I’ve eaten in several of the newer Brasseries and although the menus are identical I like how they have converted buildings in different cities to their style. However the original Ivy is in a different league. It’s always a treat.
Absolutely stunning little restaurant with the attitude and ambiance to match!! The food is the show stopper and is amazing!!!
Great find and if you haven’t tried it you need too!!!!
Champor Champor harks back to the glory days of fusion cuisine where pasta and satay, confit du canard and laab, gruyere and wasabi share the same plate.
Most of these innovative pairings work rather well - laab + confit duck, duck breast with satay and almond butter, prawn gratin, pork belly and rendang were delicious. The dishes that didn't work so well were perhaps where more precise cooking was required, red snapper, for example, arrived way overcooked.
Portions are enormous and while this is not haute cuisine, I enjoyed the hearty food on offer.
Visited here - interesting ambience , cosy little place . Had the Thai lemongrass soup, the shredded duck and hoisin sauce (safe choice always), and king prawn with turmeric curry... Beef rendang ... Spiced lamb neck .. Red snapper.. ! I thought all the preps were fantastic, flavourful. I was not too happy about the portions and the price paid for it, but if it comes to taste , I would most definitely recommend this place !!
We had Beef Rendang and Thai green curry. They are beautifully presented and taste fantastic! However, I think all mains should come with rice.....there's no way you can just eat these mains by themselves, definitely need rice with them! Order a bowl of rice for £3.50 on the side is a MUST. (Be aware that the bowl is not big though.....)
Can't wait to go back and try other dishes soon!
Champor Champor
So good they named it twice....Champor Champor is a Malaysian restaurant a stones throw away from the shard in London Bridge.
On entering the restaurant your transported into a different would from the concrete jungle into a heavily laindened Aladins cave...decor is rich with colour and textures.
My friend and I hadn't made a reservation which we was surprised we was even asked as it was very quiet....by the time we left the place was bursting at the seams with people and others were being turned away as there was simple no space.
Make reservations for this place people...
We was given a complimentary banana bread slices to wet our appetites (free always goes a long way with me)
Having taken our orders the food was served very quickly,I'm always sceptical when food is served that fast but from the presentation down to the smell it was clear this was made with attention and love.
I ordered Grilled chicken thigh curry, asparagus, butternut squash (£15.95) with a side of sweet potato mash (£3.95)
We also ordered a beef rendang (£16.95) with sticky white rice (£3.50)
I have to say there are very strange fusions of food on the menu but what we tried worked well!
The staff were friendly enough and could have been more friendly in my opinion, however the Champor Champor gets a thumbs up from me!

Is it a Malaysian/Thai restaurant or more Thai/Malaysia we pondered at the table. The answer? If we’re being strict on definitions, it’s… neither. The ideas are there: satay, green curry, rendang, but they are far from authentic. While I’ll always be a traditionalist when it comes to Malaysian food, in this case, it really doesn’t matter, the dining room was full of happy diners.
These fusion, Westernised versions are pretty tasty and full of flavour; my satay duck was strong on the peanuts and a little sweet, just how I like my satay sauce to be, and the duck breast was still pretty in pink in the middle. The prawns in my green curry were ginormous and juicy, but the curry itself lacked any kind of heat which was disappointing for a spice fiend and curry enthusiasts such as myself. Special mention has to be made about the exceptional service; we received thoughtful recommendations, the food arrived efficiently, and any requests for extra chillies or sauce were easily accommodated – definitely a neighbourhood gem!

I must admit that London Bridge is one of those nearby areas of London that I still haven't quite grasped the foodie scene for. I spend so much time around the stalls of Borough market and trying to avoid the tourist traps that I've failed to find those secret hidden foodie gems lurking around on the side streets.
So when a friend of a friend suggested Champor Champor and I saw how close it was to the station, I was slightly sceptical about whether it would be just another tourist trap. I do find it hard to find South East Asian restaurants close to home that I love but I can now confidently declare that this will be one of them.
We went in a group of 4 on a Thursday evening and when we saw how busy it was, we were glad to have pre booked. They left me an answerphone message to confirm in which they told us we would have a 2 hour turnaround but in reality, we ended up staying well beyond this and were not rushed out at all towards the end, though were rushed every so slightly when we first arrived for placing our orders.
The amouse bouche which was tuna based came as rather a nice surprise and choosing what to order ended up being quite tricky as my finger moved down the menu wanting to order one of everything! In the end, I chose the goats cheese and honey pastry starters, which were delicious and the king prawn green curry, which was certainly the mots innovatively presented green curry I've had in a long time! It was actually lesls curry and more prominent in huge battered king prawns and delicious tender pieces of butternut squash and I had it with a side portion of sticky coconut rice.
My meal ended with a refreshing, palate cleansing green tea and pistachio parfait and if I'd had enough time, I'd certainly have loved to have ordered a Vietnamese drip coffee, that I grew to love so much during my trip to Vietnam 2 years ago.
The dishes at Champor Champor are packed full of flavour but have an innovative, ,creative and original flair to them, setting it apart from so many other pan-Asian and South East Asian restaurants I have been to. And we ended up paying approximately only 25 pounds per head with 2 of us ordering alcohol and 2 of us having soft drinks so for a restaurant just a stone's throw from London Bridge, to find such delicious hearty and original food and such great value prices, is really something of a secret. Here's hoping it stays that way but I will definitely be returning to this cosy, dimly lit aromatic restaurant one day again soon!
Nuala Mc Laughlin really nice unique restaurant, food as delicious. The house wine was excellent. Service was good but slightly slow but overall I would highly recommend this restaurant. Would be great place for date night.
Came here with a group of 7, we were given the private dining room below which was nice, but quite cramped with an odd porch swing chair taking up 1/3 of the room. There was also confusion regarding when our reservation was but lucky the table/room was free.
The service was fairly attentive but a bit awkward due to the space of the room. For dinner I ordered the roast duck in flat roti wrap and the monkfish with spinach & ricotta ravioloni in mango puree red curry.
Both of these looked great on arrival but the sauce was overpowering. For the wrap, I really wanted to pick it up to eat it but the sauce was drizzle all over preventing this and also due to the styling of the dish, the wrap are placed upside down so everything falls out when I tried to pick it up, and the sauce also made the roti not as crispy as I liked. The fish was lovely, cooked just right, and the broccolini was a welcome addition, but the curry sauce was too salty and ruins the dish. The large ravioloni (or should it be raviolono, as there was just the one giant ravioli), was buried at the bottom and I felt it was slightly undercooked for me to enjoy, or rather again ruin by the overpowering sauce I couldn't taste what was in the parcel.
I tried some of my friends' dishes too - the lamb shank was fairly good, braised well and well-flavoured. The side order roti was very nice. The banana curry, whilst I didn't try it, looked very unpleasant and many banana slices were left at the end.
Their menu looked interesting and modern, but overall it was a disappointing meal.
Wonderful!!!. Had meal at Champor Champor last night it was AMAZING !!! Jumbo Prwans in Cumin Curry was wonderful. My partner had Bee Randang was excellent it was really tender and cooked buatifully. we love Champor Champor it definately will be the next choice for next dine out :)
Eclectic ambience, fab food. A most unlikely restaurant tucked away in a gloomy backstreet, but conveniently just a few minutes walk from London Bridge station (but make sure you know where you are going - we got lost). We loved it once we finally found the place. Friendly staff, whacky ambience and food with layers of flavour which you would normally associate with restaurants of the highest quality. Not cheap, but definitely worth the experience. Top marks.
We’d been to Champor Champor many times, but earlier this year the restaurant changed management & chef and we had not been since this change. Champor Champor: Amuse bouche Champor Champor: Complementary Banana bread (7.5/10) The interior at Champor Champor hasn’t changed much since new management took over. It is still very special…once you step into the restaurant it is as if you’re transported to a different world. Quite extraordinary. Champor Champor: Shredded roast duck and hoisin sauce with flat roti (7/10) Champor Champor: Shredded roast duck and hoisin sauce with flat roti (7/10) In recent years the area around London Bridge has gotten better known among foodies for its dining scene. And even though Champor Champor has been there for a long time, it’s lesser known than the eating establishments on Bermondsey street. In fact there are a great deal of restaurants around Bermondsey street that deserve to be better known and Champor Champor is one of them. Cha
It was hard to leave such a charming place, even if the food was at times mediocre. Ownership recently changed hands and the decor has been scaled back. The ornaments and features that used to adorn the walls have been stripped. Many would prefer the more airy atmosphere, but I think it has lost a little of its charm. It’s still a wonderful place to take a date, especially if you can book the mezzanine, but for me the fireworks were with my guest, not the food.
For their 10th anniversary – and until the 14th October – if you fancy trying to grab a table, the restaurant team have delved into their past favourites. We decided to go for starters of wood pigeon soup with a lamb begedil and frogs leg pakoras, satay marinated lamb fillet and crocodile tail fillet with Szechuan pepper sauce for mains,
A hidden gem found on the doorstep of The Shard in Southwark. The décor is totally quirky with various Thai artefacts placed around the quaint little restaurant. The food is mainly Thai with influences from Malaysia. The flavoursome choices are all presented in fine dining style and are good portion sizes. Highly recommend to save some room for dessert as the ‘Steam Tara and black rice pudding served with mango icecream’ is delicious and something totally quaint.
It's a really nice and unique Asian fusion restaurant . It's one of the restaurant you should try in London bridge
We went to Champor Champor the other night and had a great dinner. The food is really good (Thai/Asian) and you can choose from a great (yet not too great) variety of dishes. I had duck breast for starters and beef sirloin as a main. The house also offered a spicy Thai salad as amuse-bouche. I had a beer (Asahi) and tab water with my meal. The service was very friendly and everything was served on time. I also liked the interior, everything seems to be unique (decoration, sets, lamps, cutlery etc.) and is arranged in a very playful way. The lights unfortunately were a bit too bright, a dimmed atmosphere would probably go better with the deocration.
Prices (dinner):
1x starter - duck breast: 9£
1x main - beef sirloin: 19£
1x side - sticky rice: 4£
1x drink - beer: 5£
Total (service included, per person): 40-45£
I have to say that I enjoyed this dinner and I think one can spend a great evening at Champor Champor. The only downside really is the price. Given that I did not have wine or fancy cocktails or anything, 45£ is a lot of money to spend on dinner (no dessert). But overall, I would still recommend going and maybe just having a main.
We went there for our 5 year anniversary and the experience really great. The staff provided impeccable service and care about even smaller things. We were also given the special table without specifically asking for one and without needing to pay for 3 courses. The atmosphere also is very cosy and stylish.
The food was absolutely great and the menu options are quite unique. The only negative was in relation to the squid ink linguini, as it was quite strong in aniseed flavour even if the menu does not mention that. For a flavour like that, it should be mentioned as your are either a lover or a hater of this flavour so is good to know. Other than that the food was amazing and my lamb shank extremely tender!
Definitely recommended, especially for any special occasions. It might be on the pricier side but the service you get definitely makes it worth it!
Excellent service. Very attentive and quick, but without being rushed, with all the plates arriving at the right time.
Went there for lunch and had a few dishes to share. The softshell crab was well fried, but could have had a bit of acid and seasoning. The papaya salad was good, but also needed a bit of seasoning. The banana bread is well made, but it's a bit too sweet for a starter, even with the acompanying dip. The duck roti raps were delicious and not heavy at all, but fell apart pretty quickly.
For the main, we got the lamb braised in blue Sumatra coffee, which was fall-off-the-bone tender. The coffee flavor was delicate, just the right amount.
All in all I would love to go there again and try some of their other dishes. Great if you're vegetarian or vegan. Many of the dishes are (or can be made) gluten free as well.
Fantastic place!
The food was excellent, the massaman lamb shank curry was mouth wateringly tasty. The Tom Yum Brulee was delightful and sweet, and very unique! the cocktail was great and complimented my meal wonderfully, and the staff were impeccable, friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable about the menu.
I'd highly recommend visiting this place for dinner!
Food presentation was really good! Complimentary banana bread was a nice touch.
The soft shell crab tasted amazing and fresh! The roasted pork had good flavours too.
King prawn green curry is a must-try here! The prawns are huuuuge and the flavour of the curry was great!
Beef Rendang - sauce was good, the beef is a bit tougher than i'd like though
Red snapper - again, sauce was good but the fish did taste a bit rubber-y
Overall, good and would recommend 👌
Good selection of food. Dishes were all presented beautifully and full of flavours. Service was great and staffs were very attentive.
Colourful decor, extremely friendly staff. Sone interesting seating options - small private diningroom downstairs and a teeny table on a raised dais in the front window.
Highly recommend a visit to this place.
Probably best thai we’ve had in London. We had the chicken green thai curry, the aubergine and halloumi starters and the green tea pistachio and rice pudding desserts. Would recommend each and every one of those dishes apart from the halloumi, as it felt out of place and was more mediterranean. The curries were very creamy, the chicken and veggies were cooked perfectly and the desserts were perfect. Generally a bit pricey but definitely worth it.
Turmeric lobsters are very nice. Starter is a bit odd, should’ve let them recommend it:)
Food was amazing! It was very authentic and full of flavour. To top it off, staff were very kind and helpful, especially if you have dietary restrictions. And the atmosphere was colourful. Overall, definitely worth the money.
Great place if you like an explosion of flavours in your dishes that are presented superbly and taste fantastic.
The staff are so friendly and polite, not to mention good at advising on the dishes and even recommending finishing your wine before attempting to eat your dessert! Very busy and booking is highly recommended as you might disappointed if you haven't pre-booked a table. They were fully booked out on a Thursday night. We only managed a main each of snapper and monkfish with ravioli, a bottle of rose wine and a dessert to share but loved it all. There was also some complimentary appetisers of sweetcorn fritters and banana bread - yummy.
I have nothing to say except " perfect and amazing "
awesome food! I was absolutely come back again 💯
Service is even more! all staffs were very helpful. Good atmosphere in Thai traditional style!!!
I could give more than 100 points to this restaurant
The food was delicious and the service very good. A great place to have dinner with friends or a romantic meal. The vegan rice pudding dessert (I can't remember the correct name) was devine....and I'm not vegan!!!
Service was great. Food is fine, but too sweetened as for me (sure there was added sugar).
Creative interior ;)
I reccomend to taste starters - papaya salad and baby squids, that’s top taste! We also tried banana veg curry and chiken curry, but not best experience. Anyway it worth visit!
Absolutely amazing! The customer service attention, the venue, and the food was so so wonderful. I’m excited to come back! 100% percent recommend!
I can't wait to go back!!!
The king prawns here may as well be lobster from the size they served! Order the King River prawns green curry, it will have you licking the plate clean.
Make sure you book as this place is small and was consistently busy while we dined.
Very delicious Thai food. Especially the lamb it was melting in the mouth. Also the jasmine tea is very aromatic and feels fresh.
A hidden gem with an intimate dining experience. The staff are very attentive and the atmosphere is not boisterous or too quite. The waiter brought over a small tasting plate to start with. Appetisers were brought out at a good pace and the mains were great. Highly recommend.
Very nice restaurant.
The staff is kind and interior looks nice.
The food is wonderful.
