Only had one cocktail here so can't give anymore than a three. I just tried a Negroni which was STRONG!! The food menu sounded interesting so maybe next time I'm in town I've an excuse to go back.
Outstanding gastro pub in a part of London full of great eateries. Upscale setting with an urban pub chic menu that runs the gamut from standard fish & chips through an excellent veal steak. Wait staff was perfect and the crowd lively. Worth the 3 minute walk from Holland Park Station
The Mitre is my absolute favourite place for a Sunday Roast, you can't go wrong when the Yorkshire Pudding is the size of your head!
It's a great, vibrant pub, with outdoor seating that's brilliant in the summertime.
Loads of space for large groups, great for families too. Do yourself a favour, get there on a Sunday and order that roast!
Great place for your roast. We supped at the mitre for our Sunday Roast and found the meals superb. Friendly waitstaff and thorough drinks menu made for a delightful time. The booths are spacious and it was more relaxing than the wobbly table and chairs often seen. This design was well thought through. It wasn't too loud either. The dessert menu was excellent, though after the roast it was difficult to make room, it is worth it to do so.
Great spot. Good food and wine. Very friendly services. Will be back.
Food: British
Price: Around £60 for two people
Atmosphere: Friendly, Busy
Review: This restaurant is a place to note for a meal/drink outside during summer. Indeed this restaurant beneficiates of a nice terrace in front of Holland Park where you can enjoy a nice beer and then go inside and have dinner.
Concerning the starter, the carpaccio is very nice to taste as well as the chicken. In terms of the mains, the curries or the lobster are really tasty.
If you think that you can still go on, cheeses or desserts will make you happy to finish your meal.
The restaurant is quite busy, especially during the summer period, I will recommend you to book it in advance if possible.
If I was to rate this pub on the Sunday roast alone it would get closer to 5 stars. The size of the Yorkshire pudding is unbelievable and what accompanies it is tasty too. Unfortunately I find the pub to be very noisy as it carries the sound and the restaurant can get very warm. Still, highly recommended on a Sunday
Absolutely loved it! Great location, fantastic service from Samantha and the team.
We visited The Mitre on a Sunday afternoon. We ordered Sunday roast (lamb, beef and pork)
Food was delicious! The portions are very generous. This place is worth a visit. We will definitely be going back!!
Nice pub not too far from Holland Park station. It has a great selection of beers spirits and wines and also serves food. Staff were friendly and welcoming. We came in to get out of the rain and ended up staying for a couple of pints because of the relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely come back to this pub when back in the area
Had an excellent experience last weekend, so much so we returned the next day! The food choices and quality was excellent, over the two meals we tried the chicken liver pate, charcuterie board, beef dripping chips, salmon tartar, pressed lamb belly and fish and chips. Not a bad meal anywhere, and we thoroughly enjoyed the salmon tartar, lamb belly with amazing brocoli puree, and the chicken liver pate.
But above the food, our service from Garron, was what made our experiences exceptional. His great personality and ability to handle picky customers' requests with ease and the perfectly judged level of sarcasm made our meals the most memorable part of our visit to London. Highly recommend a visit, and if you get Garron, you're in good hands!
Overall, a nice atmosphere, decent food and friendly staff when we visited on a Sunday lunchtime.
The portions were large too.
I would happily eat here again.
The nicest Vegan Roast in the area. £17, yes a tad pricey compared to other roast dinners around but they do the best Vegan Wellington and gravy. The roast potatoes are delicious and crispy and the veg are cooked perfectly. So delicious that we always have to get extra potatoes! Great for a special treat!
Amazing food, nice ambiance and close to our hotel. The staff could be better organized as it seemed like all of them were taking turns being host, waiter, and clearing tables. We waited a long time, 40+ minutes, to place our order. Once it was placed the food came fast but I had to ask the server if we could put our order in once they were close enough to get their attention. Recommend waving them down before too much time passes.
Popped in for a quick lunch. The food was really good. Lots of flavours and crisp fresh ingredients. I had the miso aubergine salad and my friend had the soup of the day. Our server Kenny was lovely. Friendly, efficient and polite. Overall a lovely place
Great place for lunch staff always really friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend a visit.
Smart gastropub not far from holland park station. Comfortable with good service. Nice relaxed crowd.
We do love our rituals of Sundays brunches or lunches.
Londoners are spoiled with so many choices offering classic, modern and experimental cuisines.
For us finding that place where you can return to for the delicious Sunday roast meals is important.
A welcoming place, where you do feel like having a home cooked meal or a unique happy food experience.
The Mitre is that place where the Sunday roast gives us than mmmm yummy home cooked feeling.
It gets busy here and the service can get a bit sloppy.
But the overall experience is worth coming back for sure.
After your meal I would recommend a walk in Holland Park specifically by the Kyoto Garden.
Great portion of food and the chicken sandwich tasted great , great fries as well .
Waiters are friendly but might still be in training . When they sat two of us at a 6 person table , they didn’t make room and take away 4 other sets of cutlery. Even after I move them to a side , no one seemed to have noticed nor have put the plates away.
Hands down the BEST roast I have ever had. The pork was out of this world - so tender when most pub roasts are dry but we just put up with it! But this roast really stood out from all the rest! It was cooked to perfection with fantastic crackling, all the trimmings and delicious gravy. The guys working there were such a lovely bunch, attentive and helpful and the pub in general has such a nice relaxing atmosphere. I have told all my friends about this place and will most certainly be coming back.
I stop by whenever I’m in town for the great food, ambiance and to see the amazing Samantha. From the fish n chips, steak or the pasta dishes you can’t go wrong. Nice selection of wines and tasty cocktails. Just get there early cause they fill up fast!
Beautiful terrace with natural flowers, nice location. We ordered salad with aubergine, spinach, feta cheese and extra chicken - it was delicious! So good that we even didn’t take any photo of it )
Fantastic roast and great atmosphere. Glad we finally decided to go in and try the food this weekend!
Really amazing Sunday roast and would definitely recommend coming. Everything was cooked to perfection and I would say that the meal definitely fills you up.
Exquisite food! We tried the following:
-Roast beef, horseradish cream - 5/5 ⭐️
-Short rib & flank burger, smoked Applewood Cheddar, burnt onions, bone marrow crumb, gherkins, with skin-on-fries - 5/5 ⭐️
-Sticky toffee pudding, butterscotch, maple pecans, clotted cream ice cream - 4/5 ⭐️
We would order everything again except the toffee pudding. It was good, but a bit too sweet for our liking. When we return (which will be soon 😅), I want to try the pork belly roast 🤤.
