If you are booking, request a window table.  A little hard to find being two flights upstairs but that just improves the view of the Thames.  The acoustics are not great and the window tables also have the advantage of being quieter.  It was funny to glimpse Mini Patel in the kitchen, having seen him on TV, cooking on Great British Menu.  Like Frog in East London, dishes are brought by cooks from the kitchen.  Useful if you have questions about the dishes but less handy if you just want to ask for more water.

We arrived very hungry so ordered the red pepper and walnut dip with crisp bread, knowing that a pre-prepared dish would appear quickly.  We were not that impressed be the design of this dish.  It contained cumin and quite a lot of smoked paprika so the freshness of the roasted red peppers was lost.  Also the sour dough melba toast was drenched in olive oil.  Tasty actually, but quite messy to eat.  I would have preferred a dip that was flavored more like a romesco than a muhumarra, with some acidity and the freshness of parsley.  I did appreciate it being served at room temperature rather than fridge cold.

Mains on the other hand were excellent.  My companion's lamb pie was very pretty, very meaty and with little fat.  It came with a salad dressed in a nutty vinaigrette and deep fried lamb chunks.  A quenelle of wild garliic pesto was a great compliment.  The lamb jus was intriguiging with a tiny hint of aniseed in the background.  I had a very well trimmed and well sourced ribeye steak.  It was trimmed so well that even served rare I only needed to trim off one vein of fat running through the centre.  The accompanying oxtail and bone marrow sauce was rich and had been sweetened with port.

We had two sides.  The roast hispi cabbage with crisp shards of prosciutto and a light coating of cheese and mustard sauce was brilliant.  Some of the best cabbage I have eaten.  Fries were not great, being a little soft and greasy rather than crisp.  Fried at too low a temperature.  However the accompanying hollandaise was quite masterful being more acidic than usual, which made a good foil for fries.  In fact, all of the sauces were masterful.  On a second visit I would order their organic sourdough instead of fries for mopping up the delicious sauces.

With a pleasant house red of Sicilian Nero D'Avola for a reasonable £21, our bill would have been £83 at full price including service and a 1% charitable donation.  They are soft launching the new menu until Saturday April 28, 2018 with food discounted at 50%.  Go to the Offers section of the Hot Dinners website for instructions on how to get the discount.

What a nice place to be in and what a marvellous view from the cafe! WOW! WOW! Fully mesmerized!

I was invited by my leadership team and we went out on a Wednesday evening if I could recollect.

We started with Parsnip soup,  and then moved on with some Risotto and ended with choice of desserts from the menu. Soup was too good. Risotto was OK OK. But I did a huge blunder by ordering choice of cheese at the end - OMG! ask me about it. I got so scared seeing at my plate. It was really heavy and I am not used to wide variety of cheese. I ended up wasting few cubes of cheese. I felt really sorry about it! In between, we had other regular drinks as well from their set menu for the evening.

We had sparkling wine as well which was really nice.

My scores for them:

Ambiance and location: 5/5

Food - 4/5

Service- 4/5

Go friends, try it out! It's your turn now.

When the sun is out, a table at Blueprint Café overlooking the Thames is a glorious spot to enjoy a meal. And it’s been my experience that the café’s Head Chef Martyn Moody’s meals are definitely enjoyable. His new Saturday brunch menu is a guaranteed weekend delight. As for the weather, there are no guarantees, but the crisp blue skied Saturday I paid a visit was gorgeous.

So a sunshiny Saturday afternoon tucking into a big plate o’ brunch – could it get better? Sure. Add the £15 unlimited Bloody Mary – and a fiercely spiced one at that – to the mix and voila good times.

Hardly my first time at Blueprint Café or even the first visit this year, I’ve come to expect top quality but fairly basic food to be served in its airy dining room. The new brunch menu is no exception.

I found my Wye Valley asparagus with Parmesan custard and crispy Parma ham (£7.50) a deliciously seasonal way to commence my meal. Topped with fresh dill, a mild and creamy Kedgeree with hay smoked North Sea haddock and Burford brown eggs and topped (£6.50 as a starter, £12 as a main) was just the sort of comfort food item I’d hoped to come across when reading the menu. The flow of refill Bloody Maries never dried up during my meal, even as I finished my selection of sorbets (£6.50 for three scoops; I got apple, passion fruit, and coconut).

I had a great time and a lovely dine. Judging from good vibes in the restaurant while I was there – lots of laughs, glass tinkling (Blueprint does unlimited Prosecco too) – I reckon everybody else would have said the same.

Brunch is available every Saturday from 10am to 2.30pm.

Blueprint Café is located at the Design Museum, 28 Shad Thames, SE1 2YD.

Seasonal British produce is something we are firm advocates of. I mean, how can it not make sense? You get to eat a variety of different food throughout the year, produce always tastes best when in season and perhaps most relevant to our times, it is chea

Last Sunday had some pretty peculiar weather. It was such a sunny and hot day more akin to a summer when we are smack dab in the middle of autumn. With all the sunshine and clear blue skies it would have been a crime if we didn’t get out to enjoy it. Oh d

Food: British

Price: Around £50 for two people

Atmosphere: Elegant, Secret

Great place for lunch or dinner in front of the Thames . In fact, the restaurant is located right next to the museum design and offers tasty British cuisine . The restaurant is very bright and makes you feel that you are at one step from the river.

The service is great and the servers will offer you two options for your lunch: a menu "A la carte" and the menu of the day, which is a bit cheaper.

We had salmon for the starter  and the chicken yellow ross for the main and it was a nice treat. The portions were a little bit small but very good.

There was no waiting for the service, which is a big plus for a restaurant with great assets.

A lovely view, especially around sunset. Service was friendly, moved us on request to a table by the window, knowledgeable, and more or less efficient, perhaps the one or two obviously new staff :) The 'market' menu is great value, a pleasant surprise, to find 2 courses for £18, when a la carte has mains for about 15-20. Good value, a decent continental style selection - nothing too adventurous, but everything cooked rather well - my chicken was excellent, but overseasoned which was a shame. The pollock, and cassoulet we ordered were excellent. Really enjoyed their gazpacho, quite a kick! Dessert was ok - panacotta was too gelatinous, but the mango and sesame combination was gorgeous, the hazelnut praline was way too creamy. Winelist was well priced and with plenty of variety, in style, and size. All in all a great experience. Their much publicised 'secret garden' looked pretty sad though...it's just some fake grass and some umbrellas... I will definitely be back, but then i live right around the corner...

The Design Museum has a first floor restaurant called the Blueprint Café with a fine view over the Thames, including Tower Bridge, and has long had a reputation for good food (it opened in 1992). Some restaurants with a view compensate with either underwhelming food or high prices, but the British food at the Blueprint café was modestly priced, with a set lunch at £20 for three courses. From the a la carte, starters were £6.50 to £9, main courses £12.50 to £21.50, and desserts £5.50 to £8. Mark Jarvis is now the head chef, having taken over from Jeremy Lee, who moved to Quo Vadis. Mark was sous chef at Texture prior to this head chef assignment.

The wine list was organised by style and had selections such as Elderton Shiraz 2009 at £38 for a wine that you can find in a shop for about £20, Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2011 at £49 for a wine that you can find in the high street for around £20, and Harmand Geoffroy Jouise 2008 Gevrey Chambertin at £85 for a wine that retails at about £31.

Bread is now made from scratch, and it shows. Sourdough rolls made with buttermilk were excellent, soft and with good flavour (15/20). It is really nice to see restaurants making their own bread rather than just lazily buying it in, especially when they do it well. A starter of kedgeree was pleasant, and although there are limits to how exciting this dish is ever likely to be, it was well made, the rice properly cooked, the seasoning accurate. Perhaps there could have been a bit more haddock, but it was nice enough (13/20).

Coley with chorizo, fennel and rocket salad and Romesco sauce was a nicely balanced dish. Coley, which in my youth was regarded as cat food rather than sort of fish that would appear at the dining table, is hard to make thrilling, but the salad was nicely judged, the hint of spice a good idea to lift the dish and give some much-needed flavour. The coley itself was accurately timed and properly seasoned (14/20).

Even better was chicken leg, char-grilled and served with curly kale, truffled pommes puree and a sauce of the cooking juices. Onions with the chicken were nicely sweet, the chicken carefully cooked, the potatoes having smooth texture, the kale having good texture (15/20).

Blood orange parfait was served with olive oil sponge and blood orange syrup. The parfait was not too cold and had reasonable flavour, and the sponge was unusual, very light, and was a good foil for the parfait, the acidity of the oranges balancing the olive oil flavour (14/20).

Service was very capable, friendly and efficient. The bill came to just £ 27 with the set lunch and water to drink, but of course it would be more in the evening with wine. I enjoyed this meal very much, and while D&D restaurants will limit the freedom the chef has with regards to ingredient quality at this price point, the kitchen made very good use of what was available. Cooking was accurate, dishes nicely balanced and well plated. If you want to eat in a room with a view then you should consider the Blueprint Café.

Had lunch at the Blueprint Cafe, it's a hard location to beat. They sat us at a great table by the window with a panoramic view of Tower Bridge and the Thames. They also supplied a pair of binoculars, so the view is obviously a big attraction.

It's been years since my last visit, and the decor/style of the place has certainly changed. It's a much more casual venue these days.

Food wise it was a bit hit and miss (more miss than hit). The Razor clams I had were nothing special, too much lemon juice for my taste. The mackerel was a bit overcooked, but the pickled cucumbers with mustard and dill that accompanied it was delicious.

For main course I had grilled leg of lamb with tomatoes and courgettes, the lamb was perfect (well apart from the fact there was not enough of it and there was a real glut of vegetables). The meringue dessert was rather messy looking but tasted good, however the strawberry shortcake was less successful, not my idea of shortcake. It was more like oatcake, with cream and strawberries, basically rather dull.

So in conclusion, great view, OK food. I would make a return visit, but next time I will lower my expectations and focus on the view.

Worth the walk down from Pont de La Tour. Offering a much tighter menu and some much more interesting twists on the old classics. This is place is defiantly worth going for the lunch specials and the view over the water is brilliant! I have never been for dinner here though.

Food tastes much better than how it looks. Presentation is simple and almost borderline pub-like, but the marriage of all the different flavours was excellent all the way. Views are incredible too. This is much better than I expected, but service is woefully slow and feels as if the waiters are so stressed out by how they aren't able to cope with the orders.

We found this place as my group wanted to have a little bit of a fancier dinner while visiting London. We saw their three course menu for only 25 pounds; it even came with a glass of wine! We made a reservation and took the tube over. Unfortunately, there wasn't really a direct bus line that brought us there and had to walk about 15 minutes. However, the view was amazing as we walked along with a beautiful view of the London Bridge. The restaurant was in almost the furthest corner of the whole line. When we arrived, I told the staff I had made a reservation, but they looked at me very confused. The host finally came and seated us. It wasn't busy so it was fine, but my group still felt like confused why they acted the way they did. Anyways, this place has a beautiful view of the skyline and bridge so it was very lovely. We ordered the chicken terrine, cauliflower soup, and mackerel, risotto and sea bream, and the rice pudding and orange sorbet. For the wine, we were just given the option of red or white. The food was amazing. We were super impressed and happy that we were able to do such a meal without hurting our wallets. When we came to pay, I had put some of my coin pounds in hopes to get rid of them, but received even more coins! It seemed that the host didn't have any single pounds and it was pretty cumbersome. I think that the food here was great and amazing, with a beautiful view. However, service was a bit unwelcoming and made us feel uncomfortable. I would come back again for the set menu though.

I attended a supper club and Chef Patel, he & his crew treated us like royalty. We enjoyed the Beef & Beer evening. A collaboration with Small Beer Co. It was a great match (as you would expect). Chef Patel showed his flair & training with multiple mouthwatering dishes. The steak tartare was one of the best dishes I've ever had. Prime steak, finely diced, mingled with roast sunflower seed, a hint of kohlrabi, pickles and nasturtium leaf, set against a foil of sweet mustard on the side. Dishes were matched with different beers and beer cocktail the pairing knocked my socks off. The whole event ticked boxes I didn't know I had! I have to say sensational taste and value. Complex flavours delivered brilliantly.

Riverside views/ seating, large glass windows that give you a panoramic view of London, the website allows you to book in advance with relative ease. There are lunch and seasonal offers on food. The food served is tasty, made with care and you can take your time with your meal as the (very friendly) staff let you enjoy meals in peace. The food is very good value for money and the atmosphere and decor of the restaurant is lovely.

This was a private wine-themed lunch for 55 people. The Blueprint premises were closed temporarily for renovations, so the Alexander and Bjork team provided the lunch at a neighbouring restaurant in Butlers Wharf, closer to Tower Bridge with the same great views. The catering was brilliant - every dish was beautifully presented and the service was efficient and friendly. A great meal and highly successful event.

This is an excellent choice for a restaurant with a river view. The windows are floor-to-ceiling and you can see Tower Bridge in one direction, Canary Wharf in the other. The room is airy and smart, the staff are welcoming and on the ball, and the food has always been very good every time I have visited. And if you choose the set menu, you get a very good bargain indeed. Highly recommended.
