Although, I am not a huge fan of Mexican food. I have been to Wahaca a few times as my husband loves the food. We have been to several Wahaca outlets but majority of the times we have been to the Westfield Shepherds Bush one. The food is good and the ambience is good as well. The horchata here is a favourite of mine.
Suggested: Tacos with steak+cheese and British steak, the Mexican way was very delicious. Habanero chili sauce was great, has a fruity taste with hidden heat.
After hitting the shops in Westfields, my friend and I went to this restaurant for dinner. We were in the mood for tacos and luckily Wahaca has the Taco Tuesdays promo, allowing us to get a taco dish each for a mere £1. It was an amazing deal. I have been to this place a number of times but I don't recall enjoying such a deal before.
The place was busy when we arrived. Waiting time was not so bad though. It took us only about 10 minutes to get seated and we got an outdoors table as we requested. The outlet was spacious and had a street feel to it. The use of wooden elements, metal chains and vibrant colours gave it a Mexican-inspired theme. Everything was tastefully pieced together to give a cohesive and polished overall look. The place exuded a lively vibe that was matched by the energy of its crew.
Service was excellent. The staffs were friendly and engaging. The one who served us carefully explained the concept of the restaurant and the menu to us, gave us some tips and reiterated the ongoing promo. She gave us space to make our selections but was quick to approach when we were ready with our orders. I appreciated that she stopped us when we were ordering too much. I don't always get that kind of honestly from staffs. She also engaged in little banters which I thought was nice.
Our orders were served fast. We had guacamole and chips, sweet potato and feta taquito, Devon crab tostada and four different tacos - plantain, buttermilk chicken, pork pibil and British steak. Every dish was mouthwatering. I enjoyed the tacos the most. The pork pibil was tasty with spicy finish, the steak was soft and juicy, the buttermilk chicken was tender with a light crunch and complemented well by the tomato salsa and the plantain was delicious with its lightly sweet flavour. There was so much food and we were able to finish all.
Wahaca was able to maintain the consistency of the taste and quality of its dishes and the high standards of its service. I always enjoyed my visits to this restaurant. It is one great place and its longevity can attest to this.
This wahaca in Westfield is a nice choice amongst several options around. We went on a Tuesday for a friend's birthday dinner and were pleased with the ambience, music which peps up your mood as well as allows you to have a conversation. They have a choice of cocktails and surprising flavours. Tamarind martini, hibiscus martini to give you an idea. I found them quite refreshing. Food was average Mexican dishes, although do check out their Tuesday offer which works well. Full marks for service, we were very well taken care, given good recommendations and also the kids were happy with their food.
The first thing that stood out was the Mexican music and ambiance. The staff was helpful and explained properly about the food. The food was good too and well worth the money.
The food was absolutely delicious! The plates were small which I liked because you can sample a variety of dishes, the chicken quesadillas were my favourite.
After my experience at the Southbank branch, I was a bit wary when a dear friend proposed a catch up at the White City one. I'm quite happy to report that in here the staff is amazing, the portions satisfying and the whole vibe fantastic. We shared six small dishes, among my favourites there are the marinated chicken, the steak and the salmon sashimi, and have been stuffed to the brim! And their orchata was a perfect compliment to all the delicious, flavourful and exciting foods and I'm going back to try more things from their menu. An absolutely perfect spot for a meal out with friends.
I've been to Wahaca a few times before whenever I've visited London and I have always appreciated the food on offer.
I wasn't disappointed this latest time either. I got the pork tacos & pork burrito which was super juicy, tasty and the burrito was massive.
My veg co diners were not impressed with the meal and we're quite unhappy.
I would definitely recommend Wahaca for good Mexican food in a relaxed environment.
Nice friendly staff too.
The management team at wahaca are a savvy lot. This Mexiacan street food chain, winner of a Time Out 'Best Cheap Eats' category has its finger on the pulse when it comes to marketing and social media. The chain is expanding rapidly and all the latest news, recipes and relevant articles are on the tables in the form of a small magazine for you to peruse whilst tucking into very handsome looking small plates.
The vision is clear at Wahaca. Food is visually important and the crockery is very modern and elegant indeed. Prices are competitive and you can either choose from a wide range of small or larger plates, along with some interesting sounding sides.
I've never been to Mexico and I know very little about its traditional cuisine. The only alarming fact I recently learned is a sad reflection on the nation's diet - they are now more obese than Americans. Shocking stuff indeed.
Anyway, the closest I've been to eating authentic Mexican food is at Taqueria on Westbourne grove, a lovely place to enjoy tacos with traditional fillings served on their own soft corn tortillas, all washed down with a mean Margarita.
Looking at the menu I couldn't help thinking that some of the dishes were distinctly 'unmexican'. My companion fancied one such dish, the chicken and parmesan, served with a Caesar dressing on some shredded coz lettuce. Also ordered were the slow cooked pork, the steak with grilled cheese and salsa, the marinated chicken with a fresh, tomato salsa, a spicy slaw and a carafe of the house white.
The outstanding winner was the pork. Beautifully cooked, flavoursome and just a delightful mouthful. Incidentally, if you wish to spice up your food, there are two types of chili sauce on the tables so you can help yourself. The steak was tender, the chicken parmesan was, well, just a tasty Caesar salad and the slaw, although it had a very nice, crunchy texture to it, lacked flavour. I couldn't detect any chipotle dressing at all.
The wine was perfectly quaffable and the service prompt and very professional. I clapped eyes on the chocolate cake with peanut butter ice cream and it was a lovely pairing indeed. Soft, light and not too sweet, the cake was gorgeous and the peanut butter ice cream sublime.
When the bill came, there were some chili seeds to take away with us - nice touch.
As chains go, this is a goodun, as it were. Four small plates, a side, dessert, wine and a very strong espresso came to just under forty quid, excluding service. No wonder they're expanding.
Good Mexican food...for England.. My husband really likes Mexican food, so when we found Wahaca it was a pleasant surprise. Food was delicious.
Great Mexican food , friendly waiters and very helpfull too!!. Great margaritas!!
Wahaca I was one of the 30 lucky Qypers, mostly food bloggers, who were invited to taste Wahaca's new autumn menu at their Westfield branch. Having experienced some disastrous meals at other Mexican restaurants in London, I had steered clear of this cuisi
Most Americans in London feel they are on personal quest to find good Mexican in the UK. Get a bunch of us in a room together and we’ll inevitably start talking about the burritos here or the enchiladas there – but the consensus is pretty much always that
What am I doing? Why am I willingly traveling to a mall? Why am I willingly traveling to a mall to eat “Mexican” food in London? Why I am willingly planning to eat “Mexican” in London? There are a lot of fantastic things to eat in London. Cuisines from al
I went here on Saturday. The waiter Andre was lovely. It was my first time dining at a Mexican place.
I ordered the hibiscus flower drink was lovely and sweet. It had a slight tart twist from the lime. As the meat dishes were not an option for me, I opted for the plantain tacos - 3 mini soft tacos with plantain, mashed beans aka frijole, chipotle sauce which had a real kick and sprinkled with feta. This was really nice and the chipotle sauce added a contrast to the sweet soft plantain. This is best enjoyed eaten with the hands!
My dining partner had the citrus fizz and sweet potato taquito which are 2 deep fried crispy shell tacos. This was sweet and creamy.
For dessert, naturally we chose the churros. 3 small light churros with sugar cinnamon on top served with a small pot of warm dark chocolate sauce. These were light and it was definitely a good choice to get one each rather than share! Down side is the flavour of the cinammon didn't come through and the size was just a little too small.
Six of us dropped in on a Saturday night, and although we had to wait an hour for a table, it was worth.
Whilst waiting, we enjoyed cocktails down stairs, and a glance at the menu.
We were seated and an order was taken fairly swiftly, with fresh food brought to our table so much quicker than expected. Food on offer was great too.
Tasty, easy to eat, and we had about 20 or so of their mini dishes to share. Total bill, minus the drinks, came to just under £80. Absolute bargain.
This mexican grill is a fun nice place to have a meal at westfield . The food offered isn't great enough to recommend people to go out of their way to try this place . If you happen to go here , I would suggest anyone to try the black bean tostadas, which is filling and worth the price . Another thing that I like here is the quesadilla (chipotle chicken) , which is great for someone who likes tangy flavors .
Moderately priced and moderate service .
Booked an office Xmas party here and my colleagues and I had an amazing time. The food was SO GOOD. Lots of platters to share for both veggies and meat eaters, we couldn't even finish it all. And the service was excellent, everyone was helpful and friendly. It was way better than a boring, typical Christmas meal, will definitely be going again!
