This is great place to stop by for a quick, hearty and fresh Sushi/Japanese food. I have so far had their King prawn tempura, clear soup and Salmon sushi roll, on three different days. Portions are great for sharing and also the service is quick. A very clean restaurant and friendly staff too :-)
Good ambiance and good service. Decent selection and combinations of maki rolls, but I was a little disappointed in the sushi because the rice kept falling off and the rolls fell apart a little too easily. It was also mildly surprising to hear that the kitchen seemed to be speaking in Vietnamese, but this was not an issue I considered.
Pedimos um barco com cerca de 36 peças + nigiri + sashimi por 40£. Chegou para 2 pax é o sushi era bom. Sentámo-nos logo que chegámos e o staff foi simpático.
Being a vegetarian, I have not been to many sushi restaurants in london but after seeing their menu, I decided to give them a try. We went for lunch in a group of 17. The food took some time expectedly, but it was extremely well done. Pro tip: Not on the menu, but you can have a big boat of sushi if you want to try out different items. Its suitable for 4 people.
This little place is a very cozy restaurant with a good variety of different tastes. It's actually a secret place for me and two of my friends to come often and eat as much as we can as prices are very good for a decent quality dinner. I've been coming here for years but it seems that only recently people have started to notice it. The decor isn't fancy or traditional but a must try.
We popped into Mai Sushi on a whim and were seriously impressed. As with many sushi places in London it has an unimpressive exterior. But the food is excellent, the service friendly and fast, and the price very reasonable.
I had a sashimi salad, which is an excellent idea for a dish and one that I'd not had before. Personally I'd have gone for more of an asian veg salad, but the plain salad ingredients are more than compensated for by an excellent dressing. The sashimi itself was very good.
My partner is vegetarian, so sushi places are often difficult. But the veg sushi with pickles was very good, as was the grilled tofu.
I stopped to have lunch here because I was in the neighborhood and I was surprised about how good my meal ended up being. Even though Mai Sushi doesn't look like much from the outside, the food they have is authentic and the quality of their fish is quite good.
If you're sitting outside they will sometimes forget about you and you'll mostly have to work to get the attention of the waiters. However, the sushi is really tasty and their prices are very reasonable. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here but if you're in the area it's quite a good place for sushi.
I've been to Mai Sushi more times than I'd like to admit and have never been disappointed by the food. The restaurant is tucked away in a fairly nondescript area in between King's Cross and Euston station, but gets pretty crowded during Friday and Saturday nights, so do make a reservation beforehand! Like many others, my favourite dish here is the crunchy tuna roll, but their other sushi rolls are also delicious! I also like the miso grilled eggplant/aubergine and the ten don (tempura rice). Prices are quite reasonable for sushi in central London and I love how they don't skimp on quality - the dishes taste the same every time I go and are fresh, authentic and drool-inducing. Service is also very polite and efficient.
If you're in the area or your train back home inevitably gets delayed, do give this place a try!
We had the smallest of the sushi boats and we were able to polish it off between the two of us. The flavour didn’t quite match the presentation but it was still decent quality sushi and I appreciate how they let us swap out one sushi roll in the set for another that we preferred. They also had a selection of bento boxes on the menu which looked really good and I would be keen to visit again to try.
Totally worth the hype! A friend has been here several times so walked us through what to expect - no frills vibes, NY Chinatown local feel. The wine is not great & we were told the staff are quite short with you but they were really nice to us and super fast!
We started with edame & lightly fried tofu, which was divine & I could have had the whole portion to myself. We got pickles on the side, which were also delicious, fresh and crisp with great flavour.
We got sushi boat #4, and despite the look it's honestly fantastic grade sushi for the price point.
100% recommend for great sushi & chill vibes with a close friend or two.
I really liked this place not sure why it's less than 4.5 stars. A lot of people, crowded but very comfortable with polite and fast staff.
Sushi were great, while sauce for me was too salty. Highly recommend.
A family run restaurant, small but cosy. I had the box that came with miso soup, pickles, salad, sashimi, nigiri and one roll. The fish is fresh, the portion is good and the flavors are well balanced. I came here on Wednesday around 8pm, and the restaurant was almost full. Two things to improve:
1. Cut maki equally, otherwise it looks sloppy
2. Service wasn't bad but it can be better. I closed the menu to indicate I was ready but took a few minutes for someone to notice that. No one checked with me on the food, that's just standard practice.
Decent Japanese food, open till 10pm. If you are staying at nearby hotels and craving for Asian food.
Great place! We tried the tempura, sushi bento box and the sushi mix (think it was the Mai combo). Blown away by how delicious and fresh the sashimi tasted - the fish melted in our mouths! Not an easy achievement to find such fresh fish in London. We also enjoyed some ice cream for dessert - sesame flavour and a tempura fried ice cream, both delicious. Oh, and the big jug of hot sake felt like a bargain - 250 ml for £7! Portions weren't very big overall but as expected with the cost of living crisis. Service was friendly and the place is clean. Would recommend to others and I'd consider coming back specifically for the sashimi.
Great sushi place near central London at reasonable prices. I highly recommend it!
Excellent food and service. The surrounding area is unfortunately bad; I would recommend eating inside as you may be approached by people trying to steal from you.
Decided give this place a try. Food was actually pretty good especially the sushi which was fresh. Soya sauce was a little salty as mentioned by other reviewers. Had the fried starter selection but not sure that was worth the price though it tasted good. Overall a pretty good sushi place in the area and would definitely come again.
Looks like a mom and pop hole in the wall japanese restaurant. Service was friendly and quick. Sushi was super fresh and delicious!
Very authentic restaurant and tasty sushi. They have lots of different rolls, and the fish was very fresh. The ratio of fish to rice was perfect. Some places fill you up with rice! This place was great, very fairly priced, and the staff were friendly and very efficient.
Really nice sushi, very fresh fish every time. Reasonably priced, we’ve been regulars since 2018!
My family go to Mai Sushi very often and have never been disappointed. The whole atmosphere in the restaurant is great and food is delicious.
Staff: Lovely staff with great attitude. They are always willing to recommend dishes and are patient when waiting for your order.
Food : The food is always delicious and doesn't take long to get to us. The sushi is made when you order so it is very fresh when it gets to you.
Everything about dinner at Mai Sushi is amazing and it is surprising to see so many negative reviews as I have never had a problem when I eat here.
Good sushi place next to Euston and St Pancras. The sushis are good and relatively modestly priced. The atmosphere and decoration could be improved, no effort whatsoever has been put in by the owner.
The staff is friendly.
The sushi boat 1 is fairly large with 60 pieces including Sashimi. The fried items are hot and very well done. The soy sauce is rather salty and strong flavored. Sake tend to come in the 300 ml bottle which is nice for smaller group sizes.
I really like this little family-run place on a Euston side street. Good food, friendly fast service, and relaxed atmosphere. This is definitely going to become one of my local go tos.
Authentic japanese restaurant with great selection of sushi and hot dishes. We had the bento boxes which are an excellent deal for the amount of food and variety you get. Highlights were the Nigir, Sashimi, and the Tempura. Highly recommended.
We’ve been eating here for years and it’s still one of the best sushi restaurants in London. We love it. The owners are lovely too
What a little gem of a place! We enjoyed everything about our experience last night. All the fish is so fresh and there is such a variety to choose from. The black sesame ice cream was to die for! We are definitely coming back
