I ate brunch at Avenue Restaurant and had a pleasant experience. It happened to be very quiet when I had visited but many more people arrived towards the end of my dining. I would love to try more of the menu for dinner or even for drinks as the restaurant is located in St James with great location and ambiance as well as great service. For my brunch I tried the Eggs Benedict which is one of my favourites, the Lobster Mac'n'cheese and a Caffe Latte. I enjoyed them all, and especially the Lobster Mac'n'cheese which was a first, the dish was very fresh and hot and the lobster very sweet. On this occasion the muffin for my Eggs Benedict was a little hard which is why I needed to give a 4 rating but other than this everything else was great.

Got invited to this lovely American restaurant. I couldn't resist my urge to have a burger after skimming through the menu. I asked for one without bacon. I liked their window display.

This Boozy Brunch was only attended by one of the Boozy Bunch (myself) as the rest of the gang had already visited this place some time back. I have to say it looks impressive on arrival. All high ceilings and nice seating. As its off St. James Street, I didn’t expect anything less. We had to wait a bit behind a larger group before we were attended to, but it wasn’t a drag, as I was admiring the nice furnishings and already peeked at other diner’s food.

Our waiter opened with a friendly ‘Hello’, and when we smiled at him, he followed up with ‘Is it me you’re looking for?’ This immediately broke the ice as he started explaining the items on the menu to us. I opted for the pork and pistachio terrine to start, with almond-topped lettuce on the side. I’m always a little hesitant of terrine, as I have had some that taste more of fat than meat, but this one was outstanding, particularly when spread on their European-style bread (coming from Switzerland, which has some of the best bread in the world, I wholeheartedly approved of their baked goods). The almond and lettuce combination was unusual, but very tasty.

Brunch here was really nice, you get 2 courses for 23 pounds which is a starter and a main. The orange juice looked so pretty but tasted so strange I didn't even end up drinking it, I opted for the 15 pounds for unlimited prosecco 😛 For my starter I got the eggs benedict which was nice but when it arrived the hollandsise Sauce looked a bit hard, it was still nice though but I've had better! For my main I got the pancakes and bacon with maple syrup and it was lovely. It was a great place to eat but I think it's very expensive for what it is.

I attended a Canadian food and wine tasting/pairing evening and I was blown away by the delicious food. The starter was smoked salmon. Main was venison and Poutine (chips cheese & gravy) OMG this dish was incredible! Dessert was butter tart. The food was amazing and the wine tasting/pairing was brilliant. It was great to sample the exclusive Canadian wines. Great evening! Definitely keeping an eye out for future events.

The other week I was walking back to Waterloo from ROSL, and stumbled across Avenue just down the road opposite The Carlton Club. I'd never noticed it before but it looked pretty trendy and swish, and after a quick Google I realised why; it's a D&D restaurant. One of my favourite restaurants in London is Quaglino's, another D&D restaurant, so I knew it'd be pretty good. I hurriedly texted Claire and we booked a table.

A stunning venue with stunning food. We ate from the set menu which had far more options on it than you would expect and for £20 for two courses I thought, considering its Mayfair, this was reasonable. I had the sea bass which was cooked to perfection and mango parfait for desert which again was lovely and a work of art.
My only bug bare was as we were on a table of 8, we were never asked if we wanted to open another bottle of wine, it was just done for us. By the end of the night we'd drank far more than we ever would have done - almost a bottle each. Fine if you're not on a budget, not great for 8 recent graduates.

My girls and I like to meet once a month or so for Brunch Club.  The first rule of Bruch Club being....you go for brunch.

Last month we headed to Avenue, a large and light restaurant in the heart of Mayfair.  With two- or three-course brunches available, and bottomless Bloody Marys or prosecco on tap, it has quite the party atmosphere.  The eggs were good, the pancakes very good, and the milkshakes almost a meal unto themselves....  Avenue is quite the place to start your Sunday!

If you think that Manhattan is the only place to go for bottomless boozy brunches, then think again. More and more venues here in London are now offering this much neglected American institution. This Eater weekend, my friends and I went to The Avenue in St James where we rang in the long weekend in style with a free flowing prosecco brunch.

Dine in arty, contemporary surroundings at Avenue in St James Avenue is a refreshing destination on the London dining scene – a venue for fine dining situated in airy, contemporary surroundings without the stuffiness you often get at other establishments in the same price range. I recently booked a table for five on a Saturday night to celebrate my mother’s birthday. Located in St James, just off Piccadilly, it’s just a few minutes walk from Green Park tube station. The restaurant is situated right on St James’s Street, with large windows giving you a view of inside from outside. Although we were a little late due to transport issues, it was no problem for the friendly staff who showed us to our table. We were given a large round table near the back so had a good spot away from the busy bar and were able to see the contemporary artworks hanging out the walls surrounding us. Avenue was built in a former bank so has high lofty ceilings, letting in lots of light during the day, but provid

How do you feel about soft, creamy scrambled eggs, light as air buttermilk pancakes, crispy and snappable maple-cured bacon, charred baby asparagus and stonking great bloody marys?

If the answer is favourable, than I have just the place for you to dive into this Sunday for a spot of weekend brunch…

The place for this morning of munching was Avenue St James, a slick american-style restaurant and bar, in central London, just a duck and a dive behind Green Park. As much as I am a skeptic to any nationality with the propensity to supersize their food (ah wait, that has been banned now… ok well, lets just say, the inclination the quantity is paramount to quality) at times I make some exceptions because the Americans are not ones to be ignored when it comes to breakfasts. In fact it might just be the meal that they are unbeaten at! Brunch parties, are practically religion over there… We knew we are in good hands when we choose to brunch New Yawk style

The place was pretty empty when we arrived, no doubt all the tourists had hopped it for Madame Tussauds by the time we rolled up past 11.30, so we pretty much had the place to ourselves (bar a few ladies enjoying an early lunch). After a little menu scouting I opted for the omelette with thick cut parma ham and a side of charred asparagus, Tom, went for the full One, two, three with Pancakes, streaky bacon and perfectly rotund fried eggers.

The omelette, upon closer inspection was in fact not an omelette at all, but a yolk-free anaemic alternative. In my haste to order, I missed the fact that it was made with egg whites only and as such absent from the creamy yolk deliciousness that I was hoping for. An oversight on my part that actaully turned out alright, because the omelette was delicious. The white managed to hold together the generous amounts of parma ham and soft sweet red peppers nicely, without the dreaded cotton wool texture that egg whites can develop. If you happen to be an egg white only kinda person, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it. Especially with the side order of crunchy charred asparagus!

The one, two, three was certainly eaten as fast as its name, I only got a look in once, but I am now a real convert to pancakes in savoury dishes. They are fluffy, light and that much softer than muffins and toast, so serve well as a sponge to soak up the molten gold egg yolk. I mean holy guacamole, they are eggstatically good.

Two hours later the final dregs of green tea were swilled back and we wobbled out of Avenue, ready to hit the shops for a bit of weekend retail therapy. I was feeling less than fresh after last night review of Communion Bar... coming next week on my Grazia #datenightdinners column but still managed to give my credit card a good bruising.

If an American style brunching hasn’t won you over just yet, this is the place that will do it.

Perfect for brunch. Good food & music in a relaxed atmosphere were enjoying is the name of the game. The staff was attentive and friendly. In particular Alfonso, thanks for the tailored waffles. If you are in the mood, the Spritz & bubbles option is the perfect combination. Top experience.

We were greeted promptly and seated in an area until our table was ready. The restaurant was nicely styled and the bathroom was clean. We had the bottomless menu and the food was simple but good. There were some delays in food arriving late but with all that being said the staff were amazing.

Went here for Saturday brunch. The bottomless did not disappoint. He kept refilling our glass without us even knowing! It was great. The food was ok - I had the Mac and cheese main which was nice but defo go for the eggy bread for desert. That was their standout dish I would say. Service was good. Ambience nice - a bit of an older crowd. There was a DJ too but she was bit hidden! Overall had a nice time

Really really good place. The service was on point, very friendly & attentive staff & the food was WOW. Not many times do I say that. The food is really really good. Good quality product cooked with some skills. The Eggy Bread was dreamy.

I was looking for an American brunch and stumbled upon this place. Unassuming from the outside, Avenue is a piece of art on the inside. Incredibly well designed restaurant and bar, upscale seating inviting an upscale crowd. The prices reflect that too- I felt it was a little over priced. The food is magnificent! I had the beets salad and the avacado salad and both were real treats! The coffee is great too but the highlight is the bread! The bread is spiced and comes with the softest, most delicious butter. Absolutely brilliant! Courteous service and note that they provide free coat check at the bar.

We had an excellent experience here. I went with a reasonably large group (10 people) for a birthday meal and it certainly didn't disappoint. We arrived early to have some cocktails at the bar, these took a while to arrive however they were nothing less than exceptional. The waiting staff were lovely and provided recommendations when requested! They were able to gauge the group and make us feel very welcome. Moreover the food was cooked to perfections and presented exquisitely!

Friendly service and a delicious 3-course dinner menu with a glass of bubbles for £ 25, which I think is great value. We had a really nice salad with salmon and herbs as starter, which had an excellent balance of different flavors. I was pleasantly surprised by my glazed pork belly as main (sweet and crispy top layer and creamy soft texture inside - baked to perfection!), my father enjoyed a very tasty sea brass dish. For desserts we both had a raspberry lemon pie which was a real treat. Portions were not huge, but for me that’s not necessary, however I advise to take the 3-course meal as 2 courses might leave many hungry. Personally I wouldn’t mind a somewhat slower pace with the bubbles and 3 courses being served in about 70 minutes. All in all certainly a delicious dinner for a fair price: highly recommended!

Great spot for boozy brunch! We did the 2 course unlimited brunch deal. Would recommend the lobster roll and the mushroom pate. Service was a bit slow for food (albeit we had a large group) but great for drinks and they would promptly come around and top up our glasses whenever we took a sip. The vibe is great and I enjoyed the live music.

A lot nicer than expected. Started - crab ravioli: very nice. the ravioli itself was a little dry on the inside but it had a lot of sauce as part of the dish so it wasnt dry when you had it together. Main - duck: The duck was very juicy and tender. Only issue was it was a bit hard to cut with the knife. Would've helped if we had a sharper or steak knife. Dessert - eggy toast: this was very nice and different from what I expected. It looks like a french toast but the inside was very creamy and tasted like custard. The top had a thin layer of toasted sugar (similar to a creme brulee). Overall the bread felt like a bread version of creme brulee and it was very nice.
