Reviews Sinabro Restaurant

So its been almost two years since I last visited Sinabro – which was just a short few weeks after they opened their doors to the residents of Battersea (or Clapham depending on your view of the whole thing). Back then I enjoyed it. It needed some tweaking, portion sizes were a little out of whack, but it had lots of potential. Head chef here at Sinabro is French-born Yoann Chevet. This young and enthusiastic Michelin trained chef runs the restaurant with his charming wife, who provides everything front of house and she’s fabulous at it. Together they’ve created a marvellous little haven tucked away on a hill in the depths of Battersea. Inside its modern, cosy and with a lovely open kitchen giving guests the chance to watch everything created right in front of their eyes. All the preparation is very meticulous.

Now before anyone lays into me after my last post in this area, i must confirm that i am, as the title says, in Battersea (but just around the corner from Clapham). The newest addition to this up and coming foodie area is Sinabro, from Michelin star trained head chef and owner, Yoann Chevet. Yoann is French and worked in both Michelin star restaurants across Paris and the UK over his career. With the restaurant boom in the UK not looking like its going to be settling down anytime soon, he's decided to bring his French 'Gastronomique' (his words not mine) style cooking to London.

Battersea and Clapham, especially around the common area is becoming a new gastronomic hotspot. With the likes of The Dairy round the corner, modern Indian Zumbura and satisfying Dip & Flip this is starting to become a real foodie destination area. With the arrival of Sinabro, things really are starting to heat up, with this potentially being one of Battersea's smartest and coolest restaurant openings this year.

After a quick chat with our lovely host and waitress for the evening. A plate of daily baked bread, amuse bouche and our starter of green pea veloute, herb cream and crouton arrived - the ingredients speak for themselves alone. It was a beautiful bowl of food which showcased every ingredient put into it. Smoothly textured and a vibrant pea flavour was softened by the creamy herb sauce. Each spoonful was an absolute delight and one which i could practically live off, it was utterly delicious and difficult to find fault.

As much addictive goodness could be said for our other starter. Beautifully executed mackerel, cooked to the point of perfect juiciness, a stunning beetroot puree and a small bundle of fresh spinach. It was a very palatable dish which although felt and looked like summer, was still a heart warming dish. My only main concern was the portion size, which failed to satisfy me.

Once we moved our way onto the main courses, things really started to get a little more serious. But portion sizes didn't. An absolute stunning piece of of lamb belly, if not also incredibly small, had so much flavour - like nothing I've experience from lamb in a long time. Soft, juicy, crispy - it had just about every texture going for it possible. A smear of tarragon and courgette sauce and a heavenly jus - this was an absolutely stunning dish without a doubt - but where had half of it gone?

On balance my next dish couldn't have been more perfectly sized. A gorgeous piece of brilliant white coley whose every piece of flesh separated with the touch of my fork. Crispy fried skin and a celeriac puree to-die-for accompanied. The plate was finished off with a sprinkling of black olive powder, a light sauce and coriander. The dish was so incredibly light, cooked to such perfection - it left you feeling as if the doors outside this cool and calm restaurant would lead to a sunny beach somewhere exotic - instead i was on a steep, wind swept hill in Battersea.

I always had a lovely time at Sinabro. The chef always offer a fantastic food menu. This cozy restaurant has left the best impressions and I recommend this one to all my friends. Hospitable hosts, fantastic food and beautiful presentation made in front of the clients with an open kitchen. I recommend to everyone but check the menu online s it’s a unique menu every 15days. I am moving from London soon and I will definitely miss the restaurant but I will come back.

This is a very special place and our favorite local restaurant. Sujin always makes us feel special! The food is world class and the menu is constantly changing with the season. When we had dinner there last night there was a fresh pea tortellini as a starter that was stunning in it's lightness and flavor. Everything was good but that stood out as one of the best dishes we've had this year anywhere. As always the wines Sujin chose to pair with the dishes where excellent. Do whatever you can to check this place out, it's a true local gem!

Delicious, fresh, and creative dishes that were paired very nicely with wine. The duck was some of the best I’ve ever had and the strawberry dessert was a great blend of flavors and textures. The atmosphere was cozy and elegant. We will be coming back.

My partner and I had an amazing meal at Sinabro. The menu was fantastic, all the flavours were amazing and the dining atmosphere is really cosy. We especially enjoyed sitting at the bar seating and getting to watch the chef prepare all the lovely food! Perfect for a date night :)

I would describe the food as good, nothing more nothing less. Some dishes worked and some really did not, so the ideas and cooking are uneven. Service is great, very attentive and helpful. Atmosphere a bit dead when we were there, but it was mid- week. Would happily give it another try at some point.

What an absolutely fabulous local restaurant. Amazing food in a lovely intimate setting with great service. Only one menu choice so not for fussy eaters but so delicious that didn’t impact us and I ate things I perhaps otherwise wouldn’t have done. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Some of the best cooking in south-west London, all done in full view from the bar seats and so calmly by Chef Yoann. And such a warm welcoming atmosphere created by Sujin, always in the right place at the right time, with a friendly smile and expert advice. It really is our favourite place to go for a relaxing, delicious evening meal.

As always, we had a wonderful dinner at Sinabro - this time to celebrate our son's birthday. The food is always excellent - interesting combinations of ingredients that make visiting Sinabro an exciting treat. The service is always impeccable with care given to explaining each course and its ingredients. The wine flights are always well paired, and obviously there are less expensive alternatives. The front of house is cheerful - it has a few tables and bar seats overlooking the kitchen and food preparation area, with a quieter area at the back of the restaurant. We would highly recommend a visit. Thank you!
