This is a great place for exquisite Mexican food.
The Tacos are amazing with perfectly made guacamole. The burritos too are a treat to taste buds.
This place has great cocktails and wines.
Ending the meal with Churros is a delight and they probably have the one of the best churros in London.
Though the place is not very well lit, the atmosphere is nice and service is prompt.
So if you want your Mexican Fix in London, this is the place to be !!

Good ambiance, service, amazing food. The squid was great with the sweet chilli sauce. The pricing on the menu is fairy good. Asahi is a good beer to have while you binge on your food.

Had fish tacos and the superfood salad. The fish tacos were really good with the sauces, dry without. Superfood salad needed a dressing as it was very bland. Servers were great, really attentive and friendly and the location in southbank is great.

Wahaca is a break from the rest! There are many Mexican food joints in London but not quite like this one. Located very conveniently just outside Waterloo station, Wahaca does some mean cocktails and Mexican Street food. Very noisy and crowded always but worth a visit if on the offbeat food trail! Wahaca is one of my favourite restaurant chains, both for their delicious food and fun atmosphere. The restaurant itself is very colourful and modern, which I think helps improve your mood and get you excited for the cocktails and the food.

You can choose between smaller dishes to share or regular mains for each person, so it's great for groups and people who would like to try out a few things, and everyone else of course.

Another thing I greatly enjoy is that the food itself is tasty with great flavours but the mild food is actually mild. I am not a fun of very hot foods and this is exactly the level I like. However, my friends who love hot food were also happy with the level of spicy that the spicy dishes were at. So no matter what your tolerance is, you will find something for you.

I'd recommend checking one of their restaurants out and ideally going later so you can then stay for more drinks. Dinner before a night out would be ideal!

Wahaca surely deserves a ' Waah Waah ' from my side . Starting of with the mocktails I had their Mojito DF which was with a twist of tequila lime and apple . Then for the mains , Huitlacoche ( Quesadilla ) and also the Chipotle Chicken along with sweet potato and feta taquito. Too finish off withwe also tried their plantain Taco which was bit sweet and not the way we expected.

Wahaca is a Mexican chain founded by former MasterChef winner Thomasina Miers. I have visited a few of the branches across London but not blogged about one until now. During a recent work trip we spotted a Wahaca just yards from the hotel and dinner for the night was a no brainer. With Mexican food focused on sharing it was ideal for a party of three. The branch we visited was a small one in Waterloo and it was one of the more rugged branches I have visited when compared to its more modern Westfield Stratford outpost. After a short wait at the bar we were seated and it felt like we ordered the whole menu. The dishes began appearing with speed, just as expected with street food. We started with probably my favourite dish from the Wahaca menu, p ork pibil tacos, s low cooked in a Yucatecan  marinade with fiery pickled onions. With just the right amount of heat the tacos were piled high with the shredded pork. The other variation of tacos were chicken tinga, tender chicken in a smoky to

This was only my 2nd time at Wahaka and I love the chilled out atmosphere and the insane Mexican food.  You can either choose one of their bigger Platos Fuertes or you can choose from their smaller street food dishes to share (which is what we did).  I chose the pork pibil which consisted of three soft corn tortillas filled with slow cooked pork in a special Yucatecan marinade with fiery pickled onions.  I also had a quesadilla which was a large toasted tortilla oozing with British chorizo, fresh thyme and steamed potato.  Mum had the Sonora salad which was full of avocado, pumpkin seeds, beans, British organic spelt and cos lettuce in a crispy tortilla bowl with char-grilled steak.

If you go, you have to have the sweet potato as a side order, it’s dressed with smoky caramelised mojo de ago and practically melts in your mouth.  The final street food option that I chose was taquitos stuffed full with tender, marinated chicken and smothered with shredded lettuce, Lancashire cheese and fresh tomato salsa.

For dessert, mum and I shared churros which are a Mexican doughnut with a rich chocolate sauce and topped off the meal perfectly.

When it came to paying the bill, Wahaka uses an awesome app called Flypay which you can download to your phone and then scan the code that is on your table, bringing up the bill. This means that there’s none of that awkward business of attempting to make eye contact with your waiter for about half an hour.

Wahaca is a venue situated just opposite Waterloo tube station. It was quite accidental that we happened to be there. While me and a group of friends were walking towards London Eye, we passed by Wahaca. At the entrance there was a playground football platform with sticks on both sides where we decided to play.

The lightning of the venue was not quite strong but it was so appealing, we decided to quickly grab something to eat. It was quite a choice at the end.

There was a plenty of Mexican food, which one of my friends just loved. We ate from starters to desserts and tried pretty much everything. At the end, we spent about £85 for four people and the food was delicious. My favourite one anyway, will be always the nachos and the churros with chocolate served on a side.

The atmosphere was quite nice and all the service was quick. It was quite a good experience as pretty much no one from us had had Mexican cuisine before.

Definitely worth trying!!!

Before Wahaca, my experiences with Mexican food were limited. Occasional dubious run-ins with refried beans didn’t endear me and then there are the yellow kits that feature heavily in my dinner repertoire. Not exactly authentic.

So Wahaca, billing itself as Mexican market eating is a breath of fresh air. The four of us are here today at the Waterloo Wahaca for a quick pre-theatre meal before heading off for a dose of culture at the Old Vic. I’m concerned the queues are going to be prohibitive but the restaurant is large, brightly and colourfully lit and charms us instantly.

While we peruse the menu, we start off with a round of cocktails. We’ve all plumped for the Tamarind Twist, a sweet/sour long drink with a hint of spice. This is delicious, ticking all the sweet and sour boxes but with such a lot of ice, it disappears far faster than hoped.

Today we opt to share; the menu recommends 3-4 street dishes per person and we have no trouble listing off all the items we want on our hit list.

We have the Wahaca selection – a mixed range of items for 2 people and top up with more items – including a Chicken Burrito, Crispy fried sweet potato, Tostada’s, Taquitos and Quesadillas.

The tostadas are corn tortillas, piled high with topping and salad and are fresh, zingy and a far cry from the world of refried beans. The sweet potato chunks are meaty, sweet and a strong umami flavour making this the dish that was demolished the fastest. The pork tacos were superbly flavoursome but were a little oily compared to the fresh tastes on the table.

The quesadillas were hot and filling but compared to the other options on the table, these weren’t my top choice.

We finished off with the meal with what I think is simply the best thing to come out of Mexico – Churros! Since there are 4 of us, we greedily order both a Chocolate & Dulce de Leche version. The waitress misunderstood and only delivered one version but once we brought it to the staff’s attention, they apologised effusively and threw in our desserts for free! Not a necessary gesture, but one that warmed our hearts.

We remain divided on whether the chocolate or caramel version was superior – I’ll let you make up your own mind. And if you really can’t decide, then make your way to Greenwich market – there lies a stand that fills, yes fills Churros with a half and half combo of both!

The night started really badly as my party got delayed on the train and arrived 13 minutes late for dinner. The table has been given away to another party, and the manager personally called my name to tell me off for not calling the restaurant to say I was late (there is no number on the reservation email, by the time I found the branch's number we were around the corner). When he called my name, I thought he would wish 'Happy Birthday' as I was there to celebrate with friends. So disappointing! However, the waiter really turned things around. She was really quick, attentive, and friendly. Food came quickly and was delicious ( I really recommended the fetta and sweet potato Platito), and the drinks also came quickly. There was always water at the table. Good Friday night out, after a bad start.

Right opposite the station, the tasty food will satisfy but the service is a bit lacking. The Wagamamas of Mexican food. The entrance is quite dramatic, a wall of the ends of railway sleepers, some multi-coloured string and then mirrors to make it feel more dramatic and open. It definitely distracts you from the fact you’re basically going into a basement. Even for a Monday night, it was busy. Some empty tables but it seems advisable to book for any other night. As you sit down the multiple QR code stickers on the table to pay the bill makes it clear this is “get in, pay, get out”. There seemed to be enough staff but getting their attention to order was tricky. Paper menus had orders circled and some dishes were audibly “plonked” on the table, almost without breaking step on the way to another table. The food was delicious. You know it isn’t the most authentic, in the way pizza from a chain isn’t really Italian, but it has a good amount of spice and flavour. The Mexican nachos were the perfect sharing starter. The mains were hearty, looked great and appetising. You have to ask for salt if you’re an addict but it came promptly and without fuss. You can either go for big dishes or a more tapas-like 2-3 dishes per person. Dessert churros were a bit small but coffee was good. Pair this a Michelob beer or their many others and you’ll be away. I’ve no idea why they have an option to make beer ‘spicy’ or add salt - it’s not a margarita. There were plenty of other options and a small flight of Tequila. Menu-wise they do have an alarmingly-named Gluten (as in ‘Free’) and Vegan menu. They’re cut down versions of the main menu but add nuances showing they understand not everyone has the same level of intolerance. It’s appreciated. The decor in the basement did have a bit of “we went to the art college” with metal frames and yellow cord that was either “cool” or “cage” depending on your perspective. They have stripped it back a bit too much though and seemingly forgotten that bare concrete and low ceilings make it very loud. Nice for a meal with mates, not quite date level.

Great place for Mexican fare. I visited with a friend on a Friday night and we had a good time. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was lively. I highly recommend booking a table ahead of time as it was busy on a Friday night and there was a small wait for a table from 18:45 onwards. I recommend ordering 5 small plates (for 2 people) and I can vouch for the buttermilk fried chicken and the sustainable fish tacos - as delicious as they looked mouth-watering. The Margarita pie (new on the menu) was beautiful too - light and refreshing. Service was friendly and the food was great. I have no qualms at all. Recommended.

We were going to the Old Vic so popped in here for a meal beforehand. Incredibly quick - we were in and out in 40 mins!! Noisy and very close to other customers as it was so full. You pay by the code on the table so no asking for the bill. We chose 4 smaller plates to share beef gringa, chicken quesadillas, cauliflower bites and sweet potato and feta taquito with a beer and smoothie. Very tasty but quite rich . Approx £45

I was very pleasantly surprised having visited another Wahaca over five years ago which was a disappointment. The food has improved massively and I was very impressed with my veggie nachos and allioli mushroom quesadillas. The tortilla chips stayed crunchy and the flavours were amazing. I could have eaten the nachos again. It was a shame about the service. I think they were heavily understaffed so we were not attended to as often as we needed. For the middle of the week it was very busy and to that effect very very noisy. To the point where we couldn’t hear each other on a relatively small table. They need to introduce some dividers and soft furnishings to absorb the sound of music and people talking.

Excellent food and drink. Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Saw the four star rating but this is a legit five stars. Tacos and most dishes are tapas style portions so great to share. Clean and comfortable dining room in the naturally lit lower level location. Super convenient location near our Hampton inn hotel and Waterloo train station.

Wahaca is one of my favorite restaurants to eat in. It was my first time in Wahaca Waterloo and it didn’t disappoint!! Food as fresh as usual, tasty and great quality. But what made our experience wonderful was the warm, friendly and welcoming staff. Gaby served us and she was knowledgeable and helpful, and Javier, the manager was super friendly, made our evening fun and we will definitely come back to visit him again. Thank you so much

Lovely food, prepare for it to be a bit messy! Also they warned us after ordering that it may not come at the same time but (let's call them person 1&2) Person 1&2 order food at the same time Person 1 gets their food Person 1 finished and orders more Person 1 gets this new food The table get our starter Then after around 20 mins Person 2 gets their food. The place was very quiet too, but I do understand why it happened, just putting it out there that it isn't the most sociable place to eat. But the food was lovely!!!

Always a great meal at Wahaca a Waterloo is no exception, evidence by how popular it is so make sure to book early! A very relaxed venue with food that arrives as it is ready, a good vibe in the dining area and friendly staff. I would definitely recommend.
