The location is wonderful, excellent setting and warm reception. The food was at par of a fine dining, even though they don’t claim to be that. I specifically enjoyed the Otoro sashimi and the crab tacos, they were memorably delicious. Now comes the service! Despite the uniquely weird requests, they accommodated all, with no complaints and always with a smile. This place and its staff deserve every bit of this rating, I will be visiting them again and so should you!

We visited the renowned Sushi Samba at their stunning new location. Their original London venue is sky high but the latest opening looked far more visually appealing from an interior perspective and didn’t disappoint. There is also some balcony style seating which is another option.

The food here is beautifully presented and extremely flavoursome. It is also quite expensive but we were well aware of that being such a well known global enterprise and in my opinion it was well worth it to taste this wonderfully executed Peruvian Japanese fusion food

I visited Sushi Samba while on vacation in London. We booked a couple of weeks in advance since it’s known to always be fully booked. Situated in a lovely tower, from the moment you step into the elevator, you start to see all on the city from above. The place is beautifully decorated, bustling with music and people. We came in for a late dining session, and opted to order a platter of sushi rolls with some ceviche. The food was great and each maki roll had its own story. A burst of different flavors and ingredients told each story. I enjoyed the vibrant colors of the dish, very appealing to both my eyes and my tummy! We concluded our experience with the famous banana cake, and a nice selection of mochi! Definitely would recommend visiting sushi samba for a fine dining experience.

The meal was delicious and beautifully presented but the service ranged from indifferent to rude, with the exception of two delightful waiters. We ordered a mix of everything on the menu, obviously a variety of sushi, sashimi, nigiri, a large plate of mushrooms with a steamed egg all in a sauce which was immense (if your looking to order something a little different and your not sure what to get, go for this!), some gyozas, buns and vegetables along with tempura dishes, we also tried the Kobe beef sashimi, more intrigued more than anything else - but yes, it was melt in the mouth and full of flavour! The restaurant had so many waiters - there appeared to be an upper level of supervising waiters. the buns, the rock shrimp, the lamb chops, lobster tacos are all delicious. Its a MUST VISIT place...

Nestled on the 39th floor , you sure get a great view of the city while tucking in delicious food beautifully presented. Even the non obsessed foodie is gonna take out their cameras for this one.
This place is almost always busy so reserve in advance. The food is delicious and surprisingly they have quite a bunch of vegetarian options so that’s a definite plus.
We ordered the
Veg Taquitos- mini Tacos
Samba salad
Heritage carrots -smoked with crunchy Quinoa
Veg Sushi platter -Maki and Nigiri
Avocado Maki
Cancha Seviche- Corn Ceviche
Eggplant- grilled aubergines
Kobe burger with charcoal Bun

They were all delicious but i take back the memory of the crunchy quinoa from the heritage smoked carrots that very my favourite.

The food is fresh and vibrant, although the portion size might be a tad bit small for most.
Overall very pleased with the experience.

A beautiful view with mouthwatering delicious food!*Top Picks* - Kobe slider, heritage carrots, smoked aubergine Emojimeter (out of 3):Veg options: 🍏🍏🍏Portion size: 🍴🍴Drinks: 🍸🍸🍸 Having been to Sushi Samba many times for drinks, to actually eat a meal I didn't have much to expect. First off, I would like to apologise to the waiter serving us through our entire meal. In a day and age where we choose how we want to live, yet want to try everything, we definitely confused her (more on this later).. There was a lot of variety in the menu for vegetarian food. We ordered nearly everything from the options we had and there wasn't any dish below standard. One dish that really surprised me were the heritage carrots. What sounded like just a plate of steamed carrots, turned into one of the best dishes of the night! With super crispy quinoa and a delicious emulsion underneath the 'stood upright' carrots were absolutely delicious. The aubergine was another favourite, especially for all vegetarians, as it gives a real meaty texture. The corn ceviche and the salad were also quite delicious, but my absolute favourite dish was the kobe slider. A cheaper, smaller bite of the Japanese style beef but with equal decadent flavour. The table was full of Indians who were- vegetarian (did not want to eat real egg but didn't mind egg in food/dessert)- gluten free (but travelling to UK, so happy to have a few cheat day bites)- me (generally gluten free and hardcore non veg!)Explaining this to the waitress took a while, as she thought we were all allergic. It was a bit hard to explain when the gluten free person was having a bite of the taco and the vegetarians said they were not okay with eating eggs (which are not vegetarian in India) but were fine with egg in mayo but she was definitely the most weirded out when I ordered a kobe beef slider. It's difficult have food choices which aren't allergies. The staff were extremely helpful but definitely confused! She indicate every dish and whether it We understand that the chef maybe concerned if people may react to food they eat at the venue, so dear sushi samba we do apologise 🙈

Situated in the City of London in Heron Tower on the 38th and the 39th floor, this place has a breathtaking view. Firstly to get in here, it’s advised to make a reservation beforehand and also to be formally dressed. They have the main dining area and the bar area. Their outside bar has a beautiful tree which lights up in the evening. They have some of the most amazing cocktails to offer my favourite being Batida De Mango. Unfortunately I’ve not ever been able to fine dine here because of no prior reservation made. But the bar snacks menu has amazing sushi which you definitely should try!

Perched atop 38 floors, and with floor to ceiling glass windows, this place offers some of the best views of London city centre. Ambience is contemporary, upscale yet relaxed. Service is very fast with some of our orders served within 5-10 minutes.

Food quality however left us desiring a lot more. For starters we ordered the green bean tempura with truffle aioli, and shrimp tempura. The former was simple yet with a delicate taste. But the shrimp tempura seemed overly greasy (very similar to takeout dynamite shrimps).

Then came the El Topo maki roll and the lamb chops. Didn’t like El Topo a bit, as the mozzarella flavor was over-powering. The lamb chops were okay, but the portion size was eye-wateringly small.

For drinks we ordered a virgin pinacolada, which had too much ice, and it became bland in minutes.

The place can be impressive for a date but falls short of leaving a mark on foodies like myself.

Went here for lunch on a Sunday with the family. We were running a little late and the staff were very understanding and held our table for us. The restaurant is located very high up in a building, and the lift has a glass wall allowing you to see over the city, but if you don't care for heights like myself you might find this a touch off putting. The experience once safely seated however is a dream. The food is delightful and the server gave us some wonderful recommendations, the cocktails were interesting and the vibe of the restaurant is great. Surprise of the meal was the salad, I wasn't expecting much from a salad and I was proved very wrong.

Went here on a Friday night with three others and had an amazing meal. Located on the 39th floor with great views of London. Had a range of dishes - Wagyu gyoza, nigiri, sushi rolls, black cod, lamb chops. Also had some amazing fizzy sake and warm sake. The food was excellent, as were the drinks. With a large number of staff we always had drinks topped up and someone ready to take an order. The only reason I am reluctant to give it a 5.0 is because of how expensive it can be (especially for the drinks). That said, if you’re looking for a great night with good food and an amazing setting then Sushisamba is definitely a must.

I've always thought Sushisamba to be the poor cousin (but more expensive one) to Duck & Waffle. After all, D&W has a higher floor, a better view from the inside (I think so anyway) and is open 24hours. On the other hand, Sushisamba offers a Japanese-Peruvian mix culminating in Kobe beef at up to £1000 and sushi rolls with gold and caviar. Whatever it is you're going for I suppose. I'd heard similar stories from friends which had thus dissuaded me to go until recently for a friend's 30th birthday.

How much do you know about soy sauce? If you’re anything like me, then probably not a lot! I love it, and happily pour it over stir fries and sushi (mixed with a little wasabi). But I was embarrassingly ignorant about the story and history behind it. I was recently invited to an event by Kikkoman and I was excited to learn more about it, and banish my soy-related ignorance. Not only that, but the event was hosted on the 38th floor of Heron Tower at Sushisamba, a Japanese-Brazilian-Peruvian restaurant which had been on my list for some time but I’d just never got around to visiting.

Fui à semana, à noite, o ambiente é post-work e refinado.

Sushi Samba is known for being one of the top restaurants in London and it surely lives up to its rating, Sushi Samba is a great experience that you should surely experience at least once when you are in London 👌🏻
The best time to dine at Sushi Samba would be in the evening, you can experience the whole London skyline and dine with a breath taking view. Getting a reservation could be an issue so you should defiantly book a table in advance. The food and drinks are amazing they provide an amazing, innovative selection of Japanese food. When you visit you should try the Black cod, the yellowtail and tuna tiradito, the shrimp tempura and the selection of sushi- these are just a few dishes you should try, but everything at Sushi Samba was amazing, for desert you should definitely have the selection of Mushi.
Sushi Samba is a defiant must try ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Where do you go when you fancy cocktails and a nice dinner with a view? Heron Tower is an easy option in London, and Sushi Samba perfect when you can get a table!. Girls dinner with a view. Chopsticks at the ready!. We started with cocktails at the bar. Unlike those upstairs in Duck and Waffle I thought they were more hit and miss. My Japanese twist on a negroni, using the plum sake umeshu was pleasant, however some of the other cocktails were too sweet. Perhaps the barman on that evening had a sweet tooth?

It's the view and the food we are talking about here in the magnificent sushi samba. The view is just spectacular and speechless. The first floor is a restaurant and the second is a bar/ lounge based area. The staff were attentive and suggested some dishes when we were completely lost. For appetisers, our waitress suggested to have the Kobe slider which was extremely delicious with well cooked beef. We also had the baby squid and prawn tempura which were fried and spiced adequately and had a well balanced taste. For rolls, we opted for the maki roll and tiger maki which were good but could've been better to be honest. I'm a huge carnivore, and my option was to have the Kobe wagyu which was cooked right in front of us with a section of different spices depending on our preference. The lamb chops we had were pretty bad in taste. As a side, we ordered the carrot/ qinoa thing that I don't remember but I'll post a pic of it. This thing was super tasty and will knock your socks off the minute you take the first bite of it. To end of our meal, we had the mochi which was average to me. We also had the banana/chocolate cake which was addictively scrumptious. The cake was notorious in keeping the diner wanting for more. I genuinely fell in love with this. Overall, this place is perfect for big gatherings or after work meals as it both serves the perfect food and the perfect view for their diners.

This place which gives you the glimpse of the London city, like no other. Present at the 38th floor of the Herron towers, this place is would make you come there again. Starting with the open view lift which takes you to the 38th floor  giving an aesthetic view of the London. The place if way to heavy on the pockets, but one wouldn't expect it to be cheap, i believe. One of the best Japanese cuisine, that i have tasted in London. Drinks are way expensive. I like the outdoor sitting area, specially at night, when the tree is lit up giving a perfect ambiance to drink. A perfect place for celebrations (i celebrated my 25th birthday there). What a place. In life and live they often say you need something to make more of that something. Come for the food, leave with a new friend, refinance the mortgage. The hype is real. If your the type of person who double counts every coat and is tight on every penny, please do not come. No offence naturally. We had the 337 pound waygu chorizo experience, and this blessing proves, that indeed there is a higher power at work. The Kobe is beyond your wildest dreams and probably better then anything I've eaten in Japan. When your service fee is more then a meal, know your place. Try it I'd you dare, finish with an amazinf dessert and a cocktail on the balcony. Salute to the owners who have achieved though whatever Means they could to create an unreplicable experience in this great city

Situated on the 38th floor of heron tower sushisamba boasts stunning panoramic views of London, with a state of the art bar and restaurant. Though expensive, Sushisamba is well worth it. They have an excellent selection of drinks and the ambience is just phenomenal.

Sushisamba serves up excellent Japanese food that tastes excellent and is also very aesthetically pleasing. We ordered the black cod, the Kobe beef, vegetable tempura, yellowtail taquitos and a couple of desserts. The black cod was cooked and glazed perfectly, it was exactly what I had hoped for. Kobe beef quality was phenomenal, second to none. Though the sauces were not complimenting the beef very well, the quality of the beef was very very good one could see the perfect marbling of the meat. Though extremely pricy it was definitely the best beef that I have ever had. The yellowtail taquitos were extremely good, the avocado filling complimented the fish very well.

All in all my experience at Sushisamba was excellent, though the service could have been better the ambience was great, the food was great and the view from the bar was breathtaking. I will definitely dine at Sushisamba again very soon..

One of my favorites in London. Starting by the speed the lift takes you to the 39 level and the amazing view you have. The restaurant appears to be always full and we were advised to book a table in advance. We stayed for some drinks outside and we have a great time. The decoration has a good taste and the music is really amusing were some known Brazilian singers were playing (the great Seu Jorge!). You pay for the view you get, so put on your best outfit and make sure you have some notes to spend.

If you're thinking of good sushi, London has far better to offer! If you want what is arguably one of the most spectacular views of the city, it doesn't get any better than this. The menu IMO was all over the place, but the miso soup and sushi/sashimi platters we ordered weren't half bad. In summary, ordinary food with an extraordinary ambience.

Loving London - I will never miss out on the chance to visit a rooftop restaurant, giving me the chance to combine the stunning views of the City with good food and drinks.

I have been to the Sushi Samba bar a few times, without thinking of it as being that special, however, visiting the restaurant has changed my mind!

I started with a tuna ceviche cocktail - up to date one of my favourites! Tuna ceviche was served on top of the passion fruit flavoured cocktail in a passion fruit shell.

The food was equally stunning. We ordered a selection of ceviche, gyoza, robata and samba rolls and finished our delicious dinner with the passion fruit cake and the Peruvian chilli mousse. I will be back.

Spectacular view over London, in a sunny day it is a must to eat outdoors. The sets of sushi and ceviche are great and the black cod is mandatory. The cocktails are interesting and the service is efficient. The view and food quality compensates the higher price.

Absolutely fell in love with this place. The views are magical. When you go in the elevator and see all of London beneath you as you reach the 39th floor is just speechless.
You need to reserve a place at least a couple of days in advance. As for the food, if it's your first time the waiters are very helpful in making you decide on what to have.
I recommend their sushi and maki rolls as well as their appetizers.

Excellent service from reception all the way until we get our coats back! My friend and I booked this on a weekday since we had no luck on availability on weekdays and anytime after 6ish. There's something quite exciting about getting on an All-glass-fast speed lift up the Heron Tower building! The bartenders were very attentive and even explained which cocktail we should order. £10-15 for a cocktail is a bit too steep so we only had one each, maybe best to come after payday! We were given a bar tab so we can bring our drinks to the restaurant. I love sushi and it's probably one do the best I've tried in London. The ambience was amazing, considering how cold and rainy and grey the weather was that day, the high ceiling lights and eclectic fusion of Brazilian and Japanese zen design of the resto made it feel so cozy to wine and dine. This means you can leave your fur coats at reception and you can be glam with dresses without the tights and warmers! The crew was so friendly always making sure we were taken care of. Definitely a lush place dinner before your night out.

Although Sushisamba markets itself as Japanese-Brazilian fusion, it could have passed for just Japanese, as there was far more Asian cuisine on the menu, and I for one thought the Asian flavours surpassed the South American ones, particularly with the sushi and sashimi.

Along with the standard Japanese starter of edamame, which was underwhelming, we also ordered the green bean tempura with truffle mayonnaise – an incredibly simple dish, but one of my favourites of the night. The batter was feathery light and the truffle flavour was the perfect complement!

Great experience - from the lift ride up the Heron Towers to the views of the gherkin from the bar. Mind you, one does pay for those views, but it feels worth it. Service is super slick, food flavours wonderful and the ambiance good in the bustling dining room. On the negative side, thought they could have done more with the decor and the wine prices were on the silly side. That said, I would return and I think it is a must on a gastro tour of London.

Wow. Where do I begin? I went to Sushi Samba for drinks with a friend, and their outside patio is absolutely fantastic. I would appreciate a little bit more of a view, but at the same time I understand all the high plants are there for wind protection.
As a Dutchie I do have an inherent appreciation for an orange decor. The place is trendy, but casual and not snobbish at all. The prices are not cheap, which explains why everyone there is relatively well-dressed.
However, while the prices at high, you will absolutely get your money's worth. I do not recall ever having this high quality sushi. It's not not only fresh, the flavours are bold and absolutely unique. There is a delicacy to every dish that is impeccably well thought out. I never would have thought mozzarella on sushi could work out, yet they somehow did it.
Sushi Samba's view is on a similar level: the city is at your feet. Just like I am at the feet of the chefs of Sushi Samba, because being on your knees kissing the ground they walk on is really the only thing you should do.

We had planned our trip to London, and as far as sushi places went, there was nowhere else on the shortlist after seeing the menu for Sushi Samba. The food was absolutely unbelievable. Had the beef tataki with quails egg, lobster tacos, samba rolls, but best of all, squid. It the tempura batter was to die for. I'd happily rate this place 5 for food, it was the hour wait for drinks that let it down. We ordered, the waiter forgot, came back his break, said they were on the house, and then came back half an hour later after coming back with a very different wine, as the in my friend wanted wasn't cold enough as they ran out during her wait. We were alao rushed to order, and having never been, it was pretty intimidating. Charged full price, so no discount for the endless waiting, and a service charge?! Food ace, service...bad. Would recommend though for the food alone

It's okay to splurge on an expensive meal every once in a while.. And Sushi Samba was well worth the splurge! Very crowded even during weekdays so make sure to book well in advance. Very interesting looking crowd, I had a feeling they were all/ mostly in the entertainment industry. There is a restaurant portion designed in a light and airy ambience, with plenty of breathing space, and there was an outdoor bar area that looked very crowded (but I'd imagine would make a nice place to meet someone). I had no idea what to order so asked for the lovely waitress's suggestions.. None of which disappointed. We had the Angus sliders, a bean starter, two plates of sushi (Sushi Samba Special Sushi) and a sushi wrap. The food was rich and very filling, worth the price. On the way out of the restaurant, got a beautiful view of the Gerkin.
The only downside was the attitude of the women "bouncer" which told us off for being 5 minutes late. The restaurant will still be successful, even without this snobby attitude.

SushiSamba’s food menu is quite unique – there are three separate kitchens, with many of the dishes being served in smaller ‘tapas’ style servings, or some large plates for those who want to keep their meal to themselves. Fortunately, my party were up for a culinary adventure and decided to order a variety of dishes from the ‘Small Plates’, ‘Robata’ and ‘Aperitivos’ sections of the menu.

Made it to the heron tower for late night sushi and drinks and it did not disappoint! The menu had a lot to offer but we decided to share a couple of starters and then get a variety of samba rolls that we could all sample. We shared the cheapest bottle of white wine on the menu, which was 33 pounds and absolutely delicious! Highlights were definitely the salt and pepper squid and the EL TOPO samba roll- which was a salmon roll with melted mozzarella and avocado and other yummy flavours including crispy onions, it was so delish I could have eaten several platters of it to myself, but resisted! We topped off the meal with machi desert which was like a Japanese sorbet which came with melted white chocolate! Then a cocktail for the road! This place was a gorgeous dining experience and I imagine il struggle to find sushi nicer! The whole meal came to 180 between 4 of us which was very reasonable! Top notch Lisa B

Restaurants such as these only hold your table for two hours so as soon as you finish, there's a quick turnaround to have the table perfectly prepared for the next group of diners. The elevator absolutely shoots up with transparent windows so you get a whizzing view of London on the way up. If you're afraid of heights, I'd stand well away from the window, your ears may even pop!

Despite this we arrived late but thankfully we were met with smiles and shown to our table to begin our meal.

Would I Want Seconds?

We started by ordering drinks, which took quite a while to arrive but were great when they did. I had the Nashi Martini which was sweet with a bitter kick. We also tried the Lychee Cooler which they said tasted like piña colada. One guest ordered a Valipolicella red wine which must have been good as they kept coming.

As our last guest was stuck in traffic and running very late, we decided to get started without them. (we were starving, forgive us!) Much like the Peruvian restaurant I visited recently, if it's your first time to Sushi Samba you may wish to do some extensive googling of the menu to establish exactly what you're ordering and if you're lucky enough, you'll get a kind waiter who will explain the dishes to you.
Luckily we had both, a guest who had checked all the google images of the dishes prior to arrival and a waiter who was happy to explain and recommend. Our waiter advised that everything is designed to be shared so it is best to share between two but generally, the whole table will share. The waiter also asked if we had any allergies, to which I responded with my dairy intolerance and my sister expressed her pronounced dislike for coriander.

There is no bread or edamame beans before you order and as soon as your food is ready it comes fresh out the kitchen. This may mean your food does not arrive at the exact same time, which was fine for our group as we were sharing. Also, you are provided with chopsticks but if you're less confident about your technique, you can ask for some cutlery instead.

First up, we tried the yellow tail taquito with avocado and roasted corn miso and the crispy lobster taquito (£12.00). This is like a Mexican taco and I much preferred the yellow tail as the flavours worked better together, especially with the fresh avocado.

I wasn't able to sample the prawn tempura with snap pea julienne, spicy mayo, black truffle vinaigrette, as they were served in a Mayonnaise sauce but I'm told they were tasty but the sauce was quite rich and might have been better served on the side. The salt and pepper squid came in a crunchy white batter, the texture was quite odd and left quite a floury taste in the mouth.

Another guest went for the Californian roll sushi (when in Rome!) and wagyu gyoza and said it was delicious. The kuromitsu pork belly wraps with palmito, orange and Bibb lettuce, were very tasty but a little stringy almost like pulled pork. The Moquca Mista, jumbo shrimp, squid, seabass, mussels, clams, coconut milk, dende oil and chimichurri rice was a seafood dish I'm told was like a cross between a tagine and a risotto and went down very well.

The following selection of meals were cooked on the charcoal grill and served as 'skewers' which just means it's sliced into perfectly delectable chunks. The black cod miso was soft, succulent and flavoursome.

I shared the fillet steak teriyaki grilled scallion and lamb chops red miso lime, both were cooked really nicely; the lamb chops were delicious and tender and the steak had the gorgeous sweetness of the teriyaki sauce coming through. The Churrasco Rio Grande (rib eye, chorizo, Wagyu pichana) was presented beautifully on a slab with hot stones and accompanying condiments and garnishes in small bowls. The chef/waiter kindly served the chorizo on a separate dish as half of our group do not eat pork. The steak was cooked to perfection and I suppose it becomes a real tasting experience as you try the various sauces with the steak slices.

The asparagus sweet soy and sesame was lovely and crunchy with great flavour. The coconut rice chives was a fine tasting sticky rice dish but not my preference in texture. The plantain chips aji Amarillo were a hard texture and crunchy more like plantain crisps. As half of my family are West Indian, I am accustomed to eating plantain mostly fried and eaten for breakfast as a snack (it's a root vegetable although likened to a banana) or boiled as 'hard food' like potatoes and dumplings. So it's very interesting how different cultures prepare or cook the same foods differently (I also learned the hard way that paneer is very different in Middle Eastern cuisine to what it is in Indian cuisine but that's a story for another day).

For desserts, two of the guests had the assorted mochi soft Japanese rice cake filled with ice cream and served with a warm white chocolate sauce. This was a selection of ice-creams served in a jelly-like coating which was nice and light. My guest said it was interesting, they're glad they tried it but maybe wouldn't order it again.

I wasn't sure whether to order the the chocolate banana cake, maple butter, plantain chip as it was dairy but the waiter kindly arranged for me to have the vanilla rum ice cream separate. So the risk of eating this dessert had now been relatively lowered, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. My dessert arrived with a lit candle and "Happy Birthday" written in chocolate which was lovely, it got even better when I tasted it and it was amazing! It tasted a little bit like sticky toffee pudding which is my favourite dessert (with banana fritters a close second favourite if you're asking) and it just ended the whole meal on a high.

Could I Afford Seconds?

As a group of seven who had 1-2 alcoholic beverages each, the bill came to £600 (approx £90 each) so the short answer is no but for a special occasion, it's worth every penny. Maybe I'll return to celebrate my birthday again next year!

Alternatively, Sushi Samba also offer a brunch menu and a special lunch menu, which would work out cheaper than dining here for a full dinner.

Overall: 5/5

I really want to experience Sushi Samba all over again and sample different dishes. I thoroughly enjoyed the sharing starters, main plates, desserts and cocktails!

All in all, I found the food to be beautifully presented in all it's colourful and tradition fused glory, the atmosphere improved as it turned from day to night as the lights became more illuminated and for the most part we had great customer service from the chef and our personal waiter. The only downside is some of the other staff around the restaurant are less polite and accommodating but this doesn't reflect the whole restaurant and I wouldn't let that spoil your evening!

My recommendations: the yellow tail taquito, lamb chops, black cod, churrasco steak and chocolate banana cake but remember there's so much I haven't tried yet!

Sushisamba is located in the Heron Tower, on a super high floor with great views of London city. The high-speed lift going up is quite an experience.

The menu comprises of a strange combination of Japanese, Brazilian, and Peruvian food (what?). Everything is on the menu is expensive.

However, you do get what you pay for (or at least I’d like to think). The service is outstanding and the foods are fresh, good quality, and delicious.

Sushi Samba is pretentious. It's extravagent, it's expensive, and it trades on an air of exclusivity. But ultimately, it has a right to do so. It holds one of the finest pieces of restaurant real estate in London, and once you get up onto the 38th floor, on a sunny, calm summers night, you'll agree - it's worth every penny. You can sit and enjoy some great, but expensive, cocktails, sitting next to an outdoor firepit, looking down on all of London.

This is one of the hottest openings of this year that everyone is talking about. SushiSamba is a Japanese/ Peruvian/ Brazilian fusion restaurant (so a bit like Nobu in this way) that already has branches in New York, Miami, Chicago and Las Vegas and a few weeks ago they opened their first restaurant in Europe, in London. SushiSamba is located on the 39 th floor of the Heron Tower, in the financial city area of London, and is now supposed to be the 2 nd highest restaurant in Europe (only to be upstaged by Duck & Waffle which is located in the same building but on the 40 th floor). I went there on a very hot Friday a few weeks ago for lunch and the view from the 39 th floor was absolutely amazing, the best you can get in London in my view and tourists should be taken here not to the London Eye.    You can sit outside on the terrace, but

I made my way to Heron Tower on a Friday night and the queues form. Ladies and gentleman all dressed up ready to let their hair down on a summer night. The familiar whoosh feeling of ascending the air right to the top going to the 38 th floor, as the bell ding and opened it doors. A meal at the Heron Tower always gets off to the best possible start, thanks to a thrilling journey up the Fastest Lift in Europe(TM). But the novelty never wears off - it's an extraordinary thing, being rocketed up into the sky, ears popping and stomach churning, and is no less spectacular on a Saturday lunchtime spending hours watching the trains snake in and out of Liverpool Street station, than an evening with London's glittering skyline providing the backdrop to your bag of pig's ears and yuzu gin and tonic. So far though, the only floor I'd spent any time on was the 40th, in the bar and the restaurant of Duck & Waffle. SushiSamba, its South American sister downstairs, never felt like my kind of place; perhaps I had, unfairly, visions of the superficial, celeb-chasing likes of Nobu and

Absolutely love this place! Went here for my birthday dinner and enjoyed a great meal. However, the star of the night was the open bar outside, the ambience was unique and festive. The drinks were good and the food was delicious! Great place to go for a celebratory dinner or drinks with friends. However, definitely recommend to book a table from before.

Organising a Friday-night dinner at Sushi Samba required a considerable amount of forward planning and patience. This relatively recent addition to the London dining scene is so fashionable that my friends and I were subject to a three-month wait for a table.

Arriving five minutes early for the reservation (a rarity for me) we were swiftly pointed to the bar. As the queue for a drink was ridiculously long (that’s strike one), we made our way to the terrace dominated by a brightly lit tree. Sushi Samba is located on the 38th floor of Heron Tower, so you can imagine the view over a glittering London extended far beyond the Square Mile.

Seated at the table in the buzzing restaurant, we were presented with a sake menu whose length exceeded the food menu tenfold. The mildly stressful dilemma of which bottle to select was expertly dispelled by the pleasant and ostensibly knowledgeable waiter, who suggested a mid-range, cold, dry sake – perfect for the occasion.

Whilst I was enjoying my drink, two of my friends declared themselves the ‘Sushi Dons’ and ordered for the table. The self-professed dons did not disappoint.

Starting with the rock shrimp – which was deliciously crunchy – our first taste of Sushi Samba was excellent. The tuna tataki (which tasted suspiciously truffle-infused but the menu declared otherwise) and the yellowtail sashimi were both light and refreshing. Whilst undeniably the starters were dishes worthy of praise, I was left craving the Peruvian influence that I had been expecting.

No fear: that subsequently arrived in the form of four sushi rolls. Although a sushi roll fused with cheese may sound like gastronomic suicide, I hereby declare El Topo (salmon roll with jalapeño, mozzarella and onion) the exception to this decree. Neo Tokyo was a decent tuna roll although it perhaps stood in the shadow of its sushi roll siblings. The Sao Paolo roll seemed to combine every possible ingredient under the sun – violating the rule of Simplicity 101 – yet the flavours blended together well. The Sasa was ordered purely out of greed (you only live once, right?) but was a good dish: shrimp tempura hand roll with a twist on the rice base. Last (and unfortunately least) was the ‘Ezo’, which was distinctly underwhelming and unmemorable.

On the booze front, we actually stuck to sake all night. It was delicious and matched the food perfectly. If I had chosen a wine, however, I would have opted for an Alsatian or German riesling (they had a coupe of options on the menu). The aromatic character and refreshing acidity of the wine would have complemented the spicy and flavourful food.

Although at this point far too much food had been placidly devoured, the dessert menu looked exceedingly enticing. My friends and I have eyes bigger than our stomachs, so we ordered three desserts. Yes, three – don’t judge. The waiter skillfully emboldened us to order the red chocolate chilli peppers: a dish of chilli chocolate mousse with pepper & raspberry sorbet (which actually turned out to be quite spicy!). This dessert was gone in seconds, leaving us with our other two choices. The chocolate banana cake had its merits but unfortunately it simply lacked the sophistication and unconventionality of the chilli chocolate. The apple and yuzu concoction was quite zesty and refreshing but not really up my street (and during a subsequent visit to Sushi Samba I noticed this dessert had been discontinued).

All in all, all that food and sake meant we pretty much rolled out of the building.

If you are a little tired of the ubiquitous experiences of the West End, Sushi Samba is a terrific alternative in terms of both experience and food. The ambiance in the restaurant is buzzing; the views are excellent and beaten only by The Shard; for the most part the food ticked all of the boxes and was distinctive enough to merit a trek to EC2. While I would be happy to go back, I’m not sure I can be so patient the next time round.

There are plenty of hotspots in London that I have yet to visit, and Sushi Samba had been hovering at the top of the wishlist for quite some time. So, as an early birthday celebration for E, we headed there one chilly evening (having made the reservation months in advance, which is kind of necessary for weekends).

We started off with a drink at the Duck & Waffle bar, where we enjoyed the panoramic, lit up view of London and the fun decor inside. I went for a cocktail called Winter something, which was kind of like a smokey old fashioned - delicious.

After warming ourselves up a little, it was time to head to the main event! At first glance, I loved the setting of the restaurant area at Sushi Samba - modern, stylish, the music wasn't too loud (it might sound a little grandma-y, but nothing bothers me more than having to shout out a conversation over dinner) and the staff were lovely.

The menu is fairly extensive so we had a good browse through, and chose what we thought was a nice selection of different flavours and dishes - we also realised that we were there during Kobe Week (third week of every month), so wanted to try one of the kobe beef specials too.

Here's what we settled on in the end:
TURBOT brioche, ponzu, sea water caviar, truffle oil
PICANHA TATAKI foie gras, aji panca, fried quail egg
KOBE MINI BURGER brioche, horseradish mayo, aji amarillo
COCONUT RICE chives
SAMBA LONDON crab, tuna, salmon, white fish, prawn, scallop, wagyu, avocado, tempura crunch, wasabi mayo, aji panca, house-made soy reduction
SÃO PAULO scallop, masago, red onion, tuna, salmon, shrimp, white fish, avocado, truffle, hatcho miso soy, chive oil

Until the sushi arrived at the end, we thought we'd need a little more food, but the sushi filled us right up! And they were definitely our favourites of the whole meal - on our next visit, we'd probably just focus on the sushi rolls as they were so unique (I'm Japanese, but no purist when it comes to fusion food!), and absolutely delicious. We liked everything else too - the Picanha Tataki in particular - but the sushi was the highlight for us.

It was an excellent meal, and although we didn't have the best view of the London skyline from our table, I loved the atmosphere there and we spend such a great evening. It's a wonderful place for a special occasion or if you're visiting London and want to splash out a little on something different - it's original, high quality and you can't help but feel the trendy vibe rub off on you a little.

I loved the look of the little sushi bar they have out at the front, with the chefs preparing their platters - people were happily sitting there, enjoying their dinner. Surely these are prime seats for food bloggers, too?!

All in all, I would definitely go back - perhaps in the daytime next time, so I can enjoy a different view.

OH MY GOODNESS I LOVE SUSHI SAMBA!This is a must, must, must-do in London! Especially if you're like me and a sucker for rooftop parties, views and delicious cocktails.Sushi Samba is on the 39th floor of the Heron Tower in London and, once you've taken the all-glass elevator to almost the top (Duck & Waffle is the floor above); you are met with sweeping views of the city, including 'The Gherkin' and other famous sites right in front of your eyes.I went to Sushi Samba with 3 girlfriends for a ladies night and it was the most awesome experience. Ironically enough we never actually had any sushi but when you're on South African Rands you tend to shy away from salmon and caviar...We spent the evening (a Friday if I remember correctly) outside on the rooftop patio which is so beautiful and has an enormous, incredible tree right in the middle that serves as the center of the bar. We ordered cocktails and they were made so precisely and oooooooohkayyyyy they were amazeballs! Mine was similar to a Pina Colada with a massive pineapple leaf as decoration. The other girls also all had stunning drinks and the whole vibe is just electric. The cocktails weren't toooo expensive (not much more than anywhere else) but you are paying to be above London and with some of the best-looking young professionals around. Aka VIBE!I would definitely recommend this for the experience because it is exactly that - an experience.

Sushi Samba is a unique restaurant serving Japanese food with a twist of Peruvian's taste. Located in Heron Tower on the 38 & 39th floor, you will take the amazing glass lift that allows you to see a fantastic view of London.

As I arrived on the 38th floor, this floor was mainly for people getting drinks and light meal (sushi bar), the terrace was also on this floor. The server greeted us and take us to our table upstairs. It was full packed of people but did not give me that annoyed feeling for being really crowded. The place got a high ceiling which gave a really spacious atmosphere. I went here for a dinner, all the lights sets were mainly red and yellow - basically this place was amazing for their interiors.

Honestly, the food here was a standard great in my opinion. Maybe my tastebud is not made for a fancy food, so I'd say the food was "hmm yeah it's great". I ordered few of the Samba rolls, the sashimi, and tacos for the appetiser which I forgot what it was. I might ordered a wrong dish that's why I say this or because I do not eat meat that's why... Everything costs me around £200 for 2 person.

With this much of money I spend, I expect the service has to be great. And what?! The service here was really amazing, top class!!This Hong Kong lady who serves us got her knowledge just right, very professional and friendly! She even suggested us the Spanish white wine which I fell in love by the first sip! It was the house special during that time, I wish I could remember the name of the wine because it was really really good.

After dinner, we decided to take a tour downstairs to see whats in the terrace. The terrace was pretty, it has a big tree decorated by the LED lights and a fireplace on each seating area.

Overall, even though Sushi Samba is rather expensive, but I'd go back again to experience other dishes that I missed and the drinks! I might be more excited to go here for a drink. Basically:
Food: 3.7/5
Drinks: 4.5/5
Service: 5/5
Place: 5/5
Price: 3.4/5
Recommended? Yes! It'll be quite an experience to dine in here! And make sure to book a table in advance.

As for the atmosphere, the dim lights makes the restaurant very intimate. If you go make sure to come just a little bit earlier to enjoy the vibrant and buzzing bar. We went here as we were curious to try out such a high ranking sushi place nearby where we lived at a nearby hotel - and I love sushi so what better reason needed! It is a bit of a walk from the hotel but worth seeking out if you’re in search of good sushi in the area.

The chef and his team are clearly very dedicated and take time to enthusiastically explain the menu to you, advising where necessary. The sushi we had (and we had a lot) was so fresh and beautifully presented. The chef is extremely knowledgeable and creates amazing things given the tiny kitchen! Even the soya sauce is house-made and is not as salty as I know it to be from other places. The owner is very friendly and obliging. The fish is as fresh as it can be the selection and types of sushi just perfect.

As for the food, genuinely probably the nicest sushi we have ever had, not that I'm a great expert. Had a load of nigiri, prawn tempura, and California rolls topped with seasonal fish. It was all gorgeous, the fish was really fresh and better quality than you'd get in a lot of places. And definitely try the sushi with raw quail egg yolk - it was so tasty and like nothing I'd ever tried before. And the prices are so good; considering the quality of the food, the value for money is incredible.

The restaurant itself is very beautiful and there is music playing in the background. There are many seats so if you are going on a weekend you should really book in advance, as it gets crowded. The restaurant just adds a really genuine independent feel. This is a local place run by local people who charge really good prices and deliver delicious food. So, I shall be back to sample lots more on the menu in my next trip!

As it was a Friday night the crowd started to become a herd, I met up with the girl that was leaving and got a corner section. As the rest of the people came, we ordered cocktails and champagne. I don’t remembered what we exactly ordered but the drinks were very decent and lasted the whole night. As the night darken the tree by the bar lit up and sparkle like Christmas.

As we started to feel peckish we ordered some samba rolls and OMG it tasted amazing. SÃO PAULO looked like a colourful caterpillar, nine pieces of big size rainbow roll. Each piece salmon stuffed inside, but the top had different slices of fish like, scallop, masago, tuna, shrimp, white fish, truffle, etc. Fish, tasted so fresh, combined with chive oil and hatcho miso soy it was HEAVEN.

Sushisamba is a blend of Japanese, Brazilian, and Peruvian cuisine, and it shows in the music and design. Go online to their website and lounge away to the bossa nova music. I love the current playlist of Monica Da Silva music from the Brasilssima album. I had a fantastic night mainly drinking at Sushisamba.

I love Sushi! London has witnessed a sushi “explosion” of late and you’ll find a small or high end sushi bar/restaurant pretty much every where in London.

I’d been to Heron Tower quite a few times but didn’t get a chance to visit Sushi Samba primarily because I couldn’t be bothered to book! The more high-end or full of hype a place is- the harder it is to get a booking #firstworldproblems. And so I made a booking for a Sunday a MONTH AND A HALF IN ADVANCE.

Fast forward to the day, my friend (who’s a vegetarian) and I (a hardcore carnivore!) made our way to the venue. Blitzed to the 38th floor and we were greeted by their lovely staff. The decor of the place is very modern, high ceilings, lots of space around the bar area (you can even eat there) and most importantly, lots of light! If you want to enjoy great views of east London, then this is one of the top places to be.

The staff are really friendly and although I wasn’t sure if there will be any crowd on a Sunday evening- it was packed! Felt like the weekend had just begun. So after ordering our drinks we immersed ourselves in the menu (I was starving!! no surprise there…)

I wanted to make sure there was a balance between vegetarian and meat dishes and both of us got to enjoy the meal. In situations like these, it’s always best to get the waiter’s opinion on what’s really good/popular. At least, I always like to go through the menu with someone who works there because who would know their food better than them!

So we ordered a couple of small plates like a salad, a tempura dish (had to!), mains for both of us and saved enough space for dessert! Gone are the days when you just ordered your main and stuck to it. Nowadays, it’s all about sharing and I love that concept. I’m glad restaurants have taken this idea of sharing on board. How boring is it when you can only order your own dish and not be able to try different bits on the menu or share with your friends?? I’m a pig and I want to try pretty much everything! :p

The dishes started arriving as they were getting ready so while we’d be sampling the eggplant, a plate of tempura would be placed next to it. But before I even mention the taste- the presentation is GORGEOUS! The food does not only taste bloody delicious, it’s a site for sore eyes. It’s so well presented that you’re almost sorry for ruining the chef’s handiwork.

The salad, although simple, had really good textures and it was fresh. It was a great way to start the meal. It was followed by the eggplant and market vegetable tempura. I loved the eggplant dish. It had a sticky glaze on top of it that made it so moorish and the sesame seeds gave it a nice crunch. One thing a Japanese restaurant has to do right no matter what, is tempura. And the market vegetable tempura was not a disappointment! It was crunchy from the outside yet the vegetables withheld their juiciness and taste.

Next ones to land on the table were the Black Cod and the vegetarian Samba rolls my friend ordered. First of all the Black Cod- OH MY GOD! That is all. One thing you HAVE to order is the Black Cod- juicy, melting in your mouth goodness. I could’ve had several plates of that. I’d never tried peruvian corn before and I loved it- giant version of a normal corn! I would’ve been happy calling it a day at that but the Wagyu Tataki finished my main meal off very nicely. I was in a daze of happiness and loving it! The amount of dishes we ordered was perfect as that left space for the dessert and you CANNOT leave this place without ordering dessert. It is not only gorgeous to look at, it tastes heavenly! It’s what your sweet tooth yearns for.

Anything chocolatey on the menu and I’m game so I went for With Love From Rio (love the names!) that was a concoction of valhrhona macaé ‘pure brazil’ dark chocolate ganache, coffee mousse, tonka bean ice cream and caramelised macadamia. Yum, yum and double yum! My friend ordered the passion fruit cake and looked more like a deconstructed version of it. It was made of green tea and white chocolate ganache, raspberry sorbet, coconut tuile, fresh raspberries and passion fruit. I had a bite and died.

SO! let’s get down the basics. This is by no means a budget meal so come prepared. But one thing is for sure- it will be worth every pound! From the ambience, the food, the service and the vibe- it’s definitely worth waiting the month and a half I waited for. Of course, if you’re not looking for a specific day, you may find a table. Between the two of us we paid around £65 which considering everything wasn’t bad at all.

It’s super easy to get to- literally next to Liverpool Street Station.

As always, I try to be as regular in my reviews as I can but unfortunately my mouth and stomach work like flash! And the writer in me struggles to keep up… I shall leave you to gawk and drool over the food photos.

Me and 4 other friends went to sushi samba for cocktails on a saturday afternoon. To cut the story short, we stayed there for 7 hours! We must have tried all the different cocktails plus of course champagne by the terrace is a must. Their cocktails are all done very flambuoyantly and tasted perfect but of course you do pay the price £15/drink and champagne bottle at £80. The crowd is very vibrant and it never got super busy but just chilled and relaxed. While drinking i asked the receptionist to let us know if there are any cancellations in the restaurant and we will take it. Luckily they managed to accommodate us and we all had a lovely meal too! We ordered different sushi rolls, and some brazillian dishes and they were all very scrummy i must say. All in all, i think you get what you pay for. High quality service, friendly staff, STUNNING VIEW! The only downside is, it will probably cost you over £100 to get tipsy ???? and oh, you have to dress up Elegant Casual otherwise you will not be allowed in. A few people ahead of us were not allowed because they were wearing trainers and jeans.

The place offers delish cocktails. There is an outdoor bar which is quite good and pleasant. There is one word to describe this place well: trendy. It is absolutely beautiful to look at, and the views from the restaurant are even better. It is especially breathtaking at night. It is advisable to book well in advance, and the place is packed always. The food is of an amazing quality, but it is not something I preferred, The sushi was not filling, and after an expensive dinner, I was still hungry. But, it tastes heavenly. The Green bean tempura that we ordered was fried just right, and served hot and crispy. The taquitos are also crunchy and not over the top. The roll was the best I have ever had here. There are certain menu-items that are very overpriced. but overall, it is a top dining experience.

Sushi samba is a mix of two of my favourite cuisines and I just love this place. Located in the Heron Tower this is just the perfect place to go for a date or with few friends and family. The view from the top is just amazing and you see the entire London city. Eating with a gorgeous view is just another plus point here.
The decor is amazing and I love the use of lighting and lamps. The lit up tree outside , in the courtyard usually a smoking room just adds to the charm of the place. There is a bar area before the main dining area. The bar area is also quite vibrant and buzzing.

The restaurant is always full and vibrant and you need to book a few days in advance to get a table here.

The food at Sushi Samba is really fantastic . My recommendations would be their Crispy Taquitos (wagyu one is my favourite) and the pork belly wraps from the starters.
Their shrimp Tempura is just too yummy.

Try their Samba rolls .Since I love prawns i really enjoyed their Tiger maki samba roll.It is one of my favourite dishes.

Only had drinks here, which were nice. Obviously the views are exceptional. All was well until we got the bill. We'd had probably around 8 beers between the group, a couple of cocktails, and a bottle of wine. The staff had managed to sneak another bottle of wine onto our bill though. At £60 odd pound a pop we obviously noticed. However they weren't happy and it took some persuasion to get the bill corrected, and we we're made out to be the bad guys. I have my suspicions as to whether this was a genuine mistake by them tbh, and an apology might have been nice

There's a mix of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian food dishes and I loved everything that if tried here.
The atmosphere is buzzing and the place is busy with loud samba music playing in the background. I especially enjoyed the prawn tempura and black cod. Everything was beautifully presented.

It was not a cheap meal but such a wonderful experience that I will remember forever and by far the best sushi that I have tried.

All in all- fantastic experience. Magnificent food coupled with breathtaking views of London .. I cannot wait to go back.

The experience is really good from the moment you step into the building. You can see the view from the lift that takes you to the bar and once you are inside the bar the views are fantastic. Sushi is one of the best I've tried! And the experience of enjoying the cocktails while watching the view with great company is the best!

It was one of the last hot summer days in London. We made our way to Sushi Samba for a Sunday lunch. A little flirt with the waiter, and we got a table in a sunny spot on the terrace with an amazing view…

It was one of the most enjoyable lunches this year!

What makes Sushi Samba so unique in addition to its cuisine (blend of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian cusines), is its view on the City and East London. So make sure you ask for the table next to the window, or if the weather is nice at the terrace. Our table at the terrace was ideal…with the view that gives you this feeling of London love (you know, when you forget about all that happens at 8am on your way to work on the overcrowded tube, or when you are looking at prices of properties to buy).

To indulge more into the Sunday chill, we ordered a round of drinks to start with. Something refreshing, fruity and summery…

Being in Brazilian inspired restauarant, I could not resist caipirinha… always brings back memories of wonderfull evenings in Rio. Although name is slightly different, Kaffirinha (€13), the taste is exactly the same as the Brazillian classic.

You can never go wrong with the watermelon drink, Watermelon Baja (£13).

And a very refreshing Mojito (£13).

The menu looks amazing. I loved every single dish! We started with Wagyu Gyoza (£12). It was cooked perfectly, with crispy edges but soft on the inside. The filling was kabocha puree (Japanese pumpkin), and was served with sesam and su-shoyu dipping sauce. It dissapeared from the plate within seconds!

Another started we went for was seared tuna on bed of fresh spinach. This was taken from the special menu so can’t find or remember the exact ingredients, but I do remember the tuna was delicious! Oh My oh, incredibly soft and melting in the mouth… the sauce and veggies were its perfect companions.

This followed by a selection of sushi. Pictures talk for themselves…sushi is prepared with the creative twist. And it does look as good as it tastes!

Yoyogi (£13) is salmon with yuzu-avocado, cucumber, chives, wasabi mayo. That’s my favourite sushi platter of the day!

Samba London (£16) is a selection of crab, tuna, salmon, white fish, prawn, scallop sushi.

Our waitress managed to convience us to get one more sushi platter. Again, it was on the special menu, and I can’t remember much apart from that it had a fried prawn on top covered in funky looking stripes. It does look super fancy but it was probably the worst dish of that lunch… The funny stripes are quite tasteless to be honest.

Then, the highlight of our lunch arrived at our table… Maqueca Mista (£32).

It’s a selection of seafood cooked in coconut oil and dende oil, served with chimichurri rice. The sauce is thick but so light and silky, once you try you just can’t stop tasting it. I’m not too fond of coconut milk but it’s just cooked so well in this dish… If you have one dish at Sushi Samba, go for Maqueca Mista!

We were quite full at that point but the weather was too good to call it a lunch. Organic red chocolate chili peppers (£11.5) felt like a perfect companion to admire the view for last couple of minutes.

The taste is quite unusual – chocolate mousse with chili, rasberry-red pepper sorbet and chocolate crumble. The composition of such different tastes is interesting and sophisticated. It’s definately not my comfort food, and not something I would reorder but definately recommend it to those who like to experiment with their food!

The interior of Sushi Samba in very modern and trendy. There are two bars on the same floor, and another bar upstairs on Duck & Waffle level, so it does get pretty lively in the evenings. The place is full of energy, sometimes slightly overcrowded so do make sure you book a table in advance.

It’s a perfect spot for a date, or whenever you want to impress someone! The service is very friendly and knowledgable, but not the most organised. I did have a couple of moments trying to catch any of the waiters to either ask for something obvious like the cutlery, or to remind of some of the dishes we ordered.

I had an amazing time at Sushi Samba. But the question I ask myself – is it because of the view and amazing weather, or the food? I think it’s 60% the first one, and 40% the latter one. I will definately come back to Sushi Samba but only in the summer and to a table on the terrace!

Surrounded with the most beautiful views of London, Sushi Samba is a beautiful restaurant in Heron Tower! From the decor, to the bar, to the ambience to the food, every inch of this restaurant is beautiful.

The quality and level of food here is of the highest standards. With new and creative cocktails such as Kaffirinha is something worth visiting this place for. The Samba london rolls and tiger makki  are some things that i thoroughly enjoyed, a great mix of various sea food!

The main downside about Sushi Samba is probably how popular it is amongst people in London, making it almost impossible to get bookings less than 2 weeks in advance! So i would definitely recommend booking early if you want to go there for dinner, but if its just for drinks, anytime of the day is perfect!

The perfect place for cocktails or dinner if you can get a reservation!

The elevator ride up to the bar is enough excitement in itself! The most incredible view of London by night as you ride up in the glass elevator. Once you hit the top you are faced with a beautifully modern and classy bar with an equally exceptional outdoor terrace.

The service is very polite and the atmosphere lively and exciting.

We couldn't get a dinner reservation till 11.30pm so went for drinks instead. This in itself is worth the visit. A masterfully created cocktail list awaits you. I had a strawberry mojito which was the perfect mix of sweet and fresh.

Cocktails will sting you around £13 but are worth it for the scenery alone.

Definitely a must go on London's list of bars and restaurants. I can't wait to come back for dinner!

Enjoyed drinks here. Barman went all out for my cocktail ,listened to my likes and created something on the spot which was so good! My friends Japanese style cherry cocktail delicious also. I thought prices reflected quality and the views.

We in all the views on each side which are amazing. Loved the outside terrace and could have settled in here for the long hall if my other half was drinking.

Lift is nice and fast also, a great place for drinks but not so much for food. If you're looking for great Japanese food, London is littered with them! I don't think Sushi Samba offers the best for the food department but everything else is great and i feel thats what most people are looking for when they dine at Sushi Samba- the view, the surroundings, sense of luxury in which they offer spectacularly.

Sushi Samba is located on the 38th floor of the Heron Tower. The highlight of this restaurant is of course the fantastic 360° view and a great outdoor terrace. The terrace has a fire place which is one of my favorite things about the restaurant, they even provide blankets when it gets colder, so cozy!

It is maybe worth mentioning that the view of Duck and Waffle is nicer, simply because its not surrounded by a terrace like Sushi Samba, so make sure you ask for a window seat when making a reservation.

The menu was created with the intention of sharing and we ordered a few dishes from different sections of the menu. The service was surprisingly good. I say this having experienced not so friendly service at Sushi Samba previously.

Here is what we had
- Turbot with a small piece of brioche covered in ponzu and truffle oil. It was very fresh and the truffle oil was an excellent addition.
- Yellowtail sashimi. It tasted exactly how it should, delicious! It was covered in a jalapeño sauce, again, this was a great addition to the flavour
- Taquitos yellowtail with avocado. I really liked this dish due to it’s presentation, crispiness and spicy sauce.
- Shrimp tempura with snap peas, spicy mayo and black truffle oil. The portion of this dish was surprisingly large for tempura. Usually I imagine just a few pieces but this was generous and tasty, the touch of truffle made a big difference.
- The lamb chop with red miso and lime was good but nothing extraordinary.
- The black cod anticuchos came as two big skewers. The fish was perfectly cooked and was bathed in a delicious honey glaze.
- El topo is their signature roll which they have copyright on. This sushi consisted of salmon, jalapeño and shiso leaf, covered with melted mozzarella and crispy onion. When I think of sushi I picture something healthy and the taste of this particular dish was a bit too fatty for my liking. It’s the only dish I can say that I didn’t like, I wouldn’t want to copy it anyway.
- Tiger Maki with takuan sauce, wasabi roe, crab meat, tempura prawn, tiger prawn, wasabi mayo, beetroot yogurt and sushi sauce. This was my favorite out of the rolls we tried, obviously due to all of the wonderful fresh fish.

Desserts
- Passion fruit cake with green tea and white chocolate ganache, raspberry sorbet, coconut tuile, fresh raspberries and passion fruit. This was OK, not as flavorsome as it looked, the ganache was delicious though.
- With Love From Rio dessert with dark chocolate ganache, coffee mousse, tonka bean ice cream and caramelized macadamia. That is what I call a chocolate dessert! It was lovely.

Moving on from the food, I really liked the music that was playing as I was dining, Overall Sushi Samba is a lovely restaurant, the food and ambiance was great and so was the service (this time...). I do think its quite overpriced though because although the food was nice, for £120+ it didn't leave me wowed.

Sushi Samba is a beautiful restaurant in the Heron Tower, giving panoramic views across London. I really like the outdoor bar area for drinks with the large tree in the middle - this central feature looks stunning in the evening.

They have a variety of cocktails to try - last time I went I had the lychee cooler which was extremely refreshing and sweet. The tiger prawn maki is also good, however I wasn't impressed with the sushi. The prawn inside wasn't that crispy and lacked a bit of flavour.

The decor and cocktails made up for it, so I will definitely be returning for drinks!

Restaurants located up high, with great views over cities often suffer from food that isn't up to notch, put simply they don't need to try as hard, they have views that will often more than compensate.

The menus are extensive and it takes us some time to get through.  To start with, an exquisite round of Tiraditos, Yellowtail with Jalapeno and Lemongrasss, Turbot in the middle with brioche croutons, ponzu and truffle oil and finally the Kanpachi with yuzu and black truffle oil.

The Wagyu tataki comes with grilled foie gras, a still runny quail’s egg, with a smokey fruity sauce oozing with umami. The trio of ceviche is fresh and light and each tastes very different to the other, the scallops are served with Mandarin, the tuna with balls of watermelon and crunchy wasabi peas and the mixed option with a sweet potato lemony finish. I’m not a huge fan of the wasabi peas lingering in my tuna ceviche and the whole combo is really a bit messy to eat in a civilised setting and not conducive to putting a lot of different elements on my plate. But distractions like this are swiftly forgotten with one bite of the scallop cooked with asparagus spears. They’re covered in a light crunchy coating and are at that perfect level of just-cooked.

The black cod robata skewers are so melt in the mouth sticky, they’ve stopped resembling anything as light as fish and instead they’re like gooey sticks covered in a sweet miso sauce. The lamb chops are served pink on the inside with a hint of lime to bring out the flavour and the Wagyu that you cook yourself on hot stones is another dash of theatre to complement the view outside.

There are three elements that a restaurant needs to become one of my very favourites:

1. A lively and buzzy atmosphere.
2. A room with a view.
3. Really, really good sushi.

There is one restaurant in London that fits my criteria perfectly: SushiSamba. Actually Aqua Kyoto does too but the view isn't quite so good...

The Japanese / South American fusion restaurant is split across levels 38 and 39 of the Heron Tower, making it officially the 2nd highest restaurant in London and the perfect candidate for the next instalment in my dining at Altitude series. SushiSamba is actually one of my favourite restaurants in London and worldwide, I've also visited the New York and Las Vegas branches but London is my favourite. You can't beat those incredible views, plus it's where Mr S and I celebrated our engagement together when we were back in London after our trip to Australia.

We were a group of five girls heading out for sushi to celebrate my friend's Francesca's birthday...as you can imagine we couldn't contain our excitement to be heading out to one of the most glamorous restaurants in London.

The experience really starts as soon as you walk into the lift...

I went there for late dinner and drinks and stayed impressed from their various menu they offer to their customers.
They offer Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvan cuisine ! The atmoshphere in the restaurant was more than sophisticated and enjoyable! Would love to recommend to order the Pork Ribs or the Duck Breast for main meal or the different sets of sushi they offer and Samba Rolls I stayed in love from them like: Samba London, Tiger Maki, Sasa, El Topo.

My friend and I went to Sushi Samba on the whim. It was a Friday night and we decided to pop in for drinks to see what all the fuss was about. Suffice to say we will definitely return. The drinks were expensive (£10+) but delicious. I would say that Sushi Samba's USPs are it's views and ambiance. Stunning views of the city - a definite 10/10. Friendly staff. Great big orange tree, creating an intoxicating vibe. I would like to return to check out the food one day.

We had our reservations for 23:00, but it was definitely WORTH to wait.

What an experience Sushi Samba is, the elevator alone is an exciting trip! As you reach the restaurant you are introduced to an incredible view. The ambiance is cool and relaxed, and the staff is very helpful and attentive.

The restaurant is a nice fusion of Japanese and Brazilian food. I love the Green Been Tempura and the Churrasco De Rio (a great assortment of meats served on hot stones). Though the food is good it is still expensive for what you get, and the setting itself is quite simplistic considering the value.

However, you're mostly paying for the incredible view. Even if you do not want to eat their food, I still highly urge you to go to the bar and enjoy a drink simply for the vista; for that I recommend the Pisco Sour beverage.

All in all, a great restaurant that I keep going back to for the setting and view, not particularly the food. And do remember to book in advance for the restaurant.

I have only gone to Sushi Samba for drinks, as I have heard the food is not as good as their prices are high. However, it is a magnificent place for drinks, because when you're used to the price of 10+ pounds for a cocktail in London these are the few that are actually worth it. Very helpful and kind staff, I always find. The view is obviously amazing, and the splendid orange tree in the bar outside is so beautiful and it creates a very special atmosphere! and most of all enjoy!

-Atmosphere/Seating: At the top of one of the tallest buildings in London..you will NOT be disappointed by the setting: surrounded with glass windows giving you a fantastic view. Also great to go grab a drink at the bar later. One of my favourite bars in the city.

-Location: Near Liverpool Street Station..and up high in the building!

Great location for group dining or just for two out for a nice meal or drinks.
Food was excellent was exactly what I expected from a recommendation from a friend. It took longer than expected for someone to approach our table for our order although when they did they were very helpful in helping us determine what was a good dish.

Prices are on the extraordinarily side compared to places similar in London, but I guess that is the norm in such a central area of London and such a fantastic building with an amazing view.

I have mixed feelings about Sushi-Samba. The ambience, no doubt is excellent with the floor-to-ceiling wraparound windows that offer breathtaking views of London. The service is top notch, and the overall experience is definitely worth every penny spent.

In terms of food, the whole Brazilian-Peruvian-Japanese fusion to me confusing, and I would have wished to see more of the Peruvian tangy  meaty options on the menu. The sushi in my opinion, is decent  (we tried a really cheesy option with salmon, and another with crab stick..) However, all other dishes we ordered were excellent - I would highly recommend the yellowtail tostada, and tempura with truffle aioli. Overall, I quite enjoyed my meal, loved the atmosphere, and also the cocktails.

One of my favourite places to go out for a drink and a bite in London, Sushisamba, on the 38th-40th floor at the Heron Tower, Bishopsgate is, in one word - breathtaking. A lot of that is thanks to the almost 360 degree views of the city it offers, which are too good to put down in words, you just need to see it for yoursel (pictures added). If you have a reservation (if you're just going for drinks you don't need one) and are dressed for the occasion, an usher will lead you to one of the fastest elevators in Europe, which is also glass and while it takes your breath away, zips you up to the 40th floor in a few seconds. Sushi Samba has three different dining areas, with different cuisine and menus at each. Although I have eaten here, it's mostly been sushi to go with a drink (Akami and Sake rolls are highly recommended), and a lot of the time we zip up to the top floor, which is mostly for drinks. Here there's a central bar, and a wide variety of drink options on the menu. My personal favourite is a lovely South African Shiraz, Journey's end, of which the 2009 is on the menu. After work, this floor is pretty happening, and a lot of people come for a drink after dinner, especially for the post-sunset views of the city, which like I said, is too good to put down in words.

The American readers may be familiar with Sushi Samba, a popular Brazilian-Peruvian-Japanese fusion restaurant with locations in New York, Miami, Las Vegas and Chicago. Sushi Samba used to be one of my favourite restaurants during my NYC days and naturally, I was beyond excited to finally try out their new London branch.

The ambience at Sushi Samba was superb with gorgeous views of London from the restaurant’s 38th floor location. The food was brilliant too. But what was mind blowing was this gorgeous dessert!

The presentation of this dessert is beautiful. The chili mousse is coated in chocolate crumble and served on beds of delicate red pepper tuile separated by the most elegant scoops of raspberry-red pepper sorbet The flavours were outstanding and I was most impressed with the sorbet – so unusual, sweet and spicy – a great finale to an excellent meal!

I have to day that the meal was saved by the amazing sights from the restaurant. Quite an expensive experience for a non so special food, even if the name of the dishes might suggest that.

You celebrate the good times – and you know what, sure as hell celebrate the bad. Last weekend, a few of us decided to do both; beginning with a few forkfuls of glorious stodge and pitchers of Camden lager at the Red Dog Saloon; the restaurant which – after the last visit – my mind loves, and my stomach hates. The day was a long-overdue chance to catch up with a couple of mates, one of which of late, has been having a tougher time than Freddie Starr’s fiancé.

Turns out he had something to celebrate as well – something that, at the time of writing – hasn’t quite arrived so we will flick away the details. And to be honest, he told me as I was halfway through the Devastator and frankly my mind was elsewhere. It soon became clear that the day was not going to end with the bill at Red Dog. After a quick pit stop at the reliably decent Bluu Bar on Hoxton Square, we made haste, in the dying sun, to ascend the Heron Tower.

I can see the Heron from my apartment, where it sits alongside its two neighbours, Tower 42 and the 30 St. Mary Axe. Tower 42 may be a rapidly aging relic of the Gordon Gekko era, but it exudes a certain charm in its uniqueness (did you know its footprint is in the shape of its original tenant, NatWest?). At night, Tower 42 is crowned with vibrant blue neon – and was topped with various Olympic logos over the summer. 30 St. Mary’s Axe dared to be different; confrontational and according to many – sexual as well – but whatever consensus people reach, there is no denying that it makes a statement.

Despite ascending two hundred and thirty metres to become the tallest building in the city of London, the Heron neither reflects an ostentatious zeitgeist like Tower 42 nor possesses a gherkin-y horniness similar to 30 St Mary Axe. Instead, it sits amongst its peers –tall and striking yet disappointing dull – a wonderful example of that featureless architectural style known as ‘Modern’. It is therefore perhaps deliciously apt that the principle tenant of the Heron Tower is a dreary old law firm…

Look harder though; the Heron is beautiful on the inside. The lobby is home to an aquarium – correction – the aquarium is home to a lobby, as this particular fish tank contains seventy-thousand litres of water and is home to over a thousand residents. Backing onto this masterpiece is a little bar called The Drift, self-styled as an ‘Island of calm in the heart of the city’. The Drift is nice enough; if you haven’t been there, imagine wooden tables, flowery cushions and a few organic identifiers thrown around an industrial-looking room – but the management really shouldn’t kid themselves – after 5pm on a school night, no bar in the City is an island of calm. I went there once, but soon found a reason to never go back again.

That reason lies at the same address as The Drift, albeit thirty-eight floors up – and that’s where we were hurrying to. A well-disguised entrance on the Bishopsgate side of the Heron Tower leads in to a tiny lobby, a lift and a man. I said to him;

“SushiSamba please”

We were ushered into the elevator and pushed the button for floor thirty-eight. The ride would have been uneventful if it wasn’t for the fact that this particular lift is glass, and hangs on the outside of the Heron. I eventually succeeded in prying my mates’ gaze away from the news on the in-lift telly (seriously?!) and encouraged them to take in the panorama of London – now bathed in darkness, but no less spectacular. The dome of St. Pauls shone out in white light, and the inky ribbon of the Thames was still unmistakeable. As my ears popped, the City of London opened up beneath us – despite is being a Sunday, there was a constellation of light in the windows, but by now I didn’t really care – the only glass I was interested in were the ones containing cocktails at SushiSamba.

SushiSamba is a small restaurant group that was founded in 1999 in my spiritual home of Manhattan, founded by Shimon Bokovza, Danielle Billera and Matthew Johnson; three restaurateurs with seemingly endless colour and vision – at least if you go on what their bios say on the website;

“…Johnson has his finger on the pulse of progressive”

“…an eye for trendsetting concepts combined with administrative and financial savvy make (Billera) one of New York City’s most successful restaurateurs”

“…(Bokovza’s) visions set trends in the dining world”

Jesus Christ. Any more creative buzz words and my laptop screen would disappear up its own arse.

SushiSamba in London was the first international opening for the group, soon followed by Duck and Waffle, directly above, on the fortieth floor. To a certain extent, the website talks the talk and walks the walk; when SushiSamba opened, it was very different and quirky. Like Bubbledogs, the name suggests mad combinations and shouts

“Get your arses in here, we’re down with the crowd and dare to be different!”

In ‘Samba’s case, ‘different’ equals a fusion menu which combines Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian cuisine – a concept that so far, has not been well-received this side of the pond. SushiSamba’s restaurant has been widely derided by critics as being over priced, with Time Out placing the sushi offering as “…near London’s dearest at around £2 per mouthful”, and meals for two (with not much booze) coming in at an alarming £150 upwards. It would be too easy to insert a joke along the lines of ‘sky-high diing, sky high prices’ or something like that and be done with it; that is, if the food was worth the disbursement.

I have little inclination to dine here as it appears that is isn’t.

SushiSamba’s menu seems all style and no substance, described by Hardens as “pretty”, but very much the “supporting attraction” when considering the views. This is all by the by as sadly, most of the money makers in the City would be content– as the Viz once wrote – with “a Super Chef wanking onto a lettuce leaf, serving it on a big plate and charging a hundred quid for it”

The marginally more cost-effective way to enjoy SushiSamba’s star attraction – the views – is to visit the bar, and that is exactly what we did on that mild Sunday evening. Unlike the restaurant – which requires reservations – one can just sidle up to the bar and have a leisurely evening without the fuss of million-pound sushi or brainfart gastronomic fusion. Mondays to Fridays follow the trend at The Drift and friends, with ‘Samba’s bar becoming a bit of a riot, but at the weekend, while the City sleeps, there is just enough business to keep the place ticking over, with a few seats always available.

That you are able to park your ass at all is pretty remarkable really. Whereas the restaurant area is pretty large, the bar is not; consisting of the a few cushioned benches squeezed in underneath a staircase and against the south-facing window, affording spectacular views of Central London, framed by the neighbouring 30 St. Mary Axe and Tower 42. In the centre of the room there is a rather fetching – albeit deserted – sushi counter, and beyond that lies the north-facing bar terrace, with lots more seating (if weather permits). Seeing as it was a mild night, that is where we headed, claiming a few wooden benches surrounding an open fire.

The views from the terrace are nothing compared to the south-facing view (or the east-facing view in the restaurant – offering unlimited views all the way to Olympic Park and Canary Wharf), but sitting out here is spectacular nonetheless. Somehow, everything feels so peaceful 190 metres or so up, and very ‘zen’, aided in no small part by a large (fake) orange-hued tree in the centre of the outside bar, complimenting the largely orange and red SushiSamba colouring that peroxides all areas of the restaurant. Aside from that, the rest of the decor is more functional than fanciful, but who comes up here to look at hip chandeliers anyway?

Our gaze across the metropolis was halted with a cursory perusal of the drinks menu. To be honest, whereas there is a fine beer, wine and sake selection on offer (sake being a drink du jour – sales have been declining in Japan since the Nineties but skyrocketing around the rest of the world) the second best reason to visit SushiSamba is the monumentally exciting cocktail menu. For better or worse, it replicates the W.T.F. of the food menu but the concept fits drinking far better than eating.

Time was pressing so we stayed for one round. One of my friends had “work to do” and although we were trying our best to keep him away from sensibility, we’re not monsters. Between us we tried a Chu-Cumber, a Libre-Corn and the Inca Swizzle. Classy as you like!

The Chu-Cumber is a coupette filled with a vibrant green mixture of Hendrick’s and Shōchū (a rice-based Japanese distilled spirit), cucumber water, lime and turmeric. I found this to be sock-knockingly refreshing – but then if it contains Hendrick’s then it is not going to be anything other than awesome.

The Libre-Corn was a sugary twist on a Cuba Libre, afforded its sweet tooth with the use of rum infused with popcorn (how and why, I don’t really care, but kudos!) and slow-cooked clarified butter. The taste was still unmistakeably rum and cole, but the added glucose made things a whole lot smoother. The Inca Swizzle, I had tried before, but couldn’t resist ordering it again; a complex and mental mixture of dry chocolate liqueur and tequila, muddled with lemon juice and served tall over ice. It is one of those things that needs to be tried – suffice to say that it’s refreshingly yet after-dinnery, sweet-yet-sour, with everything comes together easier than Massa and Hamilton… well, I haven’t talked about F1 for a while.

One is hard pushed to find a bad drink on SushiSamba’s cocktail list; other stars include the fragrant Chamomile Gimlet, the Pablo Piscobar, made with Pisco and yuzu and finally a spiced-up Bramble, obviously called the Samba Ramble.

One drinks well at SushiSamba, which is fortuitous seeing as they charge top-dollar for the privilege. Drinks come in at around ten to twelve quid each, not including service (the servers are stunning and I guess it takes cash to keep them that way). So on that note, we were about to leave when we were interrupted by a South African lady who insisted on buying us a round of teuila shots, which facilitated a laboured conversation about orange socks, double barrelled first names but withholding enough personal information in case she tried to find us afterwards…

Our friendly South African was a comparative of the SushiSamba bar itself; she was a gourmand, clearly knowing her shit about eating and drinking. In the same vein, SushiSamba has an arsenal of expensive, authentic drinks and foodstuffs to craft a great evening. She was pleasant enough, and fun. SushiSamba is as well; it’s chilled, relaxed and peaceful. But both have something missing; for the woman, it was manners; the way she spoke to the server was embarrassingly rude and ignorant; for SushiSamba, it’s a lack of replete-ness. The night never feels wholesome; like it’s somehow all stale and carries only a smattering of substance. The saving grace? The view; easily one of the best in London.

So after we had our fill of the company, we finished drinking our drinks (and drinking in the vista), and made our way back to the magical glass elevator. Karma is Karma; it had been a good night so far, and now we were a little drunk. Go home? Well, as my housemate often says,

“Go big or go home”

We went ‘big’, and headed to a fridge…

Sushi Samba is worth for the view if for nothing else. The sense you get being there is: yes, the cost of life in London is high, but, guess what, you get London complimentary, and that is priceless. The wine list includes many expensive wines, but it still provides reasonable options, like beer or a glass of wine for 5 pounds. Prices are high but the ratio between the experience you get and the amount of money you may end up paying is definitely favourable.
The ambience is stylish and fashionable, although not really exclusive. The quality of food is very high. The combinations of flavours offered are pleasantly interesting.
I recommend Sushi Samba when you are with a friend visiting London that you want to impress.

I went there to have some drinks and to eat something and I actually LOVE the place. Its beautiful, love the drinks, the food was great. Advice you to make a reservation, we had to wait more than one hour to get a table at the restaurant, but we stayed at the bar. Great view of the city! The "Moqueca" plate is the best ever! :)

A meal at the Heron Tower always gets off to the best possible start, thanks to a thrilling journey up the Fastest Lift in Europe(TM). Unlike my first white-knuckled ride up to Duck & Waffle a year ago, I am now able, thanks to far more return trips than are good for my liver or my wallet, to have my eyes open for the entire thing.

SushiSamba, its South American sister downstairs, never felt like my kind of place; perhaps I had, unfairly, visions of the superficial, celeb-chasing likes of Nobu and Sake No Hana, and considered it a useful "filter" to prevent that kind of crowd creeping up to where the real magic happened. But also, I'd seen the prices, and I'd read the reviews, and if I'm going to spend that much on a meal I wanted to make sure I might get something more in return than some faintly ill-conceived sushi-tacos and a nice view.

But SushiSamba now has a new chef, and in an effort to persuade us that there's life outside the 40th floor, the kind people who do their PR sent myself and three friends to see what he was up to. And from the very first mouthful of the very first thing we tried, as London's summer squall raged outside (the SushiSamba terrace was, sadly but understandably, out of bounds that evening), we were impressed. Well, at least, I was.

Amuse of salmon tartare and yuzu caviar (I'm guessing but I don't think I'm far off the truth) was aggressively seasoned, so much so that a starter-sized portion of the same mixture would probably have proved too much. But one mouthful managed to stay just the right side of overwhelming, and a little box of runner beans in a lovely, bright, light tempura batter were complemented perfectly by a fluffy truffle dip.

Wagyu beef gyoza were similarly accomplished, packed full of juicy, crumbly beef and with a good crunch on the casing. There were five of them, making sharing between a table of four rather difficult, but somehow we managed. Most of the dishes, in fact, came in 3s, 5s or 7s, meaning there was a lot of improvised chopstick-sawing going on.

Trio of ceviche didn't display anything as stellar as I'd eaten at Lima, but comparing just one dish to London's best ceviche restaurant is unfair. They were fine - the seabass one being the best, with the strongest leche de tigre (literally "tiger's milk", the base marinade of any good ceviche) but they all seemed a bit subdued, and a horrible cold, chewy lump of squid on top of the seabass didn't do anyone any favours.

I don't remember much about the tuna tataki, so it was probably perfectly edible and yet not outstanding. Looks pretty though doesn't it.

This "wagyu tataki" was great - a little fan of pink beef underneath an obscene (in a good way) slab of wobbly seared foie gras, and a quail's egg on top. Bags of flavour, each element perfectly timed, and an example of how to make foie gras work with Asian food (as opposed to sticking it on top of sushi rice, which is a bloody awful idea).

You may want to make sure you're sat down before I hit you with the next course, because I have something quite shocking to reveal. This is, I think, unless I'm missing some ingredient in the sauce there, an entirely vegan dish. And not only did I enjoy it immensely, but it may even have been my favourite dish of all. And it's vegan. Not even vegetarian - vegan. Perhaps I'm more of a sucker for presentation than I thought, because it is stunning isn't it, like four miniature herb gardens sprouting next to a lily pond. But no - it did taste as good as it looked, herby and fresh, and incredibly skilfully done.

By way of extreme contrast, the next couple of dishes were entirely meaty. Flank steak was nicely chewy and rare, although the herby coating was rather nondescript. Lovely pink lamb chops, though, in an umami-rich red miso paste, were much better.

If you think the "El Topo" samba roll sounds odd on paper - that's salmon, jalapeño, shiso leaf melted mozzarella (I know) and crispy onion - then you're not the only one. Ordered out of sheer curiosity it divided our table between those who found it sickly and bizarre (me) and those who loved it (er, everyone else). Still, wouldn't do if we were all the same, as my grandmother says.

I found far more to enjoy in the "Sao Paulo", which was a bonkers selection of pretty much every different type of fish on the menu, all chopped up into little slices with black truffle on top. Fresh fish, not too much warm sticky rice, and an eye for presentation. Nothing to complain about.

Sashimi was not particularly stellar, although by this point it could just be that our appetites were waning - they were probably fine. You might be expected to expect better than fine, though, for £22 for 9 pieces.

And it's the cost that is really the only significant worry when planning a dinner at SushiSamba. Food like this is never cheap, and shouldn't ever be cheap - truffle, foie gras, wagyu beef, sashimi-grade tuna, all these things need paying for. And once the small plates are stacked up and counted (not literally, don't worry - this isn't Yo! Sushi) you could easily find yourself spending more than you expected.

We didn't pay, so you can take this post with a pinch of salt or dismiss it entirely, as is your right. But I asked for the bill at the end anyway just to see what it would have been, and discovered with some surprise that all the above, with plenty of interesting sake and a good few cocktails, came to just under £80 a head. Not cheap, not cheap at all, but I don't think far off value for what had been a very enjoyable meal with one of the best views in London. And so for top quality South-American-Japanese fusion food, served with pride and skill, in London's 2nd-highest dining room, you can't do any better. Yet another reason, if you needed one, to take a trip up the Heron Tower.

What a great view. They could almost serve you tap water and bread rolls and it would get a 4/5.

What makes the restaurant a little bit special I thought was the waiting staff, our waiter gave us a guided tour of the menu and made sure we got exactly what we wanted and exactly how we wanted it. The Sea Bass was marvellous and the wine was the ideal compliment.

A similar vibe to many of the bar/restaurants in London, where you have a good mix of tourists, young professionals and also your experienced business types. The atmosphere was lively, but that did not detract from the quality of the evening. Fantastic.

Wow! This place really is impressive. The venue the views are breathtaking, and when you sit down for a few drinks a meal, you are pleasantly surprised once more.

The dining area is wonderfully decorated and the views are spectacular. The food is delicious and a table booking is a must on busy nights.

Look forward to returning to this place, especially with the upcoming warmer weather allowing visitors to enjoy the outdoor bar area.

Amazing food ! Amazing view ! Amazing place !
You have really to go to SushiSamba !!

Located just 2 min from Liverpool street station, this place can be great to relax in the middle of the day for lunch but also the evening to enjoy the city lights and enjoy the incredible Sushis and everything else which is on the menu !!
I had the chance to go there several times, so I could taste much of what is offered on the menu, and I have never been disappointed!

Last advice: plan your dinner long in advance because their reservation book is often full!

One of the best view of London to have a diner, at one of the last floor of the Heron tower, in the middle of the city (3 minutes walking from Liverpool Station)
The menu offers all the kind of dishes of a traditional Japanese restaurant and the quality is more than acceptable.
Basically, the prices are a little bit expensive but it's the case in every Japanese restaurant and according to the place that's fine...
I can't finish without recommend to you to go one floor upper to have a last Drink at the Cocktail bar of the 'Duck and Waffle' Restaurant.

This restaurant has a beautiful location and great views of all of London. The decor is also very trendy and modern. If you don't have a reservation for dinner, you're likely to fait a while before getting seated. I recommend trying their market vegetable tempura and for dessert, their assorted mochi. The flavours of the mochi change depending on what's in season - I've tried pumpkin in the past which was quite interesting!

I think this must be the only restaurant in London that gives you incredible views from the lift, bar and the restaurant. The lift just takes you to the 38th or 39th floor in the blink of an eye.
I'm sure the open terrace would be the best place to sit and and enjoy a sunny day.Not recommended for vegetarians (only) looking to have a complete meal. Those looking for the best of views and drinks would certainly enjoy.
The ambiance is worth the price you pay.

With a commanding and unparalleled view of the London skyline from atop the 39th floor of the Heron Tower, the U.S based Sushisamba sure knows how to draw a crowd. Shoot up quickly in the London sky via a lift and watch London fall beneath your feet in a mere matter of seconds before you enter either the Sushisamba restaurant on the 38th floor or the bar on the 39th. There's no denying that they've certainly done an incredible job with location and maybe could have the best view from any of their restaurants across the U.S and London. Look down up the Thames, the Tower Bridge, see the dome of the St.Paul's and the iconic Gherkin right next door -you could almost reach out and touch it.

The restaurant serves up an interesting mix of Japanese and Brazilian which is not very surprising given a sizable Japanese population in Brazil. But I'll leave the restaurant review for another day. The bar on the other hand has an eclectic design, an elegant atmosphere and a crowd who wants to be seen here and are dressed to impress. The lounge bar is divided into a couple of interior and spacious sections with incredible views and also a rooftop bar. But in order to keep drawing the crowd, they could innovate their cocktail list which is fairly limited and pedestrian. A few food platters of sushi and spring rolls will keep you occupied on the food front. But, a service charge for unsatisfactory service doesn't help their cause.

All said, Sushisamba's forte is the view it offers and that alone will keep drawing the crowds.

Menus is priced on expensive side but service food and views makes it worth a visit.

I must admit that what brought me to this restaurant were the views, but the food was equally amazing. We had one of the tasting menus and everything was great. Service was great too. It was a sunny and warm day, so I did not bring a jacket, but it was windy outside on the 39th floor. So, don't repeat my mistake, bring a jacket, even on a sunny day... and enjoy the amazing food and views.

Firstly, probably on everyone's mind why people come here, the views, however, the writing staff and food and great service made it an extraordinary experience. Visually the food is stunning and delicious. I could have stayed all day, just for the personality of the waiting staff. Shout out to Paola, our waiter for the late afternoon.

I went to Heron Tower as a belated birthday dinner with my friend, this Sushi Samba was incredible and very well priced! Definitely recommend, food with a view .can't go wrong!!!

The food here is unbelievably amazing. Probably the best sushi I have had ever. The location and atmosphere were 10/10, this place has views for days! The only downfall was the service the night I went. It was great when we got there, everything came out fast but then I guess our waiter left and didn’t bother telling us and we have no one serving us. It took forever to order a drink and even longer to get it. We ended up complaining and the manager did give us a complimentary drink and dinner with a view but since we were leaving the next day, it really didn’t make a difference. If you go, you will definitely have a great time but if you notice the service slowing down then I would let the staff know.

Amazing food, great views and attentive, courteous service. One dish took a long time to come out and the place was rather warm but all in all an amazing experience. For 2 people having a cocktail each and variety of dishes and a desert to share it was ~£200. You could easily go under or over that though depending on what you order. Fairly expensive but you get what you pay for. Highly recommended

Firstly food is genius and fresh and good quality cooking, all desserts must try Secondly atmosphere is funky, fun and noisy , typical place for family and friend not relevant for dating maybe Fancy place but hard to make reservation near window - yes can be perhaps you go there as couple ,small tables for 2 are positioned next to window. In nutshell it is small unexpected for dining and tables sit next to each other that I don’t like Lastly Service is general polite and warm welcoming with friendly staffs that I love the most ——— Overpriced for drinks and sashimi , menu is not fancy by decoration and diversity

Absolutely love the place. Great food and great attention to detail. The staff were always willing to serve and happily moved our seats when it got a bit hot. The food came out quickly and the cocktails were unique although still extremely tasty. We were also blessed with an amazing day to take in the view. The Limonero Dessert is pictured and it was exquisitely tasty. Make sure you get some tempura prawns.

We went to celebrate my daughter's birthday. It was the first time there. From the first step at the entrance we felt very welcomed. The environment was very nice with loud music perfect for celebrations. When we went to our table one guy came and said that he will be our servant. Unfortunately it was the only bad experience because he forgot about us.Our night was then again made perfect by a lady named Sofia who works at the back but she came with one of our orders and immediately made connection with us asking if we want photos. She was smiling and helpful and my opinion is that they need to bring her at the front of the restaurant.Overall I recommend the restaurant especially for celebrations.

Sushi Samba has a welcoming and warming atmosphere especially for fans of Japanese and Latin American fusion cuisine. That’s before you enjoy both rhythm and choice of music that has a touch of deep and house groove. We ate amazingly and a a special mention has to go to Giuseppe who was head bar tender on my first visit with my family and was rightly promoted to Supervisor by the time I visited again with friends a couple of months later. His kindness and professionalism has touched both mine and my guests hearts. His treatment of his guests as well as his staff has made our experience all that much better. I felt like I was home both times I visited the restaurant. We will definitely come back to enjoy the amazing atmosphere and energy Sushi Samba portrays to its customers.

Amazing experience at Sushi Samba. Staff are unbelievably helpful. From the moment we entered it was like being on the A List! Food was spectacular, from presentation to exquisite tastes, and there was more than enough to go around which isn’t always the case at high end restaurants. The ambience was great as well. Breathtaking views with balconies you can see the London skyline from. A fire pit, and the famous autumn tree. I’ve also been to the one in Dubai and it’s just as special. I’d recommend Sushi Samba to everyone who’s looking for that something special!

Sushi Samba in London is a special spot. From the moment you step onto their rooftop, you feel like you're in a mix of Japan, Brazil, and Peru. It's different and exciting. Looking at the pictures, it's clear they care about their food. The hand rolls with bright rice paper stand out. They're not your usual sushi, but they fit perfectly at Sushi Samba. The added fresh herbs give it a fresh and fun twist. The salmon sushi looks top-notch. The fish is fresh, and the rice beneath it is just right. And don't forget the wasabi and pickled ginger on the side. They add that extra punch and zing to each bite. In short, Sushi Samba is more than just a place to eat. It's where tradition meets something new. Every dish tells a story. It's a treat for the eyes and the taste buds. If you're in London, it's a must-visit.

If I could rate higher I would. Our waitress was just in training but she couldn't have done more to go the extra mile for us. When my boyfriend asked about Sake she bought out the professional to help him which was a nice touch. And when she found out it was our 10 year anniversary she arranged a little cupcake for us to enjoy which made me feel very special (I wish I could remember her name but the cocktails are strong!) This was our fifth visit to Sushi Samba Heron Tower and the food was extra good this time! The bar terrace and the lift are always my favourite photo opportunities. We always leave feeling happy, well fed and well respected, which often we don't get as a young couple. We will continue to come back to celebrate our life events here 🥰
