Silka is located on Southwark Street right inside Borough Market. We always choose Silka purely for the convenience of it's location. However, our last return visit was very different to previous. Prior to the visit last week, we last dined at Silka last year and wow what a change. From the outside it is more noticeable. Walking down the steps to the restaurant the changes were noticeable. Fresh and updated. The owner introduced himself and actually took time to converse with us and get to know is and what we liked in terms of food and palate. My god were his choices of dishes amazing and the best curry we have eaten not only at Silka but in the area, almost on par with Est. India and Mango Indian, no surprise there as it turns out the same management team now own Silka. To summarise, great menu, amazing flavours and friendly staff. Highly recommend and will return soon
We stumbled upon Silka while looking for another restaurant. And were happily surprised.
Reading the past reviews for the restaurant took me by surprise too.
Dinner was so pleasant. Our party of 9, including kids, ordered quite a variety, and had all the dishes wiped out clean by the end! Chicken, Lamb curry dishes were delicious; Naans, Tandoori starters dish were a delight too; Dal and Paneer Saag was well cooked, not the best but it was hot, well seasoned (and presumably is perfectly in line for the London palette. Now we shouldn't forget where the restaurant is based. It is just very silly & unfair that some people expect what they are used to back home in LON!)
I have lived in London almost a year and have eaten at many 'Indian' restaurants, which in reality offer a bastardized experience of Indian cooking. Silka is definitely not amongst them. This restaurant is way way better. I didn't find anything complain- worthy to be honest.
Not to forget that the staff gave a great service, and made sure we were well fed and happy!
Mixed bag here tonight. First bad was very slow service to get our water and our order. First good once order was in food service was fast with appropriate gap between app and main. Korma, pasanda, and makhani very good. Goan salmon horrible. They agreed that salmon was bad and didn't charge for it. Really close to a thumbs down but customer service in the end saved them.
Perhaps the best anglo-indian ever?. To the unobservant, this restaurant is easily missed; it's quite simply a white door onto a main road with a simple logo printed on to distinguish it from everything else. My Fiancée and I found the place on one of our regular "wonders" around London looking for places to eat, and we haven't forgotten it since.
When you walk down the stairs to this basement restaurant the decor strikes you first as very clean, and very modern. While I didn't like the darkness of the actual restaurant itself with the only light coming from colored neon mood lights, my other half loved it.
The restaurant itself is tidy and modern, has a busy buzz but is somehow, totally removed from the outside world. My favorite feature of the whole place was the huge portal into the kitchen, you can hear everything going on and see the chefs running about and cooking.
But now we move on to the food. Yes again this is one of those English Indian restaurant, (which typically I hate, but my Mrs. loves) but even I will admit, I really, really liked it. The food was full of flavor and different tastes, without being to over the top. To give you an example, the Onion Bhaji, which in most restaurants is a bit of a bland affair, was full of spices and flavors in Silka.
While the service wasn't great, they were quick, but the food and the decor more than made up for this slight failing. And the price didn't make me grumble either.
Possibly because my previous Curry adventures took me to fine dining restaurants I wasn’t blown away by the food. Don’t get me wrong they were all delicious and in fact comparable to what I generally eat back home in Vancouver but this wasn’t the elevated Indian Cuisine I’ve experiencing so far in London. This is good comfort food that is tasty and filling. Perfect for filling a hungry belly after shopping all day and exploring the Borough Market.
Nice Indian Restaurant with good food quality and nice ambience. The place is a bit small.
good was good, but i believed the nan are slightly undercooked as we felt like we were eating the dough at some parts of the nan. overall was good.
service is 5/5
toilet cleanliness 5/5
wifi for guest - extra points! love that as a tourist
Stumble upon this place by accident while on my way to boroughs market. Entrance is small but open up to a cozy place. I ordered the duck masala and the tandoori selection. The duck masala was flavorful and creamy, and the tandoori was delicious especially the shrimp. Truly one of the best Indian restaurant I've tried. The waiters are very friendly and attentive, and they made sure I was taken care of since I was dining by myself. I wish I could have tried more of their food! Wonderful experience and I can't wait to come back.
Absolutely wonderful food and service. We went on a Saturday afternoon on a bank holiday weekend - atmosphere was peaceful with plenty of space and food hot when served. I also got a special little cake for my birthday from Zuber. It made all the difference. It’s often the little things that count. This topped it off - thank you so much everyone.
👍👍Excellent food and service. The place was packed and the maitre de had us sit and wait a few minutes and kept us informed as to how our seat was coming along. Like I said. Great food and service. Yummy
We were intrigued by the underground entrance and made our way down. The aromas and smell was just delicious. We were quickly seated despite the busy atmosphere. Service was very efficient and friendly - from Rimi (lovely waitress!) and the food was just delightful. The flavours and quality of the food were up there with the best Indian I have had in the world. Highly recommend
Wonderful food and exceptional service. The waiters and waitress were extremely friendly and helpful and we enjoyed every moment of being there. Highly recommend it - go for the food and enjoy the service. 2 thumbs up!!!

A very nice little restaurant located in the oldest market in Europe. And I cannot recommend this place enough, my 5 reasons for giving this place a 5 star review.
1. The staff here are very friendly, professional and will understand everything you ask them.
2. The restaurant is very contemporary and clean. Interior is well maintained and kept up to the highest standard.
3. Management is highly proficient and efficient. Mr Jubair is a true gentleman and a prince among men. He keeps this place well maintained, treating his staff well and his customers like Kings and Queens.
4. The food... don't get me started. I had lamb chops starter (recommend by Jubair) and it was so soft and moist that it tasted better than most chicken. Then I had Lamb Mirchi (again recommended by Jubair) which was so tasty with the right amount of spices for that chilli kick I love and also the taste was phenomenol too.
5. the drinks and desserts... the usual drinks they have there but their desserts are amazing. I had Mint Tea and also warm gulab jaman with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and some caramel sauce that worked a treat (again recommend by the manager, Jubair)
I highly recommend this place for the amazing food, the wonderful experience and the lovely people
So I'll say why I dropped the star. Firstly poppadoms were a bit soft, implying they were not the freshest and as it's underground so there are no windows, which takes away the ambiance for me a bit.
But apart from that everything else was excellent. Juber our server was very friendly and wasn't too fast or too slow. The rest of the food was really tasty and a correct portion size for the price, e.g. the rice is definitely for 1. Particular favourite was the Prawn Saag. The decor was beautiful, especially the toilets.
Also right next to the London Bridge tube entrance.
What a lovely spot with tasty food and helpful staff.
Really enjoyed an unrushed meal
This restaurant is very good in terms of food. Those of you who have eaten here can tell you how delicious and quality the food here is. Been to this restaurant many times, but everything is very well priced. So I like this restaurant very much. Restaurant Manager & Siddique Bhai are very good people. They gave me enough time for me. I like their service very much.
Had a wonderful time at silka today, nice meal good ambience and good service the curry's were so good, would recommend their prawn curry will visit their again for sure.
It was the best Indian cuisine I've had in London so far. The wait for food was a bit long but you can understand as it was busy at the time. I wasn't quite keen on been given a time by which we had to leave the table. Nevertheless I would definitely recommend this place if your in search for an authentic Indian cuisine.
This was really great!! We had a delicious meal. We saw this place by accident, but no regrets at all!
We ordered the Chennai curry (spicy) and the Kadai (full of flavours). Can recommend if you’re looking for some quick Indian mail with quality.
The best place we have visited last night .
young staff ,5* service and the food was fabulous .specially chicken Jalfrezi was yummy .For sure ,we will be here very soon.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Silka Restaurant in Borough Market, London, where I received exceptional service from Zahir. From the moment I walked in, Zahir greeted me with a warm smile and made me feel welcome. Throughout my visit, his attentiveness and genuine care for my dining experience were evident.
Zahir's knowledge of the menu was impressive, and he provided fantastic recommendations based on my preferences. He was patient and took the time to explain each dish in detail, ensuring that I made the right choices. His friendly nature and willingness to go the extra mile made the evening even more enjoyable.
During the meal, Zahir was always available when needed, refilling drinks and promptly addressing any requests. His professionalism and attention to detail were truly commendable. Zahir's genuine passion for providing excellent service shone through, enhancing the overall ambiance of the restaurant.
Decent place to have indian food!
Very good service from Jahir and Sabir. Highly recommend their Tandoori lamb chop.
Delicious Indian dishes with affordable prices, friendly staff (especially Juber) and a cosy underground venue. For a meal for 2 with 2 large glasses of wine we paid 60£ but we ordered way too much and had to take away half. However, It is not an issue in this restaurant as they provide boxes and a bag, so don't be afraid to really explore their menu and if you order too much just take it away 😊. Either way, the food was exceptional. We ordered popadums, samosa papdi chat as a starter, bread basket and 2 curries: chicken nawabi kurma and lamb sagwala. The former being more on a sweet verge and the latter on spicy. Both were great but my favourite was kurma! Don't be shy to also ask for advice from the waitresses if you don't know what to choose. They are happy to help. While paying we were also given a mint chocolate to sweeten the meal. We spent such a lovely evening/ date night at silka borough. We were also very well treated by the staff. We will definitely be coming back.
If you are looking for exceptional Indian food, want to be treated well and have a nice evening/lunch then definitely visit this place :)
