Good food. Great ambience. Good location and the prices are quite reasonable for a indian restaurant in central London. Ordered the thali and it’s best thing you can eat after a long day if you’re very hungry.
Ps: my friend said the chole bhatura was similar to haldiram’s which I think is quite a compliment.

One of my favorite indian food restaurants in London. The food is authentic, service is very good. We ordered dahi chaat, Paneer gravy and dal makhani all of which was very good. The portion size is on lower side but worth a visit if you are looking for good indian food.

Craving for Indian food with great ambience? You can bet your money on masala zone! The food is aptly priced for the quality and quantity offered. Be it the £15 thali (comes with a choice of 3 curries) or the £15 Biryani, they are balanced, right for the stomach and tasty!

In London for work and some colleagues naturally started craving for Indian food. Found this interesting restaurant in an online search.

Tucked away, next to a pub, Roti dal is worth your visit. Basic decor, but it does bring in some Indian charm from Hindi signboards to others that one is used to seeing on trucks "Horn OK Please"

The food itself was quite tasty, though more quantity for our appetites would've been nicer. Chilly Paneer (yes in London!) and Papdi Chaat, both made for tasty starters. The pulao and daal that we ordered were also to our liking.

The young staff here is courteous and helpful.

It is one of the best place in the locality to get your hands on some exotic Indian dishes. The butter chicken and chicken mangolre makes you feel you are in India as soon as it touches your tongue. The sev puri is also nice but I was little disappointed with the Gol gappas as it was on the more less spicy side. Overall this is an ultimate restaurant for those who really love the best kind of food of this world.

Good food and nice decor. They have put in a lot of puppets all over the place making it quintessentially Indian. They have a good ensemble of North Indian chaat and its probably as good as you can find anywhere outside India. We tried pani puri (gol gappas) and Sev Puri. For mains we tried their Black Dal, Nilgiri Veg curry and Paneer Lababdar. Dal was nice, curry was with coconut base and the ones you can have with Malabari paranthas, Paneer was the usual red gravy and really tender. Most of their food is minimal spice so while they mentioned Paneer Lababdar to be chilly, for me (who doesn't eat spicy food), it wasn't even close to spicy.
Overall a good experience and if you are around that area or watching Lion King, you could try this place.

The decor is decent and the staff was very welcoming!!

This one was first restaurant I tried in Covent garden after it been renowned for good variety of cuisines here.
A Perfect ambience was first thing my eyes caught. When it came to food we had a proper three course meal starting with starters - Samosa chat and dahi puri (don’t remember the exact name) it was good.
For the main course we ordered usual daal and paneer with chapati and garlic Naan it was well satisfying (especially while missing proper Indian foods after weeks in London). The desert Faluda was a disappointment something was wrong with it. Buy and large I went home happy with food though people with me remarked place was better before.
Nevertheless I liked it and will visit again during month start as I found it expensive 😁

With courteous staff and wonderful Indian decors, this place is rated one of the Top 5 restaurants for Indian food in London. Living up to its name the staff are extremely courteous and explain the menu clearly for the tourists. Coming to the food, the starters -
1) Mixed platter (chicken tikka, lamb chops, sheek kebab and prawns) were all well cooked in tandoor. The use of right amount of spices while marination and grilling it to perfection makes this platter stand out from the rest of the kebab places.
2) Biryani - Only a handful of restaurants in London seem to serve the authentic dum biryani and this is definitely one of them. Loaded with fried onions and flavourful creamy chicken in the biryani this is a must try off their menu.
3) Chicken kothu parantha - South Indian style Naan bread chopped finely and mixed along with scrambled eggs and veggies with spices. Though the dish is slightly mild than expected it is well made and the quantity was quite a lot.

One thing that really entertains me when I talk to people about restaurants is when someone says “they don’t do chains”. What they forget is that while yes, some are rather ordinary and predictable, what they don’t recall is that all of these brands started with just one flagship site. I did eat in a certain somewhere just recently with 11 sites across the UK and there was no love in the food or the service at all, but Masala Zone is nothing like any chain I have ever eaten in. It’s impeccable, service is always immaculate and they’ve just had a shiny new refurb.

I would have given this a 5 star but the customer service is pretty bad here. They made made me cancel my booking twice and schedule it for another day. Apparently they couldn’t “find” my reservation even though I have confirmation text message from them.

Regardless, the food is excellent. The thallis are exceptional. We paired it with a spicy guava drink.
The place can get pretty noisy at night.

Although the food was very tasty and the decor within the restaurant is lovely and clean, the food was very over priced for what it was. A curry is around £15-16 and that is without any sides or rice. If the portion sizes were big enough this would be okay however the portion sizes were very small for sure a dear price. The staff were also not the most welcoming and a service charge of £6 was added to the bill which was not well deserved when we were not even asked if our food was okay or said goodbye to when we left. Overall, the food tastes good but for the price I would expect bigger portions and better service.

Masala Zone , is rated high just for two reasons.
1.- Bringing the authentic Indian taste to London ( I did try a few other places, and the spice levels were teribbly low, but at masala zone it was perfect and 200% Indian style was followed)

2.Impecable service, this place usually takes table booking atleast a day prior, we gate crashed as we were super hungry, they gave us a good table with an extraordinary service.

Orders: We took an Indian Thali, with 3 curries , and one dhal , some salad and 2 rotis everything was yum. The portions were perfect. special mention to the Palak gravy and Rajma curry.

Then we got our hands on Hyderabad Biriyani, but it was not just a masala rice, but a perfect melange of the curry layer with good long grain rice which was beautifully cooked in saffron. For the raita choice, we went for boondi Raita, literally in carb heaven.

Masala zone takes you to India in seconds via their convential flavours with not so compromise. It was not westernised. So a big thumbs up for it.

Their decor again was pretty cool. Locating them again is very simple. They are super famous.

Price : well, if you start to convert it to INR if might look whooping, we paid 30£, for just these two dishes. But we had a heart full meal, and was so full to even skip the dinner .

If in London, definitely try them.

This restaurant is amazing! I went in thinking it would be like any other non vegetarian restaurant were all the veggie options are an after thought, however that was absolutely not the case! I had the grand thali dish (came with small portions of : tarka dhal, potato curry, pea and mushroom tomato curry, peshwari naan bread (paid additional for that- menu offers chapati instead) and some other small things with a main veg curry) and it was the best meal I have had in my life! While I didn't like the main veg curry much (it was quite sour and mushy), the tarka dhal was the best dish I have ever had in my life- and I have eaten this dish at different restaurants my whole life. My meat eating boyfriend even said it was the best dish there! The potato and the mushroom curry was lovely also and the peshwari naan was amazing! I can't recommend this restaurant enough, it has amazing veggie food that omni company will absolutely love too, with tons of choices for them also. Moreover everything is marked whether it's veggie, vegan plus gluten free which makes it super easy. This has honestly been the best meal of my life and I never thought I would ever say that from a non-vegetarian restaurant!

Ultimately if you're like me where you struggle to find restaurants that cater to both your needs and your omni family members than I cannot give high enough praise to Masala Zone. Not only will it be beyond amazing for you, but also great for your company with the wide variety of vegan, vegetarian and meat dishes.

Quick side note:

My dish could've been made vegan just by subsisting various dishes (i.e. The raita) with other side dishes offered (like more dhal!!) which the sever kindly offered me!

I was Masala zoned, hence the visit :) cravings for some delicious Thalis and mango lassi made me pick this place. However what fascinated me more than the food was the decor, Rajasthani puppets on the ceiling with Rajasthani traditional doors, jars of dried spices, potpourri and all added to the beauty of this place. We were seated as soon as we arrived and our sever was impressively polite and enthusiastic about hosting us. We ordered a pain puri, mango lasso, samosa chat and a grand veg thali. The lassi was refreshing, samosa chat was average (lacked tanginess) a very important element in chat. The Pani puris puri were fresh and the masala filling was good and the pani tasted a lot like jaljeera. It worked for me cause I like jaljeera also, but for those who like tanginess, I wouldn't recommend going for the pani puri.We then received our thali, had many items and among those the aloo sabji that was humble (similar to the ones cooked at home) and the paneer makhani was delicious. The dal was bland and so was the cauliflower mushroom sabji. The garlic nan that we replaced with Roti was soft and nice.
My overall experience was good :)

Vibrant and colourful, Masala Zone is an assault on the senses - in the best way possible.

I had a chicken samosa followed by a prawn thali. I was in heaven. Both were punchy and full of flavour, and hugely satisfying on a freezing winter's day.

The restaurant itself has a cheerful atmosphere, the puppets hanging all over the ceiling tell many stories and add a beautiful ambience. Service was quick and friendly, and the location of the restaurant smack bang in Covent Garden is second to none.

I'll definitely try to revisit next time I'm back in the UK!

What we went for: Dinner with an old friend

Ambience: I love the canopy of Indian puppets in their glorious colorful costumes!! Very atmospheric, gets you into an intimate setting instantaneously!

What we ordered: squid bhajia and chettinad chicken for starters, idiappam seafood biryani, malabar chicken, lamb shank kolhapuri

Price: approx 100gbp

Verdict: loved the ambience, service was good and efficient, chettinad chicken and malabar chicken were the high points, idiappam biryani was the unexpected winner, lamb shank kolhapuri was the unexpected loser, masala coke kept me going between courses.

Had a nice last minute meal here, not your typical Indian, potions sizes are slightly smaller then normal Indian but coincide with normal London portions (if that makes since) , I had the biryani this comes with a yoghurt side rather then veg curry, it's tasty however leaves it slightly drier dish then I like.

Service was slow but very engaging when attending our table, so account the delays to busy restaurant.

Over all a pleasant experience.

Hello ! My first review here. I would say this is the only place in London that has the best 'masala Coke' ! Masala zone certainly offers a decent tasting Indian food. It depends on the food that you order really . Some of the dishes are super tasty specially the dessert ( gulab jamuns) .however they made us wait for atleast half an hour to warm it . The chaat section really needs to work on their dishes. This place offers a wide variety of vegetarian food ! Very tasty paneer sabzis and naan ( garlic naan) ! Service was okay I would say a little slow and less considering the entire space. The ambience is amazing ! All those Rajasthani dolls 😍. Overall I would say 3.5! Go check it out and letme know if you peeps like it ! #indian #indianfood #lunch #dinner

Our cravings for Indian deepened as we finished our breakfast.  As day turned to the night, we finally succumbed to our cravings and decided once more to have an Indian meal.  After a good hour of painstaking search and trying to make bookings, we ended up at a food chain called Masala Zone in SOHO.  Despite coming at 8pm, there was still a queue to be seated which tells a lot about the love affair between the English people and Indian food.  Speaking to the ladies queuing ahead of us, they spoke of how the really enjoyed Masala Zone and found its price to be relatively cheap for London standards.  I was sold. The turnover is quick and it took no longer than 20 minutes to clear the crowd of 15 people in front of us.Tonight, the whole table ordered Chicken Briyani with a Curry Vegetable to share.

A Rajasthani-themed Indian restaurant very close to Covent Garden station. Luckily got a table without a reservation. The service was extremely quick. The food on the other hand was a bit more spicy than expected. If you order the grand thali, make sure you're extremely hungry😆

This, in my opinion, is one of the few places that serves authentic Indian food without any fusion. This goes for the decor as well - no elephants and mirrors thankfully!

We decided to dine there on a whim; which meant waiting for 30 mins. on a weekday. Make sure you crave Indian and make reservations before you get there. They have interesting starters and mains - though me and the husband regretted our starters. I went for Pav Bhaji - it was super tasty, but I ended up not finishing my mains. The husband ordered batter-fried prawns - a wrong choice and something that shouldn't be on the menu as it doesn't go with the overall feel of their food.

Both the mains were good - lamb kolhapuri and the thali. I made a gluttonous mistake ordering a thali - but it was pretty good. The potatoes and the mangalore chicken curry were the stars! Many restaurants in India can't get the latter right, but these guys had the right consistency and taste. Bravo!

What I didn't like - they ran out of a dish for the thali, so just served the same dal in two bowls to compensate without informing us.

Service - OK. Although one lady got us a steamed hot glass for beer and then another one got us the wrong bill. The man who took our orders was friendly, courteous and keen to hear feedback. The second time.rpund, service was terrible and painfully slow.

Overall - I'll go again, but on an empty stomach.

Had a great lunch at Masala Zone Covent Garden. Ordered everything vegetarian. The starters, Aloo Tikki and Dahi Bhalla, were yum. Main course was also very good. The service was very nice. I loved the interiors which were very well done. Overall a very nice experience. Will definitely go again.

Authentic Indian food with good taste. I had the grand tahli with lamb curry. It was a feast with many sides to taste. Yougurt was there to kill the heat, which was convenient. Had the naan together as well. Great complement. The chicken biryani was not too bad. Served with yogurt and curry on the side. Had the saffron chicken as well for a non-spicy dish. Very rich in flavor. Good for those who couldn't take the heat. Not a bad place, not great either. Dishoom is something else in comparison.

I've seen Masala Zone restaurants dotted all over London and have eaten at this branch twice. I love the decoration of colourful puppets hanging from the ceiling.

They have a good selection of dishes on the menu and good portion sizes for a reasonable price. I went for the Regular Thali with prawns. The curry was delicious but could have done with a spicier kick.

I'd recommend this place, the food was good and staff were very helpful.

Like Wagamama, but for Indian Food. Not being a Londoner, I don't know where to go for the capitol's best Indian food. But I thought this was fun: quick, didn't break the bank, the space was lively, and plenty of interesting dishes in the dahl platter. The pace and feel of it reminded me of Wagamama...we don't have many places quite like this in the US, focused on a certain region and halfway between fast food and a more traditional restaurant.

Marsala Zone is known for their thali, a platter of little dishes that makes up an entire meal (minus dessert). The combination of items provides a variety of tastes and textures and is supposed to encompass all the food groups to provide a healthy balanced meal. We decided to get a chicken mangalore grand thali (£12.30), a single order of chilli paneer (£8.10) and some garlic naan (£2.65) to share.

The menu is clear and simple, I was recommended The Grand Thali, which is a starter and main course combined served on a large steel dish with little bowls of curry, rice and yoghurt. The Grand Thali included a choice of curry, two vegetables, dal (lentils) raita (yoghurt), Indian salad, papadum, chutney, chapatti and rice. For around £12, this was a bargain and delicious, I could see why this was a popular place for a taste of India. Each dish tasted different and had a different level of spice, I'm not usually good with spicy food but the yoghurt helped me neutralise the spicy taste. I love getting my hands dirty when I eat and here was no exception. The waiters were also helpful in assisting us with our meal choices. I really enjoyed my meal here and would recommend it to anyone who craves authentic Indian food, Masala Zone is far from what you would get in a takeaway.

Since my trip to London was rather spontaneous, and this is one of the busiest times of the year for me at work, I was not able to dedicate much time to researching the city's culinary scene. (Fish and Chips, anyone?!) Tweets seeking dining advice did not generate much of a response, and googling London food blogs managed to overwhelm me with information. I expressed my complete lack of knowledge on the subject one evening to a friend and he passed along a welcome tip - definitely get Indian food while you're there . Apparently this is a known to-do while in London and in mentioning this to Tricia, she concurred that yes, she had actually heard this as well. And so it was decided, we were going for Indian! But where? Our concierge recommended Masala Zone, with a convenient location close to our hotel.

Covent Garden is full of choices that will spoil you.
Went to Masala Zone which honestly has quite a spooky decor. It has shiny Indian puppets hanging from the ceiling! Although, it makes it quite interesting as well.

Reservation is recommended if you're not really in a mood to wait. Although, the wait is way less as compared to Dishoom.

I tried Dahi Bhalle with masala chai. The Masala chai was too watery but it did have a good taste. The dahi bhalles were pretty satisfying.

The chilli chicken that I tried from my friend's portion was quite good as well. Not too spicy. So, it is recommended even if you're not a spicy food eater!

Happy Eating! :D

I very much liked the concept and traditional theme of convent garden Masala Zone. Good ambience, quick service - the serving assistance do ask you if that should explain about the food ("try asking, it's fun"). Kids are made to feel at home. The traditional dishes are at a nominal price compared to central london costs, go for a Masala Zone Grand Thali if you want to try nibbles of every dish in the house. Overall a very good choice for Curry House in central london.

I visited this restaurant a couple of weeks ago to introduce a Spanish friend to Indian cuisine. We noticed a very very long waiting line once we arrived at this restaurant. Luckily, having made the reservations online an hour before arriving, we were able to jump the queue and were immediately seated. We were provided the menus and placed our orders for the Onion Bhajias, masala chai, a fish thali for me and the Malai Chicken Kebab with Naan for my friend.

The onion bhajias tasted really good especially with the chutney that came with it. I wish however that I had chosen something else other than the thali that day, only because I didn't have space to finish it all! The thali was massive and had lentils, a mixed potato dish, another vegetable dish, fish curry and piece of fish along with chappati (indian bread), pickle, yoghurt and pappad. It did taste amazing though, it tasted like home which made me so happy. My friend enjoyed her dish too, it wasn't spicy at all which she was afraid it would be, seeing as it was Indian food. Our bill was a hefty 50 pounds, it was worth it though. I love the interiors of this restaurant, they have all these pretty Rajasthani dolls hung from the ceiling.

The staff are always pleasant and ready to explain the meals and understand that some people need a warning where something is particularly spicy. We usually enjoy the regular thali, but on occasions with friends have ordered grand thalis. Both sizes have a nice variety of delicious food, and a choice of rice or chappatis. The drinks menu is also varied. We are rather predictable visitors who do not go past the thalis. As a busy single guy living in London, with slight aversion to cooking there is nothing like weekly trip to the good old MZ to remind you of home made food. I just relish their Veg Thali and the Undhio is to die for. I am not joking and have been a MZ regular since August'2011 - having been there upwards of 75 times - and still not bored.

While Covent Garden is full to the brim with those proffering pre-theatre menus, we were reluctant to get bogged down into the 2-course overpriced special and instead opted to pop over to Masala Zone. While a chain establishment, this should by no means put you off.

Each of the restaurants is decorated in a slightly different fashion - and this one has to be my favourite. Dolls from Rajasthan adorn the ceiling and make for a vibrant impact upon entering. We've opted today to order off the Street food menu - and we've picked a medley to share. Samosa chaat, Gol Gappa and Pav Bhaaji.

Samosa chaat is reasonably easy to explain so let's start with that. Samosas stuffed with curries chick peas topped with yoghurt and mint & Tamarind chutney. This was surprisingly spicy even for these Indian tastebuds but very filling and a very adequate meal. Pav Bhaji is a dish that is a particular favourite of mine - it's essentially a potato base with mixed vegetables curry served with toasted buttery buns. Strange it may seem, but this dish is a popular snack and when garnished with lemon and plentiful chopped onion, packs a punch.

I did find this version a little oily for my taste but it was certainly tasty and again more than adequate fora light meal.

Our final dish probably requires a bit of explaining. A friend of mine refers to it as crispy shells with cold mint water and while that description is not flattering, it is fairly accurate. Not to be tried for the faint hearted. It can be referred to as Gol Gappa or Pani Puri and it is my favourite Indian food of all time. Ever.

The shells were a little stale which was disappointing but the liquid (pani) was sublime and I could have just drunk that down on it's own. All of this we washed down with a Mango Lassi and a savoury Lassi. While I'm sure you've heard of Mango Lassis, the savoury one is more of a favourite of mine.

Although for the sake of accuracy, this is not quite a savoury Lassi - it's known as a Chaas (or Chach) and is a bit lighter than a traditional Lassi with less fat and includes salt, cumin seeds, fresh coriander and even a bit of ginger on occasion.
Masala Zone

So there you have it, your very (brief) introduction to Indian street food told through the eyes of a high street chain. A great place to come to experience the taste of some of the best street food around.

Good place for a evening dinner post work, quite refreshing ambience which does liven up your spirits after a long hard day at work!

Food wise, the starters were good enough to try out esp. the chaat options which gives a different taste altogether than anything else.

Have tried both the thaali & gravy items by itself over the past and haven't been dissapointed so far esp. the Chicken Mangalore Curry which was delicious and abs worth it!

Only disappointing part for me was the cold roti's served along with the dishes, didn't expect this tbh and pay £1.5 for each and bit more for the pair. MZ should look to serve much better roti's for ppl not taking their thaali's.

Overall good dine out, is medium £ for 2 with drink and starters should be 40-50 pounds.

Very good place in Central London for good Indian food. It is not your usual North Indian restaurant but pretty breezy big place with quick service. I have been going there for many years and food remains good though earlier they had more of a fusion kind of menu but now it is more traditional. It is generally busy so good idea to book in advance. The ambience is ok nothing very grand though the place is big it is more functional and more a sit down version of a good Haldiram restaurant. We had ordered grand thali pav bhaji and few other starters. All were very tasty and nice felt like eating in India. The price is also not bad and you can manage a hearty meal with soft drinks for under GBP 20 per person. I will be definitely going back - though it is difficult to find of Regent Street.

After few days of struggling to cope with the alien menu at eateries, Masala Zone was an absolute delight!! It is huge and extravagant!! The good thing about Indian food abroad is that they prepare it in their own distinct manner, give it such a unique and awesome taste... It is nothing less than magical! The food here was outstanding. The masala chai was superb, going by the standards of the restaurant. We vegetarians called for our traditional orders and I loved the paneer makkhanwali and the daal makhani. The breads were soft and tickled the taste buds, prompting us to ask for more...

Since Indian cuisine is speciality in London, the prices are really high. But on a macro scale, it is justified, given the crowd it pulls.

One flaw I did find there was the arrogance of the waiters who weren't willing to merge two tables for us. That was really annoying and wasted much of our valuable time. Otherwise, in terms of service et al, the chain scores top points!

The first thing that strikes you about this place is its unique ambiance. You get to dine under a canopy of Rajasthani dolls! During dinner hours the place is usually packed even on weekdays so expect a waiting time of 5-10minutes. Unfortunately there is no bar where you can have a few drinks while waiting to be seated. The chaat items in their starters are absolutely delightful - you can't go wrong with aloo tikki chaat, delhi samosa chaat or the dahi puri. However their non-vegetarian starters don't come anywhere close to the aforementioned chaats. Their recent Punjab festival menu had delectable 'makke ki roti' and 'sarso ka saag'. With such promising start(ers) you would expect the main course to hit the crescendo but in my opinion it doesn't. Though the vegetarian thali seems quite popular among patrons but my mates have had mixed feelings about it. Same goes for non-vegetarian mains that were mediocre at best.
So, if you just gorge on the chaats you'll return back with happy memories.

On first impressions, the staff are very friendly and the set up is very nicely done. The food itself does not have a great variety when compared with other similar places of its kind. However despite this, whatever is available makes up for this. Choose your visit carefully as it can sometimes be a little crowded, unless you like that kind of atmosphere.

What an absolutely fascinating decor, it is quite an experience dinning under a canopy of puppets!

We had gone for a friend's birthday so even though we were about 8 of us, it did not take long to get a table. I had ordered grand thali which was tasty and very reasonably priced. However it was just about too much as we had also ordered the starter and had guilty dipped into too many of them.

Went to Masala Zone for lunch. The service at this food junction is top notch along with exceptionally attentive, certainly aiming to satisfy and gratify! The ambiance is gracious, buzzing with vivacious chatter of happy people relishing great food. Complete value for money! and felt very good after the meal.

On my fortnightly craving of Indian food I stick to a place that knows how to deliver consistently. My earlier visits started with servings of the amazing chicken biryani. Afterwards, I also ventured into the Thali (non-veg) and was never disappointed. The service is always good at any Masala Zone. The portions are respectable, especially considering the portions served by other Indian restaurants for even higher prices. Very highly recommended.

I just been yesterday to Masala zone and it was a very wonderful restaurant, perfect decor, fab food and all desi taste which I was missing in London. The service was quick and very friendly. I am very choosy in regards to food, and always searching for good restaurants. Thanks to Zomato, I found the perfect place in minutes.

Will def. suggest to all my friends and family.

Located in Covent garden, the restaurant is easy to reach from almost every zone I the city centre.
The place offers room to a lot of people, and this makes it unlikely to wait in line for long.

Service is quite fast and dishes are good.

In particular, those who love mango may order a Mango Lassy (a shake with yogurt and fresh mango) to accompany the delicious spicy dishes. This will make it possible for those who can't handle spicy recipes to enjoy them more, as the shake prevents your mouth from burning.

There are also recipes with little/no hot spices, for those who appreciate the taste of curry, cumin and coriander - typically used in the Indian cuisine - but do not love chili.

I had a great meal in Masala Zone a couple of days back. I'm not sure if was because I was starving, or whether the food was generally awesome ! The first thing which strikes you when you enter the restaurant are the puppets hanging from the ceiling all over the restaurant. We had Chicken Biryani and Butter Chicken with Garlic and Butter Naan. All the dishes were really good and the preparation of the naan was quite unique. The quantity of the the main dishes could be more, especially for two hungry stomachs. Please definitely eat here if you are looking for quality Indian food.

Great place with very interesting ambiance. The place is very popular and expect some waiting during weekends.

Simple things to keep in mind while dining here:
1. All starters are very good, such as delhi samosa, dahi puri, paav bhaji. Dare say comparable to actual street food you expect in Delhi !
2. Main course is quite average. We skipped it altogether on subsequent visits.

All in all good place after a binge in nearby pubs.

Away from the hubbub of Covent Garden, in the smaller by lanes next to the Ballet Institute is a grand Masala Zone on the corner. Walking around in the neighbourhood, I was drawn by the intense aromas of Indian food and my face lit up when I discovered this restaurant.

Tired of eating the same butter chicken from a packet, the chicken curry at Masala Zone is simply superb and hits the spot. Their specialty is the array of Indian Street Food (Chaat) on the menu that comes in generous portions and is mouth-watering good. Being a 'chaat' lover, I can eat two of the sampler platters that contains bhel (puffed rice with cut onions and tomatoes with a sweet and tangy chutney), Sev Puri (a Bombay special made with fried biscuits topped with mashed potatoes and chutney) and Dahi Puri (fried yummness topped with chickpeas, spiced yogurt and chutney). It's a party in my mouth!

The decor of Masala Zone (any place you visit) is 'boho-chic' with high ceilings, modern seating and Indian puppets adorning the walls.

At prices that won't burn a hole in your pocket, what more do you want?

Nice and cheap Indian restaurant in London. This is part of a chain of Indian restaurants, therefore the food is not necessarily pricey. Food was good, however you lack the authentic Indian restaurant experience. I would recommend to take the Thali as a main as it gives you different choices of curries and additional original sides.

A Flavorful Feast with Aromatic Touches My dining experience at Masala Zone in Covent Garden was a mix of delightful flavors and a few missed opportunities. The restaurant's ambiance was vibrant and inviting, creating a lively atmosphere. The staff was attentive, making sure our dining needs were met. The food was undoubtedly the highlight of the evening; each dish was a burst of authentic Indian flavors, expertly prepared and presented. The menu showcased a diverse range of dishes that catered to various tastes, from mildly spiced to intensely flavorful options. However, I noted a few areas that could be improved upon. Firstly, the absence of background music created an unusual noise of the crowd, diminishing the overall ambiance. Music could enhance the dining experience, adding to the vibrant atmosphere the restaurant aims to create. Additionally, the lack of traditional Indian mouth fresheners and hot tissues after the meal misses an opportunity to enhance authenticity and post-meal comfort.

From the outside it reminded me of a doll house, however, once inside and you smell the different aromas and you see the staff busy with serving food. If you were not hungry before entering you'll certainly be when your sense gets intrigued . My friend ordered for both of us and they were delicious and full of flavour, however, his only comment was that the cheese nan was to cheesy. I say it was perfect! The only thing is that I think the table was to close to each other, it felt that you were at dinner party for 8 people rather than two.

As a walk-in family of 4 we were given a high table as all normal height tables were booked. This was not really a problem, the atmosphere, decor and vibe was amazing. The food came promptly, the poppadoms were so tasty even without any pickles on. My wife's chicken casserole had a slightly strange aftertaste that wasn't to our liking. My daughters butter chicken although delicious was too spicy for her but some yoghurt calmed it down. My lamb stew was truly outstanding as a flavourful experience, my only gripe was too bits of fat and grisle but the lamb that was there so truly melt in your mouth stuff. I would 100% return but make some requests when ordering next time. The staff, and there were lots of them, were attentive and efficient. All in all a very pleasant experience.

Amazing food! Loved the vibe and food. Tad bit on the pricey side, therefore can't enjoy it as much as one would like to, but that being said, the food was lovely. The cocktails are great, each with its own unique twist. The decor is lovely too, (although a tad heavy on the puppets) would love to see some traditional Indian musical instruments. Staff were helpful too, and catered to my needs. Will definitely be going back!

Excellent restaurant with a good menu for adults. Many vegan and vegetarian dishes. Children's menu was limited and most items on it were sold out. Only disappointment was you could not ask for a dish to be made spicier, however they did give some chopped chilies on the side.

I cannot score or recommend this restaurant highly enough! We arrived after leaving a nearby restaurant in a rather disgruntled state following a poor experience. From the moment we stepped in (without reservation) we were treated to fabulous hospitality. Staff were attentive, caring, patient and charming. The food and drinks were unlike any Indian restaurant we have ever experienced! Everything was cooked to perfection, using fresh herbs and spices, making every dish taste authentic and exceptional. As a person who does really like dessert, both of us found the desserts amazing - the ginger Ice Cream was sublime! We took our time and at no time felt rushed. Just about every member of the management team came by to check on us at some point, which made us feel super special. Loved the experience and will definitely be back soon. Thank you.

I had chicken butter, lamb rogan josh, plain rice and garlic nan bread. Chicken butter was silky, sweet and full of flavour, whereas rogan josh was simply tasteless, received no flavour at all. Rice was fine, but nan could have been cooked a bit more. The service and atmosphere were good though, otherwise food deserves 3 or 3,5 stars.

The service was really great, the waiters were helpful and polite. The food was good, however I would have preferred more spices in the biryanni. There is a great variety in the menu. A bit expensive, but the portions are quite big. Overall a nice experience, and would probably go again.

An authentic Indian restaurant near the Covent Garden underground. The place is carefully designed and the atmosphere is pleasant. The dishes are delicious, varied and have strong flavors as expected. The service is professional and courteous. A wonderful experience...
