We were in the area and trying to decide where to go for food when we came across Tas, and having been to Hazev earlier in the year we recognised the menu and ordered meatballs, a mixed grill and moussaka. The food was very good although not much on a plate for the mixed grill. Moussaka was lovely, piping hot and tasted amazing but I asked for chilli sauce which wasn't too great and had to scrape it to a side. Our waiter was also very nice which made the whole experience nicer overall and I think we'll be heading there again soon.

Turkish food is very close to my heart due to its amazing similarity to Greek food, especially the cuisine of northern Greece. That is why when I went to Tas I immediately recognised half the dishes as being shared by both countries and it did make me slightly nostalgic of having home made food cooked by my grandma.

While my friends decided to go for the most widely known dishes of kefte and a stew I decided to try the hunkar begendi, a dish with mashed aubergine, vegetables, cheese and pieces of lamb. I have to say the flavour and the quality of the dish were amazing, very hearty and perfect for those rainy days when you want something warming and homely. Absolutely loved it!

As this is a chain all over London I would totally recommend checking it out and trying some of the stews and proper cooked food!

I want to take some time to tell you about an old favourite of mine. I’m guilty of getting caught up in the new ‘exciting’ openings of south London that I sometimes forget that I should also share my old favourites. One of the benefits of growing up in London is that I have a whole bank of knowledge of great places to eat, my friends love to pick my brains for such eateries, and I’ll often do the organising when we go out. Exactly this happened when we had our girls Christmas dinner back in December and after racking my brains for a while I decided that Ev, on Isabella Street in Waterloo was the perfect venue. This reminded me that I’d never included Ev, or sister restaurant Tas on the blog. And so we get to the point of this article!

It's quite a nice place with lots of vegetarian options to choose from. I decided to go for a lunch option "Sahan menu", and ordered Maydanoz Satalasi and spinach with patatoes.

The salad was served with yoghurt-based dip and delicious fresh bread. Small, boiled patatoes were served in a spinach/tomato sauce with a side yoghurt. What I liked a lot was that the warm dish was served in a warm plate, so it didn't turn cold quickly.

You also get a small snack of fresh green and black olives in oil with herbs.

The food was fine, although nothing revolutionary. Not being familiar with Turkish cuisine, I can't tell how authentic it was.

All dishes were served very quickly, and I had to barely wait for anything. The staff was fine, although was person  was polite but cold, as if I bothered her by my presence.

Fresh, delicious, fun. Love the atmosphere in Tas. It's warm and vibrant, and the open kitchen is a hive of activity. Excellently sized portions, wide variety and authentic taste.

Tas is a great restaurant that serves Anatolian/Turkish cuisine. The food is very tasty and portions are quite big. The kitchen and the bar are at the back end of the restaurant. The starter we had was borek: filo pastry filled with feta cheese and spinac

We have been going to several of the restaurants in the Tas group for a good few years now. They are ideal venues for vegetarians as well, as the menu covers a number of interesting non meat dishes.

The first one Tas The Cut is still the best, followed by the Tas Borough High Street. The one in The Cut is very efficient and delivers good quality food.

Absolutely delicious Turkish food south of the river. Near the Old and Young Vic and The National. Great two course and wine set menu that is a fabulous deal. It's a perfect pre or post theatre spot and worth a trip just because. Good for vegans and vegetarians too.

Super accommodating staff… nothing was a problem, even when we sat there for ages after our meal not asking for the bill. They weren’t packed though so I guess we would’ve felt obliged to let others take our seats. But I’ve been here before when it is packed not having booked, and they still found a small table for us. Food all looked amazing, and my 3 friends who had main dishes were very satisfied. My other friend and I shared a selection of starters, most of them lovely but found the lambs liver a bit dry and the sweet potato fries a bit soggy (hence not giving 5 stars). I would definitely come again as I was very happy with my main dish on our previous trip.

Tasty hot food. Good service. Resent the service charge automatically added. Surely that should be consumer perrogative? Having said that, we would have left a generous tip anyway, but I like to have a choice.

We were recommended to this restaurant by our hotel. And it was a great recommendation. Food was very well presented and yummy. We had the hummus, coban salata and the Tas special which is a lamb dish. Food portions were generous. Service was friendly and prompt. Recommended!

Nice restaurant. Greeted on arrival and shown to the table. Then it was a long wait with waiters avoiding eye contact and congregating by the bar. Eventually managed to find the guy that sat us. He took our order. The meze plater for two was great. Especially the shrimp and calamari. Not quite sure what everything was as the explanation from the waiter on the dish I did not recognise was yes it's nice. I would have liked to order more bread and a second drink, but again the waiters were making themselves busy avoiding the diners.

First visit since before the pandemic and it’s as good as ever. Prompt and friendly service, pleasant surroundings and tasty food. Suggest you leave space for the cinnamon topped rice pudding. Excellent value for money. One of our London favourites.

Wide range of choices with many options for meat eaters and vegetarians alike. We had items from the set menu. Mixed starters then moussaka for one of us and calamari for the other. We both had soft drinks and tap water. Total bill was around £50. Not cheap but not terrible. They lose a star as the hummus was very nice (too much Tahini) and there was dill on too many items (I do not enjoy dill)

Two kids and 3 adults seated within a few minutes @ 8:15pm on a Monday. Food came out quickly. Someone had a bday celebration; very short, courteous to others, yet enjoyable. Food was wonderful. Cheese was fresh. Hummus had nice texture and taste. Overall, great experience from such a small street cafe. Would have had more fotos-ate first before realizing this place should be promoted

Had a very enjoyable evening, Al fresco meal at Tas, the restaurant is very well known in the area. The set menu, which included two starters and one main, was tasty and filling, rounded off with Turkish Lager, and an Irish coffee, magic.
