It has been a while since I last visited Cambio de Tercio. For me, they produce some of the best modern Spanish tapas in London. Easily as good, if not better than the Barrafina chains. Yet for some reason, Michelin have continued to ignore them and yet have seen fit to award stars to Barrafina (why?) and Ametsa. Since my last visit, the restaurant has undergone a renovation and expanded next door, taking over the wine shop. Good news since it was pretty hard to get a table without having to book in advance.

World class wine list, mouth watering food and five star service!!!

Outstanding experience of everything a customer could want from a fine dinning restaurant.

I have worked in hospitality for many years as a manager in 5 star restaurants & hotels and managed lots of prestigious events.

So over time, I have developed fine tuned sensors for knowing the way that exclusive establishment standards should be.

We stumbled on this busy restaurant by complete chance and Pachos was quick to greet us in a warm welcoming manner letting us know that he would deal personally with our request for a table and that we should expect to wait no longer than 5 minutes, We were then escorted and seated within 3 minutes and given menu's promptly.

Vladimir then approached the table about 5 minutes later to take our orders and make his informed suggestions, which was very efficient as the restaurant was very busy. He made his recommendations and gave his diligent feedback on our menu queries.

The red wine was first to arrive, and for a mid priced wine was probably the best bottle we have had in a long time - silky smooth and robust with flavour. Then the tapas came soon after and complemented the wine so well, that they were quickly devoured and more tapas dishes were then ordered.

During the meal we were asked at regular intervals about how the food was and topped up to the correct adequate level.

This was such a joyous occasion and I can very highly recommend Cambio De Tercio for people wanting to enjoy a special occasion at a world class location. Pachos and Vladimir were fantastic and ran the service superbly also.

I will definitely return again with a smile the whole way through my next reservation there!

I adore tapas and how it creates table conversation through sharing food, discussing flavours with your companions and all cooing over the dishes at the same time. It's perfect for large groups, romantic for two and a decadent treat for one... Cambio de Tercio in South Ken has been my families 'go to' for (I think) over 20 years. It's still owned by the same lovely faces and still has a wonderful cosy 'unique' atmosphere even after expansion into several other branches.

If you are spaniard and you are feeling blue and homesick, Cambio de Tercio is a must. Great wine list, delicious "jamón ibérico" properly cut, try the cuttle fish meatballs or the ox tail!!

Visited Cambio de tercio AGAIN. Great atmosphere with modern Spanish cooking with an outstanding Spanish wine list. Service attentive and friendly. The Jamon Iberico was a great way to start and fried peppers are a great sides to many of the main courses This is great restaurant perhaps a tad over priced if you hit the wine list hard but otherwise an outstanding addition to Brompton Rd. The sister place opposit is less formal and ideal for more casual dining but cannot comment as I have not been there. The best Spanish food In London ( probably)

March 15, 2015 · by eatwithsteph · in Spanish . · South Ken is where it’s at! History and Background: Classic Spanish tapas on 163 Old Brompton Road. Cambio De Tercio is the “ signature Restaurant of the Cambio De Tercio Restaurant Group” . Located in South Ken, it has been open since June 1995. They also hold the largest Spanish wine collection in the whole of London. Having achieved a number of prestigious accolades since 1996, you can say that this one of the most authentic Spanish places in town, that even tennis star, Rafael Nadal visits whenever he’s in town. ( You know where I will be dining come Wimbledon…hehe.) The meal: Bread and olives with Wendy Nuestras Famosas Croquetas De Jamon Iberico, Salsa De Tomate-Tomillo £7.50 You may have to get used to the long dish names… Above we have the famous ham croquettes, thyme-tomato sauce. Crispy and succulent with the sauce giving it its full flavour. Below we have a famous, signature dish el Bulli tortilla. It was something different, and omelette was very fluid like, definitely something you should order. Served in a cocktail glass, layered by caramelised onion and egg yolk added with potato crisps. El Bulli £4.50 Mini wagyu beef burger 100% W agyu, Finca Santa Rosalia, Burgos, Spain £3.75 Girolle mushrooms casserole with soft poached egg, veal stock and foie gras £14.50 Yes I ordered a mushroom dish yet again! I really really loved this one, mushrooms full of flavour and juice but foie gras made how I like it, very soft. Wendy ordered the patatas bravas. This was really good, a traditional favourite. Crispy, but not too fried and not dry – since it was filled with spicy tomato sauced with aioli

Cambio De Tercio is seen by many to be one of the best Spanish restaurants in London and after   seeing my fellow bloggers rave on about a couple of dishes I pushed this to the top of my to do list with a leisurely Saturday lunch.

Salty cod and olive oil brandada. A classic brandada dish presented in a completely different format, with the warm emulsion were put inside a tube, which diners can squeeze out and spread onto the crispy bread, this really added a fun factor and the brandada tasted great with the potato really lifting the cod flavours with its creamy texture.

Cambio De Tercio has four locations, all situated closely together but offering Spanish food for different occasions. We tried the seven course tasting menu for lunch and every dish was excellent.

For a friend’s birthday, we went for dinner at Cambio de Tercio, a Spanish restaurant on Old Brompton Road. I had seen on several reviews that this restaurant could easily be the best Spanish restaurant in London, so I was pretty excited to try it out.

I'm doing things slightly different today. Crispy fried calamaries, sliced for convenience, dressed with black squid ink and garnished with lime. Simple, effective, appetising. By now, I'm ready for oxtail and apple foam.

Over the years I have watched the place grow from the single room crammed with tables to the point where you're elbow knocking the next door table, serving rustic Spanish tapas, into a more spacious larger restaurant serving a culinary experience a la español.

With a great selection of tapas and a wine menu which will turn even the more sincere wino's somewhat gooey eyed. There really isn't a whole lot to complain about.

The chef often does taster menus, a short list of five to six dishes brought to you one by knw, all of which, are guaranteed to be as good as the next.

During my last visit, in early September a warm young waiter by the name of Paco headed up a great team of highly attentive staff.

Recommended for a fun, lively night out as the atmosphere is Mediterranean; Warm and lively.

My latest meal here began with gazpacho poured over lobster and cherry ice cream. The soup had lovely depth of flavour, and the lobster was tender; the cherry ice cream was an interesting extra element, but the dish was carried by the fine gazpacho (16/20).

Next was a modern take on Spanish omelette, served in a cocktail glass, with a layer of caramelised onion, topped with egg yolk and potato foam with slivers of potato crisps. This was a rich dish, but the potato provided a welcome textural balance and offset the richness (15/20).

Smoked sardines with apple and foie gras was another good dish. The sardines had strong flavour, and the apple’s acidity nicely balanced the richness of the foie gras (16/20). Hake was carefully cooked, served with good asparagus, baby leeks and salsa verde. The dish was let down by poor razor clams, that were distinctly chewy; at one time in my life I assumed that razor clams were inherently like this, until I ate versions in Japan, but also at some top UK restaurants such as Kitchin (14/20).

Veal cheeks were served in a patty, with a salad with vinegar dressing and chips, a sort of deconstructed burger minus the bun. The star was the veal cheek itself, beautifully tender, the vinegar dressing of the salad providing some balance to its inherent richness (16/20).
Dessert was a deconstructed cheesecake served in a cocktail glass, using Manchego cheese and having enough fruit flavour to balance the cheese (15/20). Overall this meal was between 15/20 and 16/20, slightly less consistent than some previous meals that I have eaten here. However the dishes are inventive and the best dishes were very good indeed.

The bill came to £107 a head, including a lovely bottle of Rioja Alta 904 2000 at £88.50. Service was excellent. Although the restaurant was packed, even on a Tuesday evening, the topping up of bread, water and wine was exemplary. Cambio always feels to me authentically Spanish, and indeed a lot of the customers here are evidently Spanish, enjoying a little taste of home.

I'm a big fan. This place has a truly European vibe where you get cold cut meats and small fresh dishes to share - enjoy some good vino with it and your all set. I'm enjoying white wine for Catalonia these days, which I never knew before - very enjoyable with a summer tapas meal. What more do you want? Ok the list could go on but it's a good start. The food is authentic and vibe is charming!

Nice, charming restaurant on Old Bromptom road, serving typical spanish food and tapas. The atmosphere is buzzing, I would definitely recomend if for a date! Definitely try the tapas, with the classics (and my favorite) being croquetas de jamon, Padron Peppers, and their amazing patatas bravas! Wine is also very good, as is Sangria in the Summer. The Summer is definitely my favorite time to go, you can sit at the terrace and enjoy the delicious Sangria!

A good spanish restaurant in Chelsea.
The menu is divided between tapas and first courses, but i personally recommend tapas as they are really good. Try the pulpo a la gallega and the rabo de toro, they are simply delicious.
The owners and the waiters are spanish, very kind and ready to help you to understand the menu.
However be careful as this restaurant is pretty expensive, around 50-60 per person, the quality of food is excellent, but mostly the location justifies the cost.

Phenomenal food and service from start to finish. Ordered 5 tapas, one main, and two desserts which were just right for two hungry lads. Shout out to the ham croquettes - the potato filling was super smooth and creamy, while ham was very savoury. Very underrated Spanish restaurant in my opinion, does not feel like this name gets brought up enough in London.

Birthday meal out at this great restaurant. I enjoyed it so much I forgot to take note of everything we ate and have few pictures. The staff were extremely attentive and the food arrived promptly. All of the food was very good but the caramelised slow cooked tomatoes were incredible, alongside the bruschetta and ham platter. Definitely visit this place and make your own mind up, but I highly expect you to enjoy it as much as we did.

Been always wanting to go , since we used to live around the corner, Don’t know why it took us so long to try out. Steak was amazing, big portion, same goes for the fish main that my husband ordered. Nice place.

Fantastic Spanish restaurant, been going here for years. Tapas dishes reimagined and elevated, make a selection and they will arrive in waves at the table like a bespoke tasting menu. Quality service, long and very Spanish wine list. On the higher end price wise, but not outrageously so. The 8 hour tomatoes and ham croquettes are a must have.

Went here with friends for dinner. It's not cheap at all, but it's definitely worth a try. We were told we got a 2 hours window for dining from our reservation and when we got there it was full of people. Had ham tapas and churros as well on top of what's in the pics. The ham tapas was very good. A lot of the other places have their ham very salty, here the taste is decently controlled and the texture is quite thick. The potatoes are simple but delicious. The broccoli was quite nice as well the key here is to have it with the nuts otherwise it's losing half of its flavour. For the mains we had beef cheek, monkfish and cuttlefish, and pork. Monkfish and cuttlefish got good texture and was savoury, but the pork was simply divine. top notch texture, especially for the fatty part- the surface is crispy but the inner part is tender, and the oil combined with the pork is simply umami. A must try at this restaurant. The beef cheek was not as good as the other two, it tasted bland and we had to add more pepper for flavour. And although I might not have had "the best espresso Martini" in London it was still a very decent digestif. The restaurant can make some improvements on their music choice tho.

One of the best dining experiences I've had. Came here after hearing about alcaraz visiting during his wimbledon stay and I can't speak more highly. I am vegetarian and they had so many options. I had the 'eight hours' tomatoes which was such a great dish never had tomatoes like that before, the patatas bravas which were super tasty, and the BBQ king oyster mushrooms which came with a really nice tartar and kimchi. Not the cheapest but so highly recommended. Service was also great and the staff made sure to check on us regularly despite the restaurant being very busy.

Top a level service. They seated us without a reservation and got the best table near the window. Food came in very quickly and it was delicious. They bring you warm bread rolls with olive oil and olives. We ordered 4 tapas and two mains. It was enough food for two people. We got pan con tomate (slightly smoked flavour), padron peppers, patatas bravas, jamon, lamb with potatoes and roasted garlic and gambas tempura. All delicious. Highly recommended to book in advance as it gets busy quite quickly even on a week day.
