Happiness served gratis.
Lovely setting and delicious food. Great place to go on a sunny day for leisurely lunch and to escape the bustle of London
Rib eye steak were good and oysters too, good service, good manager, good place to go for romantic dinner Sunday afternoon. Love it
A beautiful setting for summer lunch in the fresh air right on the canal. The food was not particularly exotic but was yummy- especially the sharing platters! Staff were friendly and attentive despite being very busy over the lunch hour. Would recommend and love to go back.
I've always had an amazing time every time I come here, and whoever I bring with me. Great food, great staff and beautiful location x
A fantastic welcoming place to eat. Food was delicious and staff and service was excellent and friendly. 5 star +++++
Beautiful ambience and great food... The staff is very sweet and makes sure you have a good time. In love with this place..
Highly recommend! Amazing place, amazing food.
Perched canal-side in Little Venice, the restaurant has a casual but chic nautical theme with a really family-friendly vibe. During the Saturday lunch service, the restaurant was buzzing, full of families and friends happily gathering for a bite to eat. Our little group were treated to three courses of fairly classic dishes, simple in flavour and generous in size. I loved the beetroot cured salmon, was a little defeated by the enormous chicken salad, and grinned ear to ear at the arrival of my knickerbocker glory!
The service was accommodating and familial, which is exactly what you expect from a good neighbourhood restaurant; I got the sense that the diners in there had been eating at The Summerhouse for some time and would continue that tradition for some time to come.
Out of all the places on the Grand Union Canal for summer, this is one of the most awesome places. Nice feel, good food and a lovely selection of beers etc. you have tofu Eco this place out! ☺️
Eating at The Summerhouse in Little Venice is like a getaway to Nantucket but in London. Based just along Regent's Canal, in the summer months it's a lovely place for an affordable brunch and they make a mean Bloody Mary if you want to make it a boozy one. They have a lovely little lounge section as well where you often see a local seated with a coffee and a book on a Sunday morning. Dinner is a slightly more formal/pricey affair, but the fish-heavy menu is refreshing and nice for a special night out.
Beautiful setting. Very romantic atmosphere, sat by window overlooking the canal. unfortunately, it was one of the coldest days in february when the canal was iced over. the restaurant did however provide blankets, but that didn't stop me from losing feeling in my feet! had a seafood platter with smoked salmon for starters. seafood was ok, but the salmon melted in my mouth. i had the sea bass for main course, which was reasonable. the apple and rhubarb crumble was delicious.
The summerhouse is located in Little Venice overlooking the grand union canal. This delightful setting is the perfect backdrop for an excellent menu with delicious food and ample portions complete the picture. The wine list is well thought out complementing the excellent food. The staff are helpfull with out being overbearing but are always available if you need anything This is a 9/10 restaurant
The Summerhouse is what I imagine an elegant restaurant in the Hamptons to be like. The decor is seaside chic, my favourite touch being the shell shaped salt and pepper shakers, and it overlooks the Grand Union Canal through wide open windows so the breeze adds to charming setting.
I was with two friends celebrating one of their birthdays; we unanimously decided against starters to save room for the enticing desserts.
For main I had a salmon and haddock fish cake with spinach, tomato chutney and beurre blanc (tasted a little like a hollondaise sauce but far less rich).
We shared a bottle of the house white with dinner and I thoroughly recommend it.
For dessert we shared the Eton mess with strawberries and chocolate mousse with coffee creme and chocolate chip cookie. I'm not such a cream person, so didn't take to the Eton mess. The chocolate mousse was definitely pleasant, but not uber exciting; the cookie was a nice touch but still something was lacking.
Perhaps we were foolish to have sacrificed starters for desserts after all.
On the whole though, I would thoroughly recommend The Summerhouse. I would also recommend a drink at its sister restaurant/bar, The Waterway (one minute down the road from The Summerhouse).
Food: great food. I recommend starting with calamari, its not the usual one you will find, the batter is quite unique with some spiciness to it! Love it. They mainly have seafood, but their meat options are delicious too. Do not go for a salad as they are neither worth the money nor exceptional. The menu constantly changes, but I can assure you that it is highly unlikely to be a miss. As for the deserts, the creme brulee is just delicious. So don't be too conventional with your choices and most of all, enjoy!
Atmosphere/Seating: AMAZING! You will love sitting in that restaurant! By the canal, and well designed, you'll feel like you are in a beachhouse! I suggest you go at sunset, best time. One of the best places to go to in little venice. Also the owner is always there and he's fun to chat with. The place is not too big so busy times may require a booking in advance.
Location: in the heart of little venice, by the canal. Gorgeous walk after the meal!
BON APPETIT!
Exquisite dinning at this treasure in little Venice. The interior decor is accentuated by the river bank streaming alongside the restaurant. This lovely ambiance is well-matched with the incredible food at the Summerhouse. The quality of their seafood is commendable. My friend and I had the pleasure of sharing their fresh oysters, seared scallops, and popcorn shrimp as starters, followed by the catch of the day. A memorable experience. It goes without saying that the team of waiters deserve much credit for their service. They were attentive to our needs, friendly, and offered excellent recommendations for food and drink. The prices were quite steep, but this is standard for most of London. If you’re in the mood for a treat, I suggest keeping Summerhouse on your fine dining list.
Nicely located restaurant, just a walking distance from Little Venice. Good seafood options, Summerhouse sharing platter was delicious, everything fresh and tasty (popcorn shrimps top). Nice and professional staff, they were booked out but still managed to squeeze us in.
Very surprised about how nice and lovely this place is! On a sunny day in London, this is a little piece of heaven, offering tranquility and good food. The price is steep but the atmosphere and canal view makes it worth while. Exceptional waiters too.
I went for dinner with friends and was so impressed that I went again the next week with my brother. Excellent food, good wine list, reasonable prices and the setting on the canal is lovely. A really nice restaurant.
Ambience is definitely lovely on a sunny day. The house is quite full, even for lunch time we booked table at 2pm. The signature seafood plates was 💯, however the other main full sea bass was quite tasteless. Waitress was nice, helping us move to near river seat when next door guests gone. Avg 40-50/ppl.
This was a great place to have lunch before starting our walk from Little Venice. The servers were extremely attentive. The view of the lock was wonderful. And, most importantly, the food was fresh and well prepared.
We shared the charred asparagus and that left us wanting more. She had the sea bass and I had the tuna. Both were cooked very well and had complimentary sauces. That and our glasses of Sauvignon Blanc and Cote du Rhône, respectively, made for a very pleasant and vegetable forward lunch.
💷💵 Avg price of 40£/person. Main dish, glass of wine, and a side.
🏠 The restaurant resembles a boat, with wooden decors and a lot of flowers. The place is very inviting and cosy, and sits right on top of the canal.
🍽️ The food is also delicious, but the cod, since is fresh cod, lacks a bit of salt on its seasoning. Apart from that everything was great and pretty tasty.
There is like a secret garden, has Nice atmosphere, tasty food and very nice outlook. You should booking before to go .we have been there in a sunny July day and we loved everything, ordered fish and chips. It was very delicious, I can recommend
The Summerhouse is located near Little Venice, open to one side with a view on the canal. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with a relaxed ambiance. The menu selection is mainly seafood, but also with some vegetarian and meat options. Scallops, popcorn shrimps, seared rock. bass all to be recommended. Excellent attentive service. Will come again!
We stumbled onto an article about Little Venice in London. It was such a pretty area. The Summerhouse was our food stop and it was a favorite. All of the food was outstanding and the drinks were too. Everything was fresh and delicious. Great staff as well.
Very nice place the food is very good especially the scallops as an appetizer the wine selection is nice the service nice the team is very friendly it has a small outside area for smoking right on the river it’s Cozy and romantic place I personally recommend you to go and try to get a table right next to the river and I would definitely go back there good job guys 🙏🏻
Had the calamari as a starter and it was not too bad, I would try something else though. The fish was really good though. It was tender, fresh and had good flavour. Service was good too.
I loved the place: the food was great, fresh and the quantities just right . Service was outstanding, and the ambiance too. We were well taken care of in spite of being late , which we found very kind .
I totally recommend it
What a great place for lunch! The restaurant is a converted house boat, which added to the great atmosphere. I had risotto Primavera, which was beyond delicious!
Lovely little restaurant on a fixed boat on the canal. Tucked away quite nicely on the more quieter part of the canal. The decor and open window adds to nice atmosphere, and the staff were friendly and attentive.
Had the seafood platter to start, the catch of the day for main which was sea bream with various vegetables and hazelnut chocolate brownie for desert. Overall it was pretty nice but thought each of the dishes could have tasted a tad better.
Great seafood on a cold rainy day in London. Clam chowder with haddock was unlike any other I’ve had but divine. Sea bass special was excellent and they allowed me to modify my order. A great experience.
Really enjoyed it. The restaurant is perfect for a date night. It is right on the canal, so you can enjoy the romantic view with light music and soft lights.
Our waiter was amazing but unfortunately I can't remember his name.
Ordered to share the fish mix as a starter, half lobster, cheese platter and a bottle of wine for just over 100£. I consider it a reasonable price for the location and quality of the food.
Looking towards visiting the venue again maybe when the weather warm up
Went here for brunch which was delicious. Such a gem tucked away in a quiet part of London, yet so central ! The staff were so attentive and professional and polite. The food was freshly cooked and delicious. I also particularly enjoyed the decor. A sea/fish theme was tastefully represented. Such a lovely restaurant for families too in a location overlooking the canal which is perfect for a gentle walk. Found the whole experience quite heart warming!!
