The place look glamorous. Silver and black three floor space with very attractive servers. Argentinian cuisine they claim with meat displayer at you table. Starters were normal and the steaks were also normal good. The rocket salad wasn't epic nor was the skinny chips. Oh, our table kept moving ( unbalanced) so watch out for that.
Overprice normal 'Argentinian' steak restaurant.
My dear friend Kaz and I love brunch. We are both firm believers in breakfast being the most important and the most fabulous meal of the day (Team Ron Swanson on that). When you nudge it to a later time on the weekend, and add cocktails? Our enthusiasm simply increases. We've been meaning to try the Electro Brunch at Gaucho for a while. I love brunches with lots of options, and the all-inclusive price is always great if like me you want to try it all! We decided to go to the Gaucho at Smithfield, and booked a table for noon. A solid lie-in before a brunch makes it all the sweeter....
Gaucho is highly renown for its unrivaled argentinian steaks on offer. To be fair, if you are a beef lover, this place cannot disappoint you. The meat (in particular the Ancho cut) is absolutely sublime and quite literally melts in your mouth. The sides at Gauchos are also very respectable, although veggies did come a little cold last time i visited the place. The service is excellent from what i recall and extremely professional. To be fair, one may say you expect this for the price you are paying your meat. This brings me on to the negatives of Gaucho from my point of view. I would say the decor is far too dark and mysterious. I agree that this was nice when Gaucho first came about but it has now reached a stage where it should freshen up its look and maybe go lighter (?). Secondly, the meat is good but also very expensive for the normal man. Thirdly, eating argentinian steak is terrible for the environmental conscience and hits me everytime i eat there. Overall though, great place and luxury food.
My advice: Don't hesitate one second if your looking for great steak. Gaucho is the place.
Enjoy!
If you love your steak and your beef, then Gaucho is what you've been looking for!
As soon as you are seated, a waiter will approach you with a large platter with 5 different types of meat for you to choose from: You have el bife de chorizo, bife de ancho, bife de lomo, and tira de asado, and the chorizo marinated in chimmichurri sauce.... their cuts are 100% Argentine, approx 350g, and 100% beef... which is increasingly hard to come by in the UK.
So I would suggest coming to Gaucho at least 5 times to try every cut!
The choice of Malbec wine is stunning, and probably the best in London.
Tried this chain steakhouse for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. The food is really tasty with high quality steaks. Service was incredible! I loved our server and the attention to detail with the manager coming over to wipe the table between courses was really appreciated.
The empanadas were a fantastic way to start our meal. We followed that with steak. I had mine with the onions and chimichurri sauce. My dining companion had theirs with the truffle butter. You really can't go wrong either way. We had both the cookie for dessert as well as the cheesecake. Both are scrumptious!
We were celebrating our anniversary and they brought out some complimentary truffles
Went here with a work group with short notice, they were very accommodating and excellent service throughout. The set menu (3 courses) was good value for money considering the portion size and quality, a superbly cooked steak.
I went to Gaucho for my birthday and it was perfect. The staff made me feel so welcome and special. The steak was beautiful, so mouthwatering and full of flavour. The servers were so kind and helpful. They knew everything about the menu and what’s best for you. So a big thank you to everyone there who made my birthday so special: Mario, Arturo, Jennifer and Vesselin.
Couldn’t ask for anything better. :)
Delicious lunch! Best steak I've ever had!! The sea bream my partner had was gorgeous as were the side dishes and starters. Fantastic service in a very relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommend.
We went here as a small group on a Saturday night. I have been to this location before when it has been quite lively, on this occasion it was dead. Service from beginning to end was exceptional. We used a “Red Letter Days” voucher where we got a glass of prosecco, a starter, a main and a dessert. The burrata and tomatoes was creamy and full of flavour. The prawn ceviche was refreshing, really liked the addition of the mango. The beef tartar was okay, but nothing special. We also ordered the chorizo sharing kebab and it is consistently my favourite starter on the menu. We had the sirloin and rib eye steaks and they were both amazing, although I have had better chimichurri sauce. For dessert we had the brownie and the dulce de leche cheesecake. The brownie of sticky and just not very flavourful, but the vegan ice cream was surprisingly nice. The dulce de leche cheesecake was creamy, and cheesy and definitely a standout.
Gaucho seems to be quite consistent with reliable food and service. Will go again, although perhaps to another location to have a bit of an atmosphere.
Gaucho Smithfield -part of the steakhouse chain with twelve locations in London - delivers on the food, atmosphere and service department. This location comes with a few twists including a bar area and a full size pool table. Prior the taking the food orders the staff will bring over a board with cuts of meat - a standard practice at every Gaucho. The menu provides good choices although the largest piece of meat is only 500 grams. The drinks menu is equally varied with a combination of wine, cocktails and mocktails. The steak ordered was perfectly cooked. Highly recommend the chimichuri sauce. The dulce de leche cheesecake was creamy and not too sweet. The only disappointment was the miniscule portions in the cheese platter. Without a doubt the worst value for money I have experienced in a long time - £10 for a platter with three thin slices of cheese. The service was cordial, friendly and chatty from start to end. Highly recommended (just avoid the cheese platter).
Incredible steaks - the restaurant was empty when we ordered, but the food still took a good while before it was ready - worth the wait though! Staff was also very friendly.
First time to Gaucho Smithfield for my friend's birthday. It was a great experience. The ambiance is very welcoming and charming. Amazing wines, food and service. Menu is extensive and seasonal to a particularly high standard. Definitely fine dining! I would like to praise Veselin and Mario who made us feel welcomed and gave us an amazing experience. Veselin was extremely knowledgeable and make great recommendations. Love this place and will continue to visit.Highly recommended.
Our first time eating here and it was for the most part fantastic. There was an obvious mix up in the staffing because the service was extremely slow, however, the staff made up for it in every possible way by ensuring we were kept busy with starters and drinks. Once the steaks came out, they were absolutely wonderful, cooked to perfection, and the flavor was exquisite. To top it all off, they brought out a surprise dessert for our anniversary. We will definitely be going back here, highly recommended!
For starters I had the sausage platter which was very nice. It has different sausages and the sauces were excellent. For mains we had the steak platter which gives you a taster for different types of cuts and one platter can easily be shared with three people. For sides I’d recommend fried eggs, spinach and bone marrow. Overall I prefer this Gaucho over any other in London as it’s never too packed and it also has a nice bar and pool table. The service was excellent and fast.
