Had a fantastic Burns Supper the other day at Boisdale. Surrounded by bagpipers, whisky and haggis. The meal was amazing, the ambience was perfect and the night was unforgettable!

Ahhh The T.G.I.F. lunch spot for their terrific line caught Cod Fish & Chips - so fresh, simple and delicious highlighting that tasty need not be complicated when done right by the Boisedale chefs accompanied with a glass of light, dry rosé. A place to return over and over.
One of the oldest whiskey bars in London, this is a true hidden gem. If you like your whiskey, cigars and jazz, welcome to heaven.
They have a 58 page bar menu with one of the most extensive whiskey and wine lists. What took me by surprise was the food. I didn't expect the level of brilliance I got. Having eaten at quite a few Michelin starred restaurants, I can safely say the dishes we ate here outdid at least half of them by a mile. The cocktails are brilliant too.
The jazz gigs they have going on add to the brilliance of the food. For starters I would recommend the black pudding and ceviche. If you don't like black pudding, please order it any way. I was pleasantly surprised at how subtle it was. The ceviche was of smoked haddock and just delicious! Fresh, cold and light. The perfect start to the meal. It came with quail eggs which were cooked to perfection as well.
For the mains, I had the chargrilled lobster and the garlic flavour along with the parsley and chilli butter was YUM. Again, was really light and beautiful as a main which made sure you left room for dessert.
There was this special of the day, foie gras with duck breast which was the most melt in mouth delish dish of the night. Not sure how one can re-order this, but my suggestion is to keep an eye out because this is the dish that outdid michelin restaurants for me. Hands down.
This place was recommended by a friend while I was in London as a good place to go for steak at a reasonable price. Upon arriving we decided to eat in the bar area rather than waiting for a table in the restaurant. We took a few minutes to look over the menu and ordered when the bar manager came over. He took our order and brought us over our drinks. After about 20 minutes we began to wander where our food was, although we weren't overly bothered by the wait. 5 minutes later the bar manager realised we hadn't yet got our food without us saying anything. He came over, apologised, gave us a round of drinks on the house and brought us some bread to be going on with while we waited. I have to say it is very rare to see service like this. You usually have to complain to get anything like this. 5 minutes later our steak arrived and I have to say they were amazing. Mine was topped with a duck egg and shavings of black truffle and accompanied by bone marrow. It was delightful. I have only ever once had a better steak which was in Smith & Wollensky in New York. That steak cost me £50 and didn't come with anything other than the steak. The steak at Boisdale came very close to this and was a much more reasonable price. Very impressed.
Despite being the size of a postage stamp, The City appears to have more crammed into its mere square mile than anywhere in London. Moreover, with so many restaurants, bars and coffee shops to choose from, it's generally a case of "if I can't trip over an
Live piano and singing. Great atmosphere. Went for the bookatable deal 3-course with champagne £30 pp, great price and big portion.
I enjoyed my visit to Boisdale in Bishopsgate.
It's easy to miss the narrow Dickensian alleyway which is probably why Boisdale doesn't draw the city masses to its Jacobean-style establishment.
Conversation can flow here without the need to shout over the music.
Tartan and dark aged wood dominates the smart bar at ground level. This is the place for people who appreciate the style of years gone by. The dark red walls give a kinda sexy vibe if you ask me. Hip kids, you might want to stay in Shoreditch which is just 10 minutes walk away.
Dinner is served on the floor below. Judgement on that will be passed on another date.
The deep citrusy notes of the B.O.B Sangria is a good starter. But I get the feeling that this is the sort of place where whiskey and cigars rule the roost. Like I said, for people with taste that can only be refined over the years.
This is a place for grown-ups. Dates, business talks or just a chill evening with a glass of your favourite red works just as well here at Boisdale in Bishopsgate.
Six Stars! The staff? Polite, professional, helpful friendly. The food? Fantastic Balanced.
Music? Live jazz- wow! Prices? Reasonable.
Environment? Vintage Classy Cosy.
A memorable experience- a short trip to 1920s New Orleans alcohol prohibition times.
Really enjoyed the experience here. Deco was amazing, food is a bit pricey but the quality is amazing. Staff were extremely nice and friendly. Not a fan of the music charge but wasnt too bad
Food and atmosphere was great. Tipped heavily.
If there's a live act playing try to remember to put your knife and fork down and show your appreciation/applaud when appropriate. Undervalued
Amazing place. Very cool. Lovely food whilst listen to a live jazz band .
Fantastic service, food and cocktails plus great live music! Down a small alley, make sure you dont miss it!
Nice place, a bit on the expensive side, but food was good! Had the lobster Mac and cheese, wasn't as good as I would've expected, but I do prefer spicy food.
Excellent place. Very intimate speakeasy vibe about it. Friendly staff. The artists are right next to you while you eat great food and even came to have a chat with us afterwards as we were the last table left. I thought the price was fine for what you get. You could spend a fortune in here if you hit the wine / whiskey menus, but it'd still be worth it. We saw Lucy Merrilyn, who was incredible. A real up and coming star.
Went there for a live jazz/blues brunch on a Sunday and I couldn't recommend it more highly. Music was fantastic, drinks great and food tasty (I would prefer to see a bit more variety on offer but that's not big issue). Also staff is really friendly and helpful and the overall atmosphere is great.
Lovely environment and wonderful live jazz music from Tuesday to Friday...
Went to this place for the first time and was genuinely impressed. The service is brilliant, they can't do enough for you without being overbearing. Three of us had steak (different cuts) one had lobster. All were cooked to perfection and tasted amazing! The wine list is decent and not pretentious. Loved the live jazz. And I'm not normally a jazz fan but it was quiet enough not to bother. It is expensive enough not to go to all the time, but if you want a decent good dinner, with good ambiance and faultless service this is perfect. Definitely one to share with friends.
Fantastic selection of whiskies & cigars. Hidden away in the city. Great service too
Absolutely fabulous Valentine’s supper. Wonderful authentic ambience. Great service. Wonderful food. Amazing genuinely talented jazz trio. And compared to some in same area, better value too. We will be back! :)
Great food and friendly service for their Xmas set menu
Found this place my accident, was actually planning on visiting the bar next door. The service was fantastic and after drinks at the bar we decided to stay for dinner, staff could not have beem more helpful as needed gluten free options (only down side was very limited on gluten free choices) loved the atmosphere the music was great. The food was good portion sized, and the coffee was great too. Will be coming back.
Blink and you'll miss it. This place is down an alley that's dimly lit, even in bright sunshine. Once you get inside, though, the ambiance is one of cosy seclusion. The tapas work quite well as starters, provided there are enough of you. The real stars of the show are the mains, though. I can personally recommend the Deluxe (but bring an appetite!). Sadly no room for desserts 😔 Overall, not cheap, but definitely worth it!
