They have the most amazing Pad gra prao I've ever had. Tried so many different Thai restaurants version but none compares to Churchill Arm Pad gra prao
I loved "Pad Ga Praow here...it was awesome experience .....
My friends were planning to go anywhere else but after visited here they thanked me .
The ambience wad good and comfortable.
It's simply amazing. From the outside, the building looks absolutely amazing and very interesting. It's worth taking a picture. Inside, the environment is crazy with the people enjoying themselvs while eating and drinking and the decor of the place is so interesting, tons of old photos, tons of support and tons of great moments. What a great experience, what a great pint of Guiness.
Amazing place for a beer and dinner 👌 the bar area is small but superbly decorated and is very cosy. Inside, the restaurant serves thai food, which is outstanding! We had the veggie fried rice + pad kee mao. BEWARE: the Pad Kee Mao is spicy 🌶🌶🌶 we got there early so we got a table but if you go past 6.30, be sure to book because it gets busy.

Really nice atmosphere, they decoration is well known as an expenditure affair. We went near Christmas, so it was too pretty. Had a couple of beers. But the place smelled of puke. Maybe they had an accident that particular day. Known for its Thai but the kitchen closes early. Mostly visit for the vibe!
Great place for drinks & chilling. Really like the ambience & great collection of beers & spirits . We enjoyed very much for evening drinks along with a group of friends
A pub with amazing exterior and interior decors along with a touch of history. This British pub takes an effort to symbolize united Great Britain through the flags on the building. The drinks are normally priced and the pub offers a free pint to its first time visitors which is pretty unique and welcoming too. This is a place which is highly reccomendable.
Lovely pub, with Thay food. Decor is wonderfull outside and inside. During Christmas Time there were pine trees hanging upside down outside They welcome well behaved dogs inside, which is great!! Had a great time with Friends.
Very cool pub serving delicious Thai food. It's always very busy so make sure you make a reservation before you go.
The only downside is the fact that a table can't be booked for more than an hour (you actually don't rush cause they're quite fast with your order).
Interesante, son dos locales diferentes, un pub inglés y un restaurante tailandes. El pub tiene una decoración muy variada de piezas interesantes y el restaurante está decorado con plantas, dicen comida abundante a buen precio.
This restaurant feels like a charming garden. Even though it is indoors the place has been decked up with green plants like climbers and ferns that really make the place come alive. The food is reasonable and quite good. The setting is perfect for a dinner date.
What a place! No words. First this pub area where you can wait having drinks until your table is ready. Really English pub. Then the restaurant, nothing to do with the other area. Completely different, but awesome. Really good food!
Quirky, interesting, quick service... Enjoyable. Good food .... A tick for the wine list.
Why can they do it and others can't?
Came four years ago, enjoyed it then, enjoyed it now.
My great uncle Midge, Alfred Bossom, later Lord Bossom of Maidstone, was a great drinking partner of Winston Churchill. Churchill would regularly end cabinet meetings by saying that he was “off to Bossom’s” at 5 Carlton Gardens. When he was first introduced to my uncle, then a backbencher, he famously said “Who is this man Bossom whose name means neither one thing nor the other?” This well documented remark has followed me around all my life and that of everyone in the Bossom family.
Excellent Thai cuisine. Not the restaurant you'd expect in this old English pub. It's just one experience after another as you progress from outside to the bar to the restaurant. The Thai cuisine is very authentic and tasty. Very atmospheric!
Its a nice place and serves amazing food . Haven't tried such amazing thai food earlier. The spring rolls are very crisp. The green curry is delicious. Loved the place. So pocket friendly . Went for a friends birthday and it was perfect. nice place to chill with friends.
Amazing! You can notice this pub from many meters away: plants, flowers, flags and everything you can imagine. And inside, it's the same!!! I've never seen something similar in my life, and I think it's so original...
When you go in, in the first part you can find a typical English pub, but if you go inside, you can have a thai meal, based on vegetables, noodles, rice and so on.
I ate some noodles with prawns and vegetables a pint of beer: very good and not so expensive to be in the center of Notting Hill.
5 stars for the decor!! 5 stars for the bar and the delicious drinks! 5 stars for the amazing thai food! I fell in love with this place, really! The items hanged all over the place can simply entertain you for a whole evening and the butterfly collection.... Breathtaking. Staff is too nice as well!! Do order the spicy food for a unique culinary experience.
Must see decor in & out, Authentic, Charming, eclectic, very British, excellent variety of Ales and Thai food! A must see if near Kensington High street, London England.
From what I am told there was a time 20-30 years ago when Pubs serving Thai food were the rage all over the UK. The Churchill Arms is probably a survivor of those days. And you can see why.
Outside it is covered in various potted plants (which flower in the summer making the place look even better outside) and various flags.
Inside the Churchill Arms is divided into two halves. At the front is a very beautiful and eclectic pub. At the back is the eclectic restaurant. Which if full spills into the pub.
The menu is small and smaller still for vegetarians. The Stir Fry mains being the only options. The curries all have fish sauce. But I should point out many other restaurants often don't reveal this.
This hitch aside the food is excellent. The Penang Curry is outstanding. I would advise making booking. Preferably a day or two in advance. As it is always full!
Restaurant is nice and offers a good selection of dishes. The beer selection at the bar however was my most favourite part! Happiness is definitely in a pint!
Beautiful pub meets Thai Delight!
Be sure to get here early if you want to get a meal (Thai food is amazing) or come over for a drink amongst the flowers.
Though the food is amazing (and cheap @£8.5 for most dishes) the real draw is the amazing decor. Covered in flowers, the Churchill Arms is like a colorful menagerie in the heart of Notting Hill.
Perfecto for a small group of friends or a cocktail before a night out with a special someone.
This place is beautiful on the outside as you walk up you will no doubt grab an instagram photo of it. It's a must!
You would never believe that this pub coated in flowers and foliage would be home to a beautiful Thai Restaurant. The food is amazing but you can't help but spend your time looking around at the inside of this beautiful pub.
You will need to book in advance for dinner though as the place is always rammed to the rafters. That is only a good sign though in my opinion. You need to eat here and being a short walk from Notting Hill Gate you have no excuses not to.
Delicious menu, served quickly as possible as place is always super busy and need to book in advance or wait long times. Menu small but lush Thai food. I go here often.
Beautifully decorated pub which serves authentic Thai Food is treat to visit. The hidden restaurant inside this pub is a delight if you enjoy Thai food. I was in awe the moment I saw and entered this Pub. Totally English in feel and awesomely decorated with flowers all over its a visual treat too. Too consider their hotness markings seriously as if they call a dish hot believe me its going to be seriously really hot. All in all a must visit for having the English Pub experience and for all the Thai cuisine lovers.
Come here for food, for ambience. The beer is just incidental.
The Churchill arms represents the perfect marriage between the great British pub and a Thai restaurant. In fact, someone at the pub once told me it was here the unlikely combo was first conceived. Who knows what the truth is but you wouldn't want to believe in the contrary. Like a perfect couple, the establishment's two halves - the pub and the restaurant - maintain their individual characters and are yet hard to imagine as free-standing individuals.
Order a pint of London Pride, walk to the bridge room, ask for your prawn crackers, and pick anything from the menu; you won't be disappointed.
If you're not fond of heat, choose rice-based curries and if you are adventurous, try no. 16. After years of spending my Sunday lunches here, my choice had narrowed down to 11, which I found out was the perfect thai curry; not too hot (or even if it was, I had rice) yet full of flavours.
The WWII paraphernalia that hangs from the ceiling will hold your gaze or will trigger a conversation. The restaurant - a tropical forest with butterflies - will immediately transport you to another world. This was, and has always been, my quintessential London pub; very english, but equally cosmopolitan.
Great food, know your order.. I come here all the time for a beer but I never tried the food until the other night. I loved it! The girls are a bit hit and miss but mostly because it get loud and busy about every night. They expect you to know what you ordered when they get really busy and if you can't remember from 1 minute to the next you order number then your food might get a bit cold.
Good Thai. Great place to catch up with friends for a quick dinner - they have a lot of bookings so you're expected to order quickly and be out in about an hour and a half. Decent food, very tasty. Very interesting pub and great to catch up with friends, be aware that it can be busy later on around the bar.
I don't usually like Thai - but this would be the exception. I went here with a friend before we went to the Doctor Who Experience (we're big kids). It was really busy but we were served relitively quickly (we were in a hurry) and the food was very tasty. I love most oriental food but for some reason Thai food doesn't usually do it for me. The Thai food at the Churchill arms is the exception. I don't remember what dish I ordered though... oh well - will just have to go back! Only drawback: the scary, crazy lady muttering to herself about Jesus and the Devil. It wasn't the pub's fault but it does help to remind you that this is a nice, but very down-to-earth pub that happens to have a great Thai kitchen.
This place is great all around. Go there! It will be crowded.
Visitors, Glad We Stopped. My wife and I had a pint here during a trip to London in 2009. The place had a British pub feel, but had a few distinguishing features (decorative clutter, flowers outside, etc).
During a 2011 London visit, my wife, myself, and a friend from Bristol met here for lunch. I had the Pad Ga Praw while the others had Pad Thai and Pad Khing.
Food arrived quickly and everyone enjoyed their dishes. I was pleasantly surprised at the spice level in my Pad Ga Praw, which was delicious in addition to being quite spicy.
Food prices were good, drink prices not objectionable. I've spent a total of about 4 weeks in the UK, so I've been to enough places to know that this was better than most (and our native Briton friend agreed).
In my limited experience, this seems like a great place. As a vacationer, I'm not sure that I'd unequivocally recommend an hour trip across town (depending on where you're staying) just to eat here. However, the Notting Hill/Kensington area is worth checking out in its own right and the food here is tasty and reasonably priced.
Always a laugh. Always a good laugh. Good food good atmosphere.

+4.5
Beautiful little Pseudo Thai garden in the back of this busy pub gives the restaurant a really nice vibe. Spring rolls weren't great, but red and green Chicken curries were really good and served with rice for £7 ish, so pretty good for London really. The whole meal wasn't ridiculously cheap, but not bad. Service was friendly and very quick (almost too quick). Was totally packed so would definitely advice booking. Good, cheapish Thai to go to if you're in the area.
When the menu says spicy, they mean it! Glad it's part of the pub. An enjoyable experience.
Oh how I miss Fridays in Churchills. Great food, great beers, great company. Never fails to deliver on quality. What's not to like...a pub that serves awesome Thai food! Wallop!

Back room Bangkok mayhem overlooked by a stuffed owl,a panda jigsaw puZzle & a lot of wicker baskets I've just eaten on of the best thai meals at thai prices in the Uk vfm 9/10
Two words...Ding Dong! Food is simply fantastic. This is my 12th year! Not a bad word against this Thai restaurant. you must go go go....
Great pub, average Thai food. This is a great pub, loads of atmosphere and some good beers. Always full of regulars which is a good sign. Like many pubs there is a Thai restaurant in the back that serves food in the bar area if you want. The food is very keenly priced but I have to say is pretty average - but I guess you get what you pay for...mostly. I would stay for the pub and seek out eating elsewhere locally as there is so much choice and alot of it good!
Pilot favorite. Decent Thai. Not Bangkok hot but spicy. I'd give it a 90 out of 100 on food experience versus price.
Its just Brilliant. For the price, the best evening out in london bar none.
Been going for 10 years, there every monday.
Get there early, get your name down get a seat in the bar and eat there or in the restaurant. Food is quick, cheap and fantastic, where else in london can you eat for £6.50 and drink good beer!
Tip: 15 Spicey, 20 Prawn, 16 beef.
(And tell em '15 spicey' sent you, you'll be doing me a favour!).
This is one of Londons true treasures. The food is great and the décor is fantastically cozy especially in winter. This is the place I go with my great friend where I know I have finally made it home to London. We took my husband there in January on his 1st day in London. It has also now become his favourite place.
Delicious Thai food served in the restaurant in the back at great prices. The only let-downs are that you are time-limited by the waiting staff who, if they consider you've taken too long over your meal will throw you out; another annoyance is that the pub and restaurant seem to work completely separately - don 't bother asking the waiting staff for a drink, you have to go to the bar yourself.
A brilliant Thai pub! On relentlessly chic and expensive Kensington Church Street, Churchill Arms is like an oasis offering the comfort of a traditional British pub. It’s spacious but the slightly ramshackle paraphanaelia and the fireplace make it feel re

One of my favourite watering holes in London is The Churchill Arms. The décor definitely has character, old memorabilia all around, historic pub, opened in 1750, and an excellent Guinness. For that reason I always take visitors there, so they can experience a nice British pub. One thing I’m trying to figure it out is why in that area most of the pubs have a Thai restaurant, it’s like a theme in Kensington/Notting Hill, well Churchill is one of them and actually the first one in London to have a Thai restaurant, so we must blame them for that
I had a roommate who kept telling me about this great Thai restaurant that was inside a pub on the way to Nottinghill gate station. I kept thinking maybe she meant behind the pub and not inside but boy was I wrong!
Inside this cosy pub is a beautiful Thai restaurant which is almost impossible to get a table at, as they are always fully booked (even on weekdays!). We went on a Wednesday and asked for a table for three. We managed to find a table at the pub's side and they agreed to serve us there. Inspite of being busy/fully booked our orders came in under ten minutes which was amazing because we were quite hungry ;)
We ordered springrolls and prawn crackers as starters. The spring rolls were delicious and the prawm crackers a bit on the spicy side but I'm not complaining. For mains we ordered a pad Thai and one of the rice dishes which came with mixed meat and prawns, veggies. The pad Thai was good but I really loved and preferred the rice dish over it. It was quite delicious (enough to make me crave it again). Their portions are large, we ordered two dishes for three people and were quite full.
Loved the food and the cozy ambience. The Thai restaurant side of the pub was quite pretty with flowers and in the spring this pub is quite a beautiful thing to pass by with it's colourful flowers growing on the outside of it.
The first time that I ate here, I was expecting a typical London pub...
The Churchill Arms in Kensington is anything but 'normal' and still to this day, this my FAVOURITE pub in London! The mix between their stunning flowers in hanging baskets during the summer and festive lights during winter never ceases to amaze me each time that I visit, and they really do create a beautiful-looking oasis from the city!
I attended a farewell here, in their tropical conservatory (photos attached) and have kept going back over the years for their reasonably-priced Thai food of note!
One of the cutest pubs in London that serves amazing Thai food.My sister took me to this place as I love Thai food. I loved the flowers baskets outside. The pub from inside is beautifully done . The decor is inspired from the world war times and has an old and amazing charm to it.It gives you the old is gold feeling .
The restaurant is always full and there is a 20-30 min waiting. My favourite dish here is their chicken Pad Ga praow as I love spicy food. It is one of the best Ga praows I have had in London. The Pad Thai is also a must. The menu is quite small but has great dishes. The food is very reasonably priced and the service is also very quick. Usually when the place is too busy I like to take away from here.
This place is a hidden gem and is an absolute must according to me.
This is the one of the most beautiful pub i have ever came across. The outside is fully covered with flowers. Classical english pub and nice place, with Fullers beers and other common brands.
The pub section is just like a pub should look like, cluttered and full of crap on the walls and ceiling but the restaurant section is full of plants and flowers. There is also a small fireplace inside.
This place is famous for its thai food but i somehow didnt liked much as the food lack authenticity and was rather sweet on its side. There are other better options available if someone want to go for thai but pop in if you truly want to enjoy the drinks/beer.
Been there many times! I love how you feel like you're entering "just another pub" and suddenly an extremely busy floral decoration swallows you into a kitsch forest.
Great food and generous portions at a low price! The only reason why I don't give it a 5 star rating is because it gets pretty busy and sometimes the staff tend to pressure you way too much into leaving the table available as quick as possible.
Great place, cheap and good for diner. Highly recommended.
Great value Thai food in Notting Hill. Don't expect good service though.
Absolutely amazing Thai place in a bar. Vegetarians will love this place tol
In the middle of an average looking road is this 1750s flower adorned pub, dressed to impress from head to toe in bright hanging baskets. The customers spilling out of the doors are a clear vision of its popularity. Stepping inside you are greeted by a traditional pub that has been covered with memorabilia of its colourful history (most notably the images of Churchills grandparents who were regulars back in the day) The staff are friendly, efficient and seem to really enjoy serving you. After propping up the bar with a beer from its changing collection you might be lucky enough to get a table for dinner. This is a pub dinner like no other, the first pub to introduce Thai food and they have done it in style! Enter into a secret garden through a doorway where the ceilings are covered in a romance of beautiful flowers. The menu is another surprise as its full of delicious descriptions with a heat rating portrayed through butterflies, 3 butterflies is the maximum if you like extra spicy food. I had Kaeng Bhed Ped Yang, a scrumptious duck in a red curry, coconut milk and sweet basil leaves sauce. With just one butterfly of heat this was perfect for me with a delicate balance of flavours that filled my mouth and stuck a very satisfied smile on my face. Almost as satisfying was watching my partner almost in tears at the heat of his 3 butterfly macho meal he had ordered, the Pad Kee Mao is not for the faint hearted it seems and I had to fetch him 2 pints of water. The great thing is, every meal is just 7.50 and the drinks are reasonable too. It just needs more space and booking is highly recommended.
A blast from the past!cosy WW-II type ambience with lots of pictures of Winston Churchill's era.Antique.Excellent thai food.10 min easy walk from Kensington Tube. Will visit again.
We went here on a friend's recommendation few months back and went couple of times thereafter for their Pad Thai.
The pub looks lovely from the outside with all the flowers and baskets but nothing compared to the inside. The interiors are done using articles from the world war times giving it an old world charm.
Life size cut out of the queen hanging on the wall.
The pub has a thai restaurant attached to it (never easy to get a table - especially on friday and saturday evenings).
The menu is limited but the dishes are great, generous portions and authentic.
Food is superb and at that price (especially being in notting hill), it is a small hidden treasure.
All in all, a great value for the meal. A good destination for a night out with friends.
The only negative is the service.
Would strongly recommend the Churchill Arms but definitely with a reservation at the restaurant.
Also when the dish says very spicy - it really means very spicy :-)
It is one of the oldest English pubs in London that serves good quality Thai food at reasonable prices. It takes around 15-20 mins but believe me that the wait is worth it. You can serve yourself with a glass of wine or beer till the time being. The service is quite good as well.
I personally like kho pad and kaeng kiew waan.
A must go place in summers as the pubs is all covered with flowers in full bloom.
A superb Thai restaurant and a fantastic British pub - this is what Churchill Arms offers at the same time - and a very decent price! Infact, the place is relatively cheap given its location 5 mins away from the Notting Hill Station. The pub is decorated with all sorts of antique items apparently from the World war era. I have been to this place at least 10 times and never once was it easy to find a table. There is always waiting, but the wait is worth it. My personal favorite is Number 4 - Pad Khao. Highly recommended place...
Extremely good Thai food at reasonable prices. I was surprised to see Thai food served at a pub. They have a separate seating are if you want to have a less noisy experience while having a good Thai meal. The menu is a very concise one, but almost everything I have ever tried here has turned out to be excellent. Its definitely a place worth trying out if you are looking for Thai food.
You can expect a waiting time of 15 minutes for sure if you are going here during peak hours. But they allow you to start drinks while you are waiting and note down your food order before hand so that you can be served quickly. Good experience!
The Churchill Arms is something of an institution - very reasonably priced food (given the area) and a kooky atmosphere. Half the space is 'old english pub' and half is 'fish tanks/ fluorescent lights/ Thai' . Make sure you confirm your order at least twice - the waiters are often quite busy/rushed and don't write orders down accurately. In the summer the flowers that cover the outside of the building are magnificent! Book ahead at the weekend - gets packed.
Stepping into the pub felt like stepping back in time, into a cozy haven where history and hospitality meld seamlessly. The rustic charm of its weathered wooden beams and the warm glow of the lighting created an ambiance that was both nostalgic and inviting. In essence, this old pub was more than just a place to enjoy a drink or a meal; it was a living, breathing testament to the timeless appeal of traditional hospitality.
It's a charming pub with pretty flower decoration outside. We popped in here for a quick drink with family. You order and pay everything at the counter. We had a few pints and enjoyed the atmosphere.
They also serve Thai food at the restaurant.
I really hesitated with the review for this place. Our first encounter with the owner or hostess was horrible. He was rude, dismissive and mean. We only stayed cause we had already paid for drinks at the bar.
But after that, everything was very good. The rest of staff were super nice and attentive. The food was perfect and the ambiance is amazing. I would recomend the place, that is the only reason I give it 5 stars. But the owner or manager will definetly drive business away with that attitude.
We order the extra spicy noodles and fried rice. Both were very good.
Our visit to THE CHURCHILL ARMS in Kensington during Christmas was an absolute delight! 🎄🍻 The charm of this place, both from the outside and inside, is simply captivating.
As vegans, we were unfortunately unable to indulge in the food offerings, but the tantalizing aroma wafting from the restaurant was nothing short of mouthwatering. The anticipation was enough to whet our appetites!
We opted for a couple of refreshing beers, and they hit the spot perfectly. 🍻 The atmosphere exudes a relaxing vibe, making it an ideal spot to unwind.
THE CHURCHILL ARMS is undeniably a wonderful pub to visit, whether you're stopping by for a meal or simply looking to have a drink and watch some football. The overall experience left us with smiles on our faces, and we're definitely looking forward to returning. 🎄🍻🥂
Church Arm is an exceptional establishment with a fantastic staff. The bar is always clean and bustling with activity. They serve delightful oriental cuisine, offering a wide range of tasty Asian dishes. The variety of drinks available is impressive, catering to all preferences. The staff members are friendly, welcoming, and incredibly helpful. Overall, Church Arm provides a top-notch experience, combining great food, a vibrant atmosphere, and excellent service.
The food was INSANELY good. Some of the best I’ve had. Almost as good as going to Thailand. The portions a HUGE. And they are SPICY. If it says spicy on the menu it’s a true spicy.(I can handle chili paste and chili sauce and chili oil. This is up there with those. If you can’t handle spicy I would definitely let them know). The staff was nice.
Churchill Arms is a must-visit for its eye-catching exterior and unique interior. It's quite touristy, so I'd recommend dropping by during off-peak hours. Grab a pint, snap a photo, and soak in the ambiance. Definitely worth a visit!
Service was outstanding on a very busy holiday. The food my husband and I had was top notch! My husband had the duck curry and I had rice with chicken & vegetables.
Excellent selection of beers. Great friendly service. Excellent atmosphere. The food is Thai. Prices are very reasonable. Had the Thai Green curry with Pork. Very tasty. The only downer is that the pub does not have a late licence. Everyone has to leave by 11:20..
If you ask my wife, this is the best restaurant in the world. Mainly due to a dish called pad-kee-mao. Be warned this is hot 🔥 🥵. Whatever thai resturant we eat at its the same .... do they have pad-kee-mao .... oh its not as nice as Churchill arms, this is my life.
So when we are here, she's in her happy place, what a wonderful relief 😆.
Popped in for dinner and the food is amazing, if you try the pad-kee-mao and you agree, give me a thumbs 👍 up 🙏
