we love our family, friends and food not always in that order! but find a place to bring them all together and share some wonderful memories is really what makes us happy- we recently had our anniversary and my wife's birthday so decided to make a special trip into London booked a show and looked for restaurants - big choice difficult choice but decided to look at a few reviews, luckily we found Applebee's and booked
we decided to get early to the market and spent a hour or so wandering round tasting samples of what ever caught our eye or our nose.
we arrived by chance outside and saw the Applebee's restaurant sign with a que of 20 or so and thought wow will we get in? on closer inspection the restaurant have a hot plate cooking seafood in wraps and the aroma's were mouth watering and attracted a lot of hungry souls.
although a full hour early we decided to look at the menu and see what the restaurant looked like as this was our first visit
The fresh seafood board was full of delights and after viewing were about to leave for further market shopping when a friendly face with a broad smile approached and asked if he could help, after a brief discussion he offered to bring the full menu and the drinks list and showed us the table where we would be sitting it was occupied by regulars he approached them with a ripple of laughter and a few minutes later we were seated and chatting to Jack and deciding what wine to have with our dinner
Jack's knowledge of wine was exceptional and after a few photos were taken we were left to enjoy one of the best meals we have eaten, stunning.
we have arranged for our friends and family to meet again at the restaurant in September and are looking forward to the experience and meeting Jack again
it was a real pleasure with a vibrant market tumbling past and to find the sanctuary of a beautiful seafood restaurant with great staff and a first class owner Jack it was an experience we will treasure forever.
As the subject of recent culinary trauma, I felt I needed a bit of a safe option for a meal. Hence we decided on Applebys. Hopefully no surprises here as no polling agencies were involved (unlike *cough* Brexit) but the general commentary seems to regard it favourably. Skipping straight to the mains, we decided to go heavy on the seafood at this fishmonger-by-day, fish-restaurant-by-night shop. The hope was that they would not be busy serving the slops of the day but instead would be eager to prepare exquisite cuisine.
I enjoyed a late lunch here with a couple of friends. In short stick to what they are good at ... Fish! I went for the surf and turf and the steak was not good. On the other hand the lobster was fantastic. Lovely and sweet and buttery.
Half decent wine list and good service. Simple interior.
If you're a fish lover go here. The menu has the date printed in it, showing they vary it & use fresh fish. The dishes are interesting, simple & brilliantly cooked. We'll be going back.
The fish was really fresh, especially the prawns which were not only huge but totally juicy. The cajun spices gave the whole thing a great kick and really complimented the sweet chilli sauce. It’s the perfect pit-stop lunch that will revive you and indulge you in the knowledge that you are eating something exceedingly fresh and of great quality, just as things should be in Borough.
I had the experience of visiting this place and found it to be quite decent in terms of food. The food was delicious and it was quite reasonable as well. The only thing that wasn't that impressive was the service. I feel the staff could have been a little more warm and friendly. All in all it is a nice place to be in.
This place is really known by the seafood that they will be providing you with. I liked the starters more than the mains but that is one man's opinion. If you are planning on visiting here do try scallop app it is perfect.
The only thing that I found not good enough about this place was service which according to me was pretty slow and they really should work on that.
This place is situated outdoors and is a small stand offering seafood wraps and fish. To begin with, they a huge variety to offer. Their Cajun fish and garlic prawns are a MUST try, Cajun seasoning surreptitiously lifts up all the flavors and keeps you longing for more. The smell itself is a bait. The fish is fresh, delightful and grilled in front of you. Coming to my wrap, I ordered a melange of Salmon, Cod and Haddock, nicely blended flavors and filling. On the side were crunchy vegetables and Tortilla sauce. This place is value for money, the food being fresh and healthy. Definitely a good option for a light lunch.
The seafood paradise offers some great and fresh sea food. We had tried the fish fillets which were savory and sumptuous. the only downside being that they offer no sides such as mashed potatoes or chips to their mains. Come here when you want to overload yourself with fish. The prices are reasonable and the service is swift.
I really like this restaurant for the quality of fish they serve and that too at quite reasonable prices. The staff is always amiable and the service is quite good. I must recommend you to try their scallops and aubergines. They are really delicious. The food is very well-prepared and presented. They also have certain deals offering huge discounts if you book 24 hours in advance for a Saturday dinner.
This restaurant is a real gem in the city.
they have a few fishes on display and will cook any that you choose.
The cafe has a warm, cozy atmosphere. The food is particularly great. The service is prompt. The staff is also friendly and attentive.
The prices are reasonable.
I have my personal favorite dishes from this place which i usually order and they have been pretty consistent with the flavors and textures. Try coming to this place during lunch hours as by late evening it gets really busy. Garlic prawn wrap is perfectly cooked in spices, duck sandwich has always been very delicious and malmouth coffee is the best drink that goes with my food.
This place is a branch of a famous American restaurant. The food here is well prepared and quite fresh. Being a restaurant that serves fish, the fish here is always good. Good ingredients are used in cooking. It is comfort food and would not disappoint you in terms of portions and servings. The food is also great value for money. The ambiance is good, with a well-done decor.
I came here over the weekend and it was quite busy. The food here was really fresh and the fish of the day, a Dover came with good char marks. Each of the dishes had freshly used ingredients. The sea food salad cam abundant with lots of variety however the portions were a bit disappointing. The staff here was very courteous and quick.
In all, I had wonderful time, with good quality food, service and ambiance.
The restaurant does has the tendency to get packed, so advance booking is advised. The ambiance is pretty amazing as we were seated outside viewing the market of the area.
The reviews we consulted before going in indicated that we would either adore the place or think it only normal but thankfully for us the experience was awesome.
Try the softshell crab and lobster risotto.
This was a lovely place with a great vibe and lots of people. The place also had some good food and drinks, the drinks were served chilled. The service was nice too and the staff was friendly and warm. Will definitely go back to this place soon.
I had the best risotto in my whole life. i was so delighted that we bumped into this place. My partner had mixed frill fish which was according to her 'very delicious' and there is one thing about my partner that she does not compliment easily.
They offered us great service and the desserts were great too.
I would love to go here again.
I love this restaurant. They serve some amazing fish dishes. The staff is very efficient, and well-versed with not just their own dishes, but also the fish in general, and thus the restaurant usually serves the best specials. This is a must-try place if you are looking for a nice and tasty fish cuisine.
I have eaten such fresh sea food only here. And prior to ordering the staff warns you about it being fresh as the high prices, dissuade one from ordering. As such, I can assure you, that the price is for the quality one surely cannot find elsewhere. I enjoyed the entire fish by myself!
We make it a point to visit this restaurant whenever we are visiting the city. The fish soup offered here is absolutely delightful and perhaps one of the tastiest I have had a chance to eat. It is made with fresh ingredients and the other dishes are very delectable. The restaurant can be called expensive but it is completely worth it.
I've been to this place a couple of times and this time was better than all the previous visits. The restaurant has improved a lot since the first time i came here and now is definitely the best in the neighbourhood. The food here is great. The appetizers were quirky and yummy at the same time. Loved the salads.
These guys regularly change their menu , so you can have the variety of dishes.
If you love eating fish then don't miss this place because they will offer you some dishes which are going to blow your mind.
The food is brilliantly cooked .
I liked the atmosphere too. I would highly recommend this place,
I went to this restaurant and had fish and prawns. Some of the spices used were excellent and completed the dish. The food was very well-prepared and the chefs were also quite inventive. The staff was friendly and anything that I had was completely fresh and now it is one of my favourite restaurants for lunch.
My expectations from this place was not too high.Given its locality, in general it is difficult to find a place to eat especially after work hours so i was pretty fine with the bar stools i was offered. But what a revelation! The food is pretty amazing .My order of Ceasar salad and Lobster ravioli were fresh and delicious.
I don't agree with this review at all. This is a roadside restaurant in a busy neighbourhood. The place is supposed to be bustling with people, offer a simple variety for everybody, and charge a decent sum. But I have been visiting this place frequently for many years now, and I have never once been disappointed. This is a friendly, warm and lively place and it serves some of the best fish and chips in the city.
The atmosphere was quite a relaxed one and the food that I had was absolutely mouth-watering. I ordered Fish and Chips and found the entire meal to be pretty good. The service was also quick and I would definitely return to this place and would suggest you to do the same.
If your into fish then this is a must go to! They are all about the fish, cooked simply without all this master chef messing about the result is great quality food that easily rivals any fish Restaurant on the coast of the British isles. Coupled with a collection of some well balanced wines and beers. If you have space there is quite a stunning range of deserts. Best book as this place is VERY popular with many returning .... If your on the run just look at the que for the wraps each lunch time!
I'd really suggest a visit even if its fitting it in with a quick shopping spree in the famous market!
I absolutely loved this place! So much so that we had to go a second time during our few day visit just to try more dishes.
The seafood is so fresh and the dishes are creative and taste amazing. It is located at a good spot in borough market and the service was really good as well.
I would definitely recommend taking the scallop starter and the oysters as well!
Among the bustle of Borough Market I came across Applebee's Fish. I was so glad that a table was available inside to get away from the crowd and the noise.
Within relaxed décor, very friendly and efficient staff worked well to deliver great tasting, well presented, food. My whole Seabream was perfect!
Although sounding lovely, I did not try any dessert, so it gives me something to look forward to next time.
As a sea food lover, I wholly recommend a visit.
Took a while for our mains to come, but all in all very worth it. The pasta was amazing and fresh, and the portions were very hearty. Our server was very understanding and tried her best to get our food to us. The seafood was all very fresh.
Such a beautiful place in an amazing location. Ambience was so chilled and inviting. Staff were friendly and helpful. The food was out of this world! Cocktails were delicious! Definitely be returning to sample more delicious fish
This place is a great little Italian run fish restaurant in borough market where the fish is always fresh and the food tastes as good as it looks. The staff know their fish and are always helpful and not overbearing. I tried a cold Italian fish soup called caciucco which I had never tried before and which was very refreshing on a hot summers day. I followed that by tuna steak with a side of chips which was cooked to perfection medium rare. No bad attitude in this place just great food and great service at a reasonable price point.
High quality and very tasty shellfish lunch
We had mussels and dressed crab for main courses. Both dishes were delicious, fresh and well presented with generous portions. Service was efficient and friendly and the wine list had some intersting wines by the glass.
We are at the outside terrace which has a view of the market entrance.
One small gripe, the chips were not up to the standard of the other dishes
Went to the stall on Borough Market. Very friendly and efficient service. I ordered the mixed (fish and prawns) wrap, and it was very tasty. The slight char and the balance of sauces was perfect.
Today’s brunch spot was at @Applebee’s Fish in the centre of Borough Market, London.
The atmosphere was cosy and quite busy.
The waiters were professional and friendly. They even catered to a visiting dog by giving him a bowl of water.
Seating options were inside with a mix of tall tables or low tables or outside under the gazeebo.
There was a great selection of fish dishes on the menu.
As we were seated, we were served some tasty Olives and a selection of bread with garlic butter and a homemade olive spread.
For our main dish we went for the
Luxury seafood platter (for two) which had a split lobster, scallops & tiger prawns, this was topped with garlic & chilli butter and served with a side of hand cut truffel chips and samphire.
The price of this was £125.
Our small table for two couldnt quite fit all of our food and drinks.
The main dish overall was a decent portion for two sharing and very tasty, the sauce really brought the fish flavours out.
The chips were not eaten as they smelled like they were fried in a funny smelling oil however, the samphire complimented the main meal very well as a side.
We also ordered some still bottled water and Lychee mocktails which were tasty and refreshing.
We went inside to use the toilets, there were two avaliable, one being a disabled toilet and abother close to the kitchen where a chef kindly directed me to because there was no clear sinage.
The toilet I used was failey clean however, there was half used toilet roll everywhere. There was about three rolls on the ledge which was a bit wet and one on top of the toilet tank cover. Mabye a checking system should be in place to ensure they are left presentable after some time. There was a dyson hand dryer avalaliable and some nice music playing from the soeakers in the ceiling.
Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely like to come back to try more from the menu.
Thank you for a lovley experience!

Good lunch , found it via google and read the reviews. Service was attentive and friendly. The mussels were great as a starter , plump flesh in a delightful white onion sauce. The fish and chips was good, batter was not oily , nice and crispy - the fish was well cooked: soft and flaky. Chips were good too , perhaps add a dash of vinegar for a more authentic feel. To end off the meal , had some desert - the creme brûlée was amazing , really nice and the taste lingered for a while after I had left the restaurant. I appreciated that a service charge was automatically included , as it saves me the hassle of calculating a tip. Overall it was a good experience and would visit again to try some other menu items.
Very tasty food. The sauce the seafood was cooked in was unbelievably tasty. The luxurious Seaford platter could have had some other seafood elements other than prawns, scallops and lobster for the price.
The creme brulèè was very good. Liked it better than the coconut cake.
The fish and chips were good. There is only one option and it is Cod. The washroom was not clean enough. The patio has some potholes that’s why I gave the atmosphere 3 stars. The waitress was friendly and accommodating.
Great place for fish and chips! Also good for people watching right in front of Borough Market. My son said it was the best fish & chips he'd ever had, and i can't argue it was very good!
Lovely place and will definitely be returning. My 6 year old loved the mussels and the salmon fillet and chips while my eldest loved their tuna steak with season vegetables. They both left very happy and stuffed. I also got the Oreo cake for my son as a take out which is not something they actually do but kindly accommodated me. He loved it and when asked for a bite looked at me as if I had lots my mind eating it in one go. I will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu.
The famous fish & chip was just perfect , very delicious, crispy and fresh. Friendly staff and service with great atmosphere and seating area.
Thank you for a lovely dining experience with friends who booked to celebrate my promotion.
This is a seafood restaurant with limited alternatives to fish. It would be nice to have more prawn dishes. There was only one I could have which was Madagascar prawns which were lovely.
I couldn't taste the truffle in the mash potato but the long stem brocoli and the hand cut chips were nice.
I also had the chocolate dessert which was beautifully presented. Compliments to the kitchen!
Everyone enjoyed the food and I loved the moscato dessert wine!
Friendly service, the staff were attentive and always checked in on us. Food was amazing, fresh fish brought in everyday so the menu is dependant on the day but still a wide range to choose from!
Good selection of seafood prepared well but rather small portions. Service was competent.
