Went here with family for a get together and really enjoyed it. The food is great for sharing and there's a lovely relaxed atmosphere. We were served by Mike at the St Paul's branch who looked after us well and was friendly and efficient. The food is good quality and reasonably priced. A lovely evening

So it was our first anniversary and i went to surprise my husband in his office. He was so happy that he gave me a surprise by picking a place for dinner. And it was wahaca. I loved the friendly and noisy vibes as soon as i entered the restaurant. Loved the food. We ordered the fixed menu for 2 which turned out to be amazing and over filling. My favorite was summer salad. But the dessert stole the finale.

St. Paul's is fast becoming one of my favourite places to head to on a Saturday with the arrival of the One New Change development. It's home to some fab restaurants (Barbecoa, Pho, Bread Street Kitchen), a brilliant line up of shops and it's even got one of my favourite rooftop bars, Madison's, on its sixth floor.

I visited Wahaca with a colleague yesterday and the food was delicious! The service was a little slow, and there was a mistake in our order, but that was rectified very quickly and professionally.

The food itself is very tasty and there is a huge variety of options. We had 5/6 dishes to share between us which was more than enough. Top tip: make sure you order the guacamole - it's some of the best I've ever tasted! We also had the sweet potato tacos (I think) which was sublime - it really was the best dish we had.

Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

cheap and cheerful place to go for Mexican street food/tapas - decent size portions and you can try a bit of everything!! Would definitely return and beats las iguanas in my opinion.

Even though it was payday weekend, I and my friends went for cheap and cheerful so we ate at Wahaca, a Mexican street food chain. We went to the St. Paul’s (City of London) branch as it accepted bookings.

Because it was Friday I didn't eat meat (Lenten duties) so I had veggie and fish based dishes. I ordered the Fresh tomato salsa & chips, the Fish a la Pimienta with sweet potatoes and Churros for dessert. I like the Fish a la Pimienta; I was expecting to receive a fillet portion but was pleasantly surprised to see more on my plate.  I only encountered 2 bones throughout my meal! I highly recommend the sweet potatoes as a side - well cooked and well enjoyed by me and the girls.

It’s a good place to casually dine; quite a bit of bustling. Given how busy it was I think Wahaca should have done away with the music as it got busier; it sometimes felt like the voices of conversation were competing with the music. Aside from this I liked the layout of the restaurant; it had three floors and did not feel suffocating. The service was good and efficient.

The food is yummy! Also decently priced. And for the adventurous soul, they had crickets last I was there. I'm not that adventurous.

But the drinks are good, do order the horchata. The British steak filling is great in burritos, and the frijoles with crema and grated cheese appetizer was to die for.

Fair warning though, portions are a bit small, and the chocolate sauce that comes with the churros is very very dark chocolate, I would recommend the ice cream if you want sweet, or the chocolate cake if you wish for sweeter chocolate.

Last week I was invited to come visit Wahaca’s new restaurant, and enjoy Mexican food for the first time! On 3rd October, Wahaca opened its doors at One New Change in St. Paul’s - the first City venture for Thomasina Miers and her award winning Mexican street food restaurants.

The 130 cover restaurant will be the first Wahaca site to take reservations, catering for the time-stretched local business market. Located on the first floor of the Cheapside development, diners can sample the group’s mouthwatering range of freshly prepared Mexican street food right in the heart of the city.

One New Change, just moments from St Paul’s, is also set to be Wahaca’s most sustainable restaurant to date after the group was recently voted ‘Sustainable Restaurant Group of the Year’ for the second year running.

The restaurant has a fantastic design and layout, with three tiers that really make you feel like you're outside, perhaps on a busy street or bustling food market. It evoked in me feelings of festivals, carnivals, and most of all fun. Team this with the crash and clatter of kitchen and I was transported to Mexico.

This layout’s effect on the mind was reflected in the amazing menu. Full of vibrant food choices and bold flavours, the menu has lots of choices for new Mexican eaters, non-drinkers, vegetarians and seasoned chilli pros. To help this the waiting staff are very open, happy to help, and want to communicate and explore the menu with you. We were seated by the lovely Mario and guided through our choices by the equally delightful Chevvy- who is originally from Canada where “every restaurant does some sort of Mexican food”.

Based on my lack of Mexican experience, we went for the Wahaca Selection which gives you: 3x pork pibli tacos, 1x broad bean quesadilla, 3 x chicken tinga taco, 2 x black bean tostadas , 2x new potato taquitos and Wahaca slaw. Provided in a tapas style selection with lots of plates of mini goodness, this selection is the perfect way to experience as much as possible for the best value. At just shy of £20, this is a fantastic option for first timers or those who love to share.

We also had a side of guacamole and nachos- and I hated avocado. Wahaca, however, has completely turned my thoughts around and has ignited a love for avocado in me that I never knew existed. Yes, a little OTT in my description there but I am now recreating that guacamole and eating it with everything!

The food was incredibly fresh and vibrant, bursting with hot, sour, sweet and savoury goodness. Although it can get a little messy at times (note to self, ask for more napkins) the dishes are completely faultless, allowing you to happily indulge in new flavours without feeling lost along the way. It feels healthy without restricted, allowing you to explore the different flavours individually whilst working excellently together. The dishes within the Wahaca selection have lots of bright flavours that tingle, cool, heat and excite the palette in stages allow you to dip in and out of having your mouth on fire with chicken tinga tacos to cooling broad bean quesadillas.

We also treated ourselves to pudding, sharing my favourite Spanish dish; Churros! They were really crisp and not at all greasy. Sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar, they were perfectly sweet without being overwhelming. Which was just as well as they were served with a gloriously sumptuous caramel sauce and well balanced bitter and sweet dark chocolate sauce. An absolute winner of a dish.

Mexican food is not an option I had ever thought to order, but Wahaca has changed my mind. Forget all formalities and British etiquette- this is get yourself involved food.

From my point of view, one of the best restaurants where they serve real Mexican food!! It really good and not too greasy. They have huitlacoche quesadillas, enchiladas, tacos that actually tastes like Mexican tacos. Service is good and it's good either for lunch or dinner.
Nice decoration! And definitely good value for money.
