Lovely food with home cooked feel, simple pastas and pizzas. A selection of basic Italian wines is appropriate for the style of food. Nice friendly place in convenient central location

So last Sunday was a foodie day of epic proportions. Brunch at Chiltern Firehouse followed by afternoon tea at the Connaught with my mates,  culminating with a family dinner… at our local Prezzo on Hertford Street!. Truth is, I’ve been coming here ever since school days when it was known as Jonathan’s, named after Prezzo’s founder Jonathan Kaye.

After a busy morning of sightseeing in London for me, and the last morning of a 3-day conference for David, we decided to get a few Fitbit steps on the clock and walk back from Baker Street towards our apartment in Canary Wharf. As it was around 1.45pm our growling tummies told us that we should stop and eat, and so we began to look for a restaurant. This is not a difficult task in central London, as it would seem that every other shop offers a variety of fare from all over the world. However, it was a sunny day, and this seemed to bring out the crowds, as many of the restaurants we passed were full to over flowing. It’s interesting to note how lunchtime is that much later in London than in the US.

Prezzo is certainly not high dining, brought home by the paper napkins on the table. But the food is good basic Italian fare, tasty, and for London, reasonably priced. The waiters were very friendly and fairly attentive, although we did need to wait a little while before we could order our food. Once the food arrived we were left to eat in peace and, unlike my pet peeve in the US, our plates were not cleared from our tables until we had both finished our meal. There was no feeling of being rushed to turn our table, or of being upsold with offers of wine or desserts.

Affordable and Amazing!. It's the best food that your can get for this price in Mayfair. The thin crust pizzas are large enough to share between 2-3 people. The risotto was excellent and the pasta was very flavourful. The fresh Parmesan hand grated at the table was a nice touch as well.

The calzone I had there was so nice, but the appetizer was a bit small. Atmosphere is nice though, so I’ll recommend this place if you want to chill in a quiet environment.

Well priced for the area. And lovley wood panel walls. Worth a romantic meal out even if it is a chain restaurant. Staff were very helpful, remembered our order and quick. Never forgot us... Even tho there was a 10min wait for a table. Food was really top and well presented.

Excellent all around - food, service, and price. We had pizza, pasta, apps and several desserts. I would recommend this restaurant over many of the high priced ones in the area. I think some of the negative reviews are from fellow Americans who are used to American service levels and waiters/waitresses who mainly would for large tips. Europeans restaurants are more mellow and don’t necessarily want to flip the table as quickly as possible. For those Americans, slow down, get the waiters attention when you need something and possibly try to pay at the bar when you are ready. Or tell the staff you are in a hurry otherwise they will give you time to chill.

I love the interior of this Prezzo. I would definitely recommend making a reservation here in advance, especially on the weekend. We did reserve one and it was a relief that we did as other diners were waiting up to an hour to get a table. We enjoyed our meal and although it was busy it was worth the wait. Totally recommend dining here if in the neighbourhood.

I have ordered my usual dish ... lobster and crab ravioli, and it was delicious as always. Lovely staff, ladies done their best to serve us promptly as we had no time due to train. Nice settings, and prices are good.

Great restaurant. Staff were friendly and efficient. Food was good and came quickly. Prices were higher than back home but probably London standard. We had to wait about 5 mins for a table on a Sunday evening but only just had time to study the menu before our table was ready. Decor inside the restaurant was very nice with wainscoting and beams in the ceiling. Two thumbs up!
