Old favourite of mine off Carnaby Street which serves great tapas in this corner bar with outside seating. It can be very busy, but when you get your spot, you have some tasty dishes to choose from, all good value for money. Jamon hang over the bar and ordering a platter of different Spanish cheeses and meats are definitely the way to go. I had pimento padron, pork belly with cannelloni beans and a rich cheese covered in honey which I do not recall the name of. Could have missed the cheese as it was all quote filling for small portions. It was great to return and be reminded of how good Spanish tapas can be. This place has stood the test of time, I hope it still there when I next return to the area.

Once again, the Salt Yard Group (the company behind Opera Tavern, Salt Yard and Ember Yard) has brought great pleasure to my taste buds with my recent visit to Dehesa, their fourth sister restaurant. I had high expectations coming to Dehesa because having had very positive experiences at the other sister restaurants, I had no reason to doubt that the dishes I tried here would be any less amazing. Luckily, my optimism was rewarded with a remarkable dining experience.

Tapas like I'd never had before in London! From the courgette flowers to the pork belly (which I usually don't like!) everything was delightful in a very familiar and comforting way. I could honestly sit in this restaurant for hours with friends, a glass of wine and this amazing food...

What do you associate with port? Perhaps Christmas? Or as an accompaniment with cheese and biscuits at the end of a meal? Admittedly, I hadn’t really tried it beyond these parameters, so when I was invited to a port and food pairing evening with Graham’s, I couldn’t wait to learn more. W & J Graham’s was founded in Porto in 1820 and was one of the first port companies to invest in its own vineyards in Portugal’s Douro Valley. Today, five Symington cousins share responsibility for every aspect of the company and personally make the Graham’s wines.

I'm a fan of the Salt Yard Group and their umbrella of restaurants because all their ventures are reliable for good food. . Although my favourite is Ember Yard, Dehesa holds a soft spot for me as it has been a go-to for me and my friends post-shopping along Carnaby/Regent/Oxford Street. Truth be told, I rarely shop myself but girl friends like taking me shopping with them because I am rather more patient than their boyfriends. Just give me a smartphone and a chair to sit on and I'll indulge you. I won't be shy to say "That makes your ass look ginormous!" or "Your boobs look perky in those."

I'm a fan of the Salt Yard Group and their umbrella of restaurants because all their ventures are reliable for good food.

Although my favourite is Ember Yard, Dehesa holds a soft spot for me as it has been a go-to for me and my friends post-shopping along Carnaby/Regent/Oxford Street. Truth be told, I rarely shop myself but my friends like taking me shopping with them because I am rather more patient than any boyfriend you'll ever have when it comes to things like this. Just give me a smartphone and a chair to sit on.

You can't go to a Salt Yard Group restaurant without ordering their signature courgette flower stuffed with goat cheese (£4.5) Drizzled with honey, it's the best of its kind in town (and I can't tell you how many stuffed courgette flowers I've eaten to find the one). Non-greasy, firm, and bursting with delicious tartness, it's great.

I really like the chargrilled Cornish hake with poached artichokes and Vin Santo & broad bean salsa (£8). The fish is cooked nicely and everything else had a great balance of flavour. I could have three servings of it. It's a must order for fish lovers.

A steady winner comes in the form of a piece of confit old spot pork belly (£9). The meat is tender and juicy and that crackling is one to square forks for. The side of rosemary scented cannellini beans complements the meat fantastically. It's a dish that is so comforting and perfect for all seasons.

For the beef lovers, they've got a grilled Basque onglet (£9) served with sprouting broccoli, radish salad and a mushroom jus (£9). The dish is what all your protein-laden dreams are made of. The onglet is served rare to medium rare and the jus lets the beef flavour shine.

We tried the Cornish crab & coriander brik with fennel, watercress, chilli and radish (£8.5). I like the fact that it had a heap load of actual crab meat, but there was some sort of Mediterranean spice that did not sit too well on my palate. It wasn't my favourite as it tasted rather salty.

For pudding, try the chocolate, almond & olive oil cake (£6.5) served with chilli peaches. The cake is surprisingly moist, light and not too rich. I'm not sure what the chilli peaches were there for (perhaps to add a bit of acidity?) but they weren't too hot and I wasn't too keen.

Rounding off a pretty satisfying meal, my favourite affogato with Moscatel raisin and Pedro Ximénez ice cream (£4.5). One of the best light desserts I've had in town, I always opt for this in Dehesa.

Overall, Dehesa is another reliable great restaurant from the Salt Yard Group and if you're around the area looking for a decent place to refuel after a day of shopping, avoid all tourist traps and head down there - you won't regret it (but go with a warning: you might just love the food so much and won't be able to fit in those new pair of jeans...)

Carnaby street is a huge shopping destination so I often forget about all the lovely little bars and restaurants in the area. Dehesa is one of those places, a lovely little tapas bar at the corner of Ganton Street, great for a glass of wine after shopping or work.

You can also select a few tapas dishes to share between your group or if you are quite hungry you can pick the set menu and sample lots of different flavours. I particularly enjoyed the chorizo, the trout and the aubergine as well as the deserts that were all great!

If you would like to book the place for a professional occasion you should consider the downstairs dining room that fits about 15 people. We booked it for a company dinner and were all very satisfied with it. The staff were all very attentive and were always trying to make sure everything was ok, while topping up our water and wine.

In general everyone had a lovely time, enjoyed the food and drinks and we were also able to have a great discussion without the music being overpowering. I would definitely recommend the place and will have it in mind for future events in the area.

It's all about the Padrón Peppers. When I was still a wee little food student, Providores chef Peter Gordon came in and gave the class a fantastic demonstration…We'd always ask the guest chefs, "what's your favourite restaurant in London", and in Peter's case, it was Dehesa.

The British summertime beguiled us, so we sat at a pavement table catching up on life outside school. Bread had literally just been placed on the table when the heavens opened monsoon-style, leaving us cowering under the awning with our boquerones on our knees. They took pity on us and offered a table in the private dining room. Phew, no soggy cheese board.

Inside, Dehesa is a smallish dining room which feels cosy and intimate even on a summer's evening. Dark wood tables and sparkling glassware reminded me a little of Brindisa-styling (http://www.tapasbrindisa.com), but then they are delivering a similar product.

A mix of Italian and Spanish influences create a tapas menu constructed around charcuterie and cheese plates from both countries. But outside of that there were meat, fish and vegetable tapas, all of which I wanted to try in spite of any belly and pocket limitations! I mean, 'steamed mussels with cider, jamon and broad beans', 'roast duck breast with pardina lentils and mustard fruits', or 'confit Old Spot pork belly with rosemary scented cannellini beans'..? Yes please.

We stuck to Dehesa's staples, with the plates of meat and cheese delivering everything they were supposed to. But it was the understated 'buffalo mozzarella with olive tapenade and crostini' which surprisingly blew us away (poor mozzarella so often tasting of nothing at all). These tiny balls of cheese, topped with the salty tapenade had such a creamy texture and delicately-scented flavour they made your eyes close in an attempt to taste even more.

Then the padrón peppers came out (and later a second plate as we'd fought over the first).

Little Spanish peppers simply fried in oil then loaded with sea salt - you play a small game of Russian roulette as you never quite know how hot each one is going to be. One will be sweet with a mild kick, the next may have you casting around for bread, yoghurt or downing your wine in an attempt to dampen the heat. Both are really very nice. To try these at home you'll probably need to buy the peppers online as they are very hard to find in the shops. I tracked them down at South Devon Chilli Farm: http://www.southdevonchillifarm.co.uk/shop/index.php?target=products&product_id=22

Back to Dehesa:

Service 7 / 10
Food 9 / 10
Value for money 7 / 10 … around £40 a head including wine, lots of tapas, a dessert with vin santo and of course extra peppers.

Chances of going back? High!

Fantastic. I loved this place. Exceptional quality tapas. Cured meats hang in the front area near the kitchen so you can see just how fresh and quality the meat is.

Some of the best tapas I've had this side of Spain definitely a cut above chains such as La Tasca.

The Orecchiette with Asparagus, Wild Garlic, Butter Sauce and Black Truffles were probably my boyfriend`s favourite. He actually had the same dish a few nights before at another restaurant and found the flavour of the truffles too strong, but this one had a very subtle and nice flavour.

my favourite of the night was the stone bass carpaccio which was wafer thin slices of a mild white fish elevated with citrus notes. my trepidation of the red onion was unfounded as the very finely sliced tropea onion had little sting. instead it provided texture. a sprightly garnish of red amaranth leaves were a strong element of colour.

How Dehesa has, until now, completely missed my radar I'm not sure as it is so completely and utterly 'me'. Apart from anything else, it's been there FIVE years for goodness sake. I've been to sister restaurant Opera Tavern and loved it, I adore Spanish tapas and its not exactly rare that I'm out and about around Soho so this counts as a major oversight. Anyway, feeble excuses aside, it was brand new to me. I woke up on my birthday knowing that if only one thing were to happen that day (other than getting another year older) then it had to be that I would eat croquetas . There is just something about that crispy breaded outer being the last bastion standing between me and a hot, oozy centre that gets me all of a tizz every time. Cue Google quest for decent Spanish tapas around the Oxford Circus area.  It ended up being a toss up between Dehesa and Copito so if anyone's been to Copito and had a good time, do share! So back to Dehesa. I have to admit to having been a weeny bit suspicious

A stroll down Regent St is, at the best of times, a harrowing experience. It is by no means casual and to describe it as a stroll is actually grossly misleading because it's more akin to a slalom - dodging in and out of people and than having to navigate those "sudden-stoppers" we Londoners all love. However, take a sideways step to the left or right and you'll find that off the main drag, it's a whole different world; a more relaxed atmosphere where people have breathing space and seem to actually be enjoying themselves. It is here that I find my little safe harbour of Carnaby St and Kingly St with their fantastic collection of shops and more importantly, cafes and restaurants. I've loved this area since first discovering Sacred cafe and that a decent flat white could be found in this city. I got a bit more attached when the redevelopment of Kingly Court was completed. But now, having been to Dehesa, I can safely say I'm smitten.

In their own words (because I really couldn't summarise it any better, "Dehesa is a charcuterie and tapas bar inspired by the cuisine of Spain and Italy. It opened in January 2008 and is the sister restaurant to Salt Yard in Fitzrovia, Opera Tavern in Covent Garden and Ember Yard in Soho, offering sharing dishes served in a relaxed environment.

The restaurant is named after the Dehesa- a unique woodland area in Spain which is home to the black-footed Ibérico pigs - said to make the best ham in the world."

So after that blatant show of plagiarism, here is something that is my own - Dehesa is good - really really good. I came with high expectations having previously tasted what the Salt Yard group's restaurants were capable of and Dehesa did nothing but strengthen that reputation. Working my way through the menu, the meal included:
- Chilli and garlic squid with turnip, baby spinach, pickled read onion and trozos de pan;
- Braised Iberico pig cheek with celeriac puree and truffle gremolata;
- Grilled chorizo with roasted peppers, pickled white onion and chickpea;
- Confit Old Spot pork belly with rosemary scented cannellini beans;
- Grilled beef bavette with parsnip puree, smoked bone marrow and crispy parsnips;
- Courgette flower stuffed with goats’ cheese and drizzled with honey;
- Patatas fritas with romesco sauce and aioli; and
- Classic tortilla

Before finishing with the Italian cheese selection and the apple cake with clotted cream and treacle apple.

Each dish tasted of pure quality which is a reflection of the attention gone into the careful selection of ingredients for each menu item. Picking a highlight is near on impossible but at a push, I would say the confit pork belly and pig cheeks are unmissable; they are just incredible dishes and my only critique is that there wasn't enough (not that enough would ever be enough...).

Overall, an incredible meal in one of London's trendiest areas. The food was top notch and drinks were equally as good. I would recommend a visit for anyone looking for a great night.

After a hard days graft of brunching at Chiltern Firehouse and shopping on Oxford street, we had worked up another appetite and a late lunch was needed. We happened to be around Carnaby Street, so instantly I thought of Dehesa. Given that I love Salt Yard and this place had been open since 2008, I thought it was time to test the water and cheat on its older sister. Serving a menu of Tapas and Charcuterie it was time to give our feet a rest, fill our stomachs and enjoy a drink.

Our first couple of dishes was Grilled Chorizo with Pea Puree and Onions and Chili Prawns with Spring Onion, Cucumber, Tomato and Radicchio. The first was a bright dish with amazing flavour coming from the Chorizo. The second was light and fresh with a bitter taste from the Radicchio. We then moved on to the Patatas Fritas which came with a Romseco sauce and Alioli, just very good tasting chips. This was shortly followed by the Lamb Chop with Carrot, Spring Onion and Bread Sauce and the Gnocchetti Sardi with Tomatoes, Courgette, Artichoke and Mascarpone. The Lamb Chop was grilled perfectly and pink. I didn’t know what Gnocchetti Sardi was, but this delightful dish I loved! The taste really reminded me of my Grandma’s Lasagne and I could eat it by the barrel load. Our last two plates was Confit Octopus with Pink Fir Potatoes and Sauteed Broccoli and Courgette Flower stuffed with Goats Cheese and drizzled with Honey. The Octopus was an acquired taste and luckily I got to eat it all as my fellow scoffer wasn't overly keen on it. As for the Courgette Flower, I’ve had this many of times at Salt Yard and I love it!

I didn't think the service was as good as some of its sister restaurants, but it was by no means bad service. This could have been impacted by the time of day it was, as most tapas eateries close at 3pm and open again at 6pm. They’ve used the space they have very well with long, high seated tables and they have a nice little room downstairs for private parties. I know people have been writing good things about Ember Yard at the moment and people like the Opera Tavern, but my favourite from these guys will always be Salt Yard. Would I eat at Dehesa again? Yes. It’s a good place to grab some grub. But would I rather walk the extra distance for Salt Yard? Yes.

Most of the food was great. We had a plate of mussels that were not so good... Just really bland .. and they took them away so we could order something else. There was a mistake on the bill but when we pointed it out, the waiter put everything right no problems and he was helpful and polite. Nice atmosphere .

It’s actually kind of embarrassing how many items on the menu we tried for just three people, but everything was so delicious we just kept ordering! I came here as part of a group for a work bonding lunch and we had a delightful time eating here and getting to know each other. Some of the food I think was lacking a little bit of seasoning, but we had a group that was large enough that we ordered almost every single item on the menu and I got to try a little bit of everything. I think you can skip the cheese selection and cheese place in general, and even though the plates are supposed to be tapas, each serving is quite small. So if you're hungry, I would definitely lean towards ordering more food. I feel so bad that I cannot remember her name now, but we had a blonde waitress that I think had possibly a Norwegian or swedish accent? She was a great server and very attentive. She is very good about making sure that our table was clear after we finished a plate and a new plate was coming in. She was very polite and very helpful. I wish I remembered her name so that I could mention her directly.

We were wandering down Carnaby St looking for somewhere to eat when we spotted the street Dehesa is on..we could have eaten in any of several restaurants, but Dehesa caught our eye. We had several Tapas plates and all were lovely. Three of us were dining. We arrived at about 5pm without booking and told we could have a table until 7.45 which was more than enough. The Tempura Broccoli was incredible. Lovely and crunchy with a lovely honey dressing. I'd eat this for breakfast it's that good! The Croquetas with Ham and Cheese were lovely. Just what you'd expect. A nice piquancy to the cheese and crunch of ham. The Patatas Bravas had a lovely spiciness, and were nice and big cubes that were decent and crisp. The Aioli was very good. The Chorizo and Black Bean Stew was very good, nice level of spicing. The Rob Eye Steak was cooked perfectly and so tender. The Pan fried Bream with broccoli was fantastic. Lovely crispy skin, beautiful fish. For Dessert we had Churros, Crema Catalana and the Donuts with Lemon Ricotta Cream. The Churros were great, though a slightly thicker sauce would be preferred. Nit picking! The Crema Catalana was lovely and creamy, as expected. The Donuts were spectacular. Crisp, doughy, warm, sugary and indulgent. The Lemon Ricotta Cream, wow, that was incredible and a real highlight. One of the best desserts I've had in years. Nice wine list, lots of fresh cold water offered. Our server was very attentive, service was in hurried which allowed us to enjoy our meal and conversation without feeling interrupted. I see this place has some poor reviews. I'm hard to please, and tend not to review a place if I don't like it. This place was surprisingly good given it's location in a tourist hot spot. Hard to fault.
