Italian food in London is really not what it used to be. I remember going out for dinner ten or so years ago with my family and back then, Italian restaurants were simple. Carbonara, lasagne, ravioli, steak and simple fish. Now however it’s all slightly more eclectic. Nduja makes its way into everything, Prosecco now comes on tap with barely any fizz and melon topped with Parma ham seems to have been eradicated. Personally I’m a bit sad about it all. Visit Bologna in Italy and those Italian classic are still alive, but why? Because that’s real Italian food and that’s why I’m so happy Mr Randall has opened up Theo’s Simple Italian in Earl’s Court. As its name suggests, this is Simple Italian food – but done well.

I love it when a good new restaurant opens in West London. Although there are some great places already, we're not as saturated with good eateries as Soho, or further East. And when that new restaurant (though it's not that new anymore as I'm a bit slow with my write up) is from one of my favourite chefs, then it's even better. Theo Randall's newest venture is Theo's Simple Italian, a casual dining restaurant at boutique hotel, Hotel Indigo, which is a couple of minutes walk from Earl's Court tube station. The restaurant is relaxed, yet chic, and has a deli that sells all of the produce used in their kitchens, plus homemade pastries in the morning and cakes, charcuterie and cheeses in the afternoon, so you can go home and (try to) recreate the delicious dinner you've had there. Theo's new book 'My Simple Italian' might help too! The food at Theo's Simple Italian focuses on using seasonal ingredients to create dishes that are vibrant and full of flavour. Everything is cooked "simply" - there are no twiddly bits or buffons of foam - just good, tasty plates of food that you'll want to go back for time and again. There's a lovely choice of Italian wines and lots of different craft beers to enjoy with as much or as little food as you fancy. The menu is divided up in to sections of plate size so you can pop in for a quick snack, or go all out and try a bit of everything, like we did! We started small (cicchetti) then worked our way through most of the rest of the menu. Cicchetti plates we tried included the totally addictive polenta chips with anchovy dressing; veal, beef and pork meatballs; calamari fritti; and the olive oil focaccia that's ridiculously good, and of course made on site.
Newly opened Theo’s Simple Italian is Chef Theo Randall’s second restaurant, this one near Earl’s Court and tied to The Hotel Indigo. Like his eponymous restaurant at The Intercontinental, this venture features expertly prepared dishes of top quality and seasonal Italian ingredients just with a smaller menu (fairly ‘smaller’ prices too) that changes on a more frequent basis and is presented in a more casual setting.
Went here for the Italian afternoon tea. The setting is lovely, open, and well lit. The staff were attentive and helpful and charming. The food was tasty and great quality. The teas were really good. Overall it was a fun and tasty experience. I would recommend it. Especially for those looking for an afternoon tea with larger selection of savory things.
A very authentic Italian restaurant with many gluten free options (bread and pasta) and their pasta ragu was delicious and we actually came back again. They even have a kids menu. The staff are very attentive and I would highly recommend this Italian place. We will be back.
Attended a pasta master class by Theo Randall, followed by wine tasting and an excellent four course menu. Burrata was amazing, and than ravioli, oh my days, fantastic. Food here is comfort Italian cooked very well. Prices are dear, but the food quality is certainly very good though. Theo himself is also so down-to-earth, making this a thoroughly memorable experience!
Stopped here for a drink and some food after arriving to London from a long flight. My wife and I couldn’t be happier with the service and quality of the food. The place is casual in an elegant way and very pleasant. The manager , Jane, was wonderful at making us feel at home and giving us good recommendations. This place really redefined the word ‘hospitality’ for me. Coming from the US, it is so satisfying to be received with such warmth and friendliness. I am regular here, at least for the time I’m in London, and will seek other Theo’s locations as well.
Had the duck ravioli, ragu beef pasta, calamari and flourless chocolate cake. One of the better Italian restaurants I’ve been too. Flourless chocolate cake was the highlight!
We had a great night out. Very tasty food and good wine. Also an ambience is very friendly. I enjoyed very much and will return.
Fantastic restaurant. Came here for brunch on a Saturday. It was quiet, so we were served very quickly. The staff were very attentive and friendly. We had the 4-course bottomless brunch, over 2 hours. Goodness, a lot of food...! All delicious. Big selection of meats, cheeses and salads to start (we are veggie and were well catered for, eat as much as you like). Then ravioli, then a choice of mains, and a selection of desserts to help yourself to. Top notch!

Simple food done really well with care.
I have been here on 2 separate occasions and both times it has really impressed me. Food is a little pricey but is truly awesome and the staff are really friendly and polite. This is truly an eating experience that you will NOT want to miss if you are near Earl's Court tube station in London. Outstanding!!
Visited with my family (me, wife, daughter 4, son 2) and had an absolutely lovely experience. The staff went out of their way to make us comfortable and entertain our kids. The waitress (I think it was Anne, but not sure) was just delightful. Sweet, attentive, and accommodating. The food was top notch as well...kids pasta with butter and parm was huge hit and our meals of saltambucco and sea breem were stunningly good. And the wine recommended was reasonably priced and scrumptious. Highly recommend for both dates and families. 5 star experience for sure.
The best meal out I've had in a long time. Fantastically cooked food, that allows the ingredients speak for themselves, the staff are friendly and attentive, without being intrusive. I would recommend this place to anyone.
Lovely little gem just off the high Street. Great food, friendly stay, reasonable priced, lovely atmosphere, wasn't to busy when I went good dinner mid week.
Would definitely recommend this place to others
