When you think of Whitechapel, it does not feel like a match to the nearby cool Shoreditch, Brick Lane and Spitalfields. Think again, as tucked away on the High Street behind a bus stop and bike lane is The Stable. It’s a cute joint with high ceilings and exposed brick work. A rustic and wholesome vibe is the setting here and this extends to the food. Pizza and pie, what more do you want to fill your belly. How about over 80 different ciders? The Stable is ‘bringing it’ and aggressively putting Whitechapel on the cool map. 80 ciders, now that packs a punch. It is certainly a way to define you from everywhere else locally.

The welcome is chilled but on the ball. The interior is comfy. I have always been a fan of low beer garden style tables as I am not shy and don’t mind sharing. The mix of locals and the odd creative office type provides a great seated neighbour.

The drinks list is simple and whilst populated with cider, it still offers a good selection of wines and other tipples. Although if you like apples, you are in the right place. Choices vary from dry, medium to sweet. Sounds like you are talking about a wine list, but any cider connoisseur will tell you the difference is noticeable. Cider makes me think of Summer; many a day spent in Shoreditch Park or London Fields, chilled cider and snacks, people watching and frisbee throwing, oh the memories.

You may think the food has its work cut out for it with such a strong drinks offer, but it delivers. As I said, Pizza and Pies are what is up for grabs here. Although they may be carb heavy, never fear, there are sumptuous salads too. For the pizzas, don’t expect to see the run of the mill options from your local pizza delivery place or pizza restaurant on the high street for that matter, these folk like to shake things up. The Stable have curated a menu that plays on interesting ingredients, in particular, focusing on great British produce such as West Country crab meat, mackerel from Newton Abbot and pork loin from Dorset.

We started with a taste of five ciders as it would have been rude not to. They have a rotating list of suggestions that they offer. I think it is a brilliant idea for those who have not tried Cider or are not convinced it’s one one. Magners is really not a benchmark for cider and I strongly recommend you come here to learn just what this fruit has to offer.

For our food, it was pizza time. You would have thought I had overdosed on this as I had done a lot of pizza visits of late, but this was a must. How often do you go somewhere and find unique pizza toppings. I opted for the Coppa Cabana which had the gorgeous toppings of Dorset coppa, pancetta, tomato, mozzarella, peppery rocket and Dijon dressing, yes Dijon dressing. My homeboy Chris had the King Crabber, which as hey were out of crab, they swapped in some big ass king prawns seasoned in red chilli, garlic and lemon. Tomato, roasted peppers, basil, mozzarella added to the toppings – finished with creme fraiche, YES creme fraiche. Literally, bravo for the bold choices on ingredients. I guess at this point I should say they were lush.

There are other things that make The Stable the spot in Whitechapel as they also have live music. Beyond the front area that you can see from the street, there is a whole other area at the back where there is an open kitchen. Go. Discover. I am totes coming back for some live music action and to try another non-norm pizza. Thank you Stable.

Art, beer and pizza! It’s a triumvirate adding up to a good time, especially when the art is amazing, the beer is refreshing and the pizza is yummy. Coinciding with the opening of the excellent Eduardo Paolozzi exhibition at Whitechapel Gallery, the Scottish born artist’s namesake beer – Paolozzi Lager – is making artful headway in London.

I'd finally returned for a short visit to my previous home of Whitechapel. It isn't easy finding new places in the area as it tends to be dominated by old curry houses (and for good reason). I was pleasantly surprised to see a new opening of a pizza and particularly cider dedicated space near my Qbic Hotel. They offer a good value lunch deal for only £6.5 including a pizza and salad. Add a half-pint of your choice of cider for £2.5 extra and you have yourself a great meal.

We wandered over to the newly opened Stable on Whitechapel Road for a cheeky lunchtime cider and pizza. The Stable is a new chain across the UK that takes pride in “best quality food” and a “keen interest in cider”. With over 80 ciders to choose from at this, the first branch in London, they’re not kidding. Most pizzas are £11.00 – £13.00 but there’s a lunchtime offer between 12-3pm on weekdays whereby pizzas and wraps are only £6.50...

My friend won tickets for a cider tasting and i was delighted to be invited along! MEL was very informative with the ciders and gave US a selection of gorgeous ciders suited to the flavours we told her we liked. The vegan platter and garlic bread were gorgeous, too. We have visited the venue before and the staff have always been friendly and welcoming. The open mic night is also great, it's the perfect venue for live music.

Serving up a range of unorthodox (but very delicious) pizzas, including several that are vegan. Sit back in the candlelit ambiance and enjoy tasting some of the 80 ciders they have on offer. This restaurant is fantastic for groups with bags of space, or if there's just a couple of you, grab a seat at the front and people watch.

Pizza is amazing. So crispy and tasty it blew my mind! Great choice of ciders for approx. 5£ a pint. We were on a Friday night and the live DJs taste on music was terrible but further in the back we were lucky not to hear him. If you're in the mood for a really good pizza try this place!

Great bar that serves only ciders and mostly pizzas. When you first enter the space is small, but there is alot of room in the back with another larger bar (which wasn't open when I was there) and the kitchen. You order your drinks and food at the bar and they will bring the food to you . I tried 6 ciders whilst I was there and love them all. Will definitely come back next time I am in London.

Avoid the crowds of brick lane and check out this place, especially at the weekend it's really relaxed and not busy. The range of pizzas, including multiple cheesy vegan options, were great. There is a range of bench style seating and you can order at the bar or from a app at your table. The app also gave a great discount; we had two large fully loaded pizzas and a 2 pint cider tasting board for £20 so £10 each. Would certainly return.

Amazing pizza and garlic bread, great service. I went by myself and had a great time, as the music is good, but not to loud to not allow me to read. Definitely one of my favorite places in London. Did not try any of it, but has a great cider selection.

Had a vegetarian pie and it came with a decent portion of salad with salad dressing and thick cut wedges of potatoes. Rather tasty and filling for under £10. Love the decor, imagine it to be quite popular during the week

Nice place with loads of cider options. Pizza was really nice although extra thin (it nearly was like eating rice paper)

The biggest selection of ciders I've seen in London. A lot of very perfumey ones, which weren't to my liking, but all my favourites were here too. It had a good vibe and a good crowd.

Great selection of cider. Went on a Tuesday, special offer £10 for pizza and half a cider. Live music was ok. Couldn't hear it in the back area. Had a cider tasting board 5 x 1/3 of a pint ciders of the bars choosing varying from sweet to dry. You get a little card telling you which is which Well worth a try.

A lot of good cider. Not a big beer selection if you were wondering, but can easily compensate with a variety of cider (there are dry, sweet, sparkling and still). Very good pizza also, been coming back to this place to eat.

Really like the stable in Whitechapel. Staff are friendly and welcoming, and the food is always good and they have a wide selection of beers. (Although I wouldn't recommend the cider taster.) Only downside is that the vegan pizzas aren't included in the Thursday deal. If it weren't for this, it would be getting 5 stars without a doubt.

Excellent food (pies and pizza). Staff were very knowledgeable and suggested a few ciders. Ended up getting the cider plank after the first one. The Stable is larger than it looks from the outside. The tables are well spaced and it was quiet enough to be able to hold a conversation.

Really nice place with an excellent selection of ciders. The knowledge staff can guide you to find your favourite cider of the 80 options. The food is also excellent with fresh tasty pizza. There is also live music two nights a week.
