Reviews Duke Of Argyll

The Duke of Argyll is a large pub which serves good beer and very good prices. It has an old-world feel and there are some thoughtful details to the various old photos and posters around the walls. The look from the street is perhaps a little dingy but the good sized bar makes for rapid service and the large saloon means you're more likely to get a seat here than at many other nearby pubs at rush hour.

The food is decent enough and reasonably priced, though if you're looking for a pub dinner to enjoy then the Duke probably isn't for you.

On Soho Pub Tour with our fantastic Guide. Tom Hogan, our first stop was Duke of Argyll Pub. Time froze there and everything about it transported you to centuries gone by. Rules of the House still stand: No Swearing, no music, no electronic devices. The place insists on interaction, conversation, conviviality. Loved it.

Great little pub, I have been here a few times. Love the decor, exactly how pubs should look and feel. Due to location is can be pricey and get there early to secure a seat. Love the booths they have too. So unique and definitely worth a visit. Highly recommend and will return

The food was fantastic but they were a bit understaffed, while very friendly it was clear they were overwhelmed. I cannot recommend the Steak and Ale pie enough - I’ll be back just for that!

We had the place to ourselves while downstairs the pub and bar were heaving! Great comfy booths and delicious food. The girl serving was new (her first week) and super sweet and attentive. We are great and it was reasonably priced.

Fantastic beers (as you would expect from any Samuel Smith) in the gorgeous Victorian style pub. It does get pretty busy & noisy, especially on Friday evenings.

Lovely old pub... lots of wooden panels, very spacious which is excellent during these difficult times with social distancing. We sat upstairs by a wonderful REAL log burning fire, it was total bliss, (smelling the burning of fresh wood and listening to the crackling flames) so lovely... A pint or two of excellent organic beer and a huge plate of fish n chips... not forgetting the sticky toffee pudding with custard...I never usually order a desert, but it just felt like one of those days when I needed some comfort food...My... my...the sticky toffee pudding was AMAZING! You must try it!!!! Staff were all exceptionally friendly too... with all Covid procedures followed... it made our very first visit to the Duke of Argyll memorable. I definitely recommend this place... Well done guys, thank you ✨

This place is a bit of a special one... I love it so much and it's brilliant on so many levels. Absolutely an original, it's got deep deeeeep dark brown panelling, everywhere. Frosted glass, so you can't see in, and separate little tiny serving booths off the bar... That's right, you have your own little bar all to yourself. They serve a stout, better than Guinness, really. And a bourbon, I can definitely live with. Keep this spot for a experience...all on its own. Gorgeous.

Lovely pub. The atmosphere was amazing with a very diverse crowd of people. It has a traditional style pub with a lounge upstairs. There's also some secluded intimate areas. Nice for meeting someone special. Can recommend.
