After absolutely loving their Edinburgh restaurant, I couldn't not visit one of their branches in London..and needless to say I wasn't disappointed at all..
The Margaritas are to die for, loved the mexican beer with classic chelada.. it's a heaven for vegetarians.. sweet potato and feta taquito is a must have!
Can't recommend the place enough - quirky, fresh and zingy..

wahaca is one of the good places to have dinner and have some drinks without spending a lot of money!

I really like their mexican food and their incredible service! And the good thing is that you have it all around London, so if you ever in doubt to where to dine, give it a go!

Quesadillas, Tortillas, Guacamole, everything is worth it!

I initially didn’t plan to write a review of Wahaca.

We went there kind of by default on a Sunday evening when there simply wasn’t enough food in the fridge to cook dinner, and everything else in the neighbourhood seemed to have already closed.

But then, just like the first time I visited, the utter brilliance of it all hit be. I tend not to be the biggest fan of so-called “chain restaurants” (which I most often than not find a bit “meh”) but Wahaca is most definitely an exception to that rule. So I obviously HAD TO write about it.

Also I fell in love with Frijoles, and that was in itself enough of a reason for a review!

At an event around the corner and eager for a sit down and some yumminess, I was so pleased to find a Wahaca for lunch. Prompt service, tasty taquitos (I had the chicken ones *and* the sweet potato and feta ones - both were good, but the veggie ones were the best!), a chilled bottle of beer and a nice old pile of chips and guac. Lunch done right.

This Wahaca is bigger than most and has a great, fun atmosphere which is maintained by the chains many distinctive and quirky features. A laid back feel is created from the moment you enter by the ping pong table by the entrance. The theme is carried through the restaurant which is brightly decorated and has plenty of character.

As does the food. I was with two friends and we ordered the sharing platter which included the pork tacos and chicken Caesar tostadas. We ordered a couple of extras as well like the festive taquitos and plenty of the restaurants signature black beans. All were unsurprisingly tasty and delicious, very well cooked and flavoured Mexican food. We washed this down by obligatory frozen margaritas which came in unfussy tumblers and were strong and tasty. The service was fast, and our table had a constant stream of food and drink coming to it.

A great, indulgent night, in a great environment.

There are very few good Mexican restaurants in London and Wahaca is one of them . Fancy a good burrito or tasty tacos Wahaca is the place to go to. Wahaca has few branches but I have only been to the one in Islington. The place is done up very well and interiors is very colourful and catches your attention. The staff gives you a table as you enter and the service here is pretty fast. The crowd is also  very mixed .

The  Wahaca guacamole with chips is good to start with. The grilled british tacos are quite tasty.I recommend you try the chipotle chicken quesadilla and the grilled corn.
The churros here are yummy.

The place is not very expensive and gives good value for money.

Wahaca is a restaurant with a really nice casual atmosphere and it's a great place to come to dinner with friends. Their Tacos and Quesadillas are great! I definitely recommend trying the steak Tacos and the black bean Quesadillas which are delicious!

They also have a great selection of drinks and most importantly, they have a wide variety of margaritas. I tried the hibiscus one and thought it was really good, their classic one is also really nice and perfectly compliments the food. I also definitely recommend trying their churros and chocolate which was really delicious. The churros are small so they're not too filling and the chocolate was really good.

Wahaca isn’t your typical bland 'Mexican' restaurant. Instead the food is an explosion of flavours formed through the fusion of different herbs and spices. We had a series of tapas-like platters of street food and the range of ingredients, textures and flavours was amazing. The main courses are so large (as I saw from adjoining tables) that I recommend that you explore the dishes by ordering one of the platters. These are great to share and allow you to try a variety of different dishes.

The restaurant also boasts an interesting range of tequila cocktails. I chose the tamarind cocktail and it was especially tasty with the anticipated kick! The service was quick and friendly and I really loved the vibe of the place.

Wahaca is a restaurant that I will definitely revisit due to the great food and the slightly quirky nature of the place.

A taste of Mexican cuisine at its finest! Wahaca is a must must MUST go for anyone who enjoys Tacos, Burritos, Qaesadillas and a nice chilled glass of the all time mexican favourite, margaritas! Wahaca satisfies all the needs and wants of a mexican foodie. To begin the meal, they welcome you with a generous portion of chips, salsa and guacamole, something you just can't get enough of and believe me, you will go for seconds, thirds and most likely fourths! Their service being impeccable is another bonus! Having your meal being served to you within 10 minutes of placing the order is truly something commendable! If you're like me and want the food you ordered to magically appear on your table once the orders been placed, Wahaca almost satisfies those needs!

The colourful and vibrant interiors not only liven the mood but add a sense of comfort and closeness. With ample amount of space, entertainment and delicious food in all their restaurants, Wahaca is a place I would recommend to everyone!

The first memory that springs to my mind as I write this post has nothing to do with London; it dates back to the six months I spent on a student exchange in France, long before moving to the UK. Back then, I had a Mexican friend, whom I remember as one of the quietest, sweetest people I ever met. When it came to Mexican cuisine, however, she was as opinionated as I am when pizza or ice cream are at issue. The food we know as Mexican, she claimed, is what Europeans and Americans believe to be Mexican fare: you’re as likely to see a Mexican cook burritos at home, than to catch an Italian add cream to their carbonara. I wonder what she would think of Wahaca, then. Would she enjoy eating there at all?

My very first visit, around three years ago, wasn’t a dazzling love at first sight. The Covent Garden branch, with its spacious basement turned dining area, had me wonder if time had turned back, and I had just stepped in the depths of my former school canteen. Sure, I liked the food – but there was something uncanny to eating it in a windowless room, watching waiters hurry from table to table as the Saturday night hullabaloo unfolded. Since then, I tried the glitzier and more sophisticated Soho branch, and recently visited the Islington restaurant. I loved its relaxed atmosphere and funky decor, and enjoyed perusing Wahaca’s wide ranging menu once again, in search of new dishes and flavours.

Quite cleverly, Wahaca recommends making a meal out of two or three dishes from its Street Food list. This option yields good value for money and a touch of diversity, as you can share your picks with your mates. I’d normally jump at the chance of trying six different recipes in the space of one dinner; however, I was extraordinarily hungry that evening, and so was my partner – and this called for an extraordinary dinner: one street food dish each, followed by a main course.

As my partner enjoyed his plantain tacos with black beans and feta, I discovered the highlight of my evening: a quesadilla filled with soft steamed potato, oozing melted cheese and fiery chorizo, all seasoned with a generous sprinkle of thyme. The flavour was so delightfully rich, I could have gone for seconds – but the time to taste our main was fast approaching. We both went for pork pibil: marinated pork served in a parcel, flavoured with Mayan spices, orange juice and hot chilli. The meat (soft, juicy, loaded with spice) fully met our rosiest expectations. Sides of green rice and black beans complemented it quite well, although I found them slightly too cold for my taste. I put this down to to a busy night’s mishap, which didn’t in the least spoil my experience: I would reorder and recommend the pork pibil without hesitation.

Been to this Wahacca quite a few times already, main reason - it's cosy, it's well located and both food and staff are great! And added bonus - spookily cute El dia de los muertos decorations đŸ©”đŸ‘»

The guacamole could’ve used some jalapeño’s, salt and a little more lime. The sweet potato toquito was absolutely insane, crispy shell with a gooey spicy cheesy filling, covered in spicy mayo with cool sour cream, it was stunning. The butter milk chicken taco were nice too, had a nice Cajun spice to them. I tried the crab but personally wasn’t a fan was almost like a tuna mayo on a crispy tortilla felt lazy from the chef there. Everything else however was on point! Great service too everyone very polite and had great smiles. Would definitely be back and really recommend.

Very happy about this restaurant. I did like the flavour af the different tacos (I didn't had mexican often so I wouldn't know about the authenticity but it did taste good). The service was quick and precise, the food was well done and well presented. We spent less than 80ÂŁ for 4 people having a really good amount of tacos, nachos etc (no drinks).

Love Wahaca, this is the second one I've been too. The food is truly excellent and the layout of the Islington branch feels open.

Just had dinner around 8.45pm, I expected way more people for the "cinco de mayo" in a mexican restaurant but anyway the atmosphere was good with great music. Crab Tostada (ÂŁ7,50): 6/10 Buttermilk Chicken Taco (ÂŁ7,75): 8/10 Chicken Burrito (ÂŁ12,50): 8/10 - extra guacamole (ÂŁ1,75) - grill cheese (ÂŁ1,25) Basil Mezcalita (ÂŁ8,25): 9/10 Service Charge 12,5% (ÂŁ4,87) tot. ÂŁ43,87 Overall the food was nice, luckily getting better in sequence. The crab tostada didn't have much flavour, but the tostada was super crunchy. The taco had many flavours blending together perfectly and I enjoyed it a lot. The burrito on one side was amazing due to the chicken taste, nice and unexpected; on the other rice and beans lacked some kick. Basil mezcalita was just amazing.

Tacos are my fav food so the bf surprised me with a trip here, they are yummy!! 🌼 The simple fact they have vegan plantain tacos gives them an extra star on its own. The churros and dessert were also good, I’d defo go back for more! My bf’s quesadilla left a lot to be desired, however the scrumptious nachos made up for that. My only gripe was the time it took to get serving staff to notice us if we wanted something or to pay the bill. The menu is also not very clear - I ordered 3 different types of tacos as it says to order 2-3 per person, however the menu doesn’t mention that you get 2-3 tacos per plate, so we had ALOT of tacos!

Amazing experience in london. I’ve been there so many times I’ve lost the count. It’s a must have if you’re in the city and you want to try something different (if you’re full of local food). The place it’s loudy -in a good way- and invites you to have a good time with good music and tasty coctels. We tried the guacamole, tacos al pastor, cochinita, halloumi tacos and the one with mushrooms. Also we ordered horchata de arroz, agua de jamaica and an amazing pasion fruit margarita. Btw they have so many different options for veggies đŸŒ± Ps.: it’s kids friendly! đŸ€ŁđŸ˜œ They have high chairs, kids menu and an entertainment kit. ♄

Beautiful little restaurant, got the lighting just right, great music. Possibly the friendliest staff I've ever had in a restaurant, so chill and very helpful. I didn't have to ask for a thing, they checked at great intervals. And the food is to die for. If you think you like Mexican food, Wahaca will make you love it. Great for vegetarian options as well, pretty much everything has an alternative - and they even mark how much of an impact your dishes have on the climate!

Was served by a Lovely staff member named Kendra, really attentive. Needed my drink changed and she sorted it with no issue. The food was amazingggg as per usual!! I always order the pecan brownie, it is the best brownie in London hands down!! The only reason I’ve given 4 instead of 5 is my steak and cheese taco came out relatively cold.

A little pricey but really good food. The margaritas were amazing. Girlfriend and I got the passion fruit and hibiscus margaritas and we highly considered getting more. I got the carnitas tacos and they were really good. Would recommend getting the bigger meals tho

Have been to a few Wahaca restaurants, so thought we’d try out Islington. Staff all lovely and food was hot & fresh. The pork pibil was a little watery, but wouldn’t knock a star off for that. Our favourite is the sweet potato bravas! The hand washing station by the front door, should be in all restaurants!

We've had a little catch up with friends over dinner in Islington last Saturday. Wahaca looked like a perfect spot! Food was delicious and we were very quickly served. Prices are very reasonable for London but so are in all other wahacas 😉 If you unable to decide what to choose, try lovely Wahaca selection (£13 per person) It is quite big so if you are not hungry you can even share the one person's portion between 2 of you. Also if you are fan of g&t you should try their Hibiscus g&t! Classic mojito is also very decent 👍 All in all, we've had a lovely time and paid only little over £20 per person with drinks Well worth a try I'd say!
