Best seasonal British restaurant in London.
Can't fault anything about Hereford road.
Excellent service, food was well executed and seasoned well. Lamb rump with anchovies and runner beans was definitely the highlight of the whole meal
Can't wait to come back.

The lunch deal is such good value! Surprised how cheap it is for the service they provide, quality of food and nice relaxed atmosphere. Definitely recommend

Hereford Road has been on my list for yonks! If there’s one place that is at the top of my “must go list” it’s St. John. So with the former head chef of St. John helming Hereford Road it immediately piqued my interest. But for a suburban panda there was rarely a chance for me to venture off to Notting Hill Gate but I’ve always been tempted by their set lunch deal. However, instead, we decided to make the journey on a quiet Tuesday night where the relaxed but comfortable setting and friendly wait staff made Hereford Road seem more neighbourly and local than Zone 1.

I for one need it.  I need to put dark thoughts behind me.   A light, airy and dramatic dining room was the order of the day.  With high ceilings and a massive round sky light in the roof, I think I almost got a bit sunburnt.  Quite a feat in typically sunless Britain.  Must be the magnifying efforts of the glass.  Helps you make out the detail in things, like how good the food is.

Hereford Road is a classic spot in the neighbourhood of Notting Hill serving top-quality British cuisine. The restaurant has succeeded in maintaining a high reputation which led it to earn a spot on my to-go list. Luckily, it wasn't too difficult to make a reservation so I headed there with MRG for dinner. The restaurant is nicely situated on a quiet high street in a predominantly residential area (not too far from the Ledbury); it's kind of like the neighbourhood's best kept secret!

I’ve walked down Hereford Road countless times, and never gave its namesake restaurant as much attention as it would have deserved. I can almost hear my brain turning first impressions (bright and spacious interiors; elegant design; staff in neat, smart uniforms) into a snap judgement: “This must be a place I’ll never be able to afford”. To the risk of spoiling the rest of my review: I can't begin to tell you how wrong I was.

Modern British Cuisine. A smaller place in Notting Hill, with great modern British Cuisine for a reasonable price. The waiters did know the meal ingredients (helpful if you have food allergies), were friendly and even so we had our table longer than expected did not complain. I recommend you have a reservation when going there but it is worth while. Somehow it reminds me of Great Queen Street, another modern British cuisine restaurant I like in Covent Garden.

Simplicity done well.. Food at Hereford Road is like food at the much heralded St John's, but at better value and nicer interiors. It is very much a neighborhood restaurant, specializing in British cuisine using the best seasonal ingredients. We ate in autumn and enjoyed some wonderful game and mushrooms. Service felt informal but friendly and knowledgeable.

I started with a quail, no fireworks, just simply roasted, timed carefully, well seasoned and was perfectly juicy. Mains was an equally simple red leg partridge, again roasted perfectly. The accompanying lentils and black chanterelles added earthy tones and flavour to the dish. However the sauce was rather thin, like a watery gravy. The table also had a braised whole roe shoulder and carrots (for 2 but can feed 4). It looked a bit home-style but the meat was beautifully tender and flaked away easily. With the rich gravy, this was the comfort dish of the meal.

This is the sort of place to come together with friends to eat and share... it's unfussy, no fancy presentations, menu is accessible and excellent value. It's hard to fault the food - the cooking is competently executed. But the simplicity, for me, made the overall experience lack some 'wow' and excitement.

We went when it first opened and loved it... Took my parents the other day and found the service very slow.

No regrets with the Wild Rabbit (14) at Hereford Road. It was beautifully moist and I enjoyed the combination with the aniseedy taste of the roasted fennel and an occasional punch of wild garlic. The waiter strongly recommended the Lamb Rump (15.5) as his favourite dish on the menu and we were glad we followed his lead.

Like a magpie drawn to sparkly objects I am constantly tempted by the gleam of shiny new eateries . Not only has this led to a fair few duds, it has proven to be a serious drain on the wallet hence this year I endeavour to be a little more discerning in my restaurant selection, letting others hit up places ahead of me before diving in. I am also keen to return more to familiar haunts like Sakana-tei , Bob Bob Ricard , The Ledbury or Bincho , where I know we'll be looked after and our money well spent. One such place that we have been frequenting for years but have neglected of late, is Tom Pemberton's Hereford Road . Tom was the former head chef at St John Bread and Wine, clearly evident in how the daily-changing menu reads - hearty plates of British produce - seasonal fruit and veg, sustainable line-caught fish and locally reared meat and poultry. Fan of offal that I am, I make a beeline for meaty grilled Ox Hearts or tender Veal Sweetbreads whenever either appear on the menu. The lat

As is the wont these days, Hereford Road operates an A4 single-sheet menu that allegedly changes each day according to what’s fresh in the kitchen (FYI – the daily menu is also updated on their website). Think St John, Bocca di Luppo, Great Queen Street,

Now, don't get me wrong. I love rediscovered, born-again, new-fangled British food as much as the next man. I respect the compromise of old and new, the feel for memory and season, the roots in history and soil. I like mutton,

There was a time in the last decade, where the concept of redressing Modern Brit cuisine around the starkly model which Fergus Henderson created, championed and subsequently turned into a culinary dynasty, was unique to the Hendersons. And those who cooked with Henderson. Eventually, these frontrunners adopted what is widely accepted as the St John way. Back in late 2007 (back when foodbloggers were a rarity, and the iPhone was 2G only… remember those days?), a little known restaurant named after the street it took residence, opened to rather pleasing reviews by the nation's doyens of critics. The simplistic, slick and focused cooking was more than redolent of the Hand of Henderson, and it was only natural to expect it; afterall Chef Pemberton was previously the head chef at Bread & Wine. In the four years or so since it opened, Hereford Road had grown to adopt the reputation of a dependable neighbourhood restaurant. It was always on my list, but which has eluded me for all of my blo

Tucked away behind a discreet red door just off Westbourne Grove is an eccentric boutique hotel called the Miller's Residence. It was here, amongst the assorted jumble and frilly antiques that seemed to cover every inch of space in this bizarre building,

Great spot for last minute "where to eat" moment. Fresh seasonal menu. Best value is lunch - think its 2 courses for ÂŁ15. Evenings are more pricy. Very good nonetheless

overall: the presentation might seem simple but the taste is immaculate & warm. great value 2/3-course set lunch on fri & sat. great place for a family meal. ham hock 🍖: comforting dish with bold flavours that complements each other. the saltiness of ham is balanced by the mellow mustard. the gherkins also add texture & sourness to contrast the mustard. hispi cabbage 🥬: no fuss cabbage. perfect texture & hearty butter flavour. buttermilk pudding 🍮: silky smooth texture. super duper milky flavour. who would’ve thought the sharpness of a single strawberry is all that’s needed to elevate the dessert. service 🍴: obviously understaffed since there’s only 2 front of house running the entire service, but their efficiency & attentiveness is top notch.

Consistently excellent. Faultless cooking, with a relaxed and informal atmosphere. I like the two-seat booths opposite the open kitchen, but there are larger tables and booths in the sunken rear of the restaurant, where a large round skylight lets the light in. I had potted crab, which is served warm, infused with butter and mace, followed by a lemon sole with roasted cauliflower and capers. Both were excellent. My partner had a starter of chicken livers with tarragon and green beans, followed by beautifully cooked lamb with celeriac, anchovy and rocket. All the dishes were delicious. Relaxed but efficient service. Well worth a regular visit.

Great food. We had the pork chop, beet and egg salad, potted crab appetizer, potatoes, and cabbage. Everything was delicious if you love butter. They also accommodated my 2 year old son despite it being fine dining.

This place was so great. Every bite was perfect. We had a reservation at 6 pm and by the time we left at 7:30 it was packed. We had 2 appetizers and the mussels were affordable and fresh and completely delicious. The partridge legs with lentils were also insanely good. Tender, perfectly salted, great flavor. Dessert: do not miss the honeycomb ice cream or the passion fruit sorbet. Both are excellent.

Hereford road restaurant is a nice cosy restaurant with a lovely interior. Staff are helpful and have attention to detail. Complimentary bread and butter was served before starters arrived. Food was absolutely delicious! Definitely recommend the pearl barley with goats cheese and also the pork chop with hispi cabbage. The desserts are nice too.

One of the best set lunches in London right now. Mackerel was cooked to perfection. ÂŁ16.50 for two courses and ÂŁ19.50 for three. Go before they put these insanely cheap prices up!

Came early (6pm), ate great food, went home satisfied. The leek-vinaigrette-walnut entree thing was devoured by the wife in seconds (which given she is a slow eater speaks volumes). I can recommend the onglet (i.e. loin cut). Price was pretty good too…

The food here was pretty outstanding. Service a little nonchalant, but chef was attentive and served up some magic – highlight being the devilled kidneys.. sublime.

Michelin star Quality at a reasonable price Possibly the best meal I have had from visiting 4-5 restaurants a week for the past two months A traditional local Bisto that is well worthy of 1 Michelin star A menu with plenty of choice but ensures flavour packed food and an element of simplicity putting together majestic combinations of food glorious food Yet it’s done within a local bistro - favoured by locals ( naturally) delivering effortless service - with a reasonably priced wine list From visiting one star Michelin “Leroy “the day before ( which was disappointing in the extreme) it put a smile back on my face that has lasted all weekend and encouraged me to write this review
