Reviews Swan London

While it may not have been the absolute best afternoon tea I've experienced, I must admit, it offered fantastic value for money! What truly impressed me about the Swan's tea room, unlike many "restaurants with a view," was that regardless of where you sit among the cozy 10 tables, you are guaranteed a picturesque view of St. Paul's and the river. The selection of savory finger sandwiches was quite standard, but there were two delightful twists. First, they served a delicious Waldorf salad tartalette instead of the typical cucumber sandwich. Second, and pleasantly surprising, they proactively offered refills of sandwiches without us even asking. This considerate gesture was much appreciated, especially since we arrived quite hungry. Moving on to the scones, they were simply good – not served in a towel or brought out after finishing the sandwiches, but still enjoyable. The best part was the generous refill of clotted cream, enhancing the overall experience. Now, the sweet treats, which are often the highlight of any afternoon tea, were indeed the strongest aspect here. The assortment of desserts was delightful, and each one left a lasting impression. Considering everything offered and the prime location in central London, the price of approximately 90GBP for two, including service, is simply unbeatable. While it may not have been the absolute pinnacle of afternoon teas, it still stands as an outstanding choice, and I would gladly return for another delightful experience at the Swan.

Dined here with my teenage son as a walk-in on a Wednesday in August between our tour of the Globe and watching Macbeth. It was busy when we arrived so we could only be offered a sharing table or (slightly uncomfortable, as they were low down) sofa seats initially but we were pleased they were able to accommodate a walk-in at a busy time. A couple left shortly after we arrived so we moved promptly to sit at a table for our meal. We made staff aware we had an hour to dine before the show, so they took our orders promptly and the food took no longer than 15 minutes to arrive. Everything ran perfectly, staff were very pleasant and polite and the food was delicious. Prices were in line with expectations for the location and reasonable given the generous portion sizes. Overall a great experience in the middle of our great day out!

We dined before catching a play at The Globe and luckily came on a Sunday - the roast Scottish sirloin special was a hit! Others in our party opted for other menu items and the two and three course prefix menu and a few cocktails was perfect right before the show. Timed well, good presentation, and priced fairly. Some opted for tea before the show but we decided on dinner. We had better meals elsewhere in London but the service and convenience if you are timing it to watch a Shakespeare play at The Globe means we'll happily be back.

I met some friends for afternoon tea here next to Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. The view from the second floor was beautiful. Our server and supporting staff were attentive and very kind. The scones were amazing, the tea was incredibly vibrant and delicious as were the sandwiches. The variety of deserts were all very tasty. I know many visitors like myself want to have the "Afternoon Tea" experience and I was not disappointed, you won't be either.

Came here for private function and was given the top floor that has magnificent view of the city and St Paul. The menu was 5 course tasting menu. Overall, the food was bland and I think it could do better. Overall I think this is a nice place but good can be improved.

Took a trip to the swan for my birthday, honestly such a wonderful experience. The moment we stepped through the doors it was nothing but love. Dinner was amazing and the staff were just as good.

Oh what a charming place to have dinner! The Swan has gorgeous views of the Thames and is the perfect location for a delicious dinner with good friends, family you actually like (don’t bother taking your monster-in-law), or someone you love dearly (don’t bother with a first time Tinder date, I mean you can obviously but I would recommend coffee first). The service is excellent, perhaps a tad over-enthusiastic—they are your Girl Friday and ready at your beck and call, but nonetheless much better than you often find at places of this quality. They are just the right side of friendly without being intrusive. Now the food—the food was divine! So divine in fact that I failed to remember what we ordered specifically. However we started with a delicious beetroot starter with thinly sliced radishes, green pea shoots, and burrata cheese! I mean just look at the thing! It’s a piece of art! I had the puff pastry with spring vegetables and the pastry was flaky, tender, melt-in-your-mouth and the vegetables tasted as though they had been picked fresh that morning. My friend had the halibut and I wish I could tell you about it, but given the happy human noises he made while eating it (and the fact that he wouldn’t share) makes me assume it was lovely too. So if you have made it this far in this review, then well done, and do try the Swan! You will not regret it (okay you will if you take family members you dislike there, but I did warn you).

It is a modern British restaurant in Bankside. With amazing view to river Thames. I would recommend for special occasion or nice dinner date or lovely cach up with a friends as they have big tables too. We have booked a table in advance as it was a weekend and also lovely weather outside. I would recommend to do so too. Every single course we did enjoyed. Prices really reasonable and very good quality ( I would compare like A La Carte ). We had 3 course meal from Summer River View Menu. Before we ordered we had a complimentary very fresh and tasty Sourdough almond side with salted butter and Marmite butter. For starters we had Gazpacho , Cantaloupe Melon Carppacio, for the main Slow-Cooked Neck OF Welsh Lamb and catch of the day. And finally for dessert cheese selection for 2 people. Lovely selection of champagnes and Non alcoholic cocktails. We will back here for sure

It was a nice afternoon tea experience! Enjoyed the Shakespeare theme and the view was awesome. The array of options for afternoon tea were vast and you can get free sandwich refills 🥪

A family gathering for mums 80th and had a lovely afternoon tea. Our table was great and we were certainly looked after. The menu was exiting and if coming back I’d go for the savoury option of afternoon tea. Seeing this come out for other diners it looked amazing , alongside an ale what’s not to like 😋 Happy to have paid a bit more for the venue, service and afternoon tea after looking at other places online.

Loved it. Will go back. Fish and chips. Fish was absolutely delicious. Haddock; creamy, white and flaked when cut. The best fish I have had in a long time. Served wirh mushey peas. I would of liked to have had a salad with mine. Salads are served as main not as a side. Choclate truffles were delicious.

Wonderful relaxed and super friendly place - dog friendly, children friendly and even crochet friendly! 🤣 Food - maybe would like a few more things (e.g. there's a beetroot burger on the menu but no traditional burger option, there used to be a sharing plate with meats and pickles - that's gone) but EVERYTHING we've ordered was tasty and flavoursome! We had crudites with hummus, chips and an amazing sausage roll (I believe it's from The Ginger Pig in Borough Market). Drinks - definitely try their smoothies! I didn't get a chance to sample cocktails 🚗 Service and atmosphere - great! Dogs feel very welcome, get water quickly and love the abundance of food all around 🤣

We only stopped for a swift drink so didn't' get the chance to order any food. The staff were attentive and the patrons were relaxed, comfortable and having a good time.

Great place and elevates your experience when going to the Shakespeare Globe. Food is great, but the portion size could be bigger. Service was OK. It must be a UK thing where they don't come and check on you and or refresh your table. They seem very timid to come and check if you need a refill and or the bill. We sat for quite a while waiting on the bill in order to leave to go to the show. The overall experience was great and would go there again for sure. Oh, and the view over the water is amazing.

A really enjoyable time before going to a show. Our server, Alex, was excellent. Attentive, quick and friendly, and really showed that good service is available and adds to the experience. The food was really good, if a little expensive. We really appreciated being found a table for two on a foul weather night and being so well looked after.
