One can’t deny the perks of having amazing sea food on your table . Try out this amazing place for it serves you with its sea food delicacies.
For a dining treat, Spitalfields has always represented for me. Androuet, Blixen and La Pietra are a few which has tickled my taste buds. Living and working nearby, it is inevitable that I will have a wander around the market and cater to my food craving by having a snack here. The Wright Brothers was on my list. I follow their instagram feed and love the tantalising food shots and bags of personality their posts have. In fact, I think that more and more, instagram is influencing my decision on where to dine. It isn’t always easy or cost effective to book a photographer to boost your website gallery, so instagram helps cut corners in a visual, up to date and effective way. Shots that you took last year still on your food gallery pales in comparison to a quick snap on your smartphone of the special of the day on your instagram feed. I urge restaurateurs to really embrace this way of marketing.

Anyway, back to the review. Wright Brothers in Spitalfields is filled with an older, smart serious crowd. It is just important that you know if you have a beard, skinny jeans and are a little more Shoreditch than city. That said, it doesn't really make a difference, as the focus here is the food. We tried it for lunch and although we had not made a reservation, we were squeezed in. One thing I must note is that it was busy, but the waitress, whilst serving a table and acknowledging another guest practically snapping their fingers for attention, nodded our way to let us know she would be with us in a sec. That kind of juggling of roles, reminds me of old school service, when the front of house team really saw this industry as a career route, as opposed to gap fillers/travelling jobs. It puts you at ease and off the bat, let's you know you are in good hands.
Once we were seated with menus, we asked about a couple of dishes and she proceeded to blow our minds further by knowing exactly what was in the dish, how it was prepped and presented. We were sold. It was literally a breath of fresh air. I seldom talk about service in restaurants unless it is particularly bad, as most of the time it is just passable and not worth a mention. This was the bar for all future places I go to, to surpass. I am not holding my breath.
We went for the express lunch menu which is value for money with 2 courses for £21.00 or 3 courses for £25.00. The portion sizes are not rations, you are actually left full up.
For starters I had ortiz achovies, with shaved winter beets and chives. Sam (not me or the one who lives in Essex), had graceburn feta, pomelo and cashew nut salad. The speciality here is seafood, but I just wanted to quickly add that they do steak so meat lovers are not left out. For main course, it was a hefty shrimp filled burger with chips and chipotle mayo for Sam and a morel mushroom & rich wild garlic mushroom tagliatelle. Yes, it rocked. We were well chuffed with our decision to come here as the food was outstanding. During the meal, the service continued to be attentive and on point. Genuine smiles and intention to assist.
I highly recommend visiting this one or any of the other locations. They have definitely got things Wright, oops sorry, right!
After a long & hard day of moving house, Part 1, there was no way that Michael & I were cooking ourselves supper. Thankfully, Wright Brothers in Spitalfields were able to squeeze us in for a last-minute reservation. Just a 10 minute walk from home, we entered the upmarket fish restaurant and oyster house with no expectations, hungry & tired.
Happy hour £1 oysters you say, yup. No risk of ever being magnesium or zinc deficient, give me a dozen. I've been known to rock up alone, like a dirty secret to have a beer and a dozen right before I head home, my partner non the wiser. Good service, at times a bit slow. Mains are tasty and I think good value. Try the bloody Mary with the oyster shooter. Can you overdose on oysters...?
Despite being a big seafood lover, I hadn’t been to Wright Brothers before. We booked an early table for Valentine’s Day at the Spitalfields branch and when we arrived, their amazing ‘pound a pop oysters’ offer was still going on. This takes place Monday to Sunday, 3pm-6pm – it’s a fantastic deal for Oyster lovers! So naturally, we snaffled a few before ordering the rest of our meal.

World-class seafood, you can’t fault with eating here at The Wright brothers. The Wright Brothers Spitalfields is super busy at night. The Wright Brothers Spitalfields offers a “see-to-plate” dining experience with its large seawater tank right inside the restaurant. Our server was enthusiastic giving us a full explanation of the blackboard specials.
Love this place! We used to go to the one in borough market every Saturday afternoon for drinks & oysters & was so happy they opened this one closer by,
Food is always amazing never had a dish I didn't like, & the ambience is always warm & welcoming they have great staff working at all 3 their places,
This place needs no introduction as I reviewed their other venue on my website numerous times. World-class seafood, you can’t fault with eating here at The Wright brothers.
The Wright Brothers Spitalfields is super busy at night. When my friends and I arrived, the inside dinning spaces were full and the only place left was seating outside. The Wright Brothers Spitalfields offers a “see-to-plate” dining experience with its large seawater tank right inside the restaurant.
Our server was enthusiastic giving us a full explanation of the blackboard specials. Doing a wonderful job looking after us and even giving us free food.
The oysters are a must have here, several varieties on offer, their plump, fleshly creaminess texture with different seawaters in the taste, leaves you simply wanting more and more. It’s still one the best tasting oysters I had in London.
Ordering one of the potato gratins it came in a surprising large portion, still piping hot with steam letting loose. Two huge blocks of multilayers of thinly sliced potatoes deep-fried until crispy yellow brown. Accompanied with a mayo, it had slight garlicky aftertaste with different textures of crispiness from the thinly slices.
The dressed oysters were given free to us, three deep-fried oysters coated in breadcrumbs, pine smoked for deep earthy flavours.
Overall The Wright Brothers Spitalfields is a true taste of seafood at it’s finest and is one of the places for true seafood connoisseurs who love fresh tasty seafood. It won’t burn a hole in your wallet I’ve already been to other Wright Brothers sites numerous times and it never fails to deliver quality food.
Maybe it’s a little macabre to choose the crab destined for your plate. I watched some of the critters in the tank at Wright Brothers Spitalfields, and did partly want to select the tastiest looking (I’m not quite sure what signs you should look out for to equal a delicious cooked state).
I didn’t make the fatal selection, but the crab we had was excellent - really fresh, with a tangy pot of mayonnaise and sourdough bread (and £13 for a small crab, even if it was very sizeable). The oysters were also beautifully briny, dressed with pickled cucumber on top (£9 for three). The new site from the oyster farmers, shellfish merchants and two existing London restaurants (Soho and Borough) has 1,400 live shellfish upstairs to select, along with 9,000 more in holding tanks in their basement. You can’t get much fresher from tank to table.
The first side of the menu is made up of the shellfish, with the other side items from the kitchen. From the kitchen, we shared the octopus with potatoes (£10), tender with the red burnish of paprika, and the sprouting broccoli with chunky green sauce packed with capers (£5.50). The fried stuffed olives (£6 for three) were a little different to the last kind I tried at 8 Hoxton Square – here they came chopped with the anchovy and parsley, then reshaped within the crispy crumb, with the same pleasingly saltiness/bitterness.
We sat at the bar – it’s definitely the best spot for watching the construction of the impressive shellfish platters, or today revealing the whole baked sea bream from their snowy salt crusts. The room has the salty tang of the sea, and it’s a brilliant spot for seafood (a welcome addition to Spitalfields too, which has a generally not very exciting selection of restaurants in the market).
The food was really good and the Bloody Mary was amazing too. I loved the oyster happy hour and really enjoyed the place too. The atmosphere and location is chilled and a great place to go with friends, partner or as a small few. Friendly staff and definitely go for them scallops! Yum
The food in this restaurant is just beautiful and exquisite! The oysters are nice and fresh and the octopus is a real must, although you really can't go wrong with any of the dishes. The staff were also very attentive and helpful so you won't regret your experience in this restaurant. There's also a winter heated terrace outside which looks just as lovely as the restaurant inside.
Came here for the £1 oysters between 3-6pm!!!!! Fresh and cheap. Lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff! We ordered a selection of 100g shell fish, amazing value for money and fresh!!. The fries are super!! Definitely coming back for more ❤

They have great service, it's a very clean and posh restaurant. Their toilets are clean and so beautiful. The waiters are nice and friendly and very attentive to their customers. The food is to die for....the fish and chips was delicious and the platter with oysters, crab, prawns, mussels and cockerel was the hit of my day😊😊
Great atmosphere and service. The central bar seems to work well and the booths to the side where we sat were ideal for people watching! Cocktail delivered by a smiling barman was delicious. Seafood was fresh and presented beautifully over ice. I still think oysters taste like a great mouthful of sea water but that’s just me!
A very enjoyable experience overall and made to feel special. I also enjoyed seeing binoculars on the shelf, if only we could see out to sea! And sea kelp soap in the bathrooms, nice touch.
Super seafood restaurant in an original Spitalfields market premises. Great service, great food, well prepared in a great environment. Prices to match. Selection of freshest and best seafood on the market, including some of the best Carlingford lough oysters I've tasted.
Lovely! Been there for in the afternoon, in between meetings, enjoyed the 1£ oysters deal. Fresh, delicious, great wine list, attentive service.
Great atmosphere, marble counters, fresh seafood.
It's difficult to write a review for a place like this.
On one hand it was nice to come over with my partner, we didn't wait long, the food was fresh, the drinks were cold, the premises were clean and tidy, we got looked after and we will probably return.
But, yet again, if you are not willing to spend less than £100 (£64 on the medium sized platter + drinks) I don't think that this is the right place for you to go to
Love the seafood here. Their oyster happy hour is fantastic (Oysters £1 each)
They have a good beer and wine selection and the staff are always friendly and accommodating
You can never go wrong with £1 happy hour oysters and a bottle of white. Food is fresh and service is unpretentious and outstanding.
