Great food and amazing mozzarella bar
A slice of Italy in London. This place is just heaven for the cheese lovers and makes me crave more and more ! One of my fav Italian places where you can enjoy a very chilled lunch/dinner in a cozy atmosphere in Central London. ✔️✔️✔️
Mini boccocini balls, smoked mozzarella, burrata, and an enormous braid of mozzarella arrived at the table. It was an overwhelming quantity of cheese… but I couldn’t wait to dive in. Fresh mozzerella and flatbreads at Obicà Restaurant, St Paul’s, London. With 23 restaurants across the globe (from Japan to the USA), Obicà’s cheesy empire is growing fast. Just a few weeks ago they opened their latest London restaurant, in the heart of the city by St Paul’s.
We had an excellent meal at Obica. The service was professional and attentive and the room had a nice, cozy feel about it, particularly pleasant on a cold, rainy evening. We had the La gran degustazione, which is a tasting menu with classic mozzarella or smoked mozzarella served with burrata, which is fantastic, a selection of cured meats, Sicilian caponata and basil and sun-dried tomato pestos. We added an additional small plate of caponata & grilled artichokes. We did later have another order of the burrata with truffle oil. It was more than enough for 3 people. It was a very pleasant evening.
Italian delights (from the finest Slow Food salumi and artisanal produce to deliciously fresh mozzarella) paired with adventurous Italian cocktails and a cosmopolitan mix of like-minded food and drink enthusiasts… The invitation promised all the makings of a smashing evening and on this occasion turned out to be a stand-out affair hosted by Obicà (likely the world’s first Mozzarella Bar) and Luxardo Cocktails (the fine makers behind a range of Italian liqueurs)!
It dawned on me the other day that I am an avid consumer of tomatoes. In our house they’re a salad staple (a certain someone even made a multi-coloured tomato-only salad the other day), I obsessively stockpile the tinned ones because you never know when you’ll need to rustle up the go-to pasta dish, and I’ve been known to squirt T-sauce on a lot of things. This epiphany came to me as I was sitting in the dimly lit downstairs dining room of Obica, listening to someone talk about tomatoes and actually getting excited. Hand on my heart, I don’t even care how lame that made me sound because these tomatoes are worth that cringey look you’re giving me now.
Obicà is the brainchild of Silvio Ursini, a Neapolitan by birth, who dreamed up the idea more than 20 years ago. His inspiration came partly from his local salumeria in Naples, where lines formed for fresh, hand-pinched, creamy mozzarella balls served on plastic plates. He imagined a locale that combined the best of both culinary worlds.
Pretty good, but at least this dish was basically just buttered noodles. Good for what it was but overpriced. Dessert was delicious, service 7/10, and very nice atmosphere. Didn’t have a bad experience but not on my favorites list
Arrived just after lunch rush hour.
4pax
We got a table pretty quickly and service was good. Kids pizza was done in a rabbits head shape and went down a big treat.
Herself had a salad which was very tasty.
I went with the mushroom pizza which again, was very tasty. Staff we very friendly. 4 pizza's/glass of wine/beer/ water came to £94 including service charge. I never asked if the wait staff actually get the service charge!
I would highly recommend this restaurant for tourists and locals.
They were able to accommodate two of us to sit and eat at the counter as a walk-in, otherwise we would’ve needed a booking for a table. The service was very friendly, and all the food and drinks were delicious.
I would recommend trying to book a table in advance. Overall, a very good dinner in a bustling area of the city.
Ok food with decent service but a bit overpriced. Wide selections menu.
The BEST Italian food I’ve ever had! It was so yummy everything from the bread to the tiramisu. The must try is the mozzarella cheese, it’s the best mozzarella I’ve ever tried. Everything we ordered was an easy 10/10. The service was great and they were sweet, especially the manager I believe, he was very helpful in explaining the dishes and making things clear to us. MUST TRY IN LONDON!
We just happened upon this restaurant and we are so glad we did. We were seated right away. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. The mozzarella taster was fabulous with titrated herb and garlic bread. It was a relaxed meal with lovely chianti and fab food. I'd love to go back again.
The food was excellent. I had the burrata and assorted breads. Everything was delicious. We then shared the lasagna and truffle pasta. It was also excellent. Very tasty. The truffle wasn't too strong like it can be, but rather delicate yet flavourful.
The only slight flaw is that the bill gets quickly high, as there are so many things to try. However it is great quality food.
We found this by chance (walking from tube to theatre) and liked the look of the menu outside. Three of us had pasta dishes and I had the Italian burger! We were surprised afterwards to find to find it is part of a "chain" - although most of them are in Italy! It really does have an individual feel with quality food. Drinks prices seemed a bit high but it was the West End. Very good.
Stopped over for lunch during the August Bank holiday. It was quiet empty for a Sunday. The menu had some decent vegetarian options. The food was delicious and service was reasonably quick. Callout to the tortellini, focaccia, cheese platters. The wine pairings were quite good as well. Expect to pay around d £30 to £40 per head.
Excellent food. High quality dishes with fresh ingredients. Friendly service. Cocktails weren't very good and bathrooms need maintenance (minus 1 star). Plenty of indoor seating and some outdoor seating is also available. Nice ambiance.
Smoked mozzarella wasn't great. I ordered spaghetti carbonara which was way too salty. I changed it for a pizza Nduja which tastes great but came with hardly any meat. Wine was good and dessert was alright too.
Our vegetation pizza was freshly made and absolutely delicious! The food is quite reasonably priced as well. The staff is warm and smiling. I would definitely visit again.
If you're looking for a delicious dinner in Soho, this is the place to go. The staff are super friendly and can recommend yummy items off the menu.
Highly recommend the Mozzarella experience, and they can make this vegetarian if you want.
absolutely spectacular restaurant. One of the best pizza I’ve ever had in my life. Incredibly kind staff as well.
What a fabulous place! Loved the food and drinks. The pizza was one of the best I've had in London. Negronis were awesome. Definitely going again to try some of the mozzarella stuff.
Rea was an amazing server, she accommodated to all our needs with a positive attitude. Highly recommend her as a server. She elevates the experience.
Aubergine caponata was delicious and the pizza is also very good. However avoid the wine (it’s overpriced) and the bruschetta (you’ll need a microscope to find it on the plate). Good choice for vegetarians.
