked man outside. Installed in 1927, it was just what I was looking for. The floor. Not the man. Job done, my thoughts turned to food.

It has been so long since we were last at Moro's, it really is quite sad indeed. When we first went there, it still had a big reputation of being full of tosser media types, and it was pretty full of those types back then. Nowadays it doesn't seem to attract those twats as it used to, although there were a few in when we arrived. Everything else about Moro was just how we remembered it, from the warm welcome to the buzzy vibe, to the great food and that great kitchen. How I always wanted to work in there. I really cannot understand why it has taken us over 5 years to return to Moro. I know it will not be as long before we return, but I'm pretty sure we said that last time. I brought the first Moro cookbook when it came out, and have been regularly cooked from it for many a year now. Although I kinda prefer some of the recipes from Claudia Rodens Middle Eastern book. They have been cooked over many generations and have a long tradition. Moro's recipes are modern and chic, just like the

Wife thought that I should cut to the chase and just state that our meal at Moro was fantastic and be done with it. She sees no point in me going round in circles and then come to the same conclusion. "If there's anyone reading your post at all, they would just want to know where's good to eat and that's about it," she concluded. I hate to agree with her for I hardly read beyond a couple of sentences on restaurant reviews. Well, if there are photos, I'll probably just scan through them and only stop to read about a dish if a photo caught my fancy. I'm that shallow. That said, now that you know my take on Moro, you might as well go through the entire piece. I promise you it wouldn't take you more than a few moments. YQ was in town again. I find it harder and hard

The food at Moro is by far the best meal I have had in a while. Unlike many other restaurants in London with such prestigious status, Moro provides generous portions of simple food. The setting is casual and the service is fast, creating a unique fine dining experience.

Food- Moro seems to concentrate on serving well cooked fish and meat, so I was slightly disappointed when my vegetarian aunt suggested that we share the pumpkin salad starter, which looked boring compared to the colourful plates of duck breast salad and pigeon breast which I saw being served to the surrounding tables. However, the dish proved to be a taste sensation of beautifully dressed rocket, crunchy nuts and warm pumpkin. My carnivorous habits were realigned by my main; I chose the lamb served with rocket and potato salad. The lamb was unbelievably delicious; I sat in silence as I devoured each succulent piece which was beautifully peppered by the rocket, and the potato salad was a revelation, served warm with running feta cheese and spring onions. The dessert menu was small with a choice between either a chocolate and orange tart, yoghurt cake, or raison or rosewater and cardamom ice cream. I had the yoghurt cake since I knew from my research it was a menu staple. It wasn’t what I expected as it was not solid but rather a serving of yoghurt and pomegranate with crumbled citrus cake hidden within. It was undoubtedly tasty and original dessert, but my aunt’s cardamom ice cream really stood out with its original taste that was creamy yet not too sweet.

Really enjoyed dinner at Moro. My partner’s been before but I have not and he’s always raved about it. I opted for the croquettes for a starter and the mixed veg mezze for a main, between us we shared a bottle of orange wine. Usually we’d go for the typical starter-main-dessert but we were both super stuffed by the end of the main. Really enjoyable and tasty food. Staff were lovely. Exmouth market is a great spot for this restaurant. Excited to come again.

Great service and food! The place itself is not very fancy or well designed - it’s pretty casual, but the details show more than that. A bit overpriced, but once you taste the food, you’d get why. The bread is really great and served immediately when seated. We had the 2 different soups and they were both great, especially the leek and yogurt one. The cured smoked beef with beef candies was also very tasty, I just wish there was more beef in there. We had also the sea bass and lamb, both dishes were pretty special, well seasoned and yummy. For the dessert we had the chocolate tart and the yogurt cake with pistachio and pomegranate- both were amazing. Wine selection is not very wide, but satisfying.

Came here for our team Christmas lunch. Had never heard of it, but was booked by someone else in the team. As soon as you walk in you can smell the lovely food. We had their Christmas menu which included a bunch of starters to share, a main each and a dessert too. It was all SOOOO DELICIOUS. I’m not sure why I’ve never heard of it before, or how popular it is in London but it is amazing. Underrated in my eyes. The starters were my favourite I have to say. It varied from creamy leeks, beetroot, liver, a pasta with squid and more. All great. I don’t even like liver, but this one was amazing. Everyone had a variety of dishes for mains. I personally got seabass, others had duck, cod and lamb. I tried everything and was all cooked amazingly and so interestingly spiced. The pictures give a better view and I could be here all day describing each dish. Really is something special, this needs to be tried. Loved it, would go again. The staff were super friendly and accommodating even when we were getting a little loud! We had some amazing desserts, the most popular being a lemony yoghurt cake. Also they give bread, LOTS of great bread.

Moro is a great Spanish restaurant - though I'm not 100% sure how authentic Spanish the food is or from what region. Some up-market restaurants explain their background and cuisine type in an area of the menu which can be useful. The food was excellent quality, perhaps a tad overpriced for the portion size though. The drinks (cocktails, freshly squeezed blood orange juice etc) were also great and had a good variety. I had sourdough with oil and salt for the table, the halloumi and tomatoe starter, baked lamb for main, and the chocolate and apricot desert and thought this was excellent, though the lamb was cut very thinly - a thicker cut would be juicier. My partner tried the hake (which I also include a picture of and said that it tasted amazing). It's definitely worth visiting and trying for yourself - just bear in mind it's about £60 per person before service charge.

Great spot for tapas, love that they open early for dinner as we went at 5ishpm for a pre show bite. Amazing tortilla (even though theirs is a cold version), and probably the best bean soup I’ve ever had. Some other things we had were underseasoned, and some over seasoned but overall still tasty enough for a second visit. Service was also lovely!

Moro offer an absoluty divine Christmas set menu for groups of eight or more. I was so excited to enjoy each dish as it came that I completely forgot to take images for later. The selection of 5 starters to share were all delightful alongside their fluffy sourdough to finish the sauces. The stand out to me was the Sea Bream Ceviche with raw salad, such a fresh and zingy starter. Two other delights were the Charcoal grilled quail with winter tabbouleh as well as the Grilled leeks and artichokes. I was too excited to take a photo of my main but I had the Charcoal grilled Lamb with farika and pumpkin puree. Having sampled the Wood Roasted chicken I can recommend the Lamb if you fancy something rich however the chicken was succulent and not at all dry. For dessert I ordered the Yogurt cake which did not impress me. Thankfully a companion switched with me and I much enjoyed the Chocolate tart which was delightfully bitter. If you're after a little boozy treat the Sherry Ice cream is a strong contender, no need for a tipple afterwards. All in all a wonderful experience with great company, the staff were all so helpful, gracious and attentive to detail I cannot fault them.

Such a lovely time - excellent food, friendly service and great atmosphere in one of the most fun streets in London. Menu wise, food was mostly delicious: chicken was succulent and flavorful and lamb and aubergine was divine with the homemade flatbread. Didn’t love the artichoke dish, which was not as hearty as the other plates (all of which were really generously sized). Great alcohol menu, with an emphasis on (of course) Spanish wines and spirits. Our server was helpful, gave us honest advice and was happy to answer everything we asked! And the booking team was equally kind. Would most definitely recommend, and not just because they gave me free bread and olive oil.

I had a very nice time at Moro. The restaurant is on a nice lively street, inside the atmosphere and the decor are simple, elegant and laidback. The food was good and healthily prepared. My partner is vegetarian and found some good options on the menu. However, as many others say, their prices are quite high for the food and service you receive. We paid ~130£ for 2 appetisers, 2 main courses, 2 deserts, and 1 glass of wine. Plus the restaurant is very noisy making difficult to talk without easing the volume of the voice. I would mostly recommend to pre-dine here with some tapas and a glass of wine.
