Babaji’s Afyon pide is as delicious as which I ate in Istanbul. I recommend this place for all Turkish who is missing to eat a real pide and of course I recommend it for everyone who want to taste a real pide. Try it, you’ll like.
Londrada bu kadar guzel mercimek corbasi icecegimi dusunmemistim.Mutlaka gidilmesi gereken bir yer.Agirlikla 90lar Turk pop calmasi ve yemekleriyle kalbimi fethettiler.Aksam yemegi icin erken gidilmeli zira muthis sira oluyor
Its a really good place to have Turkish food and the location is perfect. I had pide and it was really delicious. If you like or really want to try Turkish coffee, you can try it in Babaji with a great presentation.
Babaji Pide is a Turkish restaurant right by China Town and Queens Theatre at Shaftesury Avenue. The restaurant has always appealed me whenever I walk past the area. I remember being captivated by the Turkish tile tables that were lined outside the restaurant during summer. Then I peeked into the restaurant and thought there was this chic yet elegant touch of it that I find compelling.
Mekan lezzetiyle ve fiyat performansi acisindan gayet iyi bir yer. Personel sicak cana yakin bir tavir sergiliyor. Buraya arkadaslarinizla birlikte gelebilirizsiniz. Uzaklarda sizi temzil edebilecek bir yer. Basarilar dilerim.
Well Turkish food is a true delight.
Pide Patates were delicious to the core, would have loved to try Temel Reis as well
They say pide is Turkish pizza, i would say it is more of a calzone , totally worth a try
Hummus was one of the best i had in London
Breads were a bit let down
Staff on the ground floor was courteous enough to direct us towards first floor of the restaurant as the ground floor was occupied. The server of that floor was least interested. She poured water also as if she did a favour.
Service and hospitality can definitely be worked upon here
Loved the food, loved the ambiance and loved the service. Food was served fast and tasted delicious, ambiance was refreshing and the service was great. Simple menu, you dont get confused, yet enough choice. My wife, 2 kids and me almost wanted to go back when we were at the entrance, because it was crowded and because of the 2 baby strollers, the personnel insisted on staying and carried the baby stroller upstairs to the first floor. Before we got to Babaji we walked like 6 or 7 miles and finally when we found a place like that in the heart of London we became pleasantly surprised. Will repeat will recommend, cheers !

I have heard wonders about this place and finally made it here. I tried Temel remis (?) Pide and the oven baked halloumi. Both were delicious. I wish there was a filling vegetarian alternative to the grills.
One of the best restaurants with the best manager. Our food was late and the manager gave us free pizza and hummus. Plus, our food was for free. The food was delicious and amazing. Good service, and good food. Definitely coming again.

Very nice balanced dishes. And so the price for London City centre. I'll come back, for sure. Order hummus and a fresh bread basket for starter.

Just loved the food.
I think if you're an Indian, you'll find Turkish idea of taste completely at home.
The first hummus that I liked, plus the Pide (pizza) was great too.
Must try Lamb Kofte.
Went again for dinner, and loved the whole cutlery and experince too.
Price might be a bit on the high side.
Yet to find any pushy behavior from the staff as noted by some, so far so good
This a small place with very pushy staff. Don't prepare to linger and have a nice long meal, you will have dishes removed from your table and waiters repeatedly asking if you want anything else. Had the goats cheese and courgette pide. Could have done with more topping than dough, but overall it was pleasant. The decor is fantastic, but wouldn't hurry back.
I always think a good review is one where you forgot to take pics of the food. You were just enjoying the experience too much. Guilty. But I have no guilt in taking some friends, colleagues and clients here for dinner. The staff were incredibly helpful to balance the selection across a group of five and the food was equal to the freshness and quality of Turkey itself. Highlight options go to the spicy sausage pide, any of the meze and the desert with the shredded pastry and cheese (see - I told you I wasn't paying enough attention to the review!). You can face a wait here sometimes, but it is so worth it ince you get a table.
‘Istanbul Pide Salanu’ is etched in inviting gold lettering across the front of Babaji, and being a fan of Turkish food and especially the city of Istanbul itself I had to give it a try. This addition to Alan Yau’s food empire is low-key and modest in it's décor, unlike his other ventures such as Hakkasan and Yauatcha. The entrance has a huge pizza oven which spreads across the ground floor with a few tables dotted around it offering a perfect view of the furnace. There is also seating a larger seating space on the first floor, however be warned, the windows don’t open here and as heat rises it can get very warm!
In terms of food, I was more than impressed because it was very vegetarian friendly. I ordered Samphire cooked with garlic, red pepper and sun blushed tomato with Pide Patates, which were both delicious. the pide was warm, moist and slightly chewy; while samphire was fresh and crunchy. The fresh waterlemon juice complemented the food perfectly. My friend had the Lamb Kofte which looked and smelt fantastic. This is a perfect meeting place for a night out in the west end, with its central location in soho, light menu and moderate price point. Needless to say that we will definitely be coming back here for more Pide and Mezze for sure…
Good quality traditional Turkish food. Taste was great, service was good and overall I had a great experience. You should order a couple of different Pides to share in order to get the most out of your experience.
Babaji is Alan Yau's latest venture, a Turkish pizza place on Shaftesbury Ave, spitting distance from Les Mis. Turning up on a Sunday afternoon we were faced with a queue (they don't take bookings) which had me very close to hopping over the road to grab a Chinese instead - I don't have any patience for queuing at restaurants. However a very sweet and smiley waiter came and promised us it was only 15 minutes and there was a large, powerful heater on the wall so let's give it a chance. On being seated and going over the menu, it looked great - divided into Pide (Turkish pizza), grill and meze, we went for one pide and 4 meze dishes, changing a couple of times when the first 3 things we asked for weren't available - no mention of this when being given the menus. Karides guvec was a dish of baked prawns with peppers, tomatoes and cheese, very good. I love borek, and this one was short on filling but the filo was crispy and perfectly browned. The samphire was unexpectedly cold, but lemony and salty and went well with the other dishes. Our third choice of pide was the Afyon - beef sucuk with kasar cheese, which was a mildly spicy beef sausage - somewhere between salami and a frankfurter, with a generous amount of cheese. Freshly baked in the huge oven, the pides are delicious. Small issues include no sign of toilet roll in any of the cubicles, half the menu missing as mentioned and the first 20 minutes of our meal was accompanied by a medley of howling children - last one not their fault but it ruins the atmosphere somewhat. All in all, lovely food, sweet staff, great location and just a couple of things that I'm sure they'll sort out. Would go back.
Decent, without being great. Had better at various Mangal type Turkish joints around the capital. Nice waiter accommodated us (party of 8) about 20mins before closing.
Probably best Turkish in UK and Turkey. Attention is in the detail. Fresh ingredients which taste fresh. Meat is fine cuts. The pide is nothing like what I have tasted before. Not all meats are halal. Good value.
Enjoyed authentic, high-quality Turkish food in a fantastic atmosphere.
Our waitress, Barf, was excellent, providing top-notch customer service during our brunch. Highly recommend for the great service and food.
Great choice for high quality breakfast or brunch.
Service is excellent and very attending.
The outside area is always warm at there are blankets and cushions extra.
Food is absolutely delicious.
Everything is carefully prepared and presented.
It's an ideal place to enjoy your brunch with your partner.
I would suggest to make a reservation or go a bit earlier than 11:00 as it get very busy at midday.
Highly recommended 👌
Probably one of the handful of places I would wait in a que for. Located in the heart of James street, Yamabahce has a lot of footfall and consequently has long waits. We generally travel from North London, specifically for Yamabahce, so thats extra time spent. However, every minute is worth is, the waiters and waitresses are generally very friendly, the service is efficient and that makes it up to me. ‘Kusbasi Pide’ and ‘the tandir’ are our favourite dishes on the carefully tailored menu. I love their Cortado’s too. Give it a try!
Best baklava in London guaranteed👌🏼
All dishes that we tried were great to be honest you can notice that what they serve is Good quality 👏🏽 I came for breakfast and lunch I enjoy it all the time.
Quite a busy and popular place. We have to get attention to ask to be seated. The waiter pointed us to a table while the manager was telling us to get back in line, we explained that the waiter asked us to sit here. Seemed like he was anniyed with the staff. After hanging around for a bit, he gave us another table and wouldn't let us have the one we were allocated originally. Normally I wouldn't mind where we sat but I had a friend on crutches with me and we needed confy seats for her. I was surprised there was no emphathy for a women on crutches and he actually asked us to get back into line which meant my friend had to walk around to the other side of the restaurant. Once we were seated we were attended to swiftly. The food was very nice. Highly recommend the tomato salad.
My favorite Turkish restaurant in London, lahmacun is the best it’s Turkish flatbread filled with minced meat with vegetables and Turkish spices it just tastes brilliant🥹🥹🫶🏻
Even the prices are suitable.
A little wait up sit down. Had to call staff over to order.
Fresh juice was in a tiny glass - definitely not value for the price. So I wouldn't recommend.
Food was good. Menu was limited at they didn't have a few things we wanted. We got a large selection l. Kofta, chicken, hummus, fries, lentil soup and salad. Chicken was definitely the best thing we ordered.
Desert was good and the staff waited for us to finish before it was served despite it being near closing.
Excellent! The service was extremely friendly. The food was delicious. Th ere was a large variety of Turkish options for brunch and lunch. The food was prepared quickly.
Great restaurant serving delicious authentic Turkish food. Enjoyed sitting in its outdoor area.
Food was really good
We had:
Menemen: it was great well balanced and tasty.
Kaymak & honey: it had a very smooth texture that tasted heavenly.
Cacik: which is yogurt, I recommend having it with bread.
Cheese pide: it had the original taste which was great.
Turkish tea: great after a nice meal.
Baklava: it was nice
Had some very tasty take-away dishes from this place. The aubergine-stuffed bread was definitely a highlight. The smile pile of rocket that came with it was fresh and healthy-tasting. The plain bread was also good and dipped really well with the hummus and tzatziki. Got to try a little bit of the spicy pepper salad before the family finished it. Overall I was quite happy and certainly look forward to getting food from here again. Recommended.
The place is really good and food is authentic and very delicious. Prices are average for London and they offer variety of dishes. Staff are available and kind and they provide halal meat and vegetarian dishes. The place is bit crowded but you get a seat and enjoy the street and the food.
Great place for a quick lunch. Good food and price/quality OK
