We had a brunch here a few weeks ago. We were seated straight away and warmly welcomed. The food was great. I would recommend the potatoes and egg dish.
A nice cosy café, good for casual catch ups and some downtime with a laptop. The light mains are authentic and reasonably priced. For 5 pounds you can get a lovely soup with sausage and bread. The sachertorte is my favourite item on the menu. This classic Austrian cake is hard to find anywhere else and is executed to perfection at Kipferl.
Excellent food, really authentic and fair prices. The place is cozy and the service friendly and professional. Can definitely recommend the place if you want real Austrian/German food!
I love Kipferl!
Being German myself and having travelled to Austria a few times I can only recommend this Austrian Coffeehouse. Fast and friendly service, nice decor, and amazing food! I absolutely love the breakfast choices they have, but would definitely recommend to reserve a table! Its always busy!
Their Wiener Schnitzel and Kaiserschmarren, or Topfen mousse are to die for! Also a great spot for a Sunday afternoon "Kaffee und Kuchen"
If you havent been to Kipferl yet, give it a try! I can only recommend it!
I've only tried their desserts and so far so good. I had the Apple strudel and sachertorte with camomile tea. The place is nice and simple and the selection of food feels homey. However the service was very slow when I went considering that it wasn't even busy. But I shall come back and try their main courses!
Islington is one of my favourite pockets of London, the independent shops, cafes and bakeries on Upper Street always have me daydreaming about living there. Walking through Camden Passage, brought this longing back to me! We had brunch at an Austrian/Viennese cafe called Kipferl, and sat by the terrace soaking in the sun with our french toast drenched in maple syrup.
I prefer coming here than joining the masses queuing for the Breakfast Club- My French toast came with a tiny side of apple compote, and my coffee cup had a mini piece of Milka too. We got a prime spot by the terrace where we caught the sun as we chatted over our meal. The cafe was busy but not overbearingly so. I love this gem of a spot- give it a whirl!
Hot Chocolate. Hot Choc w/Rum

Delicious.
Well worth a visit. Enjoyed a great cup of coffee and breakfast at Kipferl on Saturday. Menu is varied and friendly staff were happy to give more info to help narrow down the decision on what to eat. Will need to return a few more times to try some of the delicious sounding cakes on offer
I am a bad Austrian. After one year and about 130 posts, I have not blogged about a single Austrian restaurant/cafe in London. I have been wanting to go to Bistro Delicat in Battersea forever, but somehow it just never happened. The other noteworthy Austrian etablissement in London is Kipferl . A little cafe just behind the Barbican it has achieved some critical acclaim for its cakes and coffee. Now, while walking through the Antiques Market in Camden Passage last weekend, I stumbled upon a second Kipferl . What is ' Kipferl ' you might wonder, after you probably have unsuccessfully tried to pronounce it. A Kipferl is a very Austrian thing, it is something to eat and it's all about the crescent shape. HungryinLondon is not only about fun but also about education, therefore here a little history lesson for you: The Austrian Kipferl is said to be the ancestor of the French Croissant. Marie Antoinette, the daughter of t
For something a bit different, head to Kipferl, situated in the quirky Camden Passage. This Austrian/Viennese cafe has a relaxed feel to it. The cafe area is at the front and the small restaurant area is at the back. The cake counter divides the two areas. The restaurant area is casual too. There are a few seats outdoors. The staff were friendly and gave service with a smile. They were great at recommending dishes, so that we had enough to share but were not over ordering. The spinach dumpling sounded interesting but we weren’t sure whether to have it as a starter or to have it as a second main dish. It was good that the staff said that the starter portion to share would be enough, even though you only get one dumpling! If we had ordered it as a main, then we would have been struggling to have room for some of the other food and drink. The spinach dumpling was topped with toasted slivers of almonds and grated organic mountain cheese. It came with brown butter and a green leaf salad. Th
Kipferl feels like an adorable Austrian chalet tucked away in Camden Passage. Inside, the walls are covered in light wooden panels and there are ornamental mountain goat skulls and old wooden skis on the walls which gives the place a very lovely classic look. The service is great and the waiters are helpful in guiding you with the menu which is filled with classic Austrian cakes, pastries and coffees.
Their cakes are true to their traditional recipes and they taste great. I absolutely recommend trying their delicious Apfelstrudel and Zachertorte which tastes just like the zacher I had in Vienna. Their coffee is also really good and can be served with delicious home made whipped cream.
A simplistic and clean austrian cafe with friendly service. Food is pretty simple - meat and potatoes if that's what you are going for.

+4.5
I went to this place with and Austrian friend that felt very strongly about this place. I was not disappointed. The only thing is that we had to wait 20 minutes to get seated but that is a usual thing in this area. I just had a cafe Viennois and a some blueberry pancakes which were both very good. The pancakes in particular were delicious. This is a good place to go on a rainy sunday afternoon for a chat with a good friend and a craving for a sweet food. The place is comfortable, warm and cosy. Loved it.
An Austrian cafe & kitchen serving delicious and inventive food in great portions for quite cheap prices. They offer an excellent service as well thanks to a friendly and easy going staff. This place is highly recommended for your next week-end brunch - as their breakfast & brunch menu is absolutely delightful!

Had a great dinner with friends at Kipferl.
Great beer selection and great Austrian food.
Great quality/price ratio.
The service was impeccable and the whole team has been welcoming. The desserts are spectacular.
Definitely coming back!
The food is exactly as the picture. I would argue it is authentic but not necessarily full of flavour. It is what it is so if you are curious about how Austrian food taste like, i would recommend. The Wiener schnitzel is pretty much veal or chicken Katsu with no sauce. Sausage is pretty much similar to german sausage. That’s the best way to describe the food. Service was amazing and plenty of sitting. Pretty expensive for what it is.
Our visit yesterday was truly exceptional. The food, service, your treats, and the overall atmosphere were outstanding. As the one who organized the gathering for my friends, I had high expectations, and once again, you did not disappoint. We will definitely come back again.
Lovely restaurant with a great atmosphere, really nice and attentive staff and the food, wow! A little bit on the pricier side, but definitely worth it! I had the Spinatknödel and took a slice of cake home, portions are very generous and both were delicious! Also extremely excited to find Almdudler on the drinks menu! 😁 Definitely recommend!
Kipferl did surprise us in an excellent way! We were welcomed by friendly staff and our food arrived very quickly and everything was very tasty! I felt like I was in Austria 🇦🇹 with all this authentic food, and lovely Austrian people running the restaurant. Can’t wait to go back and try more dishes and desserts. Danke sehr 🙏🏼
🌱 Kipferl is an Austrian restaurant located in Camden Passage in Angel.
There is indoor and outdoor seating and when I visited (weekday evening) it was fairly calm with plenty of available tables.
Good atmosphere, nice staff, and fast service.
Our group did not feel rushed by the staff and we could have long uninterrupted conversations.
As an Austrian (&vegetarian) I was very excited and had a hard time choosing a dish. 😁
I ordered Spinatknödel.
It looked very promising but lacked salt and hence flavour in my opinion. It got better after adding salt but I wouldn't necessarily order it again.
It was served with some melted butter and salad.
I would prefer seeing Knödel with a sauce (e.g. mushroom sauce) on the menu, since eating Knödel by themselves feels a little dry.
I ordered one can of Almdudler (which is a popular Austrian soft drink) and one main and ended up paying £24.
While the portion sizes were good, the prices are towards the higher end.
I don't think I'd become a regular here but I might give it another try and taste some other mains or their cakes & pastries.
Nice place for some traditional Austrian food. Serving a variety of Austrian saussages as.well as some nice beers. Great for a.stopover if you're in the area.
If you are looking for authentic Austrian food, look no further. This is a gem in the beautiful Camden passage in Angel. This beautiful restaurant will transport you to Vienna and the rest.
Having been in Austria few times I can tell you I just felt I was there. Austrian wines, cakes… amazing food.
Go for lunch, dinner or cake.. you will be surprised either way.
The beef cheeks were so tender, and the cakes a dream.
Popped in on Saturday to enjoy an early birthday meal (60) with my wife. Great authentic Austrian cuisine in a relaxed and unpretentious venue. Super, thank you team.
As Austrian I can say, this makes me feel like home while being in London. It's cosy and lovely, staff is very nice and some of them even speak German. The Schnitzel is of course a classic, but also the Gröstl is very good. Or do it as a real Austrian would do and order the Kaiserschmarren as a main instead of a desert. And do not forget to order salat with pumpkin seed oil.
Fischer’s takes you back in time to a bustling Hauptbahnhof bistro, Kipferl brings Austria in the flesh & fruits to you!
A menu of all the staples and the delights with a konditorei selection to dream of!
I’m very proud to be an undefeated schnitzel eating champion, and the portions here are very worthy challengers!
Cherish your visit!
I don’t even know what words to choose to express how amazing our dinner was. I usually don’t eat that much but this was too good not to. As an Austrian in london I really felt at home, and didn’t ever think I’ll get that kind of true austrian food here. Hubert the owner is so friendly and even made us an off the menu desert which was so good I really hope he puts it on! Ibrahim and Katharina served us so well, they were so kind, friendly and took time to chat with us. I’m leaving this dinner with a very happy tummy and heart!
Kipferl is my favourite restaurant in London. The food is delicious and authentic. The cakes are the best you'll find anywhere in London (try the Esterházytorte!). Service has always been super friendly and quick. Highly recommended!
🇦🇹 Austria 🇦🇹 done right!
Hubert and the Kipferl team make you feel like you have been transported to Tirol the moment you step through the door.
This magic is matched by authentic Austrian cuisine which ranges from Käsekrainer to Wiener Schnitzel and many more.
There is also an array of fantastic cakes which are fantastic on photo but even better in person.
There is also a small “store” to stock up on your favorite Austrian larder items such as pumpkin seed oil and some excellent wines!
Thank you Hubert and the Kipferl team for bringing a corner of Austria to London.
Austrian done right! 🇦🇹 tasty schnitzel, parsley potatoes with cranberry sauce followed by a delicious chocolate and apricot cake with ice cream 😍
Great little spot. A little pricey, but quality food and speedy service. I would recommend!
